• Just okay but not like the commercial

  If you have seen the commercial for this product the streaks or highlights look really dramatic. In real life they were much more subtle on my really dark brown hair. Some of the colors included showed up but others like the blonde didn't really work out too well. I think they should sell the kits by hair color so you only get what looks good on your hair color. I'd recommend this product for young girls or teens who can not get permanent color. If you want some quick natural temporary hightlights then you will also like it. A few tips this product seems to work best on straight hair that is short to medium length. Also when you first open a new color cartridge, take your fingernail and scrape a little of the color first, this will help transfer the color better onto the brush and hair. It's relatively easy to use and not messy at all so have fun.

  I ordered this product for my daughter who has been asking for it since we first saw it on TV. I was reluctant to try it because I was afraid it would be more permanent. I gave in, and I was pleasantly surprised. It is easy enough to use, and doesn't take very long to apply. You do have to make sure you hold the hair taught while applying it or you could end up with a few hairs caught in the brushes. I took another reviewer's advise and rubbed the color cartridge with my finger first to get the film off before applying it to the hair. This worked beautifully. The color stayed in until I washed my daughter's hair, although it definately was not as vibrant on day 2 as it was when it was freshly applied. The color did wash right out in 1 shampoo. The only disappointing thing about it is that of the 18 color cartridges it comes with only about 4 of them are "fun" colors (red & blue) that little kids are interested in. The rest of the colors are natural colors (blondes/golds) mostly for highlights. It would be nice if they added some purples, pinks & greens to the set as well.

  I bought this at Toys 'R' Us, finding after high anticipation. I, as well as others, sat in awe at the TV commercial for this product. I like change, so permanent is never an option for me. With this Conair Pro-Color Accents Kit, you can change your 'style' whenever you feel like! The first time I used this, I used the 'Ripe Plum' which is a vibrant red. Boy, did it show up! I was still trying to figure out how to use it, however, it was fairly simple to do. You pull a strand of hair through and push the lever. BAM! I have blonde, straight hair, so I do not know for sure if it works as well on darker hair. One shampoo later, I was left with my normal hair color! This product is ALL that it is cracked up to be. I reccomend it to all! It is way cheaper than going to a salon and getting hi or low-lites.
  After the first use, and some patience, you will get it down, and will enjoy this many times!

• Not great for dark hair

  I bought this for my 12 yr old daughter who wanted highlights in her dark brown hair. I settled for this because we wanted something temporary. We tried a few shades of bronze/gold tones and they barely showed up, looked more like sparkles than highlights. The blue showed a bit better, but we weren't up for a radical color! Maybe it works good on light hair, I don't know. But it didn't work well on dark hair.

  I purchased the Conair Pro Color Accents kit to use at my daughter's 9th birthday party. It took a little getting used to, but we quickly got the hang of it. In order to get vivid color I had to go over the hair a few times. It was great for a few "streaks" around the face, but I wouldn't recommend it for overall highlights. I had read the customer reviews on Amazon before purchasing it, so I knew what to expect. It was perfect for the party - The girls were very happy.

  I finally gave in to my daughter and bought this for her only to find that it actually works! It does exactly what it says and it's kind of fun, too. The only thing to keep in mind is that before you insert a color cartridge it's best to rub the top of it a little to get the color to rub off easier.

  I'm having fun with this product. It's always available....not having to heat up or anything. Having about 70% gray it covers quite well although I use it for highlights rather than streaks or stripes. Never seeing the television ad for it I didn't have expectations.
  It took me awhile getting the knack of it....the slower you pull it through the better color you get.
  Great price for appliance and I also got a refill.

• It Really Works!

  I was very skeptical when I purchased this item because it seems like half the things they sell on TV never work the way they are supposed to. But my daughter wanted it for her birthday so I thought, why not? Surprise! It worked awesome!! I don't understand the complaints here because it did a fantastic job for us from the first time we tried it. I have black hair and my daughter has light golden brown hair and the colors showed up just fine on both of us.
  Well worth the money and lots of fun to play around with!
  
  
• Easy, Fun, and Stylish

  I bought this for my daughters last Christmas and it has been a HUGE hit with both of them! I have even used it on my own hair and loved the results! Each one of us have different hair types. One of my girls has long, thick, straight hair. The other has shoulder-length, naturally wavy/losely curled hair. I have long, thick, spiral-permed hair and this product worked well on each of us! My daughters have blonde hair... one is light blonde, the other is medium blonde and the colors showed up well in their hair. I have medium brown/slightly auburn hair and the colors showed up well in my hair, too. If you want darker, more intense colored streaks be sure to SLOWLY pull the tool down the section of hair. You may even need to go over the same hair section a couple of times. This product is VERY easy to use and the streaks do last quite a while, although they can (and sometimes do!) fade out a little as the day progresses. Washing the streaks out is done with regular shampooing and they wash out very easily. If you have girls in your life that are into style, fashion, and are just plain "girly-girls", then they will love this product! I recommend this product for just about all ages. However... Parents be sure that you are the one applying the streaks on younger children, because younger girls who try to do it on their own may get their hair tangled up in the machine!

  This product is a must have if you are somebody who loves to have highlights, but doesnt want the hassle of always going to the salon to geth them. Plus, they wash right out, so you dont have to worry about your real hair showing above your highlights.

  I have no idea what all these one star reviews are about. I got this for my daughter for her 9 the birthday and it works awesome. I think the people who said the color wasn't good didn't give the cartidge a chance to warm up. You must put it on the hair and let it turn in one spot for about a minute straight to warm the color up and the trick is to move it down the hair shaft slow to get bright thick chunks of color. My daughter has dark brown hair and this works awesome in her hair, you must let it dry, but it last and lasts! We love this! so much!

• Don't waste your money!

  The only color that even shows up is blue(not very well), and red (a very strange red). I couldn't even see the other colors on any hair color, worst of all I ordered the refill pack the same day I ordered the kit. The neighborhood kids had fun the first day but since then it hasn't been touched. What a waste of money. The commercial is so fake because it doesn't even turn out the way they make it look, it has the feel of that stuff you get on Halloween to spray colors in your hair. I don't know how they can legally show that fake commercial!

  Ok i bought this today from an pharmacy and it works great i used it myself and i used pink i do not know why people say the color doesnt work well on dark hair are the crazy.I have jet jet jet black hair and my hair is not straight worked perfectly even on my doll.I would say do not wear it in the rain i havent but i suggest this because it will wash out and youll be pink on your clothes

  As soon as I tried it I loved it and it washed right out in the shower with no trace of color left. It was better quality than I thought it would be. I think for any parent who is not real excited about the whole hair hilighting thing for their kid that this is something that you should try. trust me you will be satisfied because I was and I don't like cheap products.

• Great Slumber Party Fun!

  I got this for my daughter's 7th birthday Slumber Party. Her 10 year old cousin "set up shop" and colored all of the girls hair-- and the boys who were there (boys left at 9pm) got to spike thier short hair and this even added great color to their spikes. It is easy to use, and my girls have a lot of fun playing with it. After it sat unused for several months, we wet the blue cartrige which seemed to be dried out and viola! it was good as new again! This is definitely a TOY-- not for someone who is looking for a cheap way to do REAL highlights-- but my kids love playing with it and looking cool. I am buying several this year as Christmas gifts for the cousins.

  Okay -- maybe I'm missing something here. This product doesn't work AT ALL. I got it for my 8-year old daughter who meets the perfect profile listed by reviewers here -- straight, fine, shoulder length, light brown hair. We tried everything -- scraping the top layer, wetting the product, trying it on dry hair, wet hair, dirty hair, clean hair -- we could not even get an inkling of color out of it. I have read terrible reviews of it on other sites too since I purchased it but bought it based on the good reviews here. I just don't get it -- I'm a pretty mechanical person and the instructions aren't really that complicated so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong but it just doesn't work. Big disappointment for my daughter as a birthday present. I also got her the Conair hair wrapping kit and that made up for this dud of a product because that hair wrapper works great. But the color accents kit has sat in the box ever since and will probably end up at a garage sale for 5 cents and a "buy at your own risk" note. Glad other people are satisfied but I give it a big thumbs down.

  My daughter has been having a blast with the Conair Pro Color. She has darker brown hair, and all the colors look good so far. It's a way for young girls to put the streaks of color in their hair, and it washes out in the next shampoo. My daughter is 13 and uses it very easily on herself.
  
  I want to use it too! My daughter bought it with her birthday money, so the only way I can use it is if I buy the refills. ~smile~ No problem!

  The Pro Color Accents Hair color kit is wonderful. I have a 10 yr old and a 17 yr old and they do their hair all the time. It is very easy to do. I have even tried it myself. Depending on hair color you may have to do the hair a couple of times to get the desired color you want.. But, we like this item in our home.

  The colors don't transfer very well, your hair sometimes get caught and pulled, and it is just a huge dissapointment! I wish I wouldn't have wasted my money. If you're interested in buying this, you can HAVE mine. This way, you don't waste your money like I did.

  It has a very nice look to it. The only thing is it only comes with 1 blue and 2 red catriges and a lot of normal colors. It REALLY does wash out in 1 shampoo though!!!!!!!!! It looks awesome!! When you first put it on it looks great, but on day 2 it looked ok, and on day three it was awful so just reapply it every day and it looks fine!!

  I have two teen daughters who talked me into buying this-both have long hair, (one has hair to her waist). I was a little concerned that something with bristles would tangle and make a mess out of their hair, but this works phenominally well!!! No tangling, no knotting, no mess! A little disappointed in the variety of colors available, (mostly natural tones for highlighting). Would like to see more of the blue and other "fun" colors.

  When my daughter first recieved this about 6 months ago we used it several times and it was a lot of fun! I had to do her hair because it is not good to try to do it yourself! We forgot about it; then we pulled it out again to use it before school yesterday morning and all the cartridges were dried out--I used water to try and moisten them and it didn't work! I called the company and they said that they would send me out a replacement. At least conair stands by their product!

  It works to some extent. I think it looks bad, but it does work. I have caramel blonde hair, and the bright blonde color doesn't work and the light brown looks orange. The blue is kinda chalky looking, so it doesn't look real. It's fun for the purpose of doing it, it just looks really bad.

  I just tried this product on my daughter's hair, and we love it! She has dark brown, thick wavy hair, and it came out great. I tried the suggestion of scraping off the top layer of the color, and we used the blue and plum and both came out really good. I think it's worth the money and we really had fun with it.
