Does NOT fit MOST 42" or larger TVs!!! By A2XUMWYA9DH3HS on 2007-11-28
I was searching for a mount for my new 42" plasma TV, and found this on Amazon. Fortunately, I read the reviews and saw several complaints that this mount didn't fit certain TVs. I then went to the manufacturer's site, peerlessindustries.com, and looked up this model. Right on their product page for this item, the manufacturer warns that this model will NOT fit most TVs 42" and higher. So, unless you want to take a chance, don't get this if your TV is 42" or more. They really shouldn't sell a product named as a universal wall mount for 22"-49" TVs, then have a disclaimer on their site that it won't fit many 42"+ TVs!!! UPDATED 8/23/08- the disclaimer appears to be no longer on their site but I do not know if the product has actually been changed. If you search online you will find many complaints that the mount doesn't fit many 42"+ TVs, so be warned to be carefully when considering this.
Outstanding product -- the manufacturer has thought it out carefully By A2J9XYLB9WWEF4 on 2007-01-30
This is a very solid steel mount which easily handles our 40" LCD TV. The packaging is outstanding (really) in that all the hardware you need is enclosed in carefully compartmentalized plastic bags.
After mounting, you can slide the TV left or right a few inches if required. It is also possible to "lock" the TV to the mount but it is a bit of a pain as you need to use a specially designed (included) allan key and the screw is so close to the wall that you can't turn the key through 360 degrees. It also tend to dust your knuckles a bit as you turn it. Finally, it becomes impossible to tilt the TV out enough to change the cables at the back once the lock screw is tightened.
Once mounted, I found the TV to be very close to the wall so if you have component cables with long plugs they may touch the wall when the TV is in place.
When installing mounts like these, pay very close attention to the instructions as you must make sure there is a sound mechanical connection with a stud or cement block. Drywall alone will not work as a mounting surface. Mounting to metal studs is particularly troublesome.
I installed it on cinder block and plaster without difficulty. Thankfully the force applied by the TV is mostly downward rather than outward in the case of a tube TV so you can feel quite comfortable that the thing will stay put as long as you mount it carefully. Use a level.
It is just a pleasure to use such a well designed and carefully thought out product.
Amazing By A1FE896XCON1XY on 2006-01-30
This wall mount amazed me with the hardware included. Every screw that could be used with a TV out there was included. It was simple to install and does the job, why pay a lot more for a similar unit. It doesn't let you tilt the TV, but if you just look for a mount that allows you to hang your TV flat on the wall, this is the unit to buy. I used it for a 32" LCD flat panel.
Solid piece of hardware By A38X9XX2ZRR0ON on 2006-11-17
Very solid, well manufactured, very secure mounting bracket. I am not a fan of those cantilever arm mounts (use those only out of neccesity). And yes it this is a very low profile mounting bracket. A very smart purchase!
Of particular helpfull installation note, yes it is perhaps a bit more to install, but this will actually hold to plain dry wall (for a relatively small/medium LCD screen) the supplied plastic anchors completely wing out and open providing a secure backing. The giant and I do mean giant tapcon mounting bolts are actually too big to drive into the plastic anchors.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND PRESCREW THEM BEFORE OR THEY WILL JUST SPIN IN THE WALL AND YOU WILL GET NO WHERE, HOLD THE PLASTIC ANCHOR WITH PLIARS AND YOU WILL BE ALL SET.
My studs were way off set for my choice of installation, I was able to grab onto one wood stud on the side, but becuase of the great anchors supplied I have full confidence holding to plain drywall.
Special note, if I did get the articulaing arm mounts (cantilever) I would have be screwed (bad), the small spacing (weight distribution) would NOT have held even my medium LCD panel. I would NOT have trusted those kinds of mounts.
Does not fit Panasonic 42" plasma By A3NFDZ1JV09FKM on 2007-04-12
I ordered this and discovered that my TV was not compatible. The Panasonic mounting holes are too far apart for this mount. I only found this out by calling the manufacturer. I had to reorder the model 660 by Peerless. Peerless customer support did not seem concerned about my problem.
As the Panasonic 42" display is probably one of the most popular sold, something should be mentioned in the advertising to check compatibilty.
My impresion was that it fit all TV's to 49".
The unit appeared well made and instructions seemed good.
- Not fancy, but does the job...
     By A2F7UPZVCA4RG3 on 2007-02-01
I bought this simple mount to put a Magnavox 37MF 321 D , 37-inch LCD TV on the wall, or more accurately, on my new "entertainment center" that I built into a standard 4-inch sheet-rocked wall.My new entertainment center only requires two inches of living room space, replacing a CRT TV and entertainment center that required over 26 inches of valuable living room real estate! This made a BIG difference in our 16X18 living room. While there are a few design features that could probably be improved on, overall it proved up to the task. It mounts the TV nice and flat, and there seems to be plenty of lateral adjustment to get the screen level and straight. I did have to shorten a few bolts with a hacksaw; if making a few minor alterations such as this is beyond your capabilities, you probably shouldn't be doing this job yourself anyway. If possible get a friend to help hold the TV, especially when making your cable connections to the TV just before hanging it. I actually managed this by myself, but a helper would have been very useful.
If you are looking for a fancy, tilt and swivel mount with lots of features(which will also stick out further from the wall), look elsewhere. If you just need a simple mount to hang your TV flat on the wall, this is just the thing.Overall, an inexpensive mount that does the job.
- Too Small for Vizio 37 Inch LCD
     By A14ZQEAKUBGMIT on 2007-07-02
This mount is way too small for many LCDs and Plasmas. It very well may not fit your TV. I thought there was no chance it would happen to me but now I'm stuck having to return it and get the larger 650 model. If you're in doubt order the larger version the first time. Learn from mine (and others) mistakes! It is NOT universal.
- DOES NOT FIT VIZIO 32' 37' 42'. Description my deceive you.
     By A1I4HGGE5RWL7F on 2008-03-01
The product is well made and is as pictured. BUT this item will not fit anything more than an 26in monitor.I think this is a older mount or maybe for commercial use. I do not recommend this product for anything. DOES NOT FIT VIZIO 32' 37' 42'. Description my deceive you. I ended up using for my 22in viewsonic and it barley fit it. Go to the peerless website and put in you tv model and it will tell you what fits, then come back to amazon and find it. I have inserted the correct link for the flat panels I have listed.Peerless SF660 Flat Wall Mount for 32-60IN Flat Panel Screens
- excellent mount
     By A2CV8X7XVTVDL0 on 2006-12-01
This mount works out great for the new TV that I ordered. The only downsides I saw were the distance from both outside mounting holes was exactly 16" on center, so if you aren't planning on putting your tv exactly between two wall studs, order the "tripple stud mount" which is the SF670 I believe. The second was their list of TV's is not current. I purchased a Samsung LN-S4095D and none of the LN-S series were listed, nor do they have updated lists on their web site. I used the LN-R I think for the referance of what mounting screws to use, but overall I was happy with the ease of installation and design of this mount.
- NOT Universal
     By A93Z980U9UJU1 on 2007-06-08
I bought this wall mount unit for my 42 inche plasma tv. It says it will hold up to a 49 inch. It wasn't even close to being able to hold up my 42. It was WAY too small. How is that universal?
- Excellent value in a basic flat screen wall mount
     By A24J2Y1O22JYZX on 2008-08-08
I ordered this for a friend to help mount his VIZIO 32-inch plasma HDTV on the wall. The mount came with an extensive set of mounting hardware for compatibility with multiple brands and models of flat screen TVs, and sure enough, one set was a perfect fit for the VIZIO VP322's metric mounting holes.
It's pretty basic - two parts mount to the back of the TV, one piece attaches to the wall. Hook the TV brackets onto the wall mount, tighten a couple of screws to lock it in place and you're done. The securing screws that fasten the TV bracket to the wall plate are a little hard to reach, but Peerless thoughtfully includes a long Allen screw driver which makes this pretty painless.
By the way, for those concerned about whether or nor this will fit your TV, the SF640 mount supports TVs with "mounting patterns" up to 17.73" wide and 12.94" high. This means that the mounting bolt holes in the back of your television can be no more than 17.73 inches apart (width) and no more than 12.94 inches apart (height). If your TV's mounting pattern is larger than this in either dimension then this is not the mount for you. The load capacity of the mount is up to 150 pounds so this should accommodate most flat panel TVs 46 inches or below (assuming the mounting pattern fits your TV and you mount it properly).
There is no tilt capability, but for the price this really can't be expected. All in all, a great value (with a 5-year warranty) and a high quality product.
- it does not fit
     By A2VQPJ1YXG2BBV on 2006-12-14
I purchased this to mount my lcd tv, 42". It even comes with the make and model of the flat screen stating it will fit. It does not. It is to small and will not reach the holes on the back.
- perfect
     By A42ITDWG7O1S0 on 2007-06-09
This is one of the easiest projects I've in a while. In under 30 minutes, I had my Olevia 27" wall mounted. This product comes with a wide range of screws, as well as spacers and washers. The instructions are clear, but you almost don't need them due to the simplicity of this wall mount. I just looked up my model TV, found the screw sizes needed for the brackets, mounted the wall plate and I was done in under 30 minutes!
The hardest part was tightening the bottom mounted security screws. You'll want to do this to keep the screen from sliding horizontally. Even without that, there are "ends" to the wall plate that keeps it from sliding off. The security screw tool that is included is just a little too wide. You'll find yourself scratching the wall! I managed to bend it enough, such that i could still use it without scratching the wall.
- Poor Description
     By AQCSXRA524Y1M on 2007-09-02
I have a 42 inch and even though the description said that it would fit up to a 49 inch display it was significantly short.
- **Beware of LCD Size** - Deceptive Product Description
     By AGEW69F02OB9C on 2008-05-22
Serves me right for not reading the reviews and warnings from the other Amazon customers out there, but as others have stated, the item clearly listed as "Peerless Universal Wall Mount for 23"-46" Flat Panels" DOES NOT FIT most 42" and above LCD panels.
The Peerless and Amazon description giving the 23" to 46" range and calling the item "universal" is totally deceptive. They are doing a terrible disservice to their customers, many of whom will not realize that contrary to the item description, the wall mount is not compatable with their LCDs.
There is no disclaimer on the Amazon web page at the time of ordering (save for the other customer reviews). In fact, the Amazon web description touts it as supporting "virtually any 23" to 46" flat panel screen"... but when the product arrives and the small disclaimer on the instructions sheet reads "most 42" and larger screens may not work with this mount", you've been duped and have wasted your time and shipping money.
- fast and simple
     By ACL8BBV9SI9WO on 2006-11-18
Great instruction, just pick out your TV from the list and it tells you witch fasteners to use. Fasteners are individually packed. We love the extra space by having our 32in lcd on the wall.
- check w/ the manufacturer
     By A11ZAKSK0WT4VV on 2007-03-08
Check that this fits your plasma or LCD before you buy. It's not so universal as they say. It didn't fit my Philips 42PF7320A plasma. CHECK! I can't stress that enough.

- Mounted my 40" Sony - No Problem
     By A326MD7OODXMY4 on 2007-03-08
If you're considering mounting your TV, and don't want to break the bank, I can recommend this one. I mounted our Sony KDL-40S20L1 with no problem. All the hardware is provided for most every brand of TV.
I did sweat just a bit when hanging the TV on the bracket. There seemed to be no more than a couple inches of adjustment left/right. Luckily, since the bracket was near perfectly centered, the TV did not need to slide much to correct for being "near" perfect :-) Also, I used two mounting holes in the middle since the wall plate did not spread the 16" on either side to fasten it to another stud. Using the one stud/two fasteners seems to be plenty strong for the job.
What I did not like about the mount is time it took to turn the screws to secure the braces to the wall bracket. They are located on the bottom of the braces and ensure the TV does not come off the bracket. The supplied wrench is "L" shaped and the short leg is way too long to turn 360 degrees. (The good news is that your TV is only and inch or so off the wall) I spent more time turning those two screws than the entire time it took to mount the bracket or the braces. I plan to use my Dremel to trim the leg of the "L", or cut it off completely. I might then be able to use an electric screwdriver with that to speed up that process.
Lastly, you'll need a buddy when you mount the TV. It definitely takes two to make sure the thing gets hung safely. Good Luck to you!
- CHECK YOUR VESA SPECIFICATION.
     By A2OORV7D6K0I64 on 2007-06-10
This mountd DID NOT FIT my Samsung 42" plasma. The stantions are too short for a VESA 600 wich have the mounting bolts at 15.75in on center vertically. The stantions for this mount are only 13in. Also, if your TV uses the large 4mm M8 size mounting screws, this kit does not include them and they're too big for the holes in the stantions. Check your TV mounting dimensions BEFORE buying this mount.
- Simple and Confident Wall Mount
     By AHARF9YFVG7E3 on 2007-07-20
Placed a 32 in on this wall mount and it installed simply and easily. The product says for up to 49 inch flat screens, but I would suggest checking the distance of your mounting holes on the back of the TV before purchasing as my 32 in reached just before the end of this wall mount. Using the hex screws to tighten to the brackets was a bit of a pain as the TV is close to the wall. Other than that, I have no complaints.
- Fits AKAI 27" LCD TV/DVD
     By A24PZGD8ZQSVXG on 2007-08-09
Finally found one that would fit the AKAI 27" LCD TV with DVD Player. Tried Circuit City & Best Buy & all units were around $100. Not only did this unit fit, it was cheaper even with next day shipping thanks to amazon prime. I would highly recommend!
- Nice hardware, but it doesn't fit my 46" LCD TV
     By A88SRQX65GG1O on 2007-10-28
The included hardware and directions were great, and the mount itself looked nice, but it didn't fit my tv. The vertical bars were too short for the holes on the back. I have a Samsung LNT4665F 46" 1080p LCD HDTV. The peerless website was great though, and I recommend you check it out to make sure the technical dimensions are correct for your tv. (http://www.peerlessindustries.com/) They have every measurement you might need to determine if the mount will fit. I have ordered the larger wall mount instead: Univ Flt Wall Mnt for 32-63IN Flat Panel Screen.
- Great wall mount
     By A12RRG9C19B8KL on 2007-11-03
I have shopped around for wall mounts for my 40" Sony and have found them to be very expensive (Approx. $200 PC Richard, Best buy, Circuit City etc...) Not only were they expensive they mounted TV several inches from the wall. This wall mount, mounts the TV just an inch or so from the wall. I mounted the TV in less than half an hour. Just make sure you mount the wall bracket into studs. The allen screws that secure the bottom of the TV bracket to the wall bracket can be time consuming to tighten because you cannot do a full 360 rotation with the allen key. Cut the end off of the supplied allen key with a hack saw and use your cordless drill. It takes just minutes to tighten like this. Great sturdy product for just a fraction of the price of the wall mounts offered by local electronic stores.
- Not Good for Samsung 23"
     By A1FKAM8P2MW2P9 on 2007-11-18
I purchased this to mount a Samsung LN-T2353H 23" LCD. Although Peerless says this model will work with this TV, I found it difficult to do so. First of all, this TV has a plug in the back that goes in at a 90 degree angle which gets in the way of the vertical brackets. I had to move the vertical brackets up higher (not centered as per instructions) in order to get the plug in. Even with that, it is not in all the way. Secondly, these same vertical brackets fall right in line with many of the inputs in the back, making it impossible to use most of them. I had to use the side AV inputs for a VCR...which looks kind of ugly. As others have said, this low profile mounting bracket almost puts the TV too close to the wall, so many of the wires have to be bent uncomfortably in order to get it to lay flat on the mount. It might be a good idea to use spacers so you get additional wall clearance. Also, that allen wrench has to go! good thing the screw only has to turn a little in order to lock in.
I probably should have exchanged this for another wall mount system, but maybe the problems have to do with the way the TV is set up (and that it is too small) and I would have these issues with any wall mount? I have no problem with the Peerless itself, except for that allen wrench, but maybe it is better for slightly bigger TVs.
- Have yet receive the item I ordered
     By AQO05N7WHW58X on 2007-12-28
I can not give any review as I have not yet receive the item I ordered. I will when I have achance to use it. Thank you.
- Hangs the TV flush, a little TOO flush
     By ARBTFRU33CZS8 on 2008-04-11
The Peerless did not fit my Samsung 23" LCD tv well.
It wasn't quite as universal as I thought it would be. The one wall bracket fit fine, the other went almost straight across where I needed to plug in my power cord to the TV.
I somehow plugged the cord into my TV and have the bracket on a slant.
Secondly, the Peerless Wall Mount mounts the TV TOO close to the wall.
It doesn't allow room for the power cord, which at it's connection point is about an inch and a half long or so. The power cord is pinched pretty bad, and the cable cord isn't pinched as bad, but bad enough.
All this is even after I put the spacers in to give the tv more space.
If somehow your TV is different, then this will be a great product for you.
- DOSN'T FIT MOST 42" TVs !! Check first!!
     By A2PSRMNXTXK6AI on 2008-05-17
I gave it 1 star because of the way Amazon advertises this. Universal... Nope!
Also, the picture is not what you get. This may be an older version of this model.
It won't fit my 42" Philips LCD.
The product itself looks good for the price. No level though.
- Compatibilty Information Missing
     By A2W2ZXT36PIHND on 2008-08-21
Since the description says "Universal Wall Mount for 23"-46" Flat Panels" people tend to assume that what it means. What a waste of people's time and effort to leave out the important compatibility information that this cheap pile only fits some plasma TV's.
- Tiger Direct needs to fix their ad on Amazon
     By A3VMMK8J2G83WG on 2007-01-11
This wall mount did not fit the 42" TV that I bought it for. Not even close to the span needed. When I called Tiger Direct they were very good and refunded my money (thus the 2 stars instead of 1). The ad for the same mount on their web site provided the necessary info to keep someone from buying this mount when they needed a larger one, but that is not very helpful after the fact. Amazon and Tiger Direct need to get together to make the info consistent.
- The Wall Mount Was A Very Easy Installation
     By A3QLVOEYZ0QLA3 on 2007-01-12
After recieving the product and looking over the installation instructions, the rest was a piece of cake, really. Once I found the structural studs, the installation took about 15 to 20 minutes if that. If you do not want your LCD screen to tilt, this unit is great and very easy to install. I'll give it a 5.
