Not what I was hoping By A3C5U7DSVINOGQ on 2006-12-18
I gave the product 2 stars because living in a warm weather climate but having a small backyard I was looking forward to the portability and hopefully the sturdiness of the product. Unfortunately, as some might be able to read on the Target related reviews of the same product here, I weigh about 185,6ft "normal" guy and was quickly sinking to where I could basically feel the support poles every time. Unfortunately what would have been perhaps a 4 star comment later on became a 2 because my father laid down to relax, and he weights perhaps 200-210 max and the support structure completely ripped through, and he could have injured himself pretty badly. So I guess it's really the luck of the draw and I might risk myself at purchasing one again but through a brick and mortar store to be sure it can be returned.
Totally awesome for me By A1TE625LRJXK9F on 2006-02-18
Great price on a great product for solo lounging and napping. Compact and comfortable for my size of 5'10" 160. Struts appear to be plenty sturdy to withstand a trip in checked airline baggage unscathed. Will likely gift this one and search for the deluxe model with book and beverage holders built in. My item came in gray rather than blue. Ordered on a Saturday and arrived following Friday to New York standard UPS from merchant Guide Express with a UPS origin of Minnesota.
I am a perfectionist consumer. For five stars this it would need the beverage and magazine holders and an option for some sort of sun shade for the head.
Note: I could see heavy usage by two adults ripping the stitching out at the spreader bar attachment points.
very relaxing By AYX5D8YZM7LKP on 2005-12-01
Easy to assemble. Very compact. And it is great using it outdoor as much as indoor. The case has a backpack strap so it's very easy to lug around. And of course very light.
kelsyus portable hammock By A3PPV5250XTPEX on 2006-02-25
I ordered one for my husband, when it arrived it was such a hit I ordered one for me. We are so looking forward to camping this summer with these as part of our enjoyment. They are so easy to set up and take down. They are heavy. Getting in and out is a bit of a fun. My Daughter's want to sun bath. And the fun really begins.
Good product By A2B3DIT71R4LVM on 2006-05-22
This portable hammock is a really nice purchase. It's pretty comfy and great to use in and outside. My only problems was it seems to weight more the 22lbs. It is still easy enough to carry around. Also, it doesn't have the big swing range of regular hammocks but I guess that's an ok trade off just to be able to take it with you. This is a very sturdy product that's a good size and I recommend it.
- Kelsyus Hammock-worth the relaxation by far
     By ASUD87FH5J511 on 2005-07-19
Hammock is great! Very easy to assemble. Fairly low price. Little bit heavy for long hauls but with all the framework it is to be expected. Watch your fingers closing it up.
- Not what it seems
     By A1GYLYQFZFZJFF on 2006-02-27
It says 22 pounds...what a joke....this thing is heavy and not the "lighweight, portable" hammock it announces itself to be.

I love the portability of this hammock, it is comfortable, and nice to be able to travel with it.

This was a gift for my wife, and she totally flipped when it arrived. Amazon is a great service. I paid for 1 day delivery, but it came in 2 days....when I inquired about a price adjustment, Amazon removed the whole shipping charge. Talk about customer service!! I will use this site again & again for all my online purchases.

- Just what we wanted...
     By AJJ1LH4RUA54F on 2005-10-24
This is a very nice hammock. It's portable just like those chairs in a bag that we take to ball games. It stores easily and can be set up or put away in a flash. We highly recommend!
- So easy to fold up and put away!
     By A36LOFUR3U753Z on 2006-07-10
Very well made, as easy to put away as it is to set up (watch your fingers though). The backpack feature makes the weight bearable, I'm not an athlete and I backpacked it about a mile without a problem...although I wouldn't have wanted to go much further. There's also a handle for quick trips to the car and such. So comfortable, wish it had a pillow, but I just roll up the carrying case and tuck it under my neck. So worth the money and your always the envy wherever you set up...
Brought mine to the blues festival...sheer heaven!
- disappointed
     By A36QG72XGSRC6K on 2007-04-03
I have used the hammock about 2 times and it is already ripping at the seams.. I'm pretty disappointed that after 2 uses, the product is tearing.. I think when I bought the product, it said that it would hold up to 200 lbs. I weigh about 96lbs and it can't even hold my weight...
- Great portable relaxation
     By A3RC7YM27X78W3 on 2006-07-09
Forget about lounge chairs. This thing rocks! hehe. Sets up and breaks down in under a minute. A little tricky to get in and out of at first but, no sweat after a few tries. I'm 5'5" and it's perfect size for me. Caution to anyone over 6 feet, you're not going to fit on it too well also if you're over the 250 weight limit. Otherwise seems real rugged and easy to clean with a damp cloth. I wouldn't want to hike too far with this on my back though. It is quite heavy. Amazon's price is the best I found with the free shipping. Highly recommended.
- Take it indoors!
     By A70U5DVTBOVPV on 2006-11-04
I love this hammock and use it all the time. I have no dining room table, so have instead created a reading lounge with my trusty hammock as the center-piece in my apartment. It's perfect in a room with a lot of light and can't be beat as a spot to read. I have hardwood floors. At first that was a bit of a concern, however, the frame is great because it has these nice little plastic bottoms that don't scratch the floor.
Cons?
1) You can take short naps, but it's not recommended for sleepovers.
2) House guests are bewildered because you have a hammock in your dining room.
3) As others have noted, the tension leaves a bit to be desired. Don't let your 200+ lb friends sit in it or it will lose a little of its snap.
4) You will get fewer chores done.
5) You can't eat from it as easily as you would a kitchen table.
6) Can also be a bit difficult to get out of the hammock A) because it's tricky B) why get up?
More Pros:
1) You get a very "aloha" vibe about you when you chill in the hammock.
2) House guests are bewildered because you have a hammock in your dining room.
3) When you take it to the park, everyone is jealous.
4) It's super easy to set up.
5) Makes a nice phone booth.
Overall impression:
There's definitely something special about lounging around in a hammock that changes your perspective on things. I can't put my finger on it, but I'm going to keep trying to figure it out.
Recommended for:
bachelorettes, people with no furniture, 180 lbs and under
Not Recommended for:
cats, small kids, antsy people, really old people

How not to fall down when getting out of the hammock:
Carefully choose your footing by planting one foot underneath the hammock instead of outside of the frame. This gives you a sturdy base from which to stand up from. Viola!
- Love that little thing
     By APJSUAXCQJD0L on 2006-07-26
I really like my little gray hammock I liked the picture of the blue one but the gray is even nicer-soothing. Actually we haven't taken it out of the living room. Great to watch tv or fall asleep in. It is low to the ground so you can get your drink. I like that you can swing yourself in it easily with a nice gentle motion.Great quality in the hammock and the carry bag also. Thanks so much for such a gem.
- Almost right
     By ASJ12W5QYUIVQ on 2006-08-18
The biggest complaint that I have is that the hammock part is too long or the support poles are too short. Every adult that I know that tried out the hammock hit bottom getting into the hammock. I had to modify it to make the support stand taller.
Other than that it was just what I was looking for.
- Kelsyus Portable Hammock - held up in extreme conditions
     By A36ONMG07HVVOW on 2006-11-04
I bought two of these hammocks to replace two similar ones that were stolen out of my car before I had a chance to use them. I took these compact badboys to burning man where they were they saw near constant use inside my dome. They were plopped on, had multiple people on them in unusual conditions, they were used in dust storms, people wrestled and cavorted in them, folks of prodigeous girth occupied them for extended periods. all in all they went through hell and held up pretty well. I would prefer an ability to adjust the tension for different size/weight occupants and a more breathable material for hammocking in extreme heat. besides that they were the cat's pajamas. Though, no way is anybody carrying one anywhere on a long hike, they are heavy as anything. They are extremely compact and easy to transport in their carrying bags.
- Great Product!
     By A2D29H4SPDPD2P on 2007-07-26
This is a great affordable alternative to the standard hammock, and its portable! It is very easy to take up and down, and is very sturdy and well made. I would definately recommend it to anyone interested.
- Portable Hammock
     By A2PM9V6CXKITS6 on 2007-08-15
If you weight more than 250lbs, stay away from this product. Nowhere does it state what the weight limit is. The fabric stretches to the point where your butt touches the ground. Look at LL Bean's portable hammock instead.
- How can you complain
     By AWBZ4E5Q7890R on 2007-11-21
Living in an apartment and having limited patio space, I was hoping to find something semi-compact yet comfortable and sturdy. This hammock is just that. I am 6ft 210lbs and I can only disagree with the poor reviews I have read. My main reasoning to disagree would be that this is not a rope hammock that takes a min. of 13ft and the cost is very low.
Why complain about not getting a Cadillac when you paid for a Dodge. I find the product to be very sufficient and comfortable. I can only imagine that a more expensive and better quality hammock is superior, so if that is what you want then buy it. For everyone else... I think you will be content and satisfied with this purchase.

I love this hammock. If we had room to take more on our canoe trips we would all take one. I like to stake it out even tighter at each end for a more firm feel. It was hard to pack it up from our living room because we love it so much.

The hammock has worked out great to take camping and even in the backyard. It folds just like a chair and can be stored easily.

Comfortable & easy setup. Tried to convince my wife it looks good in the living room. One downside is that the fabric, after using it a few times, stretched to almost hitting the ground.(Note I am not a heavy person). All in all a great deal!

I really like this product. It is a little heavier than I thought, but comfortably folds into a shoulder strap carrying bag. It is for our camping trips- we'll all be fighting over who gets to relax in it for many years to come!

The only draw-back to the product is the sagging in the middle of the hammock with a 200lb. man using it. It is comfortable, and by scooting up a little bit, the sagging can be avoided.

My husband loves hammocks. We live in a high rise building, and this is the perfect answer...
- Fun in the Sun!
     By AXY3TDXL7U7GT on 2008-06-20
This is a great looking "portable" hammock that sets up quick and feels great to relax on. I was surprised that it is not as light as I hoped it would be. Too heavy to hike with for sure. Guys will have no trouble lifting and carrying for short distances, like from the car to the waterfront at the beach. But don't expect to go cross country with this baby slung over your shoulder like a back pack. Women can imagine this is like carrying 2 loads of wet wash from the basement to the yard at one time! You can do it but not for long.
However, it is so much fun once it is set up. The blue cloth feels nice and you get a great view of the sky.
you will enjoy this very much.
- Poor product
     By A3KV2LPFU7GS9E on 2008-06-20
Waste of money. If you weigh more than 150 pounds or anyone you know that does gets in it, your/their butt is on the ground (can't swing) and then it's stretched out and doesn't work for small people either.
