Great to have in the house when power goes out! By A2SXNOGSCX5JHF on 2006-10-07
I also live by the ocean, and we have frequent storms (and occasionally tropical storms/hurricanes), causing electricity outages. The lamps are wonderful to have in the house, we have 3 and just ordered 2 more. They came in good use several times this year. During one blackout, a neighbor came over and thought we had electricity, only to find out it was the Coleman battery-powered table lamps! They give enough light (not overly bright but it's good enough) so you can read a book, newspaper, or work on your hobbies or collections until the electricity has returned. 2 would probably be sufficient for the kitchen, 2 for a large living room, 1 for the family room or den, and 1 for the bathroom. It was still as bright 7 hours into the dark night before the electricity returned, and no sign of weakening batteries. Battery operated lamps are great, and useful during blackouts!

We live in hurricane alley, and since we are also on the ocean, we have some severe storms. This is a great little lamp which we use until the lights come on during outages. The batteries hold for a long time. I bought my others at WalMart a few years ago but they didn't carry them any longer.
PLEASED By AK5EVLHXBCB57 on 2007-01-09
We had a very bad storm on October 11, 2006. Without the Coleman Lamp we would have been sitting in the dark for 6 days and 6 nights. It made a terrible situation a little more bearable. I now have two of them and gave one to each of my sons.

Soft Glow By A1RTBJTF26BS6F on 2004-06-28
I work at a facility that hosts weddings and corporate events. One client brought a series of these instead of luminaries to light our patio. It worked extremely well and looked excellent, with no chance of fire or candles blowing out, as can happen with luminaries.
- WORKS GREAT!

I have only had a couple blackouts that were short lived since I got the lanterns, but I put them on immidiatly, I am very happy with them much better than a flashlight for this purpose and definately safer than candels
- Love It

10 minutes after unpacking and turning on, I went right to the p/c and ordered two more. A simple, unfussy light...love it.
- Quality Control Bad on This Item
     By A2Y44M53UCBIGO on 2008-07-05
The first lamp that I ordered wouldn't light. I checked all batteries, the light bulb, and the on/off switch. Nothing. So I ordered a replacement. The second one one lighted, but the on/off switch was defective and would not always operate. I conclude that if two lamps in a row are found to be defective, quality control is bad on the item.
- Perfect and Simple
     By A209QRVZ99UQDC on 2008-02-10
This is a perfect lantern to take camping. Non-breakable. Non-flammable. I set mine on a plastic table right next to my cot. No more fumbling for a flashlight in the middle of the night. One button for On and Off. Simple. The carrying handle makes it portable and easy to move. I haven't changed the batteries in two years, and I use this lantern a lot.
It's a hefty lamp too. It isn't flimsy or something you'd easily knock over. It's solidly build to last a long, long time.
- Completely Satisfied

This lamp provides plenty of light inside our tent. I bought two and keep both of them handy at home for power outages.
- Perfect little light

Thank you Amazon for truly delivering this the next day (ordered on Friday, got it today on Saturday). Yes, it cost extra shipping (only 4.99 total with Prime), but with hurricane Dean headed our way, I couldn't chance not getting it in time. I was so surprised to see the delivery at my door, along with several other boxes I ordered. We are out of so many survival items where I live.
As for the lamp, it is the perfect amount of light for my bedroom bedside table, or for use in the bathroom. It is a dim light, but that's what I want. I also bought 2 large Coleman battery lanterns (8 D cells and VERY bright) for the large rooms of my house. I must have a night light on or I cannot sleep. This will be perfect. It has a cute little shade, a push button for on and off only, and uses 4 D batteries. I don't know how long it will last on one set of batteries, but I bought a ton of them. I also hope I don't ever need it, unless we go camping. Perfect size for a small tent. And it's Coleman quality indeed. What more do you want for this price.
- Okay for emergency power backup
     By A3PJI9G4523F0D on 2007-09-23
I'm not as impressed by this table lamp as others. For reading, it really isn't much better than a book light and is probably duller. Would work well in a power outage or outdoors in place of candles.
- A must have for stormy weather.
     By A3GZH53OZKWOZ1 on 2007-11-12
Having been through quite a few power outages and more i'm sure yet to come, this is a blessing. Having a toddler in the house, this is much safer than using candles and gives off more light. I ordered 3 already and will be getting more for family as well.
- Disappointed in performance
     By A27XVLFI8B9U0U on 2008-09-17
I bought two of these lamps last year and neglected to take them out of the box until I needed them this past weekend for Hurricane Ike. I loaded up the batteries and they worked well for about 15 minutes, after which the light bulbs just popped out! Very strange to say the least. So they weren't much help as we endured a power outage of 40 hours.
- Terible lamp
     By A28QA37DNQRQ36 on 2008-10-02
i have this lamp and it gives out bearley any light and to top that it is very very very very very ugly, this is a waste of your hard earned money
- Great Lamps for When the Power Goes Out
     By A2795923MDL2TZ on 2008-06-15
I love these lamps. I know they are mostly for camping, but they are also great for when the power goes out in your house. Buy a few of them and you can light up a room as if the elec was still on, which is great because you can do activities and actually be able to see. Also safer than candles.
- Nice little light
     By A1FOVRPL4RW1VZ on 2008-06-24
Not bad for a $13.00 lamp. At first the light bulb was a little loose and produced very little light. After tightening it up a little, thing works great!
Thanks,
- Nice Size
     By A32GDTVCUT83N3 on 2008-06-27
I purchased this lamp to use on a secretary desk where I pay bills. There is no electrical outlet nearby and I needed something small enough to put inside the desk that had its own power source. I am able to read by the light, but it does not light up a very large area.
- A bright lifesaver!
     By A3GG4IS30B831A on 2008-07-31
This battery operated lantern is the best. It puts out a lot of light, and is a blessing when your power goes out. We live in an area that gets hit by hurricanes and these lamps can be a real lifesaver. The batteries last longer than you think they will. I give this an A++++++
- Love the warm glow
     By A1Q89GBU0SN418 on 2008-09-08
I would have loved to give this item 5 stars. It's a wonderful little lamp. It emits a warm halogen glow and really lights up my 6 person tent.
Unfortunately, very shortly after receiving it the krypton bulb assembly broke and I had to glue it together inorder to take it on my Burning Man trip. Fortunately, this is a replaceable part.
