• Cheap and does what it promises

  I've only used this item as a park blanket, but for what it costs, this thing is a great deal for its size. Repels water, provides a soft surface to sit on. Its convertible qualities make folding a bit tricky, but not impossible to get the hang of.

  We use this when traveling with our kids. Great for impromtu picnics. Easy to fold back up in itself and use as a pillow for long car rides. I'll keep it in the car always.

  As winter sleeks away with spring rains, thoughts of reading in parks and beaches burble forth. There are tools required to make the action right. Start with the Coleman blanket.
  
  With wine or ice tea, armed with Twain, Cervantes, Wharton or Bronte, packing pens and notebooks, there you have most of what you need. Needed more, and especially, though, is a blanket. Bring at least the book and the blanket, and you are geared and ready for reading.
  
  Bring, too, your kindest friend or sweetest lover, and find room enough for two for leisured reading and wine sipping.
  
  Find a tree big enough for shade, small enough to let light flicker through, and unfurl the blanket. Watch where the sun is going, and position your blanket accordingly. Let the shade follow you. A bright glare on Huck Finn will not do him, nor you, any good.
  
  The blanket is also a poncho and stadium seat cushion, but, properly folded or wrapped, all blankets show the same versatility.
  
  What matters is that under a budding tree in March through September, on sunny mornings and overcast afternoons, this blanket connects you with a friend, and your book.

  If you are looking for a picnic blanket that wears like iron and can withstand any punishment, you can find them on line (for $100+). But if you are looking for a decent, versatile picnic blanket to keep in your car and put down when you want to have an impromptu stop at the park with the kids, this is what you want. As a "blanket" it would only be marginally functional because I don't think it is all that warm but better than nothing in a pinch. As a poncho, it is a bit awkward but again, functional in an emergency situation. As a picnic blanket it's just right and the size is much larger than most other blankets out there. The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is that it is a bit tricky stuffing it back into the built in pouch. I can see the pouch splitting over time if a person is not careful.

  We spend many hours at softball and soccer fields and when it gets cold this Coleman 3 in 1 blanket makes a hugh difference. No wind goes through it and the fleece inside is warm and toasty!

  This blanket has an opening in the middle which is great for placing the beach umbrella.
  It also washes up beautifully
  Since it folds up to the size of a newspaper folded in half, I keep it in my trunk for emergencies.
  
  
• Versatile but what's with the scratchy velcro?

  I ordered this based on the great reviews. Liked the blanket in person and how it converts to a poncho and stadium seat. But there is one big flaw. In the blanket mode there is a opening in the middle attached with small bits of velcro. The velcro barely holds the opening together and is scratchy making this a major design flaw. Since I plan to use it primarily as a blanket I am disappointed. Not worth the return shipping hassle so I will keep it. But Coleman should fix this. Anyone have a fix?

  Maybe its just me...but I was not impressed. I bought it for a gift to go with the picnic backpack and it looked no more than just average. I thought it was going to look alittle more like LL Bean or LandsEnd quality. I guess you get what you pay for.

  I carried this with me all summer long. It's not extremely bulky when enclosed in it's pouch, stays dry and clean with the waterproof side down and is cool and comfortable on the fleece top. Cleans easily. Great for picnics.

  The Coleman 3-In-1 blanket is about the same price but larger and warmer than stadium blankets sold by our local sporting goods stores. Cuts the wind real well, too. Just the thing for late winter/early spring outdoor events. Seems to be well contstructed.

  We bought this original for our family daycare. We wanted something soft for the kids to crawl on when outside. The inside is so soft. I also use it for softball games either as a blanket for cold games, a seat cushion for benches, or some place for my younger son to have a snack. It was in the back of our truck for a long time and I grabbed it as a pillow for a long car ride. Definitely worth every penny.
