This is the one By A2VKTX28041CJV on 2006-02-12
This is the only choice for a quality low cost power supply. It has the power you need for all but the hardcore computers. The leads are long and mesh wrapped and it has all the different ones needed for the newer computers. It is also very quiet. A popular parts selling company has sold tons of these and had stellar reviews on it. I have bought and replaced many power supplies in the last five years and this has been my favorite. I have one running my computer right now.
Thermaltake 430W used in Dell Dimension 8200 By A15Y2VG4ENVAEJ on 2005-12-19
There is so much controversy regarding Dell power supplies, I thought I would review this item. I have installed this item in a Dell Dimension 8200. This computer is a 1.8 Ghz Pentium 4. It previously had a Dell 250 W power supply. This new power supply is working flawlessly! I changed out the smaller P.S., because I am upgrading to a XFX6600Gt graphics card, which requires 300 W minimum. I did have some concerns, after the erronous cautions from Dell support (India). But all is well. I notice that the dual fan configuration is very quiet.
Also, only one caveat. You will need a nibbling tool to remove some rear case sheet metal, so you can clear the rocker switch on this P.S. Not a big problem once you see how it performs.
HTPC Concern By A39DHZCJEUC09A on 2007-06-13
Definitely a good power supply based on the specs. It also is very quiet which is great! I ran into 2 issues when installing it last night.
The 20/24 pin motherboard connector is a little odd. You have to bend the wire all the way to the left to get the 4 pin add-on to lock in place. This was a little odd, and you probably want to tie this cable in that position so those 4 pins do not work there way out of the connection.
Second item was the SATA power connection. There is one cable for 2 SATA devices. Unfortunately the two connectors are only 3 inches apart. This is a problem for building an HTPC system, where the SATA hard disk is not right below my SATA DVD drive. Not an issue if you are using a regular DVD/CD drive.
Excellent power supply for the price By A3N4VTNFPMTHEF on 2008-03-01
Pros:
- Despite having two 80mm fans, this PSU is really quiet.
- All of the cables are wrapped in a mesh sleeve for a nice, clean look.
- Powerful enough for my older system: Athlon x2 4200+, 8800GTS 320MB, 250GB HDD, DVD burner.
- Inexpensive.
Cons:
- There are only two SATA connectors and they're really close together. Forget about having a SATA DVD in the top bay and a SATA HDD at the bottom bay on a larger case.
- Mesh sleeving makes the cables a bit thicker and stiffer to position in the case.
- Minor issue specific to Antec P series case owners, but the power cables weren't long enough to snake through the cable management system on my Antec P-182. I had to just drape the cables over my motherboard and video card.
Great power supply upgrade for Dell Dimension By A2IFZ00ICAERE4 on 2007-10-08
I upgraded the worn down power supply in my Dell Dimension 8200, and this model was perfect. Very quiet and stays cool. Only one minor issue...the power switch isn't flat against the back of my Dell unit, so I just shaved the top of the switch off (since it is not needed anyway, and cannot be accessed unless I cut a hole in the case). Otherwise, plenty of cables and plenty of power. I would highly recommend this particular model if you are needing a more powerful power supply/upgrade to your older Dell Dimension.
- defective
     By A2EBS8DEMKMFMC on 2007-11-24
Unit would not power on(made a short humming sound when switched on), called Thermaltake support and their first suggestion was to send unit to them for repair/replacement (I had the unit for all of 30 minutes at this point). When I told them it would be easier for me to return to Amazon the tech began instructing me on how to "short-out" different connectors with a paper clip in order to "test" the unit! Buy at your own risk.
- Great Deal
     By A2BZKCORX3GP4Y on 2006-07-11

- BEST POWER SUPPLY OUT THER FOR THE MONEY
     By A3OWW7YKQ05D2N on 2006-09-08
I JUST BUILT A NEW COMPUTER AND I USED THIS POWER SUPPLY TO REPLACE THE CHEESY POWER SUPPLY THAT CAME WITH THE CASE I BOUGHT
THIS IS A VERY IMPRESSIVE UNIT THE GLOSS BLACK FINISH LOOKS NICE THE DUAL FANS KEEP AIR MOVEING ACROSS THE COMPONETS INSIDE AND THE SELECTION OF SLEEVED CABLES TOGETHER WITH THE STABLE 18 AMP POWER OUTPUT OUTSTANDING!
THIS IS THE BEST POWER SUPPLY YOUR GONNA FIND FOR THIS PRICE
- Dell 8200 guy was right!
     By A2Z0V2Q0ANL31U on 2007-01-06
Power supply is quite, and works perfectly with a Dell Dimension 8200. No problems at all. I had to upgrade because I went for a high end graphics card that required more power. Great product at a perfect price.
- Just a cheap basic power supply
     By A3R89U5WCVWB7K on 2007-03-30
Looked like a solid piece from the pictures. I had hoped to upgrade to a better power supply for my system. This is just a very basic power supply. I'm sure it works but would not put it in my system. It is now on a shelf. The one that came with my bare bones box is far superior in construction. I will be more careful next time.
- Thermaltake (in general) sucks!
     By A8TWPL3MU520P on 2007-11-26
I am so glad for everyone that loves these power supplies, but my experience has been completely contrary. In fact, I installed my first Thermaltake PS about a year ago... it failed 6 weeks ago. After fighting with Customer Support to get this exchanged, because they INSIST on having the original receipt inspite of their 3 year warranty -- I even registered the *#@*(&% thing with them when I bought it! Finally gave up and ordered another ThermalTake because I knew it fit and worked with my system... and guess what... this one arrived DOA! I'm sorry, I like a good deal like the next guy, but a good deal consists of value for my money... right all they have is my money and I am sending this one back for a REFUND! Still stuck with my previously dead PS... DO YOURSELF A FAVOR... SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND BUY SOMETHING ELSE!!!!
- Quiet? I think not, after a few months.
     By A1Y5HB53HNDKQA on 2007-01-22
I bought this PS to replace the one in my HP box, and was quite impressed with how well it kept the unit cool, and how quite the fans were, even when the unit got warmed up from gaming, watching movies, etc. Then last month, one of the fans started "growling" when I first turned the PC on. After 5 or 6 minutes, as soon as the fan warms up, the noise quietened down to a normal level. I checked to make sure nothing got sucked in there, and that there wasn't a bunch of dust on the grate or fan, and it was clean and clear of obstruction. Needless to say, I am disappointed in the quality of this power supply.
- Great power supply
     By A2TNYH2C3VNFYO on 2007-07-24
I purchased a new power supply as mine was constantly losing power and at the worst possible times. This new power supply is much nicer and more powerful than what I had and 2 fans is a bonus. I was able to print out step by step directions from my pc manufacturers website and install the new power supply in about thirty minutes. This power supply is also very quiet and at $40 a very good buy for the money.
- Cheap Chinese stuff
     By A2OXGU4BRQEWG9 on 2007-11-06
Cheap stuff made in China. What would you expect!!
Out of 9 molex connectors, 6 work. The rest 3 are defective.
Too much trouble to send it back, but this is my last Thermaltake.
- Unfortunately Didn't Work for Me
     By A17GXSSH9OLNCG on 2007-12-13
The fan in the power supply of my wife's computer started to make loud noises, so I ordered this as a replacement. Unfortunately every time I hooked up the hard drive, the computer would shut off a second after turning on. Didn't matter which Molex or SATA power connector I used (WD 250GB SATA HD). If the hard drive was unplugged, it turned on fine, but then it would say there was no hard drive... Yeah. I know. After a couple hours of frustration, I ripped open the old power supply and replaced the 80mm fan with an extra I had lying around. Computer runs just fine again (been a couple of weeks now). I expected more from Thermaltake. The motherboard is one of the Asus AM2 micro ATX boards (forget which one right now). It could also be responsible, since it's supposed to control what gets power, but it works fine with the other power supply, so I really have to blame Thermaltake on this one. It's the first time I've tried one of their power supplies. It looks great and has plenty of connectors (except it has no 6-pin PCIe connectors). I just wish it had worked.
- Awesome power supply!
     By ANHDOBZ4UL0UL on 2007-02-21
I bought this knowing I had to upgrade my video card and CPU to be in good shape for a Vista upgrade...minimum power for the video card was 420W. Power supply arrived promtply, was extremely easy to install (my [..]son helped!) and I'm sitting next to it right now...so quiet...so cool. Excellent purchase!
- Excellent PSU, Excellent Price!!
     By ATWM509SVUWZS on 2007-03-08
Nice PSU, quiet and do it's job. Now I don't have voltaje problems in my PC.
- Incredible!
     By AKJPEOIGNAQCY on 2007-06-01
I bought this PSU to replace my old 350w, as my PC was shutting off at unexpected times. The difference it has made is amazing. I didn't know why at the time, but before I had streaky lines on my monitor, where every other line was darker than the one before. Now that's all gone, nice and clear! Also, I use a 7.1 speaker system and an X-fi XtremeGamer card. The difference in sounds is also outstanding. As well, my "stutters" in the one game I've played so far, seem to have almost vanished. Frame rates seem, although not much higher, alot smoother. (Same FPS, fewer "pauses")
As for the unit it's self, it was easy to install and the cables are bound together in a neat fashion, reducing clutter inside the case. The black/gold colors are attractive, and this was the best priced unit I could find in this quality/watt range. Very pleased so far.
- OK power supply, cheap material
     By A3OJMPYN2GC2F2 on 2007-08-28
It's a OK power supply. Price is good.
The molex connectors are made of poor material, not solid at all.
It's not modular. If you put it in a small case, unused cables
will cram the interior.
- Dead On Arrival
     By A2ST3L1DOZKRUP on 2008-02-09
I ordered this power supply based on mostly favorable reviews here and at another site. Also, almost two years ago, I ordered one of these at another site for a friends computer in which the PSU had committed hari-kiri. That one has seen a lot of use and has worked flawlessly, so based on that, in the interest of fairness, I am giving this PSU two stars. I have just RMA'ed the one I purchased for a refund. It has the feel of a quality unit, aka heavy. Heavier is usually better with power supplies, indicating a quality build. It has plenty of connectors and all of the current connectors, all of quality construction. Not sure if Thermaltake's quality control has slipped, although if there is one unit in a hundred of an item that is a dud, I will get it everytime.
- All you need, for a home desktop.
     By A2FF0AWQD59ZX7 on 2008-02-17
This 430W unit is really all you need for a home desktop pc. I purchased one from a local computer store and 2 more from Amazon. I used the first one to build a 939 chipset AMD 2.1gig sytem with a SATA hardrive, a DVD-rw, and an nVidia 7300GS videocard. That computer has worked flawlessly for nearly two years, with no PSU problems at all. My newest build; is a AM2 chipset 2.6g AMD Athlon 5200, with another SATA hardrive, a XFX 8600gt video card, and multiple optical drives. This Thermaltake 430W is still more than enough to power it. It installs easily, it has more connections than I'll ever need and it's a very quiet unit. I have not had any problems or defects with the 3 that I've gotten. My only complant is that the 2 SATA connections are too close together (and I've also had to remove some of that bulky knitted nylon wire wrapping).
- Great Power Supply!
     By A1BXM0JA1ZOXO3 on 2008-06-19
I purchased the Thermaltake W0070rUC power supply as a replacement for the failing power supply in my eMachines T3256 desktop computer. The power supply fit into the computer fine and works very well. It appears to be a very high build quality, very quiet, and has a large number of power connectors and more than sufficient cable length. I highly recommend this power supply and you cannot beat Amazon's price!
- Best Bang for the Buck!
     By A1YRODJA6SA0NS on 2006-11-03
Wow! If my monitor weren't on I wouldn't know my computer was running, this power supply is quiet! Even when I had the air conditioning off in my house during the summer and temperatures were over 90 degrees F the high speed would kick in for brief periods and then go back to the super quiet low speed. I don't run a whole buck of graphics or do major number crunching, just run of the mill email and net surfing so I can't really attest to it's high power attributes but for my applications, the low price and quiet operation has made me a believer!
- Well Worth the Money!
     By AOXC3GHIWTRFR on 2007-01-26
Everything about this PS is great! Excellent quality for the price, works great! The leads are long & mesh wrapped which make it nice & neat looking. I really like how quiet it is!
- If it lasts more than 4 years, I'll give it a "5"
     By A1356VQYYRSM3F on 2007-02-06
Very quiet. The modular cords are kind of bulky, but my system runs about 6 degrees cooler. I'm very satisfied so far.

     By AZ863LNS1Q5RV on 2007-10-17
I don't know much about computers, but just for kicks, I decided to swap out the budget power supply in my computer and get this unit for noise reduction along with getting a quieter cpu fan... I am very happy I did... It is very quiet and much nicer to be around.
