Pediatricians recommend swaddling to comfort and soothe newborns, but loose blankets are difficult to keep snug. SwaddleMe wings have Velcrotabs, to wrap up your newborn and stay comfortably in place. As baby grows, wings readjust for a perfect fit. SwaddleMe wings are easily opened to prevent overheating, and the leg pouch can be popped down for a quick diaper checking or changing. SwaddleMe can also be used in the car seat, simply insert car seat harnesses through the access slits! MPN: 10113 - UPC: 750849101139

  • Baby Straight Jacket! I LOVE IT

    By A20JMD0BO0MXAJ on 2005-08-25
This is great. The only thing I dont like is that I dont like it up by their neck and worry about strangling so when I bring it down on the shoulders, although it is contoured, it doesnt always sit "right" .... all baby's are not contoured the same.

Michael loves to be swaddled and this does the trick. I bought 2 of them and we use each one 3 days in a row over PJs and then launder.

  • Amazing! A Must Have!

    By A2S2B4E679EI2T on 2005-07-08
I frequently read reviews here but never have had a product that was so great that I felt compelled to write one. My 5 weeks old son is very sensitive and overstimulated easily and the only way to calm him down is to swaddle him (tip we got from The Happiest Baby on the Block...I'd definitely recommend that book too). He is a big guy...12.5 pounds and 23 inches...and we were having trouble finding a blanket that was large enough that we could swaddle him without him wiggling out. I read about the Swaddleme and decided to purchase one since they were on sale. It is wonderful! We used it last night during his fussy period so that he could calm down and it was like he was a different baby! He smiled and cooed instead of screamed and cried! Then we put him in it when it was time for bed and he fell right asleep and slept for 6 hours!! (he usually sleeps for 2 1/2 to 3 hours at a time before he stretches and startles himself) We have the fleece Swaddleme and although some reviewers have said that it is too warm for their babies, it worked out great for us. We have the A/C on in the house at about 72 degrees and just put him in a onesie then swaddled him. He was very comfortable.

The one downside is that there is very little room to adjust it to fit your baby because there are only small patches where the velcro will stick. We are using a size small which is supposed to be for babies 7-14 lbs and 19-26 in. long and it just fits him. It works out fine for him since the swaddle should be snug but I would think that for babies on the smaller end of that scale that it might be a little loose and not as effective until they fill out a bit.

That being said, I am definitely going to go buy a few more so that we have another one for when this one is in the wash and a few in the larger size. I am also going to buy one for my friend who has a preemie as they come in a preemie size as well. Wish I had this sooner! Much easier and more secure that swaddling with a blanket. I plan to make it part of every baby shower gift I give going forward!

  • No more startle!

    By A2VI3R0GP7UJJR on 2005-11-02
My baby hated to be swadled in the hospital, but if he wasn't he would startle awake and we wouldn't get any sleep. Poor lil guy needed swadling, so I tired this and was instantly thankful. The stretchy fabric allows him some ability to wiggle and fidget, while containing any "spastic" startle reflex movments that would typically wake him up. This product is really wonderful. Make sure to dry it on low or it seems to shorten after a few washings.

  • Wonderful must have for those MUST BE SWADDLED!

    By AF2AUHYWK6MQK on 2005-12-11
My little boy is 4 months old and has been sleeping through the night since he was 3 months. The only downfall is that he would wake up in the middle of the night up to 4 times because he had come un swaddled. The blankets that are warm but thin enough to use as a swaddle were just too small and would come undone through out the night. I had seen this swaddle me pop up on amazon and say "buy me, buy me". So I did. I found the only Large one left on the shelf and brought it home. We used it the first night. Heaven in blanket form! He slept through the night and stayed swaddled! It uses Velcro instead of the weight of the baby to keep him all bundled up. Would so recommend for all those babies who just need to be swaddled. You'll love it!

  • Amazing!

    By ACEPBIC9G1UAT on 2005-02-12
Sleep beautiful sleep. Yes we have achieved it after struggling for a couple of weeks after our baby boy was born. I had a blanket given to me as a gift and it was way confusing even with its 1.2.3. instructions and it did not do anything for him, he was out of it in no time. The SwaddleMe was recommended to me by my friend after she had been using it for her little girl. What a life changer, it is soooo easy to use and he is now a peaceful sleeper without flailing arms. The directions were easy to follow and even reminded me to make sure the velcro was not loose during washing so it would not stick to everything else, we moms tend to forget those little things. I am now recommending to all parents with squirmy babies to get at least one of these, they will be so happy that they did.

  • Good but maybe short-lived solution
    By A2IJWIWOO65P4W on 2005-02-17
I loved the SwaddleMe blanket for the first few weeks. It's very simple and quick to use, and is cozy. However, at about 4 weeks old, my very active and often fussy baby was able to break out of it. He was gaining his strength just as the SwaddleMe's velcro was showing wear. I splurged on the Amazing Miracle Blanket (2.5-3 times as expensive as SwaddleMe) and it's worked much better.

If your baby is not particularly active/strong but likes a tight swaddle, the SwaddleMe blanket might be just the ticket. At $10 it may be worth a shot - and hopefully you will at least get a few weeks of good use (and sleep) out of it!

  • You NEED this!
    By A3B4E1ABZZS9HA on 2005-02-28
This is so wonderful for getting your little one to sleep thru the night. My sis-in-law bought one for me for MY birthday, and I still haven't stopped thanking her!! Mine sleeps about 7-8 hrs per night in this, and hasn't broken out of it yet. Side note to finding them in a larger size: try slumbersounds.com Get one, you NEED it!!

  • his product is a godsend
    By A392SJM27WBNWB on 2005-07-01
My son is three months old, and I still can't figure out how to swaddle in a normal blanket. However, because of this swaddle, I don't have to know. It is so easy to use, just wrap and velcro and it stays fastened. We started using the swaddle while still in the hospital, and the baby and maternity nurses all wanted to know where to get it. They wanted ones for their own babies and grand-babies. We started him in it early, so he doesn't complain about it at all.

In fact, my son loves his swaddle. We kept him in it a lot of the time for the first month, but now at three months mainly use it when he has a "five star nutty" where we need to calm him down, or when he is going to sleep at night. It calms him down, relaxes him, and makes him all ready for going to bed. He even puts his arms down by his side when he knows he's being swaddled. It has helped him sleep through the night without waking himself up by hitting himself in the face.

I highly recommend this product, and will be giving to my other friends who have babies. I just wish it was easier to find this product in the larger size - my son is growing out of the small size, and it is really hard to find the bigger size!

  • The best invention ever!!
    By ACH8CPDASUPJX on 2005-07-08
This was giving to me as a present while I was in the hospital. It made my life so much easier. I didn't have to swaddle him using the receiving blanket, which I wasn't very good at anyway. It was so easy to use and I got so many compliments from the nurses who constantly unswaddle and swaddle babies all day long. When my baby was fussy during the day all I had to do was wrap him in this blanket and he calmed down instantly. I was given so many receiving blankets for my baby shower because everyone told me babies need to be swaddled, but now all I use them for are burp cloths

  • PERFECT PRODUCT
    By A3II11FBFP4QHE on 2006-02-28
I JUST had a baby so writing a review is a totally amazing thing to do at this stage of the game - that's how much I love this thing. They should pass it out at the hospital. Regular swaddles come undone. This one stays in place and you can change a diaper without disturbing the arms, which is so important. Buy more than one.

  • I'm so glad they make this in a large size!!
    By A21VRMREEC1B1G on 2006-03-19
My baby outgrew the regular sized Swaddle Me at 2 months of age. I ordered this one and when it came in the mail I couldn't believe how huge it looked! We didn't actually use it until about 2.5-3 months since it was so big. We would fold the top down before we swaddled our son in this so it wasn't as long. At 3.5 months, our baby weighs 17 pounds so it's hard to find something to swaddle him with, and he still needs it. I hope he doesn't outgrow this one in the near future. I think he'll be one of those kids who has to be swaddled till he's 6 months old and this blanket should work.

  • This thing rocks!
    By A3KBDTI03WG16S on 2005-02-15
    The short story:
    * Well worth $10; I would pay A LOT more for it now
    * My baby has slept 8-10 hrs a night (up from 3-5 hrs)
    since we started using this
    * Need it in a larger size but can't find it in stores

A friend loaned us an older Swaddle Me a few weeks ago and I didn't get around to washing & trying it till a week and a half ago. I mean, we swaddle our baby every night with a nice flannel blanket... how could the Swadddle Me be that much better? Well, IT IS.

Leah (now 11 weeks, ~13 lbs) wiggled out of her swaddling blanket by the morning, and although I was thrilled that she was sleeping 5 hrs at night and in a way I enjoyed our 4AM feeding together, I was dreampt of the day when she would sleep longer. But what were the chances for an exclusively breast fed baby?

The first night we tried the Swaddle Me (aka around here as "the straight jacket") I was a little skeptical and hoped that it wasn't too tight. She slept 10 hours that night. And every night since then (the last 9 nights) she has slept no fewer than 8 hours. The 4 AM feeding is gone, and I think it's because my little wiggler doesn't wake herself up because she is seriously restricted.

The ONLY thing I don't like is that Leah needs the bigger size now and I can't find it in stores. I'm about to do an online search to mail order a couple sz L because I'm just beginning to feel human again and don't want to re-enter the world of sleep deprivation until baby #2 comes along.

I should mention that the Swaddle Me that we're using is an older model and has a different type of velcro, but I got a new newborn size one and they look functionally the same.

  • Nice, but needs to come in multiple sizes
    By A15L83FRRCVKWO on 2005-05-24
I really liked this swaddler, but it seemed way too big for my son as a newborn and that's when he really needed it most. He weighed 6lb. 12.oz and was 20" when he was born and couldn't fit into this until he was at least 10lbs. I had to use receiving blankets (the carter's stretchy fleece blankets seemed to work best for me) for the first two months. Once he was able to use it....WE BOTH LOVED IT! He didn't need swaddling much after 3 months so we only got one good month out of it. It's only $10 so that's not bad and it held up well in the wash (I washed it almost everyday that month too) It definately stayed on better than the blankets and the velcro holds very well. Just a tip though...be sure to put your velcro tabs together before you wash it or you will get it stuck to everything in the wash!

In a nutshell, they need more sizes to accomodate newborns under 10lbs., 10-20lbs. and even one bigger as another reviewer recommended for 4-7 month old babies who still need swaddling.

  • doesn't last long
    By A2Q6688HXYYQLF on 2005-09-07
The wrap works ok for a short while, but then my son - the escape artist - was popping out. The velcro pulled off too easily (from the wash), and the pulling at the velcro - when he started to outgrow it - either startled him or woke him up. There just isn't enough fabric for it to be practical.

This is a cheap imitation of the Miracle Blanket. Don't waste your money on something that doesn't last much longer than a swaddling blanket does. [...] Yup, its expensive, but my little guy was sleeping soundly and thru the night at 2 months with the real thing - and they were big enough to last him until 5 months old, when he weaned himself from it.

  • WONDERFUL LIFE SAVER!
    By AMTNBDLYJIJW3 on 2006-01-04
We've been going through a really rough patch with our daughter's sleeping habits. Lately she wants to sleep in our bed, and right up against us. She has been sleeping on her own, in her own crib for 6 months, and now, at 8 months, we've run into trouble. I bought a Large swaddler, and boom - she napped, and slept in her own crib again!! The softness and closeness of her being all bundled up - even her arms - makes her comfortable to be able to sleep on her own again. This is a major MUST have!! We love it!! I actually just signed on to buy another!

  • The large size does not work as well as the small
    By A3HPF6233485Y9 on 2007-01-12
If your baby likes to be swaddled this is a must have. Our son slept great in this swaddle blanket! I wish we started using it sooner because it was the only way to get him to stay asleep. We used this product in a size small for his first 3 months of life! He could not wiggle out of this blanket due to the velcro (unlike a normal blanket). I bought the large size when he grew out of the small. It was too big and didn't work as well because he was able to wiggle out of it. The small was worth the money but the large was a waste of money.

  • Practically foolproof!
    By A2RQMQPC32KVQJ on 2005-05-24
My son was a restless sleeper, waking up at the slightest twitch of his arms. The swaddler definitely controlled that aspect. He's learned to soothe himself to sleep now, and we only use the swaddler for naps (we use a sleep sock for night time). As a previous poster said, I do wish they had a more secure way of fastening it in the middle instead of the small velcro strip. Other than that, it was a lifesaver for a nervous first-time mother!

  • A must if you have a swaddle-needing infant
    By A1H0GTJFV97RBI on 2005-10-21
Tired of swaddles with blankes that always come loose? This product is the answer. The key: velcro. You may feel as if you are putting your infant in a straight-jacket, but s/he will be much happier -- and sleep much better -- for it.

You don't know the sleep that you may be missing.

  • New baby must-have!
    By A1ZEU6CYAD0HEX on 2005-12-30
Babies are very fidgety, even in their sleep, and their arms often flail around and they wake themselves up. My baby was sleeping through the night by 3 weeks of age, and I owe it all to this wrap. My baby was always wiggling out of the blankets, but this wrap kept her very snug. As others have written, the only negative is that babies outgrow the newborn size very quickly. At 2 months old, I bought the Large wrap (4-7 months old), and she has been using that ever since. While the newborn wrap was too small, she was "swimming" in the Large wrap, but still slept just as soundly. At 4 months old, she is just now filling out the Larger size. I highly recommend buying both sizes so you'll be ready for the transition. FYI: I only have the fleece ones, but they also make them in cotton for the warmer seasons.

  • This helps my son sleep through the night
    By AM4B1IMJMO5PC on 2006-02-14
We received the newborn size Swaddle Me as a gift, and at first it was too big. However, my son quickly grew into it and couldn't fall asleep without it. Now he's into the size Large, and I wish they made an Extra Large b/c it's also getting a little small. Pros: It's very easy to use with velcro attachments. You can easily keep him wrapped while taking his feet out and changing his diaper. It's warm, and he needs no additional blankets when using it. Cons: The velcro attachments don't always work that well, esp. the one that keeps the inside wing attached to the legs. Even when it is securely attached, he manages to kick his way out of it, but his arms tend to stay wrapped, which is more important for helping him stay asleep. Now that he's growing longer, I've been putting his legs on top of the bottom portion instead of inside it, just wrapping his arms, and this works great. I LOVE this product. I have four of them.

  • Sleeps like a baby
    By A21ZYMEW1T7F8F on 2006-07-10
This swaddler is great, my son likes to sleep swaddled. He seems to sleep so much better when wrapped in the swaddleme infant wrap. It even helps to calm him down when he is upset. Very easy to use, however, he has been able to sneak his arms out a couple of times. Great product despite this fact, I am thinking of getting another for when one needs washing.

  • Buy the gingham instead!
    By A2JW55VZG0A1NC on 2006-12-02
I *LOVE* this product. It's a far better velcro swaddler than the other brands because it uses bigger patches of velcro. In comparison to a blanket, this is much easier to use and provides much more durable swaddles. I'm quite good with a blanket, but by six weeks of age, my son could wriggle out. On the other hand, at three months, he's never wriggled out of the cotton flannel Swaddleme.

However, even in cold weather, the microfleece is too hot. Several times I've felt under the blanket to find my son sweaty. It's even worse when we combine the swaddle with a sling. On the other hand, the cotton knit (solid colors) blankets are too stretchy - my son quickly converts his knit Swaddleme into a toga, leaving both arms flying free. The cotton flannel (gingham prints) has less stretch than the other two fabrics, and plenty enough cover to keep a baby warm at indoor temperatures. It is trickier to find, but worth the search.

The microfleece Swaddleme does, however, make a great non-swaddle blanket on cold days, particularly when the baby is in a front carrier. The velcro is quite versatile.

  • Works great! (at first)
    By A1BSTTR9LE8X6D on 2005-01-29
We purchased the SwaddleMe after my 3 week old son kept wriggling out the blankets I swaddled him in. It worked wonderfully for about 5 or 6 weeks at which time the velcro stopped holding. Now it is worth nothing. Didn't anyone else have that problem? Is $10 worth 5 or 6 weeks of peaceful sleeping? Perhaps. You decide.

  • Absolutely love this
    By A1R7L03VWQ19AS on 2005-02-08
Our daughter is one of those babies that loves to be swaddled. She is 18 days old and hasn't used this in a couple of days, but the first week or so that she was home she was in one of these 24 hours a day. If we would have known how great they are we would have taken one to the hospital instead of trying to swaddle her in receiving blankets while we were there. I would highly recommend this. Just make sure that when you wash it that you make sure the velcro is stuck together. My mother stayed with us the first two weeks and that was her biggest complaint when doing laundry is that the velcro sticks to everything.

  • Love it!
    By A11UYZG7WRGP10 on 2005-03-30
We just had a new baby boy and I feel like a new mother! My older son is now 14 years old and boy have baby products changed since then! I seriously considered comments and reviews when deciding which items I wanted, which I could live without, and what was an absolute must have. So I hope you find my review just as helpful when deciding on your purchase. I love this swaddler! During a recent shopping trip my husband found it and thought it would be a good idea. I like to let him pick something out occasionally so I tossed it in the basket. I really didn't think we'd use it much. Boy, was I wrong! We use it every night. What I like most about it is the adjustable sides. You can make it as tight as you want and the velcrow keeps it in place. Which keeps me from worrying about the blanket moving up and covering the babys face or mouth. This is definitely one of our favorite purchases!

  • Get this item!
    By A25A59INPYHEDL on 2005-04-09
This is a great invention! I registered for the one in blue and ended up going back to the store to get another one in white to use when I'm washing the blue one. It's must less hassle than the receiving blankets. It keeps the baby warm without having loose blankets around to worry about. My son likes to have his arms out when he sleeps. So if he's resisting me wrapping him all up I just wrap him just below his armpits so his arms are free. Then his whole body is still wrapped up and warm. I would recommend getting one or two of these for your newborn. This along with that sleeping sack type thing are the best for newborns since loose blankets with have you worried about SIDS. This keeps the blanket totally confined. I would recommend this!!

  • terrible product - don't waste your money
    By A25CHYH0F8V2VQ on 2005-08-15
We bought this product because we only received one swaddling blanket from the nurses at our hospital. Plus, we figured that our son would not be able to wriggle out of something with velcro attachments. Boy were we disappointed. This blanket is so large and so loose that he can get both arms and his legs out of it in a matter of minutes. The regular size seems to have been designed for a 6 month old child, while the large seems to have been designed for a 1 year old! (i.e. up to 22 lbs!!!). This makes NO sense whatsoever as babies only like to be swaddled for 3-4 months at most. Who on earth designed this product? Do they know anything about babies? Our son thrashes about freely in this wrap even though he is only 9 weeks old, and in the 95th percentile for size! We have since learned how to wrap a swaddling blanket tightly and our son goes to sleep within minutes in the blanket, while listening to his soothe-a-sleep bear. I can't believe we wasted our money on two of these things. Maybe I can use them as cleaning rags ...

  • Pleased with product
    By A3TJKJ0FFA5X3G on 2005-09-13
As UPS was delivering the blanket my daughter was crying. I immediately wrapped her up and she was clammed and relaxed. The only downfall is my daughter can kick off bottom portion of the blanket with her feet. Overall I would recommend this product.

  • I just wish it were cooler here now
    By AKMIYAKM77NBT on 2005-09-20
My newborn loved to be swaddled in this blanket for the first couple of weeks, but she often ended up soaked to the skin in sweat even with the AC cranked up. If you live down south I recommend this product only for in the winter. It is very easy to use and incredibly soft.
