Cool Pad for Your Laptop By A1EG9GO3FMZXKB on 2006-02-23
I really like my Notepal. It keeps my MacBook Pro nice and cool. I notice how it gets quite a bit warmer when I take it off the Notepal. The Notepal is very light and cool to the touch. It has two fans in the bottom wich are extremely quiet. So quiet that I have put my fingers in the fan to see if they were running (yes they were and no I didn't lose a finger). The fans draw their power from the laptop through a USB port. The Notepal has an extra USB port so you don't lose any ports in the balance. My only complain and it is a very minor one is that the Notepal is a bit too narrow for my MacBook Pro, but since it cools like a champ, I am not too worried bout it.
I recommend it heartily.
GREAT Laptop Cooler! By A3CO8ZKKTSR5NL on 2006-02-14
My laptop's bottom gets very hot when I leave it on the desk. As a poor-man's solution I used two 1-inch tall mint tins (those round tin container that holds breath mints) at the back on of the laptop, one on each corner so that there will be enough airflow and the fan will be able to breath better. Well, it did slow down the heating process, but the bottom still gets very hot after prolong use. So thats when I decided to buy this product after research and reading all the reviews on laptop coolers. I must say, I am amazed by the construction of this cooler, not only does it look sleek; it actually cools the bottom of the laptop with two very quite fans. The bottom of the laptop was actually cold after prolong use! Very impressed!
Effective Cooling By A2QDMRRS47LNQ1 on 2005-10-26
Well thought out unit. Looked at many fans, chose this one because of the tilt it places your notebook at. It maintains the computer at a slight angle, good for ergonomics. Nice appearance, brushed aluminum. Two fans in upper third of unit provide cooling, plugs into a empty USB port. Fans are very quiet.
The fans are small--all cooler units are, so don't expect your computer to be *completely* cooled off. These are an assist, well worth it for an expensive notebook. I convert a lot of audio files to different formats which heavily taxes the CPU. I also run a desktop fan when doing this (Lakewood 12" fan). Before using the Cooler Master, I could only process files for about a half hour, with the notebook fan going in high gear. Using the Cooler Master AND the aux fan, I can process files for about two hours, without the notebook fan going into high gear. Worth the purchase, probably the best of the lot.
It works! By A9Z895C2K3QVU on 2006-07-09
I was skeptical... but my MacBook Pro was getting so hot that even with a beanbag lap desk between me and it, the temperature was uncomfortable.
I don't have one of those nifty laser thermometers, so I can't quantify the difference of the outside shell. I can say that the "Temperature Monitor" application notes a consistent 15-20°F difference between running with this thing and without it.
Solidly constructed, and very very quiet. You have to listen or fiddle with the switch to make sure it's running.
My only quibble is MacBook Pro-specific... I wish there were a cutout so I could open the latch without moving the laptop. Doesn't apply to my wife's MacBook (non-Pro), though, so this is incredibly minor.
Recommended.
NOTEPAL IS VERY COOL! By A1KPZ5F73HM2KJ on 2006-04-03
My HP laptop got very hot while sitting on my lap. I had to put it on a small board to keep from burning my legs. The computer would get so hot after prolonged use it would shut down! I purchased the Notepal Cooler and what a difference. The temperature of the laptop without Notepal would reach 151F. With Notepal, the laptop now stays in the 127F-133F range with no more shutdowns.
The two fans on the Cooler are very quiet. You won't even know they're running! If you have a 17" laptop you might want to get the new Cooler Master NotePal W1 Notebook Cooler (R9-NBC-AWAK about $45). The widescreen laptop fits perfectly.
- Many flaws
     By A265TQSGET3Z9O on 2006-08-11
There are quite a few problems with this unit:
1. it is extremely heavy and bulky, so forget about any portalbe or travel use.
2. As noted by other reviewers, the fans are very poorly placed, much to far back on the computer underside. The cooling is needed where your hands are!
3. There are models with 2 and 3 fans, and in silver as well as black.. I mention this because I did not find out until after I received mine and looked at the pictures on the box.
4. On a mac, the CD drive is completely covered up... could be quite inconvenient if you use it frquently...Again, not mentioned by the manufacturer as a caveat.
5. It is NOT noiseless. The fan may be so, but the fan motors are actually fairly irritating in their whine, in a quiet room. Others I have used have whisper quiet motors.
6. The aluminum against aluminum can definitely mark or even scratch or scuff your laptop..has to be used carefully.
Not really recommended.
- Just What Our Sony Needed..
     By A31SQEQ4WJOLLK on 2006-05-25
The cooler is well built. Not sure why Amazon doesn't offer the black anodized version though. We have a Sony laptop that's about 3 or 4 years old. Was sent in once to replace the power supply because it burned up. It's only used for internet access and occassional light graphics work. I've had it up on 5/8" maple blocks under the feet for more air access and the sony fan still goes into step up mode after just .5 hours of use. It shuts down all the time from the accessive heat.. until now. They really knew what they were doing in design. The feet of the sony extend over the back of the cooler so they don't contact the surface. This is good. Direct contact to the laptop surface at the back where the power supply is acts as great heat sink being anodized aluminum. It runs all day now without stepping up of internal fan. It has to be at least 30 degrees cooler. The laptop cooler gets warm which is normal. Towards the front there is a gentle bend in the platform allowing about 1/16 inch between laptop and cooler, this is where the fans airflow exhausts out the sides removing the heated air. Fans are quiet to say the least, can't hear them over the sony laptop's fan. They don't move alot of air, just what is needed to exchange. So it doesn't load the laptops power supply or battery even more to do it's thing. I was concerned about that. I was hoping it wouldn't defeat the purpose by loading up the power supply to turn the fans. Hooking up an ipod to this Sony usb use to shut it down in minutes. It has an on/off button.. leave it on. You won't lose any usb ports either to power it.
Kudos to cooler master. The product is well built and priced right. Every laptop user needs one of these.
- Fit cooler, nice design
     By A200AIPKKCI5WJ on 2005-08-21
Get this cooler your laptop will appreciate it. The iBook 14" fits exactly on this cooler, the only problem is that the open button for the iBook is covered by the cooler. The fans are very very quiet, you will not notice it at all. Get it if you need a nice simple and elegant laptop cooler.
- They Need to Say Which Exatly size it's for you
     By A3GM2ZSGGOADBX on 2006-06-27
Well, I got disapointed when I found the cooler didn't fit in my 17' laptop. Maybe I was too stupid when I didn't calculate it before to buy it. I hope that you can have put in the announce: Cooler for 15'or Cooler for 17'notebooks.
- Cooler Master Pro!!!
     By A2E83OI3RLUOVU on 2006-07-09
I use the Cooler Master with my 13" MacBook and it works great! It is the perfect size for the 13" widescreen MacBook. Its two fans are super quiet and keep my laptop running cool. It has a durable and ergonomic design with a smooth protecting film to prevent scratching the bottom of my laptop along with an extra USB port. The rugged aluminum design matches the MacBook's elegance!
The only small flaw I find is it's a little tricky to use the Cooler Master on your lap because clothing can sometimes interfere with the rotation of the fans; however it is perfect for your desk or table.
- My room fan works better.
     By A8KU0POBM99NH on 2006-08-10
I have a Compaq V4000 laptop with a radeon X700 graphics card. It runs some of the more recent games very well, but it usually gets very hot while playing them, and will frequently shut itself off due to it over heating. I found that using my room fan and blowing it directly on the computer would solve this issue, but it was loud somewhat distracting to have a fan blowing full power from less than a foot away. I needed a simplier solution.
After some internet research I discovered the NotePal Laptop Cooler. Enthusiastically, after reading several positive reviews, I purchased it hoping it would provide a much better and practical solution for my problem.
After getting the first thing I knoticed what it's sleek design, and how it comfortably elevated my laptop at an angle, which put a lot of stress off of my wrists, during use. I was very pleased with this feature, but I started to knotice how that the fans were positioned towards the rear, instead of the front, where most of the heat seemed to be generated.
Despite this possible flaw, I decided to take it for a test run, to see if, my laptop would be able to stay cool enough, and not shut itself off. I plugged it in, turned it on, and was very pleased to hear how quiet the fans were. I accessed the Prey demo, I had downloaded two weeks prior to this day, and started playing it.
Not long afterwards while playing this game I began to knotice the area between the touchpad and key board getting warm like it ussally does. I started having doubts wheather this product would actually do what it was supposed to. Five minuits later I could tell the laptop was getting significantly hotter. I decided to ignore it hoping the fans on the cooler would at least keep it from getting way to hot. This hope was diminished, however when five minuits later my laptop automatically shut it self down.......once again.....
Over all, I think the notepal is one of the best made designs, out of all of the Laptop coolers on the market. For my system, however, the fans are placed in a very poor location, and don't seem to keep my notebook very cool at all.
For the time being, untill Cooler Master redisigns the product to feature front end cooling, or I find an affordable cooler that cools the base of my laptop more evenly, I plan to stick to using my loud, noisy room fan, for my laptop cooling needs.
- Useless as a cooling device, but good as a laptop stand
     By AR1QSGYRSTNSX on 2006-12-13
I used this with my 15" G4 Aluminum Powerbook. I ran Temperature Monitor to display readings from all built-in sensors. When idle, the CPU bottom temperature was about 100. It would reach 140 when running a long Photoshop batch, at which point the built-in fan would kick in. I saw absolutely no change in temperature when I used the NotePal. Which is not surprising given the absolute lack of airflow space between the bottom of the laptop and the top of the fans, and fans which produce next to no airflow to begin with. I am tempted to replace the fans with real ones and power them with their own AC adapter instead of USB.
That said, the NotePal did tilt the keyboard and display to a more comfortable angle when editing photos with a tablet in front of the PB. Though it is a horrible angle for extended typing. And it is solidly constructed.
- For 17" MacBook Pro
     By A34S8UYUTKVK1Y on 2007-05-26
The NotePal is probably the best laptop cooler I've used so far. It's well built and attractive, matching my MacBook's metal finish. It doesn't pump out the air volume like some other fan coolers, but the metal stand acts as a heat sink and keeps the laptop noticeably cooler with or without turning on the very quiet fans. It's not quite as wide as my 17" MacBook, but still feels very sturdy. And I like the fact that the USB cord is not permanently attached, allowing you to remove it for travel or if you don't need the fans.
The only reason I didn't give the NotePal five stars is that the front -- which is fairly ergonomic -- covers my DVD drive slot and my screen clasp, so I have to lift my laptop to access these items. This criticism may only pertain to MacBook Pro users. Nevertheless, I like this cooler enough to buy a second one for my other office location.
- No noticeable change in cooling
     By A3H3HS5WRADW8I on 2007-11-03
Good looking design compared to other models, but doesn't do a lot to cool my laptop.
Also, fans are exposed on the bottom, so fingers, papers, bed sheet, etc. can get caught in them.
- It's OK
     By A33NPFR0JMO3L8 on 2006-02-19
Nice design and material. I really like the look. It definately helps in keeping the laptop cool.
- nice laptop cooler
     By A25OV4AIPUEQ8J on 2006-08-17
a very good laptop cooler... my laptop used to get really hot when i was working on it.... so, decided to get a laptop cooler... though a little expensive as compared to the counterparts, it is once of the best ones there which do the job really well.. now whenever i use it, the notebook doesnt heat up.. infact, the notebook fan is hardly running these days due to the presence of two fans on the base of the cooler. the cooler fans are really silent & u hardly hear them running.. also, the fans very safe in operation since i had my fingers touching them more than once & i still have all my fingers intact...
overall, if anyone is ready to spend a little extra on the chillpad, i would recommend this to them it they are going for a durable, sturdy, efficient chillpad..
- Good Sturdy Cooler
     By AHXBNK5PXSPFU on 2007-01-04
I bought the cooler for my Dell Inspiron which tends to get hot because I work it so hard - it's cut down the time the internal fan kicks in drastically, is very sturdy yet light enough for me.
So I bought another (wide-screen)(black) version for my HP Pavilion which has more RAM and so doesn't have to work that hard, now its internal fan virtually never kicks in.
In both cases the fan is so quiet that I have to turn it on/off to make sure that it is working.
The only improvement I would suggest is more usb ports.
4 stars because 5 is perfection.
- Aluminum's the thing...
     By A15F4MYRD9YQNL on 2007-01-05
1) This cooler/laptop stand does everything it claims. Within 15 minutes my laptop was reporting cooler temperatures - and better temperatures than with the plastic cooler i'd been using.
2) Cooling was enhanced however by reversing the fans (an easy process taking about 10 minutes). I personally think they work better reversed if your laptop has a very low clearance from the table to the bottom shell - using it on another laptop with a higher clearance showed it worked better with the fans in the original position.
3) After using a plastic laptop cooler I'll never return to them; the aluminum in this model adds to the cooling factor.
4) I found none of the problems with sharp corners mentioned in other review. The weight mentioned in previous reviews is considerably more, but one must remember it made from aluminum, not lightweight cheap plastic. I travel with it weekly and don't feel it's a hindering burden.
5) The ergonomic design of the wrist rest is lost on my laptop due to the large open area in front of the keyboard (Apple PowerBook G4), but the laptop fits perfectly and the aluminum design makes it look like they were made as a unit. Very stylish look actually.
Summary: Good product that does exactly what it states for a resonable price. Extremely happy with it and would buy another if needed. This cooler works! Just try reversing the fans if you feel it's not cooling properly.
- Perfect Tilt
     By A4DW092FST37C on 2007-04-03
When I was searching for just that, a nice tilt for my laptop, I came across a lot of contraptions. This does the job neatly and adds an extra bonus of keeping your laptop cool and giving you 1 xtra USB port (it has two,, but takes up one to cool you down). I read that it was too small for some 15", it is fine for my HP 15"...fits perfectly.
- Overall useful
     By AN5SFMQSMGZTM on 2007-05-30
The product does what it says - and it cools pretty good. I use my laptop through really long hours, and it hasn't disappointed me. Though there is a small shortcoming, the plate at the bottom should have a wire mesh of some sort (below the fans), to let the plate be used while you are sitting (to be put on your lap)-without it, you might hit the fans. Otherwise, the product is quite satisfactory.
- Defective upon arrival
     By A1ZG9WMHNMGY62 on 2007-09-05
One of the fans simply would not turn on. Defective, so it only gets 1 star. Maybe most are fine, but I'm rating my unit only. Back it goes!
9/9/2007 8:38 am- Update: Antonline, the seller of this product, has so far only replied to my refund request with an auto-generated "send it back to the manufacturer for warranty service" email. This is unacceptable. I've sent another email demanding a refund, but I'm getting a bad feeling about Antonline. I'll update this post again in a couple of days either with a positive outcome or a "buyers beware" warning.
- Great product
     By A3T0YSNOMRKRE0 on 2007-09-30
It is so quiet sometimes I can't even tell if it's running! And because my USB slots are on the left, and this cooler's are on the right, I can plug my mouse on the right and have more cord slack. Notepal works great. My ThinkPad no longer gets hot and turns off.
The cooler pad doesn't weigh much and fits nicely in my bag if I want to take it along. It also functions as a wrist rest. It's metal and feels very durable. The only caveat I have is not to use it on a soft surface like a bed or couch where the fans could be blocked. I always use the top of a TV tray.
I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to cool their laptop.
- Very faster

I was immediately impressed when I opened the box and saw how rugged and well built this cooler was. It is leap years above the competitor's laptop coolers. I have been using this for a month now and it works perfectly! Kudos for making such a great product!
- cool
     By AZXGPM8EKSHE9 on 2007-03-01
The aluminum conducts heat very efficiently out from the laptop. The fans just add to the cooling. It is effective.

     By A18MPQAUHNOA8K on 2007-03-15
I am more then 100% satisfied with this product. I was ready to get rid of my laptop because of the excessive heat it produced and poor performance after it was running awhile. This device does everything it claims to do. The aluminum base and fans keep the botton of the laptop cool to touch.
- Cooler Master NotePal Laptop Cooler (R9-NBC-ADAS / ADAK)
     By A1XB78S9GB311M on 2007-03-31
I have 15.4" widescreen LCD,Sony 80GB,1GB of RAM.
(beginning) the notebook doesnt overheat, but 30 - 45 minutes fans (variable RPM) which kicks in
drastically two or three minutes (freeze laptop) for cools down enough normal use.
I bought Tornado Notebook Chill Mat solved my problem; it is not on/off button.
It too small & made from plastic (it is cheap&flimsy).
What I thing Master NotePal Laptop Cooler; whole differed It has an on/off button.
Metal aluminum material absorbs heat quite well; nice design and material (not lightweight cheap plastic);
fans are quiet; solidly constructed, sturdy and is basically indestructable.
The notebook doesnt heat up, helps in keeping the laptop cool.
Summary: I would recommend this unit.
I am more then 95% totally satisfied (5% it's not 15". or 17 ". It is 15.4" widescreen)
- Love this!
     By AZMTLJG68V5M0 on 2007-04-08
I have an HP laptop that runs a bit hot. This product is great for keeping things cool. I highly recommend it!
- Worst product of the year award!
     By A2HJ1QLFV1T08D on 2007-06-21
Let's waste our money! :)
I was angry with this product. I loved the design and everything but, it failed to do what it was supposed to do, keep the laptop cool.
I turned it on for the first time and hit the "Power" button. I thought it was broken but, then I felt a small draft coming up to my face. I put my hand over the fans and it was blowing almost nothing. A sweat dropped from my face and I turned red with embarrassment. How am I going to explain this?
I told my self, it's ok. It'll work. I put the laptop on top of it and continued my normal schedule. What happened? I got even worst results than having no cooler! It overheated + crashed about 5 times in 2 hours!
I couldn't believe it! Those other reviews said it was great and that was the reason why I bought this! I thought the Aluminum would help it cool down even further but, I was wrong. It didn't help.
The only good thing about the product was the hand rest. That's all.
I would rate it "0" stars if we were allowed to.
In conclusion: Don't get it.
- Not cool enough
     By ATUEB513EF38E on 2008-01-20
I have a Dell and it would always over heat. I thought this would help, but it doesn't. I wish there was an option to increase the fan speed then it might work.
