  • Twice the "Trap", twice the fun!

    By ABH4G7TVI6G2T on 2005-07-03
Disney's THE PARENT TRAP remains one of the studio's most fondly-remembered hits. With Hayley Mills, Maureen O'Hara and Brian Keith leading the perfectly-realised cast, the movie has become a favourite of generations.

In THE PARENT TRAP, Sharon and Susan discover while at summer camp that the reason why they look so similar is that they were twins, separated shortly after their parents' split! The girls resolve to reunite their feuding parents by switching places and forcing them to meet once the switch is discovered. However, the twins don't count on "pluck-faced child-bride" Vicky (Joanna Barnes), who is quickly winning the heart of Mitch (Brian Keith)! A brief but quite eventful camping trip should solve the problem...!

In 1985, the Disney Channel made THE PARENT TRAP II, which brought Hayley Mills back to Disney for the first time since 1965, to reprise her roles of mischevious twins Sharon and Susan.

In the delightful first sequel, Sharon's pubescent daughter Nikki Ferris (Carrie Kei Heim) conspires to get her recently-divorced mother together with the father of her best friend Mary Grant (Bridgette Andersen). However, to acheive their goal, the girls must call in Sharon's twin Susan, who'll do most of the groundwork in getting the attention of Mary's father (Tom Skerritt). You'll adore this cute update in the continuing story of the twins' lives!

DISNEY TRIVIA: Nikki Ferris and Mary Grant are also the names of the characters played by Hayley Mills in THE MOON-SPINNERS and IN SEARCH OF THE CASTAWAYS...!

Disney has released PARENT TRAP II in a double-disc set with the previously-available Vault Disney edition of the original movie. Great vaulue!

Later followed by PARENT TRAP III, and PARENT TRAP: HAWAIIAN HONEYMOON (both are as yet unavailable on DVD).

I am a Disney phile. I love classic Disney fare.

The Parent Trap was a great follow up after Pollyanna for child star Hayley Mills. This 1961 classic used split screen better than ever. The supporting cast of Brian Keith (five years before he become Uncle Bill on Family Affair- when does that reach DVD?), Maureen O'Hara And Leo G. Carroll (Four years before he became a part of U.N.C.L.E-as in the man from!) works so well with the twin Mills's Sharon and Susan.

Most of the extra features from the Vault Disney version is here... except for the audio comments from Ms Mills and Direction David Swift. Unless you need the comments, the DVD is fine without it.

Twenty years later, Disney did a sequel, Parent Trap II. This wonderful comedy of errors happened so DISNEY-ish and works so well on many levels. Nikki and her friend Mary try to bring Mary's father together with Sharon. Enter Nikki's married aunt Susan to help Nikki and mary with their problem and the fun begins. The split screen effect is good, but not as good in the orginal trap. It STILL is pure Disney magic captured in a DVD

There are no extras regarding Parent Trap II... I know somewhere in the vault there is a 'making of PT2' feature, which is NOT on here. For Shame!

For children of all ages and fans of family entertainment, this DVD collection is great fun and rates high in my book

My beloved Parent Trap 2 on dvd after many long yrs of waiting.
I cant wait until they put PT3 and Hawaiin Honeymoon on DVD too!

Sharon and Susan are all grown up and have families of thier own.
Sharon has just gone through a divorce and wants to move to New York City w/ her daughter.
While at Summer school her daughter meets a friend and their antics are funny. Her friend's mom died a while back and they are trying to get their parents together so Sharon wont have to move.

Not as good as the original PT but still fun to watch.
PLEASE PLEASE make PT3 and Hawaiian Honeymoon available soon.

I Love the Parent Trap movies. For people who have never seen these movies, you have know idea what you have been missing. The Parent Trap movies start with Hayley Mills who I Love. Hayley plays twin sisters who are seprated at a very young age because their parents get a divorce only to meet for the first time when they are both sent to the same camp for the summer. There, after they discover that they are twins, they come up with the plain to get their parents back together by switching places so the parents after meet face to face to switch them back.
Partent trap II is about Sharon and Susan again played by Hayley Mills, are now grown up with families of their own. you will have to see it to find out what happens. i love this movie the best.

  • Finally on DVD!!

The Parent Trap 2 was one of my favorite movies growing up! It was a Disney Sunday Night Movie YEARS ago, and my family taped it off the tv...we watched it over and over until it broke!!! No one could replace it! I am so excited it is now on DVD..can't wait to watch it again!

    Your family will love it!

  • Disney + Hayley Mills = magic
    By A3PSSUCT53OX2Q on 2006-05-07
The original Parent Trap is one of the finest family movies ever made. Hayley Mills plays 2 early teen girls, and these are great realistic performances of girls of the early 60's, not cutesy movie kids. There is also some adult humor that went right over my head when I saw this movie as a 6 year old - the look on Brian Keith's face when he sees Maureen O'Hara's bra and assumes it's the property of his 13 year old daughter is great.
As for the sequel, it was good but it had a little too much "cutesy kid" and not enough Hayley Mills for my taste.
The features are very good. The people interviewed all seemed to have liked each other and the project they made. The writer/director David Swift was a soft spoken, humble man who made a little masterpiece.

I am so excited I just can't stand it. Now that they have finally got on the ball for the 2nd movie I'd like to know when they will be getting out the 3rd and 4th ones.

  • Finally
    By A1BYJ67YYCO8E on 2005-12-14
I was very surprized and thrilled to see that The Parent Trap II finally came to DVD. I've been looking forward to this for a very long time. I can't wait to see the third one come out. I hope it won't take as long as the second one.

  • The original is wonderful but the sequel is ehh.
    By AT96SLPLXIJ1V on 2006-03-10
I purchased this for a report I had to do, and I could'nt find it anywhere except on amazon. They were polite and shiped it fast.

The original movie ,as you all know if you have seen it, is wonderful, but I can't say the same for the "sequel". The "sequel" is about this girl, Nikki Ferris (Carrie Kei Heim, who's mom,Sharon(Hayley Mills), want's to move because of her recent divorse. In the middle of packing,Nikki must go to summer school, where she ends up meeting her soon to be best friend,Mary Grant (Bridgette Andersen). Nikki, who does not want to move in the first place, conspires with Mary, who's mom recently died, to get their mom and dad together so Nikki wont have to move. The two girls must get Nikki's aunt Susan,(Hayley Mills), in on the deal to pull it off. This "sequel" is basicly the same as the original but has a different scenerio.

The reason I am puting sequel in quotations is because was already a sequel and another movie after that about Susan and Sharon meeting this dad of triplets and one of them ends up marrying him. In the movie after the sequel they are on their honeymoon in Hawaii, where the girls of course come along. These two movies are way better than the parent trap "sequel".

Bottem line if you like the original you should get this dvd. Besides you may just like the "sequel".

  • Awesome
    By A14ZB7KNY8ML0G on 2006-03-27
I'm a big kid Disney fan and the Parent Trap has always been one of my favorites. Halley Mills is wonderful playing twins and Brian Keith and Maureen O'Hare are what acting are all about. I can't count how many times I'm seen this movie but I've finally made it part of my collection my buying a copy.

  • Great Family Movie
    By AU0X2NLCTDZXX on 2006-06-28
The Parent Trap is a great Family Movie. Parents, along with their Children, will enjoy the great fun this Movie provides. I grew up watching it, and still to this day don't get tired of viewing it. It's a classic!

  • One (two!) of my all time favorites!
    By A2ROUFTBIYXUXZ on 2006-07-30
I love all of the Parent Trap movies - the original one with Hayley Mills as the twins; the newer version; Parent Trap II; and Parent Trap III. :)

My old "taped off tv" tape of II and III is wearing out and I'm anxious to find it on DVD! Are they even out in video format?

I'd love to hear interviews with the girls, where they are now and how it was filming back then with Hayley Mills and Bostwick.

  • The Parent Trap: A True Classic
    By ADS4S2JI2P0DI on 2006-08-14
I just recently finished watching this delightful movie. I was a little surprised at how much I laughed during it. I wasn't expecting it to be all that funny. But it turned out to be quite enjoyable. It seemed a little on the long side, but if you don't focus on the length, it's entertaining. I haven't watched The Parent Trap II yet, but I probably will a little later. This was only the second movie I'd seen Hayley Mills in, the first being Pollyanna. I thought she was amazing. That's not to say that I didn't like any of the other performers. I think that Maureen O'Hara was a little better than Brian Keith. I would be amazed if anyone gave this movie less than four stars.

  • YES, FINALLY!
    By AMH7NSHQ71H82 on 2005-12-08
Finally, a great movie from the 80's that we only got to see on occasion on the disney channel. I remember as a kid being glued to the TV everytime it came on. Carrie Kei Heim & Brigette Andersen were two adorable actresses from the 2nd film. (RIP Brigette Andersen, she passed at a young age.) And well, Hayley Mills no matter what age she is, will always be a legend..and definitely still a beauty.

Well on the first half of the film, we see the twins in the original Parent Trap. (Hayley Mills times 2!) I don't think there are many people out there who haven't seen this film or are at least aware of what it's about.

In the second (which I spoke of the actors earlier), we see the twins all grown as adults. It mostly focuses on Sharon, and her daughter Nikki. Nikki, who can't bare the thought of moving to NY & leaving behind her new best friend, Mary Grant. So together the two young girls scheme up a plan that will ensure no matter where they are, they'll be together.

  • Awesome movie, classy and hysterically funny!
    By A39H4GYPL9SQCS on 2007-02-11
I bought this movie for my 8 and 10 year old boys. They loved it and were in awe of the quality of the plot and the jokes. They expressed envy that their mom was raised during an era where really wonderful movies were made.

  • Nostalgia
    By A1LRMZNIG3EFY1 on 2007-02-16
This was my daughters childhood favorite, so I was thrilled that I could purchase it for her for Christmas! She was very excited. Quality is good and definitely worth the smiles.

  • Parent trap good, Parent trap 2 cheesy
    By A17Y32T0O4R3IM on 2007-02-18
The original movie, like so many originals, is the best. Fun movie. The second one is pretty cheesy. The first one was definitely worth the price.

  • Parent Trap II is terrible compared to the original
    By A1VX1ICZM27U27 on 2007-02-22
    Ugh,
I loved the first one... a childhood favorite...

The second is really pretty bad. Acting is bad, lines are bad, too much pop culture referencing the 80s icons...

Buy the original without the sequel...

    By A2EZ8JBIVSNIZ6 on 2006-11-10
Excellent! The Parent Trap (1961) is a movie that I always loved as a child. I still enjoy it very much today and am now able to share it with my family. We both love The Parent Trap II as well. Excellent Disney classics!!!

  • The Parent Trap(1961) & The Parent Trap 2(1986) 2 movie collection
    By A3B8RIAAEBMYWD on 2006-11-10
I really like this one. The original is best with the twins being seperated. Another great Disney Movie. I like Haley Mills and she does great playing twins. the way they team up to get their parents back together is great.

  • Go for it children
    By A10Y8I6JUBO5SZ on 2006-11-11
Enjoyed the movies very much. There are not enough good movies made for children. As a children story writer I wish 'they' would use some of my stories and turn them into movies.
    Anybody listening????!!!!!
    God bless

  • Fun for Girls of all ages
    By A3920KWKLH2N0Y on 2006-11-12
I am 35 years old and got tired of watching this movie on the Hallmark Channel with all the commercials. I finally broke down and purchased the version with the sequel so it would appeal to my eight year old niece. Just as I thought she liked the older version best. We watch it everytime I babysit. I must have seen it at least 50 times and its always fresh and new as the very first time.

  • Originals are always the Best!!
    By A19UAYHQTRIN0Z on 2007-01-03
Growing up in the 1950's and 1960's, my husband and I saw the Original Parent Trap with Hayley Mills. Our children only know the version with LIndsey Lohan.... We purchased this set and watched it with our grandson who absolutely loved The Parent Trap! The sequal, Parent Trap II was as most sequals are : OK, but not as great as the first. still entertaining though. I would recommend this movie to anyone.

  • Great Movie
    By A3VL4O3ZKI5D55 on 2007-01-04
I really liked this dvd. It has both the old and the new and some comments on the making of the old and the new. My 8yr & 4yr old really enjoy watching this.

  • Parent Trap II is disappointing
    By A23XOZNW3AOOO0 on 2007-01-06
Although we loved the original Parent Trap, Parent Trap II doesn't come close to the quality of the first. Viewing once is tolerable, but it isn't one of those we'd like to watch over and over.

  • Happy with what I got
    By A3K5Q756ZQJLWM on 2007-01-09
Very happy with the product and timely receiving of it.
