Sleeping Queensx$5.66
    (40 reviews)
Best Price: $9.99 $5.66
Imagine a place where there?s a queen of all pancakes, a king of cookies and a pack of over-protective dragons? If this sounds like something out of a dream, it actually is! Sleeping Queens was invented by 6-year-old Miranda Evarts, who thought up the game one night when she couldn?t fall asleep. She awoke the next morning and with help from her older sister, Madeleine and her parents, Denise and Max created this wonderfully whimsical world of napping nobles. As you immerse yourself in the Evarts? fantasyland, you will find a game that helps develop memory, strategy, and elementary arithmetic skills. Just be careful when playing potion cards or you could wind up putting all the players to sleep! Rise and Shine! The Pancake Queen, the Ladybug Queen and ten of their closest friends have fallen under a sleeping spell and it's your job to wake them up. Use strategy, quick thinking and a little luck to rouse these napping nobles from their royal slumbers. Play a knight to steal a queen or take a chance on a juggling jester. But watch out for wicked potions and dastardly dragons! The player who wakes the most queens wins.

Suprisingly fun By A1NY24FBMV47BW on 2006-01-29
Santa brought this for my nearly 7 year old daugther, and it was her favourite toy, and you know how kids can be drowned in toys at Xmas. Her 4 year old brother is still to young to play it, but he likes to play on mom's "team" and play all the "good cards" out of mom's hand. It is great for a family that has little prince and princesses in their house. Mom enjoys the fact that there is a bit of math involved and is still is very fun. What amazed me was the fact that a non-electronic toy holds their attention for so long. The kids even chase each other around the house with knight/dragon or spell/wand king/queen cards acting out pretend play. I think another reason why this game is so popular in our house is that there is one-on-one time with Mom - I use it as "bribery/incentive" for many occasions...."clean up your toys, make your bed, help your brother, be brave in swimming lessons... and mom will play sleeping queens with you!"
This toy has paid iteself back 10 fold. I would highly reccomend this card game. Another card game, Rat-a-tat-cat was also a winner in this house too.
boys love it! By A3MV6MGLJNALQ7 on 2006-08-01
I bought this card game as a good travel game, and also because of the theme! However, before I could even read the directions, my boys 8 and 6 grabbed the deck, picked out their "favorite" queens, married them off to their favorite kings, and began acting out voices, characters, and battle scenes! They had a fit when I asked them to put the cards away(now all over the house in strategic positions). Great story of the little girl who "dreamed" the game up with her family! We should all do more of that! I'm buying more for Christmas gifts for all the cousins - mostly boys!
The Best Card Game! By A5ARCXX9WPW4A on 2006-11-06
We bought this for our then 4-year-old - and at age 6 it's still his favorite game, and one of ours too. The aunts and uncles even ask to play it when they visit. The cards are fun and colorful, the game is fast and is even educational in that it helps teach them math and strategy, without having to know how to read. Lot's of competition over stealing the favorite queens as well.
Great for families By A2W946JTJ73OES on 2006-03-13
The Sleeping Queens game was given to my daughter from her aunt for Christmas. It has really caught on with our family--it's a card game, but it adds the enchanting components of queens, kings, knights, jesters, dragons and more. Even I, as a parent, love to play this game with my daughter. Simply put, this is a game that we simply don't tire of playing. It was so popular with one of her friends that we gave her a set of Sleeping Queens too. I'd be curious if other similar products by the same company are available.
Sleeping Queens By A3L3BJX6UAP1UR on 2007-01-18
This is one of the funnest card games - we are hooked! It seems that every time we have a moment it is playing sleeping queens. The only problem we have found is that in playing with more than 3 people it ends up that no one can win and still play by the rules of the game. There needed to be more cards - 3 or 2 people playing it works great - add more than 3 and you end up in a fix. We do enjoy this game. The other thing is in just a few weeks we have worn the cards out - maybe if the materials used did not scar so easily. It is not that we are not taking care of the cards it is just that they start to lose the print around the edges on the tops so then you can start to identify cards. Otherwise, again I say we really have a lot of fun playing this game.
- Good for boys, too!
     By A2G3VVLI1F8FAE on 2006-07-07
My six-year-old son received this for his birthday from his cousin (also a boy, who wasn't quite six at the time). The game appeals to boys since in addition to queens, it features kings, knights, dragons, sleeping potions, and wands. Number cards are used for simple one-digit addition, which many children now learn in kindergarten, so I think that the game is appropriate for children from toward the end of the kindergarten year on up. The combination of fun characters (brightly illustrated), strategy, and education make this game a winner!
- Great fun -- another winner from Gamewright!
     By A2C3ZTNSL0T2CV on 2007-05-25
This game is a lot of fun and is a frequent choice for our family game night. Gamewright is very, very good at designing games that are enjoyable for a wide age-range. Sleeping Queens is mostly luck, but with just the right amount of skill/strategy for younger players (our 6 yr. old loves to consider each move carefully). The cards are attractive and the 'hook' is appealing. The instructions are clear, if slightly more complex than the average kiddy game. However, after one or two hands, the kids caught on. It's a fun enough game that I don't groan inwardly when my kids ask to play 'just one more hand' even if we've already played for half an hour or more. I do wish that Gamewright would use sturdier materials -- the cards show wear pretty quickly -- or provide replacement pieces for a reasonable cost. Because we play this so frequently and enjoy it so much, I'm giving it 5 stars despite the durability issue. Highly recommended!
- Excellent Family Card Game
     By A2T75XQ2ZUTTWT on 2007-06-07
This game is very popular with my 4 1/2 year old and 6 1/2 year old. It's also an enjoyable game for parents to play along. At the same time I'll add that it's certainly not a game my wife and I would play on our own without the kids. But it's an excellent family card game.
The box says ages 8 and up, but if you throw out one minor rule that involves addition, your 4 year old will learn the rules after about 3 or 4 hands.
- wonderful learning card game
     By A19PTCBBJ98EF1 on 2006-10-29
This card game is alot of fun ecspecially when you had enough of -go fish-:>..I was a little hesitant because of the recommended age of 8 my girls are not quite 6 yet, but after reading the reviews that a 6 yr old created the game i went ahead and play it with my girls, and to my surprise they had no problems understanding the concept of the game and the meaning of the cards, actually their father took longer on grasping the concept of the game than they did.:> My girls love this card game and so do I..
- Cute Game!

My little brother got this in his Christmas stocking, and we tried playing it the next day. The instructions seemed complicated at first, but we figured them out pretty easily and had fun. The kings and queens are very cute, and it's kind of fun to think up complicated math equations using more than three cards. I also like how the six year old girl and her family made up this game. I don't really know what ages it's for, since Amazon's reccommended age is 8-14. I'm almost 12, so I'm right in the middle, but it still seemed a little like it would be better for younger kids. Anyway, Sleeping Queens is very cute, fast, and fun, and I would reccommend it to families who are tired of all the basic card games.
- Our kids love it!

Bought this game for my 8 yr old daughter last year. She and her then 4 yr old brother loved playing it. The 4 yr old even asked to play it when his sister was at school. Didn't realize it was going to be educational too- teaching addition is a plus for the younger one. The pictures are cute and fun. We as a family really like the game. We took it on a trip to visit family and the cousins (boys 8, 5) enjoyed it too.
- This game was a big hit!
     By A1ZTE9PY1MOH3Q on 2006-12-01
I purchased this game after reading the previous reviews. I have a nine year old son and a six year old son. My nine year old LOVES this game! We played it over and over during the Thanksgiving holiday. When I first read the instructions, I thought there were too many and it would be too complicated. No. They understood all the rules! My six year old isn't ready for the mathematics play option, but he loves the dragons, knights, sleeping potions, etc and we let him play.
- This game is fantastic!
     By A1I1OT85MNLRNT on 2006-12-28
Santa brought this for our almost 8 year old daughter. Last night we sat down with her and our 9 year old son and could not get enough of it! We played an "open hand" to learn the game together and then went after real games. Even my husband loved it and I see us playing this a lot in the future. It's very quick to learn and play as well.
- Fun, enjoyable game for the family
     By AZ020VHUUKXYK on 2006-12-28
I bought this game to play with my 5, 7 & 9 year old nephews. It was easy for them to learn and understand. They didn't tire of playing it and kept asking to play another game. Best of all, the 7 year old had just as much chance of winning as the adults. I was a bit disappointed in the quality of the cards, as the graphics began to rub off around the edges after only one day of play.

Very fun, easy to learn and great if you only want to play for a few minutes!
- My daughter loves it, and every game by Gamewright!
     By A1J6SANPPZALJU on 2007-05-16
My daughter got this game for Easter, and we've played it daily for the past 5 weeks. The artwork on the cards is terrific, as is common with all the Gamewright games, the creativity in the queens and kings terrific, and the fact that adults can play repeatedly and not get bored is wonderful. My favorite part about these games has to be the fact that my daughter is learning something in each game, the games are easily portable, and the reasonable price allows us to collect them all! My daughter was only 5 when we got our first Gamewright Game, but she has easily been able to play Sleeping Queens, Rat A Tat Cat, Moose in the House, Chomp, Slamwich, & Leaping Lizards!
- Wonderful Game for the family
     By A1RYXD19WYNURB on 2007-08-23
My daughter played this game in school, and mentioned it to us and we searched for it in many stores with no luck. I order the game on here and got it quickly and sense we got it we play it every night before bed. The queens are beautiful and the kids enjoy pretending to protect their queens. Sleeping Queens is a Wonderful game would recommend it highly.
- kids love it
     By A1APBUGWQB6M00 on 2007-01-03
My kids (6 and 3 1/2) love this game. We have played it almost every day since we got it (a month ago). To make it easier, we play with open hands, and we help our 3 1/2 year-old with the math. My son was already pretty good at math, but now adding numbers less than 10 is becoming automatic. The game is nice because there aren't too many options, so friends can get the hang of it quickly too.
- A Whimsical, Fun Game For All!
     By A26MCLLB6RJEKV on 2007-01-06
There isn't really much I can add to the rest of the glowing reviews, but I will try. Santa also put this in the stocking of my 7 yr. old daughter. We opened it on Christmas day, and have played the game nearly everyday since then. It is easy to learn, the pictures are adorable, and the whole family loves it, even my 9 1/2 year old son! We enjoy picking out our favorite queens, and ranking them when the game is over. Also, it is a quick game-perfect for right before bed! Buy it, you won't be disappointed.
- Great Fun!
     By AGL3EZQOSBPVU on 2007-04-10
I bought this game for my 9 year old and it has instantly turned into a family favorite. This game is very fun, fast paced, and can be played multiple times in a row so all can enjoy winning!
- Great game intro for families with children
     By A14NZ4TGWZDASX on 2007-06-01
We learned this game from our 9 year old granddaughter, and liked it so much that we ordered two more sets for our other grandkids. The rules are easy to learn, they allow for a little strategy, and yet the luck factor allows the kids to beat the grandparents, too. The mechanism involves simple arithmetic, so the players are reinforced in the numbers learning they're doing at school. All in all, a great little 10 minute game that bears replaying many times and allows all ages in a family to play together.

Our family loves this game. We bought it as Christmas gift and we have almost worn out the cards. Lots of fun and the kids have to do math in their head--BONUS! We even purchased a set for my son's first grade classroom.
- We LOVE Sleeping Queens!
     By AGKP7HJ7UR7YH on 2007-11-05
This is my sons very favorite game. Our family has many Gamewright Games and never tire of them. Gamewright games are fun for adults as well as kids. I think playing these games from a very young age helped both my children with math.
- Best gift we've gotten!
     By A1FSBNCZ1UO46 on 2007-11-06
We received this card game as a gift and my daughters (ages 9 and 7) absolutely love playing it. We recently gave it as part of a birthday gift to a 9 year old friend and she told her mom that it was the best gift she'd ever gotten. We've spent countless hours playing this card game. It's very easy to learn and great for developing math skills.
- Absolutely Wonderful
     By A1BP92HVM6FQ9R on 2007-11-08
My friends and I (all ages 20 and up) LOVE this game. We all have our favorite queens and kings, and our least favorite (poor Rainbow Queen).
We changed parts of the rules, and now the numbers can be turned in with multiplication, subtraction, division, and algebraic equations (eg 7+3=4+6). Definitely a favorite all around, one I play with my friends at college and at home with my 17 year old brother!
- The definite favorite for the kids

With a ton of kids in our family I have seen so much fun had with this game. Its my favorite gift for kids, they just love it!
- This is an amazing game, worth owning and keeping!
     By A1Z90W7G05IFO1 on 2008-01-27
It is a fun game for all ages, and it never fails to entertain. Game rounds are short, from 5 to 10 minutes. The game is easy to pick up, and yet can be a good arithmetic tool for children. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a simple fun game to play for up to 6 players.
- My five-year-old loves it
     By A1FM7T8BA36SLQ on 2008-03-16
My five-year old and I have been playing this game for a few days, and we both love it. Very well designed game with a great theme for the kids. Other reviews have described why very well. Just wanted to share that since my daughter hasn't learned addition yet, I substituted out the rule that required it with another. When we play you can discard cards that are in sequence (i.e. 6,7 or 2,3,4); this doesn't affect the gameplay at all, yet allows a younger child to enjoy it.
- Can be a Fun game for Adults too~
     By A3IXCEFHK9HT5V on 2008-10-16
I first picked up this game because the artwork of the cards seem nice but to my surprise, it's a fun little game that requires a little elementary math skills and luck. My ex-boyfriend and I enjoyed playing a round of Sleeping Queen right before bedtime after a stressful day.
It is simple and perfect for a couple to play but it can definitely become playfully competitive to steal the Sleeping Queens from each other!
- Great game to play with the kids
     By A1GMOQ5U75D96U on 2007-03-18
As always, a cracking good game from those fantastic folk at Gamewright. We bought this and the Ugly Doll game from them at Christmas, easily the most popular toys in our household over the holidays.
