Made with Palm Oil By AYOMAHLWRQHUG on 2006-04-27
I see no reason other than profit that the manufacturer would use cheap palm oil in a product being marketed as a health food. One bar has 25% of the maximum saturated fat you should get in one day. Why not substitute a monosaturated fat that will lower cholesterol rather than use one that raises it?
I also don't need it to be loaded with vitamins and minerals as they are easily taken in a daily pill. Additionally, the texture is like day-old uncooked brownie mix. But it tastes OK relative to other health food bars I've tried and has 10 mg of protein which is good.
Might I recommend instead Clif Bars that taste better, cost almost 1/3 less per ounce, have 70% less saturated fat, 60% more fiber, less calories in a bigger bar, and taste better.
I don't support the war, but I support Hooah (and the troops)! By A2KZIB4PP5TXYC on 2005-10-01
I randomly encountered this energy bar when I bought some rare Ghanaian highlife CD, and noticed this under "customers who bought this product also bought...HOOAH!" I almost fell on the floor from laughing so hard.
Then i got serious. I'm an energy bar afficionado- since I play soccer first thing in the morning, I need to cram in some quick carbs. But I can't risk eating a proper meal, which might make me throw up after sprinting down the field.
This bar tastes fantastic, and I can attest to the energy kick- I got through *two* games and almost scored a goal! And I have absolutely no eye-foot coordination!!!
From the label: "The battle cry 'Hooah!" is a cornerstone of military culture. It communicates energy, affirmation, can-do spirit, teamwork, and fearlessness. Soldiers shout it as they jump out of helicopters, storm beaches, and freefall behind enemy lines. It means anything and everything except no."
My only hope is that more people eat this so the price comes down.
Tasty, But..... By A1BMHR5OF8A2AE on 2006-06-16
I was offered one of these while cycling and thought it was very tasty. So good, in fact, that when I got home I went straight to the web site show on the back of the wrapper to learn where I could buy them. Just above the web address is the nutrition and ingredients list. That was probably a mistake on the manufacturer's part as it gives you something to read while the site comes up. OOPS! This bar has a whooping 25% of your daily allowance of saturated fat! Not only that, but the fat is palm oil.
This might be acceptable for a soldier involved in prolonged strenuous activity but I doubt a cardiologist would recomend it to most of us. A commercially formulated product is more likely to fill the average person's need for a lower fat (and healthier fat) energy bar, than one formulated for extreme physical activity, sold for profit and marketed as a patriotic tribute to the troops. Bottom line: Read the label, weigh the health risks and if you want to support the troops, there has to be a better way than eating Hooah Bars.
I would not go anywhere without them By A3C89R0GWF43CJ on 2005-07-10
I was just in South Africa and had taken a box of Hooah bars, in case.
I ended up eating one sometimes two a day, the food in Africa being often too spicy for my taste. I ended up loosing weight, having sustained energy throughout a pretty grueling trip and many hours jet lagged.
Somehow, it helped me maintain a great attitude and a positive onlook throughtout my trip. I don't know if the bars had anything to do with my mental clarity and overall emotional balance...but I really think it did...I will never travel without them.
Energy and taste- Hooah! By A249JM2IH0RNGZ on 2005-07-12
Sent a couple of these boxes to a buddy of mine in Iraq. He loved them so I got some for myself. Best tasting energy bar I ever had.
- Five Stars for TASTE :)
     By AS38Y9W6BS6DA on 2005-10-08
I like both flavors of the HOOAH! Energy Bar. I especially love the chocolate. And yes, I see that the first ingredient is corn syrup, so it's a sugar, however I also see that real chocolate is used :) The bar gives me energy, it tastes GREAT--which is something I truly CANNOT say about a lot of other bars---It is NOT MESSY, not covered in chocolate, but rather the chocolate is in the recipe, so it's in the bar itself, and not on your hands or clothing. In my "chocolate lover's opinion" a "HOOAH!"-of-a-lot better! in taste than some other bars. It's a great energizer, and it tastes great. Mission accomplished. And for fans of anysoldier dot com who might be sending packages to U.S. Soldiers, it's nice to toss a couple in a "snack" package...or just send a whole box. I like this product! And I even like the silver packaging too.
- Great Taste

Good energy. Good cause. Great taste. What's not to like?
- Urban survival bar
     By A1W698FYHZ94N9 on 2005-10-05
Although developed by the military, this bar isn't limited to the battlefield. It is great for maintaining a steady supply of energy at work, and especially while traveling on business. It really shines when you have to skip breakfast or lunch, are running for your plane, under pressure to meet deadline, or are simply stuck in hours-long meetings -- all while having to maintain your edge. The energy is consistent, steady, and doesn't drop off when you least expect it. Plus, it tastes great, with a light crunch and real chocolate flavor.
- I find it very tasty!
     By A2IQYLC0X2ALOP on 2005-08-21
I wasn't able to test whether they really provide energy boost, as fortunately I don't get too worn out, but I really like the taste. Though a couple of my friends are vary about it, saying it's not 'great' but rather 'edible', I strongly disagree. Anyway, I recommend that you buy at least one box to try before you stock up on the mucnhy goodness! Try the apple cinnamon tasted ones too!
- best bar out there
     By A265CJZHMNISTT on 2005-09-17
Since I heard about the hooah bar several months ago, I have been relying on it - in both flavors - to supplement my busy schedule. I need quick, efficient, good-for-me meals. I've tried most bars on the market and couldn't stand either (1) the taste, (2) the texture, (3) the price, or (4) the aftermath of those other bars (some bars left me hungry or just disatisfied, other bars gave me an unsettling rush ... ) The hooah bar tastes great, goes along well with morning coffee/tea, is reasonably-priced compared to many bars and actually provides me the meal-replacement sustenance I need. I love them! (I would recommend the apple cinnamon for breakfast and the chocolate crisp for afternoon snacks.)
- THE BEST!
     By ASQ096D5VGH8C on 2005-09-17
Hooah bars are the best and they actually do what they ay they do....give energy that is LONG lasting. I eat them while biking and hiking or for lunch when I am in a hurry. I highly reccomend them!
- not just for jocks
     By A2K7K14NXR63VA on 2005-10-21
I'm a 59-year-old woman, and these bars are a godsend! I don't notice any difference at all until I get in the middle of doing something and realize that I haven't had to stop to rest, or I do something and still feel like doing something else. It's no exaggeration to say they've changed my life.
- My 2 year old loves it!
     By AXL88HHS2LXS8 on 2005-09-21
I keep one in my purse and it comes in handy not only for me but also for my 2 year old when she needs a snack. She loves the bar! They are great especially on long drives for both of us.
- military food that tastes good
     By A2DWXWIZQSNJDO on 2006-02-27
I first tried this bar when I saw it on the counter at a 7-Eleven and needed a snack to get me through a meeting. it tasted sorta like a chocolate brownie, with the texture of a $100,000 bar-- without the sugar high and crash.
On the next 7-eleven trip, I bought 2 of them. But I accidentally left the one I didn't eat in my black car when it was 82 and sunny. I was stunned that it retained it's texture, shape, taste. So I ordered a case and i've noticed, they're easy on the stomach. (Normally energy bars give me... side effects.) So now I have one before I run for 5 miles and I don't feel as tired afterward.
I didn't realize the military had scientists working on food.
- hooah these are great!
     By AUDW7C4OU174Y on 2006-02-27
I've had some decent protein bars but the chocolate crisp hooah bars are sooo good. The flavor reminds me of a chocolate macaroon. The texture is super chewy. My only problem is that I can't stop eating them. The price on Amazon is really good. These bars go for $2.50 to $3.00 at health food stores. You can get a box of 15 for $21.00 on Amazon. If you buy 2 or more boxes you get free shipping. Check them out. They are worth it.
- Really disappointing
     By A3V6933TT5ZXXI on 2006-04-26
I purchased a box of these after reading the 5 star rave reviews. Sorry, but these remind me of the first generation Powerbars. You have to chew them so much your jaw aches. I will not buy them again. The taste is tolerable. If you want a good tasting and good texture energy bar, try Clif bars.
- Great Stuff
     By A21WY82OVILUQ5 on 2006-07-25
These energy bars are different from any we have tired. We love the chocolate and the peannut butter. They really are great. Last weekend's golf tournament never would have been so easy in the Texas heat without a couple of these to give us the strength.
- great energy bar
     By A2S8M6KXCN19GP on 2007-01-18
Tried these 2 years ago when Bassmasters had a tournament in pittsburgh. They had them as free samples been hooked ever since. Gives you that needed extra boost but doesnt have a down like coffee. Great product our whole family uses them.
- The best energy bar for travel
     By A1UF8CBOVTZ3JW on 2006-02-27
I travel a lot on business, the HOOAH! energy bar is the best - it is the only one that can survive in a briefcase for days or even weeks and then be instantly in hand and then consumed and enjoyed. If the army can take it to Iraq, then I can certainly take it to Korea, Taiwan, and yes, even to the heart of Silicon Valley - San Jose.
I highly recommend this bar for anyone that is looking to stash some food in their briefcase/luggage for those times when you are unable to get enough to eat or need some extra energy.
- Love Love Love these huge bars
     By A3JL2IYUOWYGE8 on 2006-04-14
I so love these, and I can tell I got little more staying power! I think I will continue to buy these, there are a real snack. Filling.
- The Best Energy Bar
     By A2MD8MMKRGNYS2 on 2006-11-15
I first tried the Hooah Bar about six years ago.
They were purchased from Ebay and had been stolen from the army.
After going through the ones I had, and unable to find them again, because
of the second Gulf War. They were all shipped overseas!
I use them for surfing, and they are better than any of the other
power/energy bars, for sustained energy. But, what also places them well
ahead of the rest is the fact that you can throw them in a vehicle during
the hot summer, 100 degrees and leave them for a week. Open it and eat it. Try that with a PowerBar, and you have chocolate milk!
- Not a fake review - AMAZING product :)
     By A1WVIGZ0UEA1Y0 on 2007-03-07
Ok - I've been a swimmer for almost half my life from age 7-21. I Have used power bar and a load of other bars after they came out. With that being said I have tried a lot of those bars and have tested their effectiveness in a practice and competitive scenario. I no longer swim and do Jiu-jitsu now several times per week. I noticed using lots of other bars there really would be a high n crash where at the beginning of class Id be more revved up and about 45 min or so into class id be not just tired but worn out and feeling that rigamortis type lactic acid solidifying my body and going into defense/recovery mode. After trying Hooah over powerbar, various energy bars and even a few protein bars, I can honestly say that it really does not let up and it doesnt make me feel like im on a high, just ready to go... no stopping.
I must say that Hooah 30 min before training and Gatorade during training is REALLY a boost (as opposed to hooah and water) but Ive done energy bars and water and Gatorade with other energy bars and all permutations of other items but honestly Hooah has been working. Im not associated with them nor am I with the armed forces. Im am an athlete that is so darn impressed with this stuff that I was actually on Amazon to see if it caught on more and maybe the prices were going down cuz of people buying in bulk... I love this stuff. OH.... the taste... that really is the best of ANY bar out there too including odwalla or any other supposedly good tasting nourishing food bar. :) Good stuff.
- Almost like "no-bake" cookies
     By A31JRGF82LTIK5 on 2007-03-09
Do you remember those "no-bake" cookies that are easy to make with oatmeal, peanut butter, and chocolate? Well, these bars taste almost exactly like "no-bake" cookies. I'm not kidding. They are great! I first had them at Philmont Scout Ranch when I was working and hiking there a couple of summers ago. Well, these bars are hard to find at just any store, so I'm glad that I can order them at Amazon. I have tried other brands of energy bars and they just aren't as good. Most energy bars taste OK for one or two bites, but quickly begin to taste like cardboard. These are good from the first bite to the last. My husband loves the peanut butter flavor and I love the chocolate crisp, but we'll both eat which ever we have on hand. We buy several boxes a month as we are both avid bicylists and hikers.
- An excellent energy bar that supports the troops
     By A1KRMOZ3TF9Q3Q on 2006-01-31
I can't find anything to dislike about this energy bar. Good consistency, good taste (I've only tried the chocolate crisp), and delivers sustained energy as advertised. Plus it supports the troops! I may buy it again even if it's not on special!
- Tasty snack
     By A312RCZSLNZIV1 on 2006-05-08
I really like these things. They're certainly chewy, so they can be a bit of a jaw workout, but they taste pretty good while having a lot more nutritional value than a candy bar, and they keep you going for a couple of hours. If only they were a little cheaper, say a dollar or less per bar, I'd probably go through them a lot more quickly than I do right now.
- Troop Approved
     By AATJ8SMLCYLCO on 2006-05-31
I love these because they're delicious and just the thing for getting me through a long workout. They're also perfect for traveling...easy to pack, and sustain you during an all day hike or touristy walkabout. A friend of mine in Iraq says he eats them twice a day, for the taste, and also because--and I agree--he trusts an energy product designed by the military for soldiers much more than an energy product designed by a private company for profit.
- Great energy bar
     By A1UQIZ773VMBNF on 2006-08-25
Easy to open package, tastes good, stays fresh after opening and not using all at once, does what it's advertised to do.
- Good, Could be a little better.
     By A1LNE0D6VSEULN on 2007-01-05
Decent protein bar. Has a slight aftertaste. Holds up to heat better than most chocolate type bars.
- Quick Energy and Great Tasting
     By A10239AJ07AUVQ on 2007-06-03
Wow, if you need energy then you have found the right product! HOOAH! I have to say great bar is a no addictive addiction! Not only are they good for you but the chocolate flavor excites your tastes buds. This unique product will help you think, move, and do everything faster and better than before! Well, maybe I'm exaggerating just a bit, but it really does give you an energy boost.
- Excellent energy bar
     By A41HOWSICHX31 on 2006-07-02
Bar tasts good and delivers an energy boost that lasts. Much much better than eating candy bars. Excellent buy and better for you than candy bars. I will continue to buy this product.
