Best Price: $74.95 $49.95
From The Seattle Times: "When I saw it, I thought, 'Wow, this is really impressive,' " said Julie McAferty, a Swedish Medical Center childbirth nurse who reviewed the software and found it "really thorough." "It allows parents to go in-depth as much as they want." Dr. David Loren, a neonatologist at the University of Washington & Children's Hospital, found the course layout "very intuitive." "There's a sense of progress both from a learning perspective and how labor itself progresses, I would recommend it to any mom or dad. Childbirth Multimedia is a computer-based educational program created by a family physician who has delivered babies more than 15 years, a registered nurse who teaches childbirth classes, and multimedia developers. Its eight lessons include: 1. Your Last Weeks of Pregnancy (relaxation techniques, breathing, exercises, labor induction), 2. Early, Active and Transition Labor (breathing techniques, comfort measures, timing contractions, medical interventions, fetal monitoring, analgesics), 3. Pushing (breathing methods, pushing positions, episiotomies, forceps and vacuum use), 4. Delivering the Placenta (expelling the placenta, massaging the uterus, cord blood testing), 5. Special Situations (cesarean sections, breech and multiple births), 6. Postpartum Care of Yourself (physical changes, diet, exercise, sex life), 7. Care of Your Newborn (bathing, colic, cord care, diaper changing, sleeping, spitting up), 8. Feeding Your Newborn (breast feeding instructions and demonstrations, expressing and storing breast milk, breast care, formula preparation and feeding, feeding cautions). Each lesson includes: text; images; video clips of physicians and nurses with parents and infants demonstrating key concepts of delivery, infant and mother care; and optional self-assessment. The Resource Kit contains: a dictionary, Birth Plan templates, Doctor visits templates, Baby shower planning, Birth announcements designs, Baby name, and a video of an actual birth.

A great guide to expecting moms By A30SPY6PGKN9E4 on 2005-11-04
I have just finished my first go through a terrific childbirth CD. It's the only childbirth class I found that's interactive. I liked being able to skip around and I liked the self-tests at the end of each section. I'm sure I'm going to go back to the breastfeeding and baby care sections after my baby is born. I'm not so great with computers but this software was really easy to use. My partner and I are going to do our birth plan next; again, the program helps you think it through but makes it easy to have a finished plan. All these pictures and videos made me so excited, I can hardly wait to have my own baby.
An incredible help for every pregnant women. By A1RICCD06I9QQX on 2005-09-12
This interactive multimedia childbirth CD is amazing!!! I found everything I needed in it in order to help me go through my delivery with less anxiety and stress. I could sit down, read or look at the video clips on childbirth exercises, feeding and bathing my baby and learning about my mental and physical recovery. This CD was a great help for our childbirth experience and taking care of our newborn, it took me step by step through every stage of the pregnancy and after. I was even able to print birth announcements. The video clips were the best; it was like having a nurse around the clock, very comforting. Highly recommended! A must get for every pregnant women.
Excellent resource for pre- and postnatal information By A35TD6837E2300 on 2005-12-17
As a second-time mother I found this course invaluable. It was an easy and convenient way to refresh and test my knowledge before the big day. The user interface was very intuitive and provided methods to switch quickly between topics. It provided me with tools that gave me the confidence to deal with the challenges that come with each birth experience. The diagrams and photographs were very clear and informative. I particularly found the birth plan checklist and printout very valuable; it helped to structure my labour preferences clearly before entering the hospital.
A Great Refresher for Third-Time Mom By A5H9L2JL83FSQ on 2006-02-17
Three weeks ago I gave birth to our third son. His two older brothers are 9 and 7 years old. A long time has passed since they were born, many things have changed and I didn't remember all the details. I felt a need to refresh my knowledge regarding preparation, birth stages, breathing, etc.
The "Childbirth" software helped me a lot, and in a more interesting way than birth-preparation books. The video clips provide excellent how-to demonstrations. The software also helped refresh my partner's knowledge, and made him more ready and involved in preparation for the birth.
"Childbirth" was also helpful post-partum, refreshing my knowledge regarding basic care and breastfeeding. Even now, three weeks after birth, I still refer to the software as a resource when I have a question.
I have no doubt that for first-time moms who have never been through this, the combination of reliable, balanced professional information, and video clips with demonstrations and real birth stories told in first person, will be even more helpful.
To sum it up: a great software, and you won't be sorry you bought it.
Unbelievable software By A1AVJLY5W27X45 on 2006-02-10
I just found out that I need to be in bed for the rest of my pregnancy. I am due in six weeks. I was therefore looking for a childbirth class I could take from home. I found the Childbirth software, and I thought it would be
great to be in bed with my laptop. This software seems able to provide information about any problem you have concerning childbirth, the post partum period, and baby feeding. They even provided birth announcements you can design yourself. I love it!
- Excellent!

Perfect for expecting Parents. This is the first product I found that covers the whole childbirth class, baby care, mom care, and breast/bottle feeding. All in eight lessons. You can read the text, watch the video, listen to the doctor, or learn from the nurse. The dictionary is very helpful, and an interactive self-assessment summarizes each lesson. It was perfect for us!
- Huge help for every pregnant woman

This cd was so helpful to me. Extremely informative about childbirth techniques, and the postpartum. I would recommend it for all new moms to be!
- Love this Product

I look forward to having the time to really sit down and sink my teeth into this, but I have skimmed through it and am very impressed with the amount of information enclosed here. I especially like the fact that the product includes video discussions and demonstrations, and easy to navigate chapters and pages. So much information here it's almost overwhelming. As I am coming into my final weeks prior to my birth, the timing of this couldn't be better. Thank you Modus Five!
- very convenient

I am very happy that we purchased this cd. My Fiance is a State Trooper and his schedule has been very hectic over the past couple of months with overtime. So, it was difficult to even schedulle a birthing class that he would be able to attend even half the classes with me. This cd was also nice, because it includes everything (it is the equivilant of attending 3 different classes). Also their are cirtain lesssons that you can wait until after your baby is born to review; that will help with the care of your newborn. That way it is still fresh. There is alot of reading, so for those that hate to read, this might not be for you.
- not bad

Alot of great info. However, when I got in the delivery room I only used the techniques I learned from the Laugh and Learn Lamaze DVD.
