GustBuster Pro Series Gold 62-Inch Golf Umbrellax

(18 reviews)

The umbrella of choice for touring golf pros, the GustBuster Pro Series Gold 62-inch golf umbrella keeps you dry wherever you roam. The umbrella boasts an innovative, patented double-canopy design that shields up to two people at once, along with an all-fiberglass frame with solid, round, rustproof ribs and spreaders. As a result, the Pro Series Gold is capable of flexing with the wind then returning to its original shape. The thick wall construction, meanwhile, is extremely strong yet much lighter than most comparably sized umbrellas on the market. Most impressively, the umbrella is wind-tested to 55-plus miles per hour at the College of Aeronautics, with aerodynamic vents in the lower canopy letting the wind pass through while the upper canopy keeps the rain out. A favorite of PGA, LPGA, Senior PGA, and Nike Tour professionals, the Pro Series Gold umbrella measures 62 inches in diameter and carries a lifetime warranty.

  • Best umbrella ever!!!

    By A3MHFYEAULN52 on 2005-10-01
This umbrella really lives up to its name...GUST BUSTER!!! I bought a black one from skymall.com (around $40) a couple years ago and used it while I was down in the caribbean going to school. The strong winds down there would invert most other umbrellas but this one wasn't even phased by the wind. The flap system they have on this thing is genius...all umbrellas should have that. Hope this review helps, Chris

Update: get the same gust busting effect for much cheaper at Wal-Mart.

  • Not just for golf...

    By ADMWYMH11LD27 on 2006-11-24
I don't play golf, but that didn't stop me from picking this umbrella up, as I was sick and tired of cheap 99 cent store umbrellas that would break so easily.

This umbrella is indeed huge, but since I carry a laptop backpack with me almost everywhere I go, I wanted something that would keep it dry during the rain, even though the backpack is water resistant.

I've been outside in rainstorms with this and it just laughs at the rain and wind. I see other people's umbrellas buckle under storm gusts, even flipping inside out, and yet this thing, with its amazing flap system, stays intact, and I just hear the wind rustle through the flaps.

My only complaints are that the handle isn't as comfortable as it could be, and since it's a 62-inch umbrella, it's very tall, and can't fit in a backpack like a mini-umbrella.

Otherwise, I love this thing, and its lifetime warranty, and I should've bought this sooner. Well worth the extra upfront cost to save in the long-run, and I won't be smashing any umbrellas against the side of a highway overpass in the rain after it keeps inverting due to high winds. (yes, this happened to me, and yes, drivers started looking at me strangely)

UPDATE: After about two years, my umbrella broke. I was able to send it back to GustBuster, along with a check for $10, and got a replacement shipped back to me. The annoying part was finding a mailing tube large enough however, the USPS' longest mailing tube was about two inches shy of being able to fit this umbrella into it.

  • Excellent umbrella, durable and lightweight.

This is an excellent product. It is a family size umbrella (it covers my wife, the baby stroller and me), and the build quality is very good.

  • Worth every penny.

Besides using during rain storms, it works nicely blocking wind on cold days watching outdoor sporting events.

Firm & Sturdy. I own one of these for about seven years now, and the umbrella is still going strong...

    This is a true GustBuster...

  • it's huge and durable
    By A70FS3B47AA0R on 2006-12-30
It might be a bit big, but if you're over 6 feet tall, you need a big umbrella. Works great in gusts. Had it for over a year now on the east coast and it still works great.

Exceptional build quality. Lightweight for its size.

Golfing in the rain? No problem! Handle fits into the Sun Mountain Speed Cart (push cart) umbrella holder.

Would recommend the 68" version for golf.

  • It really does live up to the hype
    By AH2MLENQ0LWT1 on 2007-06-01
Thank goodness, my best umbrella tried to smile (and busted). If it hadn't I wouldn't have found my GustBuster--a cool-looking, lightning resistant umbrella with a patented system of vents that is, the manufacturer claims, "wind tunnel certified to 55+ mph." I went out one night in winds that were up to 20 miles per hour and tried turning the thing sideways and it just would not pick up any air--it really does work amazingly well. The holes in the inner surface seem to neutralize all of the typical suction. The version I decided on for my all-weather walking is labeled a "golf umbrella" and is big enough for a small wedding reception (I exaggerate but 62 inches is certainly big enough for me and the dog). The price is right--a bargain for a good umbrella. If you're concerned about weight (this super-sized version weighs close to two pounds) there are smaller, lighter versions. On their web they say the GustBuster is very popular with professional golfers--seemingly, a good indication of long-term quality and performance. Also comes with a limited lifetime warranty. I'm impressed.

  • One very fine & highly-recommended umbrella
    By A1DPF30AHZ97RO on 2008-04-06
I, like many others, read a considerable quantity reviews of GustBuster umbrellas and nearly every one was favorable. Ordered mine thru Amazon, which as usual was quick and efficient. My GustBuster arrived just in time for an Illinois wind and rain storm. My 62" barely flexed in the 20-30mph wind, and its a big bowl-shaped umbrella, versus a flatter style of the lesser-quality umbrella. As you unfold the umbrella, you can tell this is a quality product throughout and they have the confidence to offer a lifetime warranty. How many companies are willing to do that ?? A very, very fine umbrella and I highly recommend them.

  • Monster umbrella does the job
    By ARXGKOCF0G0UB on 2008-06-01
I work in the city, and was using one of those super-tiny fold up umbrellas. Unfortunately, the wind gusting between buildings would "flip" it out with even a minor gust. It really made the umbrella a mute point. So, I decided to purchase an umbrella that would last me the rest of my career (or, at least as long as I work in town!)

PROS: The gust-proof design certainly lives up to the hype. Even with relatively severe winds, the umbrella doesn't ever "flip".

CONS: Almost embarrassing to carry around because it is so big.

OVERALL: Great umbrella. Definitely does what it is intended to do. Could easily cover a couple, and maybe even a kid to boot.

  • Wish I could give it more stars.
    By A2IBDTAQUO9UI8 on 2008-07-17
I love this umbrella but mine came defective. The thing which holds the umbrella open will not extend all the way unless I pull it out with a pliers. I tried lubing it but the "thing" still wants to stay partially retracted. I contacted gustbuster and they wanted me to ship it back at my own expense and include a check for $10 for shipping it back to me.

I only paid $20 for it because it was a promo overrun so I didn't feel like spending the same amount of $$ to get it repaired.

That said, it is a magnificent umbrella as far wind goes. I held it outside the cart wide open and had my partner drive as fast as possible and the umbrella did not invert. It is also very lightweight.

I am going to buy another one and I hope it will stay open. The first time it collapsed on me I thought I got hit by a meteor or a golf ball
because it closed with such force:-)

  • The Perfect Umbrella
    By AQOHTXHVFFRXH on 2005-09-15
I originally got this for the golf course. It's size helps to keep me and my equipment dry. What makes it great is that it hasn't inverted once in high winds. When others I've owned have, this one keeps working.

I also use this when I'm at college. Like the golf course, I do a lot of walking. This umbrella does a wonderful job and also keeps my backpack dry. Its size may make it a bit big for one person, but it is worth it for what it does (and it usually gets someone to ask me if I can share it with them).

    By A3JKI0TRX4YWVW on 2007-11-25
Got this to keep in my office, for when it's already raining, when I go to the gym/pool at noon. Works great, keeps me dry - much better than a compact umbrella. (I had a golf umbrella, lost a tip from a tine on the first use, lost another soon after, basically dead.)

Also got the Metro, to carry in my bag.
