Better than my 1st one but still lacking By A3994I7QSH56US on 2006-06-29
I just started to learn drums and I bought a cheapo metronome for $17 and it was fine for about a month, then I needed something to help me keep time with different notes and rhythms and this has just about everything I need for that. Problem is you really cannot hear it to well when practicing so now I have to get some headphones. Even practicing on a pad takes some concentration to hear it. If I had to do it again I would have saved up a little more money and bought the big one. My cheap $17 one is 3 times louder than this and I have no problem hearing it, but that only really does 1/4 notes. All in all it is a nice item but wish it was much louder.
Excellent, versatile metronome, convenient, small, great price By AQUBBC0LCQJ2I on 2006-12-12
Price is comparable to metronomes with far fewer functions. Big plusses for me were the good woody click tone instead of electronic beep, adjustible volume, easily adjusted tempos (either tap out or select the tempo), mute button (so you don't have to turn it on and off to pause), reference tone (for tuning up). Multiple rhythms may appeal more to drummers... far more than the rest of us will need. Easy to use for basic and more advanced functions. Did I mention that the price is excllent?
Very good item By A3CHS44X10N9JK on 2006-11-09
This item is very useful for my every day drumming needs. It has all the necessary features that a good metronome should have at a fraction of the cost. Great item. I love it!
Very, Very Nice! By AE2A4S84M2RUY on 2007-12-16
Folks, this does it all. Choosing your tempo is quick and the "tap" feature is huge when making a big time change. It provides both audible (click) and visual (lights and meter) timing cues.
The mute is helpful to quiet it down while still using the visual timing queues and the device retains it's settings when powered down so next time you begin right where you left off.
This device covers various time signatures and I love its ability to sub-divide timing. For example, you can set your main click to 80bpm AND also have a sub-click occurring based upon a fractional note (e.g. eighth, triplets, sixteenth notes, etc.). Very cool!
Works fine, but hard for kids to work on their own. By A32H23EEG9L72O on 2007-12-18
I bought Roland Dr. Beat Metronome after reading reviews on Amazon. My sons needed one for their piano practice at home. I figured out how to use it without the instructions, but my sons have brought it to me a number of times when they have gotten it into the wrong beat sequence, so they have struggled more with figuring out the options. They are 8 and 10. I am hoping after a little more time with it and a little more help they will be able to use it fully without any help.
- Handy, functional device
     By ALDA72MNSJVOK on 2007-12-27
In teaching myself guitar, I found myself learning the notes and melody but not necessarily being a devotee to keeping accurate time. To realistically gauge my progress, I decided to buy this metronome. It comes highly recommended on various guitar sites like Musician's Friend, Zzound, etc. and having used it, I think the reviews are accurate. You can configure the rhythm, beat AND tempo and with it's compact size, it's more functional than comparable models. The only negative I have is the "beep" tone - as a former violin player, I'm used to the old school "click" sound of traditional wooden metronomes. But then again, I can't clip one of the old wooden metronomes to my music stand, now can I? ;-)
Highly recommend.
- Just what I needed
     By A341HT6WHXS0YJ on 2007-10-21
I had a class with Bass legend Bill " the Buddha " Dickens and one of the many things I needed to have was a metronome. I have had a super mini taktell from willmer for about 35 years. Since Bill is known for his regimented and lenghty training sessions, I needed to have a metronome that could run ALONG time, produce various time signatures on the fly, loud enough to hear over a bass guitar, and strong enough to deal with the rigors of travel. FOUND IT!
- Excellent

It all works as advertised. It's easy to use. I keep it clipped to my music stand.
- Great for the price

No more to add, "Great for the price"
- Inadequate
     By A3PD2U5OR5NRYS on 2008-02-05
There's no volume adjustment, and no way to adjust the click tone, which is a high-pitched electronic bleep. The bleep has a definite pitch to it, which is a problem if you are playing in a different key than the metronome is bleeping in.
