Burns perfectly; no coasters! By A291XTI6NO7DEG on 2006-01-06
I am burning these discs on a Lite-On LH-20A1S and a Sony DRU-810A, and they work flawlessly. Maybe it's the fact that they are on Sony's compatible list for the drive or that they are quality discs, I don't know. But what I do know is that the picture quality that I got from my copy was PERFECT. NO PIXELATION, NO DROPPED FRAMES, and NO PAUSES. A perfect burn.
I ran the Verbatim discs through DVDInfo Pro and it came back with write speeds of 2.4, 4.0, and 8.0 (see picture.) The box mine came in says "up to 6x speed," so you MIGHT be able to push it to 8x with a high speed drive.
For everyday, general consumer use you should find that these discs will give you a high quality, dependable burn. Some may ask if they are archival quality, and I have to say that my guess is 'no.' Unless the disc specifically says "archival quality" then I would assume that they are standard discs (which have been found to deteriorate over time.
I highly recommend these discs for your approved DVD+R DL burner. (Remember to check the media compatibility of your drive BEFORE you purchase these discs or any other disc! See your drive manufacturer's website for details.)
Burn, baby burn! By A1OMXVXXP07F05 on 2006-03-23
These discs are fantastic. I just purchased a 16X DL burner and I've had such great luck with the standard Verbatim+R, I went for the DL disks.
My first burn was fast and flawless at 8.5GB.
You can't go wrong here!
So far, so good! By AJO9MIULW76H8 on 2005-11-27
I am up to my fifth spindle. Zero coasters so far. I am using the Sony DRU-810 dvd burner. I am very happy with these.

I looked up your DVD Player & it didn't say it supported Duel Layer DVD discs so that could be your problem.
As for me, I'm using an HP-DVD640 and these work great for me so far. I've used 5 already and no coaster which I'm thankful for cause they aren't cheap when you buy the 3 packs offline.
I've done both Data and Movies with them & they are great!
Great Disc so far By AH4HNG7JT4YDM on 2006-03-09
I have a HP lightscibe and have had a successful burn on my first try. I am new to movie burning but I only have a sofware issue right now (DVD Shrink doesn't recognize that I have a DL disc) Nero 7 works great for these though.
- So far Verbatin DL DVD+R is the best
     By AF2SVA4N3HYXK on 2006-08-30
I have tried many brands, some shows unstable playback of videos when a lable is placed on the disc. So far Verbatin, even with lable, shown very stable playback. This is provided you record at 2.4 speed eventhough some drive give you the option of using hihger speed, which I do not recommend.
- Excellent Product!
     By A3RK99YGKXWTDT on 2005-12-10
Burns perfectly on my AOpen DVD writer. I discovered it too late after I had already wasted my money on Memorex DVD's. I will stick with this brand and hopefully the price will eventually come down. Well worth the investment, though. Saves you a lot of trouble.
- Flawless Burning
     By A348FZAAEOA591 on 2006-07-13
So far I've transferred about 40GB of data from my backup external hard drive to the Verbatim DL's (using Roxio Record Now Premier). The entire process has gone without a hitch.
- Best Dual Layer Disc Available
     By A14BSVYPX09VBK on 2006-08-11
I've tried multiple types of +R Dual Layer media, this 1 has best burning success rate and has best compatibility with mutilple players.
- Weird Science
     By A2R2GLR76LHLYC on 2007-10-30
I needed DVD-R double capacity disks for a lengthy transcription job. First, I went to an electronics store and bought a package of five "inexpensive" 8MB/240min dual layer disks and then proceeded to record.
None of the disks would work in my Vista Media Center - not one. They would begin to burn and get to about 35% copy - and then auto eject. My Vista OS, like Sibyl of ancient days, said nothing to explain the problem.
Then I went to Amazon and bought the disk stack noted here. Every one (so far) worked fine.
I recommend using my example as a bad and a good one. Beware of deals! It had a happy ending, though, and so I can attest to Amazon selling a product that works. Response time and delivery of the goods was very fine. Customer service is well known as outstanding.
I'm a happy camper. Thanks, Amazon!

- Item received says "6x" although picture here shows "8x"
     By A2KEEQL522DMCU on 2005-11-16
I bought these here on Amazon, but was disappointed to see that the discs I received are in a box labeled "up to 6x speed" when the picture above clearly shows a photo of a box labeled "up to 8x speed". Since my drive is 8x DVD+R DL, I feel a little duped. That said, I've not yet attempted to try burning a DVD, to see whether it will burn at 8x nonetheless.
- Verbatim DVD+R DL Medias
     By A2Y4QQTCIP2E0E on 2006-07-24
Excellent products. No failed writing. Should not go higher than 2.4 in spite of any speed your burner can write.
- Burned all 10 in Pinnacle
     By A3RZXK1YOLOY34 on 2006-10-07
I burned all 10 successfully with bug-infested Pinnacle 9 using my Vaio, whereas I had had a 40% coaster rate with some Infiniti discs. Tried the resulting movies on a variety of DVD players and it worked on them all except the very oldest.
- A very good purchase
     By AG9BG3LVTGTR5 on 2006-10-19
If you decide to burn a regular movie in a regular empty dvd, sorry!, that's not possible my friend, 'cause with all kind of information like other lenguages, subtittles, comments from the director, producer, bla, bla, bla, that are included normally, it takes more than the capacity of these devices. But when you use these new items, wow!, the quality is just equal to the original movie plus all the movie menu!. CAUTION: YOUR DVD BURNER MUST HAVE A DOUBLE LAYER RECORDER!
- XBOX360 Backups
     By A3CZDKHTJYAGYO on 2007-02-15
This DL DVDs work perfectly for burning XBOX360 Backups just burn and play and your originals will be kept safe from scratching, I've been playing my backup and still have no scratches on either DVD very good quality and great price!
Plz support the game makers, only make a backup if you own the original.
- Perfect burn, but deteriorates
     By AWZJ7PEI07R6I on 2007-10-05
Like a previous reviewer, I have had a number of perfect burns with this media. However, 8 months later, I'm getting new bit errors on several discs. I first noticed the degraded bits that become failed seeks (not pixelation, instead the player can't skip to a chapter and exits) - the actual errors may have developed earlier elsewhere in the disc and only now got into the indexing. While this media may not be intended as archival, I had anticipated a lifetime measured in years instead of months.
- 100% Failure with Sony RDR-VX515
     By A23S5YUTAY4GFI on 2006-01-17
Discs won't format on this particular model. Supposedly compatible. Wonder if Verbatim will pay me back. I doubt it.
- So far so good
     By A3TZLIYRNGKUK8 on 2006-01-20
I am burning these on a BenQ DW1640 drive, which supposedly is the only drive tested to date with no errors. So it goes without saying that I haven't had any problems with these disks.
Are they archival quality? Does anyone know?
- Great discs!
     By A11EQJZNMO954Z on 2007-01-19
The Verbatim DL DVDs are fantastic. Never had a problem with them. Completely reliable to storage anything.
- excelent quality

this is the best disc you can buy, works fine, highly recommended, good price, I'm very satisfied.

VERBATIM IS BEST I'VE CAME ACROSS THEY MIGHT COST A LITTLE MORE THAN THE OTHERS BUT I'VE HAD ZERO (0) ERRORS ON ALL VERBATIM DVD's...
- Great
     By A741PPQHDIUNK on 2007-04-03
Worked no problem time and again.
Up to now, I have never gone wrong with Verbatim media of any kind so I will keep recommending their product - worth the little extra.
- Great Product - Great Price
     By A3AGPC9HEF6RD on 2007-07-07
These are the first DL disks I've tried, because I was waiting for a reasonable price. I've used 2 disks so far and both work well in my iMac and play in my TV's built-in player with no problems. These are the best buy for the money!
- Best Double Layer DVD for Intel iMac
     By A3H4DGP73E3BNP on 2007-09-29
This is my first choice for a double layer DVD for use on the Intel iMac. Initially I bought Memorex because they were cheaper (25 for $30, or $1.20 each) versus Verbatim (10 for $22.50, or $2.25 each). However, after factoring in the number of Memorex discs that failed to burn properly, I bet the costs are roughly the same. Choose Verbatim if you want reliability; choose Memorex if you want to save money and don't mind creating coasters now and then.
- Great!
     By A3JXIRB0FBTEYQ on 2007-11-01
You don't have to flip the disc. It's like a cheap blu ray disc. You can't rewrite on these or any other dual layered disc, but it doesn't make a mistake if you recheck your work before you burn it to disc.
- No Problems
     By A1EWBXFS4V0UR8 on 2007-12-13
So far the DVDs have made perfect replicas. I can't comment on any deterioration over time, becuase all of my burns are relatively new.
- Verbatim 2.4x Dual-Layer DVD+R DL
     By A1E0RU6IRYMAEP on 2007-12-13
The product works well in a Mac G5, with a Pioneer DVD/CD burner upgraded to the latest firmware.
- Even Verbatim can fail
     By A37B2FQZNZUDY9 on 2007-12-22
A whole stack of DVD+R DL blanks failed! I went through half of a 20 pack before realizing my copy problems weren't software or the burner. All of the movies would lock up 3/4 through. I switched to Memorex but I'm sure it was just a bad batch. It can happen with any disks.
- Great, solid DVD-DL's!!
     By A1R7EED1HTJDRK on 2008-01-02
These are probably the safest and best DVD-DLs you can buy. VERY RARELY do you get coasters out of these bad boys. You can be assured your backups will play perfectly and will last a long time.
I highly recommend these.
- Burn at a slower speed when you have problem DVDs
     By A2COSX27R4PU3R on 2008-01-24
I haven't bought Verbatim blank DVDs recently, so I can't comment directly on them (but since you can't post a review without choosing a star rating, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, and giving them a 5 star), but I've just been dealing with a batch of Memorex 8x dual-layer DVDs, and I'm getting a lot of failed burns to them, at full 8x speed, on my two Macs (a Quicksilver 867 MHz with a Pioneer DVR-115D burner, and a Mirrored Drive Doors 1.25 GHz dual with a Pioneer DVR-112D), using Roxio Toast. I dropped the burn speed to 4x, and at that speed, they're burning and verifying fine.
So if you find yourself stuck with a batch that's failing to burn or verify, drop the burn speed down a notch, if your burning software allows it, until you've used up that batch, and then go buy a better brand, which from these reviews, sounds like Verbatim is one.
