Gets the job done By A1Z99AVQSKWOML on 2006-03-03
I have been using the iGo everywhere130 model for about one month now and it has met my minimum expectations. It works from both AC and DC outlets as advertised. Unfortunately, it is not recognized by my Dell 9200 as a power supply with enough power to support full clock speed. My system always comes up in power saving mode when using the iGo. This is inconvenient as I had hoped to only have to carry this power supply for all uses. I still have to carry the Dell power brick for times when I need full speed out of my system.
Essentially useless for Dell D-Series notebook By A3HBU7LC2MR8C8 on 2007-01-03
The supplied S20 tip for Dell is "Power Only", will not charge the battery. iGo's support blog says it's due to a business agreement with Dell. Dell sells it's own OEM version of the iGo (which is crippled in a different way).
I wanted to use this as a replacement for 4 adapters I carry in my laptop bag. The iGo adapter cannot replace your Dell adapter on a business trip. Very disappointing. Partially Dell's fault, I guess, but I'm not inclined to buy anything else from iGo after my assessment of this model.
Meets, but does not exceed, expectations By A2DE8I2CT94URE on 2006-07-26
From previous reviews and the iGo product site, I knew that there would be issues powering my Dell D600. However, it did have the correct tip included and was able to power (not charge the battery) my laptop during an eight hour car ride for DVD playback just fine. Bought all the other tips for iPod, cell phones, cameras, camcorder and even for my Bluetooth headset. All charged without incident. Despite the heft, was still lighter than multiple chargers. It's really Dell's proprietary stupidity that is causing this product to be less than stellar.
Am traveling to Asia in a few weeks and will test the plane DC connection at that time.
Great concept - poor design By A2MTHN34KQC261 on 2007-06-21
The overall concept of a do everything power supply is really attractive - that's the plus and what originally sold me. However, there are some real downsides you should consider before you buy the iGo:
1. One device means that if you have any problems on the road you have no power supply (not a problem here, mine has worked without problem for a couple of years)
2. A single notebook adapter that handles every AC and DC voltage configuration out there is really, really attractive. But when you compare weight, space, and cost this might not be attractive to you. My new notebook is much more power hungry than my last one. But when you compare the weight and size of the iGo against my new AC supply and the DC supply I just bought - the iGo is not the winner! Also, the additional cost of the DC power supply is much less than and iGo. I could even buy a second AC power supply strictly for travel and it would still be less $$.
3. Wonder why I'm getting rid of the iGo? Every new computer I looked at wasn't on the adapter list for the iGo and, just like when I bought the iGo and looked for a Dell adapter for my wife, support gave me the stock "we don't have a tip for that, but we're constantly adding new ones." (In two years her's still isn't on the list). Then too, it might work for the computer you have, but what about the next one?
4. Also on Adapters -
I bought several for phones and other devices. Before you view having one charger work for everything, think about the cost of tips, and most devices today have USB adapters (and is is a lot less expensive solution.)
The iGo uses a second proprietary adapter for other non-computer devices. Good to be able to run a notebook and charge something else. But it's one more thing to carry. My new combo AC and DC USB adapters along with a wind up USB cable with adapters is still less expensive and takes less space than the iGo. And if I charge with my notebook, I can charge 4 devices in addition.
iGo uses proprietary connectors on the adapter itself. Like the adapter, they're big and awkward and hard to coil in addition. Also, if want to add one of those small surge supporessors that use the standard three prong power pack connectors - well you're out of luck. Have a cable or connector go bad and you have only one source.
iGo might work fine for you but mines going to Ebay.
Initial disappointment By AF6HKR4U9LSJO on 2006-05-03
Just received my order and was disappointed that despite almost $200 in device and tips that it did not come with my Notebook's tip.....S2....I called iGo and offered to send the 8 they include for the one I need. They said no.
Heavy and bulky. Let's see how long it stays in my bag.
- New tip charges my Dell Latitude D610
     By AETBM9K6TEVQ3 on 2007-05-11
I just got this product so I can't give it 5 stars yet. The manufacturer of this product recently introduced the S35 tip, which will charge a Dell laptop. The S35 tip replaces the S20 tip, which only powered the Dell. The current bundle comes with the S20 tip, so you'll need to buy the S35 tip separately.
- Travel Lighter (unless you have a Dell)
     By A3IQ2K5ZM118FU on 2007-04-03
I've used mine for over a year, it's great for travel - charging my Treo, wife's cell, Nintendo DS, 3 different laptops. The only problem I have is that it will not charge my Dell's battery b/c they use a proprietary charger. That's not iGo's problem, but is why my next laptop will be anything except a Dell.
- Beware! Does not charge battery for a Dell Latitude D610
     By A2SXF19M1IDQ8X on 2007-09-06
In the fine print on the hang tag (which I only saw after I purchased the item) it says that it will only power a Latitude D610; it will not charge the battery. Useless as far as I am concerned as that was one of the main things I needed it to do. Also, with all the tips for powering a second device, I was dismayed NOT to find one for my Palm Treo 700. So the two things I bought it for: charging the D610's battery and at the same time charge my Treo, it doesn't do. I'm sending it back. Oh ... and the main power unit is very heavy. Nicely designed, but heavy.
- Works as advertised
     By A2NF964Y5VTF2V on 2007-01-04
This product works very well. It can power a laptop such as a Lenovo 3000 N100 and also a cell phone or PDA. With an optional splitter you can even power two other smaller devices.
- Good idea but the design is not quite there.
     By A3COUTZ7ZJWR41 on 2007-02-28
This is a great universal charger. However, the overall size of the power block along with the power feed cord is larger than I expected. This large size goes against the original idea of what he product is supposed to be; a space saving solution for your travel bag. True enough it can charge just about anything, but once you pack the multiple cords to supply the different tips you end up with just about as many cords as your stock stuff.
- Great Device, very handy
     By A17VR3L697ASQN on 2007-05-13
This is a great device as it will power an Lenovo T60, my cell phone and iPod all at the same time any where that I happen to be...in a car, on a plane, at home or on the road. No need to worry with bringing a separate cord for each device.
The only slight comment that I have is that the power converter box is heavy...which I guess should be expected given that it does so much.
- Power Adapter destroyed IPod
     By AV65DE7F8C2J4 on 2007-05-18
I have used this product to power my laptop, and recently purchased the IPod tip for use with the dual power adapter. When I plugged it in to the IPod, it fried it immediately. The company has refused to replace my IPod and does not stand behind their product. Use at your own risk.
- Best device made
     By AA3O8G31HUWWB on 2007-05-21
If you fly much, it is a must. Most Airlines have power ports and therefore you can just plug in and power your laptop forever...then at the destination you change cords and use the AC in your hotel etc. I could not be happier. If you are thinking of just getting the AC version without the Cigarette lighter adapter, think again and send the extra bucks to have the long term versatility.
- Does what it's supposed to do
     By A14ZZLSWQIQIHK on 2007-08-17
I've been using the iGo for a year now and have been nothing but satisfied. I've used it with Apple Powerbooks, iPod, now iPhone, Motorola cell phone, Motorola bluetooth headset, Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, Sony Reader. My only problem right now is I have a Dell laptop from work and need to get the new S35 tip. For $10 a tip it beats the heck out of carrying chargers for my ebook, 2 laptops (mine and my company's), a game machine, cell phone, cell phone headset. It's heavy because it's versatile but try to pack all the chargers I'd need for a trip in the same space and weight as the everywhere130 and you just couldn't do it. I've experience no failures, breakages or any problem of any kind.
- Don't waste your time
     By A2QKE4D29CMX00 on 2007-07-19
I bought the Juice a couple of years ago - it is no longer useable. The iGo website claims "The only charger you need. Simply switch the tip.TM
* iGo power tips work with any iGo charger for gadgets or the
iGo dualpower accessory" but the reality is that in a year they will find some reason to make you buy a new one for new devices. A waste of your time in my opinion.
- Okay, not great
     By A1ERADT12ZIJ8V on 2007-07-22
I bought the Igo because it was on sale for the same price as the standard adapter for my computer (HP DV1000t) but came with so much more. The power supply is great and the tips work alright, but the multiple connections and cords means that something is *always* coming unplugged. And today, barely a month after I bought it, the cable connecting my computer to the power brick broke. (The head which goes into the brick separated from the cable; it appears irreperable.) Hopefully the replacement cord will work better, but overall I'd recommend getting something less bulky.
- iGo with me
     By A1MFM0841XZL8X on 2007-08-23
I have been needing one of these so that I could do work while I am on a plane. It is a great, I recommend it to anyone. Works great and easy to understand. If you are a road warrior you definitely need one of these.
- iGo is road warrior's lifesaver!
     By AYI64JNA722OO on 2007-08-24
My iGo Everywhere 130 is a lifesaver. I travel quite a bit,so having the ability to charge my gadgets on the road while limiting the number of adapters to deal with is a plus. The iGo can keep my laptop and one other device charging simultaneously using a single adapter, making my travel packing easier and lighter. Having a separate travel adapter also makes it easier to just undock my laptop when traveling, rather than unplugging the home adapter each time. The iGo 130 is money well spent
- Don't buy - computer runs slower - doesn't charge battery
     By AQBGGK563NMYQ on 2007-10-13
I bought this for a Dell Vostro. I get a nasty little error message about the computer running slow and not charging the battery.
- Junk
     By A30YK0LJCB3SL3 on 2007-11-15
I've had this thing for 3 months now and it is already dead. When you spend $120+ dollars on something it shouldn't be this bad. it is light but thats all it has going for it.
