Rock Em Sock Em With Superman By A27X7XXOKMK879 on 2006-12-30
I paid twice the price for this item at another location. I wouldn't say it was great at that price but it's a steal for just over $6.00. It's sturdily constructed with only six pieces to put together(which are a little difficult for the uncordinated to snap together at first). Once together, the pieces stay together nicely. It's not a game that kids play for hours (which is why it only received 4 stars) but they will play it repeatedly for short bursts of time. My advice, give all newcomers a chance to see how to "knock-out" both opponents and then play away. Even the grown-ups end up wanting a turn.
Rock Em Sock Em By A1B0T3J03USHPF on 2007-01-12
Fun, but only one of the heads pops up. Supermans head just looks up a little when hit. So only one player really feels like they can Sock the other one. I was a little disappointed. It would be funner if Supermans head could pop up when socked.
Don't expect too much........ By A3SLQL84LBS4I on 2007-01-03
After receiving, putting together and using this toy with myself and children, I overestimated what it would be. I remember the old school Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots, and this product isn't even close. The old characters stood 6-8" tall and both necks sprung up with metal parts when a blow to the head was delivered. This version has only plastic parts, the characters are 4" tall at best, and the 'win' is from a blow to the chest, not the head. Metallo's head springs up, but Superman's head only nods backward. It is difficult to discern the 'winner' from the set up. It was only an $11 lesson for me to learn, but if you truly want a real Rock 'em set, try eBay, or yard sales. This replica is not comparable to the original.
Super Fun By A190KXIDMDJSM5 on 2007-01-05
My son loves Superman so this was a no-brainer. He's 5 and even knows how to fix it when it comes apart. Simple, Fun, get one, it's better than the original I had 40 years or so ago.
Good fun for the whole family By AUM2MC7SQSQGG on 2007-01-09
Everyone in my family has played this...it helps get some of the everyday aggressions out!! The only problem we have had is Superman comes off if you play very hard with it. The kids wish Superman's head was more noticeable when he is hit.
- Nostalgia Peice - Not really
     By A9CEJN8F9Y2S9 on 2007-01-09
I bought this on clearance - actually 3 of them - thinking they would be like the Rock'em Sock'em robots I had almost 30 years ago and I would surprise my nephews as well.
While I think its great to see the concept back in action these are not your father's rock'em sock'em robots.
The heads dont pop up like the old ones did, there is no noise (remember the gear grinding sound of victory) and its hard to tell if and who wins. Superman's Head barely moves back as if from a tucked positon looking at his opponents belt to looking him in the face when he loses. The Silver guy's head does pop up, but just a little bit so it can be easily missed when you start button mashing.
I rate it a 3 beacuse for $6.97 I felt I had seven bucks forth of fun and since my son doesn't know what he is missing he seems to get a few minutes of enjoyment out of them - so its not a total loss.
- Dont make'em like they use to ...
     By A1LEBII7FS607Q on 2007-01-27
Dude this looks cool but plays crappy -pretty cheap plastic, mechanics are lame. You cant really tell when Superman is hit because his head barely leans back. You have to constantly adjust the arm positions of the figures so their reach can strike the head or chest targets -and it seems rigged that Supermans arms are just a little longer to stack the odds for truth, justice and the American way. Again, Cool figures weak cheap playability.
- Superman always win
     By A21AUFTVPH0CM4 on 2007-02-21
My child liked it, because he always wants to play superman and superman always wins.(it seems to be designed that way). By the way, it is difficult to hold the controller for long time.
- Not worth the money
     By A3IXJVFGSM4EDE on 2007-03-18
While my grandson and son had a lot of fun with it for a week, it completely fell apart within the first week. The heads on the fighting figures completely broke off and cannot be repaired. This toy is definitely not worth the money.
