  The review prior to this is an unfair low rating due to the fact he didn't know it already came with his 360. This item is only for people who need a new one or purchased a 360 without one. The 360 component cable is an excellent cable and great for high definition gameplay. 5 stars.

  This cable comes with the $399 version of the xbox. The only reason you would need this cable would be for the "core" model or yours broke.
  
  

• Only Buy if you Got the "Core" System

  I felt compelled to write a review after some people gave it a low rating due to not reading product discriptions. If you bought the core system- 299- this does not come with the system only the standard yellow red white cables. So if you want to use a core system on your HDTV you need thsi cable.

  If you bought the core system, you get a basic cable. If you own an HDTV (720p/1080i/1080p) you'll need this component cable (or VGA if your TV has that option). If you use a DD5.1 audio receiver, you'll need the optical digital cable with connects to this cable (TOSlink).
  
  Vs the Monster cable? This cable seems to work fine. I am able to find general 50' premium component cables on the internet for less than the price of the Monster cable. I didn't notice any significant difference in quality of Monster over the MS cable.

  The cables worked fine for about a year. Now the cable seems to work sometimes but for the most part it just shows purple lines going across the screen. I have to switch from regular tv to hdtv a few times to make it work. The sound always comes thru just the video has problems.
  
  
• Why buy this cable?

  I bought this cable to hook up my newly ordered Xbox 360 to my HD TV. But I later found that the 360 comes with a very similar, if not identical, cable. Perhaps one is longer? Perhaps this is an out-dated accessory? Whatever. Check your 360 before ordering this cable, or end up feeling dull and foolish like me.

  These connectors give excellent video quality. Granted you get this with the premium system, so it is not a necessity to buy for most people. However, I will be getting one to setup on my HDTV downstairs, so it is easier to move the XBox from one tv to another without a bunch of hassle.
  
  The only thing that bumps it down to 4 stars is the price. This thing should not cost $30-$40. Same goes for the XBox power adaptor ($70?!).

  Ran the cables that came with my system thru my wall and wanted to have freedom to move system without massive work for when my wife kicks me out of the family room. Now I just move my system and power cord and I am gaming where she is not...LOL!
  
  
• A mistake to buy this cable

  I purchased this cable new to go with my new hdtv. It worked fine for six weeks until I could not get a picture. I mess with the cable and get an off color picture on the screen. I mess with the cable more and it worked for two days. Now it gets a wobbly picture on the screen which I cannot get rid of. I never moved the xbox but it just started happening for no reason. What a waste of money for over priced cables.
  
  I would spring for the extra ten bucks and get the monster cables at least you have a far less chance of dealing with the mess I have. I have had great luck with monster in the past but was too cheap and decided to trust microsoft.
  
  Note: I bought the microsoft vga cable at a local store and the picture was horrible and might as well have been the lowest end. If you have hdtv then steer clear of anything less than component cables (monster). It is amazing the difference in quality. Also it was stupid of microsoft not to include an hdmi connection for the 360.

  This is for the Microsoft brand Xbox 360 Component HD cable. Amazon had it for a reasonable price and they were quick in shipping and delivering it. I always trust Amazon for getting what I need.

  YIKES!!! Our xbox cable got broken and we couldn't find one. What a relief to get one from Amazon. We are of course very happy with this product. It is as described and works perfectly. We probably should have got two, just in case!!
  
  
• Great cable, exactly what i needed

  Has an AV left-right to phone jack converter. In addition to a vga dual ended cable, to connect to your CRT screen or VGA enables screens and or even video input graphic cards. Pretty cool
  
  
• It's a cable not a game

  Despite amazon thinking this is a game and wanting me to rank "How much fun is this game?" it's really a cable. Installing it was about as much fun as rewiring your XBox. On the plus side, it works like a champ and took about 5 minutes to swap out with my previous cheapo cable.

  I bought this in hopes to be upgraded to HD and it worked out great, picture quality is great if you have a HDTV that runs on 1080p, then you are in luck! It's great, and for the price you get can't be beat.
