  • Absolutely Awesome!!!!

    By A10SNH818K3TDA on 2006-03-05
My daughter is 5 months old and absolutely loves this DVD and the dog.
She watches it while she is in her Jumperoo and bounces like crazy when the DVD is going. She also smiles real big when the animals come on screen.
My son, who is 3 loves it as much as she does so I am gonig to get him the older version of it, the cow. I am very excited to see how great that one is. He totally interacts with it while it is playing, it's great.

    Side Note:
For those who are having trouble getting the light to stop blinking make sure to turn up the volume on the t.v. so that it can register in the animal. After the blue light stops blinking turn the volume down and it will work fine.
I thought mine was broken at first until I read the trouble shooting page that said to turn up the volume on the t.v. (kind of loud). Then, again like I said earlier turn the volume down after the light stops blinking and it will work fine :).

    I highly recommend this toy!

  • Neatest Toy!

This toy is very cool! Our baby, 6 months old, loves it and cannot stop staring at the TV. I am not the kind of person who loves TV for babies, but this toy is different. It is so engaging and right on target for babies - it plays peek-a-boo, asks what is behind the door, sings simple songs, all in bright, eye catching colors. As an early childhood educator, I can say with confidence that this toy is developmentally appropriate, which means it is at the right level for our baby, and is truly a fun learning tool for him.

  • My baby LOVES it!!!

My baby is 8 months old and absolutely loves this DVD and the Dog that comes with it. She seems amazed when the dog talks to her and she'll get so excited and hug it so tight. I don't know much about educational value in television shows and videos; but she seems really in tuned to it, so she is probably learning something. When I watch the Baby Einstein videos I would think there was absolutely no educational value. This seems to have more than the Einstein videos, and it keeps her attention for a very long time. I also do not know about the durability seeming that we just got it for her for Christmas and its now New Years Eve. This is a great buy though, (...). I know thats a lot of money, but not for what you are getting. She can even play with the dog and press the button on his belly to talk when the DVD is off.
I recommend getting one. Friends of ours was over tonight with there 2 year old and she absolutely LOVED it, she was obviously reacting more and talking back to the DVD than my baby. But, it was reassuring that even older children still like it.

  • Awesome Toy!

My son has loved this from the day he got it at 6 months old, and he is now 11 months old. He actually sits still to watch it the whole 30 minutes! He laughs when the animals play peek-a-boo, and bounces around when he sees the other babies. I expected it to be similar to the Baby Einstein videos, but it is not the same at all. I can't wait to get him the next one for his 1st birthday! A great investment with hours of fun!

  • My son loves it!!

My son is 6 months old and usually gets tired of everything pretty quickly. Baby Einstein and signing time do not catch his attention at all! but Backyardigns and this are his favorite. He loves it esp the fact that the dog looks like he's from the TV. This fact makes him laugh and he won't let go of the dog at all. It's a def must for anyone looking for a good toy for the baby that also teaches him things like hello and bye bye and other stuff as well. Just hope they bring out more videos to use with the dolls you already purchased instead of having to purchase a new one, if they do that would make this toy one of the best buys out there.

  • Great Id - too bad it doesn't work
    By AJ4POZOKSD3CP on 2006-01-03
We were really excited about this when we bought it for our children. The first one we had, we could not get the blue light on. We tried every possible way to get the batteries in - no matter what the combination - the blue light would not light up or blink. So, we took it back to return it and picked up another one. This one's light would blink. We were hopefull. Unfortunately, after over a dozen attemps including multiple TVs and even the audio CD - the unit would not configure - the light kept on blinking. So, we're taking this back and not going to try another. A cool idea and it would be the greatest if it actually worked. I can only assume that the quality tanked because of trying to meet holiday production.

My daughter is now 5 months old and this dvd is part of our nightly routine. She loves the colors, music and the talking dog. She holds the dog while watching the show. This teaches much more than the Einstein videos. We have several of the Einstein dvds and they do not keep her attention at all. I feel they have no educational value either. Regardless, I can't wait to get the next age dvd (the lamb and the cow) to see what it has in store for her.

  • A cute concept and super fun video
    By A1TB71T79TLBFE on 2006-08-14
I couldn't wait for this to come out after reading about it in parenting magazines. My daughter gets so excited when the video comes on and she smiles at all the characters. The songs are really cute and catchy. I can only think of 2 drawbacks:
    1. The belly button song is a little silly: "Belly button, belly button, when you touch it great things happen. It's my tiny tickle dot. That's the spot!"
    2. What's with the bright blue light?? I'm sure it has to do with picking up the signal or whatever but why does it have to be so bright? I'm worried that it might hurt my daughter's eyes.

  • One of our favorites
    By A3322E7B0ISPOE on 2006-11-01
My daughter adores this toy. She got it when she was 4 months old and she still loves it. Very educational and age appropriate, great features like additional car CD and the fact that you can use the dog as just a soft toy that's interactive. My daughter just stared at it first and smiled when the toy interacted with the TV. She also loved it when we would press the doll's button and it would just talk or sing all by itself. At around 6 months she loved to chew on the dog's ears and also started trying to push the button to make the doll speak, but was not strong enough until she was about 10 months old. She was so happy when one day she succeeded and the dog sang the belly button song for her. She is now 1 y.o. and still loves the toy. She tries to imitate the words from the DVD, she hugs and kisses the dog and makes it dance when it sings the songs and the car CD is a godsent for the long car rides as her "Doddy" can keep her entertained on long trips.
It had some problems at first: 1) The first toy we got did not work at all so we had to exchange it. The second one worked fine. In fact, we've only had to change the batteries once in 8 months. 2) I don't like the light and wish it was less bright, but I don't think it's such a big deal. I tried to stare at it for a while myself with no ill effects. 3) For the people who have hard time getting the doll to tune in - turn the TV up for the few moments while the doll is tuning in, keep all the other noise to minimum for those few moments and keep the doll turned to and relatively close to the TV speakers. 4) I wish Tiny Love would make additional cartriges with different content so the doll could continue to be used with other DVDs. 5) A little pricy.
However, all the problems listed above are nothing compared to the fun and the educational benefit my daughter is getting from the toy. We are definitely getting the cow too.

  • Annoying blue light
    By A1O4TWMCLP6I7I on 2006-06-07
Overall, I think the toy is great but what is the purpose of the belly button's blue light? It bothers my sons eyes when he looks at the toy. It is like shooting a laser into his eyes. I've covered up the light by putting a tshirt on the doll but it really took away from the cuteness factor of the doll. I just can't figure out what is the point of that light.

  • My son loves it!!
    By AY1CBNPX1OR1F on 2007-02-17
We love this DVD. My 8 month old son absolutely adores the dog and the DVD. Whenever we put it on he gets a huge grin and it keeps his attention the whole time. I watch it with him and do the same activities. He started waving and clapping with the DVD now. And when Peekaboo comes up, he laughs like crazy. He loves all of the characters and can't keep his eyes off of them when they are on the screen.

In addition, our dog wasn't interacting with the DVD as it should, despite trying everything. We sent an email to Tiny Love and they sent a new dog to us that was tested thoroughly. They gave us an envelope to send back the original so they could test and fix. It was quick and seemless.

  • My Son's FAVORITE!!!
    By AQF3P7G5WH9V8 on 2007-08-03
My son absolutely LOVES the DVD MagIQ line. He received the dog for Christmas and it is the only dvd that he can sit through. We tried so many different shows, including Baby Einstein, Sesame Street, and some of the free shows that are on cable. He always lost interest within the first 5 minutes. But with this DVD MagIQ, he was able to sit through the 28 minute show, and sometimes we would even play it twice, and he still would sit and laugh through it. It is especially helpful when I am cooking dinner, and I need something to entertain him because I can't carry him or play with him. I just put him in his high chair, set the dog up and place it right next to him, and he's good to go for about half an hour. This product is definitely better than the Baby Einstein videos, because it is more interactive. It teaches and identifies what certain objects are, and what certain gestures mean (i.e. hello and bye bye). He also learned his waving for "Hello" and "Bye-Bye" through this video. We play peek-a-boo with him, so when it comes on in the video, he is laughing so hard, and absolutely nothing compares to hearing your child laugh!! The music is also catchy, so while he's watching, I'm singing along with the video as well. And my son dances to the songs. All in all, this video is absolutely fantastic. It is definitely a must-buy for parents!!

  • Interactive Dog

My 8 month old loves it! She watches the DVD and laughs! It keeps her attention while I get ready every morning! I plan to get the add on.

  • her favorite!
    By A15LGZ55RPYE4T on 2007-02-28
our daughter got this when she was 5 months and she has loved it from the very begining. shes now seven months and she shouts at the "friends" on the screen. she laughs and tries to talk back to the doll. shes just starting to try to wave back to the video and to other people. i wish it was easier to find the dvd for older kids and that the doll could be used with them. having to buy a competely differt set is a little pricy, but she loves it so much its worth it.

  • Love this thing!!!
    By A34Q0Q0NZJJKVA on 2007-05-08
Our baby boy is 7 months old, we started watching this DVD with him when he was around 3 months old. The older he gets, the more he LOVES watching it. It is really funny, he gets really mad when we try and distract him when the DVD is on. The only thing I do not like about this item is the blue belly button light, it is so bright it hurts my eyes. Not a big deal though, I usually cover it up with something...

  • Easy on the Parents
    By A39O2EIXABAYI1 on 2007-06-19
Not only has this series been the hands down favorite of our son's for the past 12 months, but it is the least irritating baby DVD we've come across. The songs and overall tone of this video are very placid, soothing, whereas Elmo etc. become screeching and unbearable to parents who have to watch it daily. On the parental sanity scale, MagIQ gets a 9 (excellent), while every other DVDs out there rate 6 at the very most.

The songs in MaqIQ DVD are a bit saccharine, they'll make you want to hug penguins and call your mother. Nonetheless, they are quite catchy and remarkably tolerable after the 200th listen.

Our boy really loves this product. Its the only DVD that makes him smile often. He has no interest in the dolls though. No matter, the product works perfectly without the doll. The interactive doll is pretty cool though.

  • Loves It!
    By A3B2JEKVLWS96W on 2007-12-20
My daughter absolutely adores this toy. She barely pays attention to any other television show, but when she just sees the dog she gets excited. We often sing the songs from the show to calm her down or get her attention. I would highly recommend it to everybody. She got it from my sister, who has twin sons that also like it and I bought one for my husband's nephew and hope he loves it too! If only they made more videos than just a couple.

  • great original toy
    By ASVVJSAJ35N8C on 2008-01-25
My 5 month old daugther got this from her uncle for christmas and absolutely loves it. She seems to love it more and more each time we play it. We sit her on the floor next to the dog and in front of the TV. She watches the TV and laughs and hugs the dog each time it "talks". The music on the DVD is really cute too (not annoying). I agree with a few reviewers that the blue light is very bright. I put a small round piece of white duct tape over it and it still works fine. I had the same problem as others getting the toy to work at first until we turned up the TV volume. I think this is a great toy and your child should like it if they enjoy watching videos like mine.

  • Very entertaining and great way to learn
    By A2BSHK59HRWOZJ on 2008-02-14
We got this toy as a gift. My twin girls are 13 months and they both love this toy. Bath time has always been tiring for me because they both like to play "catch me if you can" during dress up. Ever since I had this toy my girls will just stay put watching the show while I dress them up. The blue light doesn't bother them, they actually got curious that they always press it. They learn how to say hello and bye bye and they laughed during peek a boo time then they start playing peek a boo with us even without the toy. I highly recommend it.

  • Mommy's 30 minutes of peace
    By A3FW0V0IQB76CK on 2008-04-16
My daughter got this at 6 months and didn't pay much attention to it at first, after about 2 months she fell in love with it. She is now 12 months and still loves it she will sit there and watch the entire 30 minute DVD with her Dog and thats saying alot my daughter likes to go, go, go.
Whenever I need a break or need to do something this is the first thing I go for.
Now that she's 12 months I called Tiny Love and they have a second DVD for 12 months and older that you can order, she has not yet watched it but if it's anything like the first one she will love it.
It's got catchy little tunes too, we all walk around singing "it's my tiny tickle dot"
    Well worth the money!!
