Disney Mack Truck Playsetx$19.77

(82 reviews)

Best Price: $19.77

Inspired by the hit Disney Pixar move, Cars, the Mack Truck Bachelor Pad Play set expresses the racy personality of Lightning McQueen, the leading car in the film. In the movie, McQueen gets waylaid on his way to a big race, and ends up in Radiator Springs. It's a little run down for this flashy hot rod, but the eccentric small-town folk-mobiles teach McQueen all about friends, family and love. Now kids can bring these loveable characters home and recreate their favorite scenes from the movie with this detailed play set. The play set opens to reveal a truck bed pad packed with play features, including a carwash, a video game area, a weighing scale and more, where McQueen crashes after a long day of racing. • Mack Truck

    By A2NRS0AX9SV70W on 2006-06-29
My son loves this toy (he's [...]), it allows McQueen to do many activities inside Mack. It is thin plastic though and seems like it would break easily if it fell or was thrown. As it is, sometimes when he plays it, pieces come off easily-though they pop back on quickly. If you have infants at home, I would steer clear of this toy for that reason. If it were a little sturdier, I would have given it 5 stars.

  • Play value is worth it

    By A2R25NQQSOYOKU on 2006-06-15
I bought this for my son before the movie came out and a bunch of the characters, too. This truck has some small pieces that could break if the child is not careful. I prefer the other Mack Truck that's available. The one that comes with Doc and Sally. It's preferable because of that fact that there are not a lot of pieces that could get broken, you just tote the cars around inside. I have an almost 3 year old and he breaks things, but it is his toy and if it breaks, it breaks. No real harm done. He loves it. Loves playing with Lightning McQueen inside. Worth it for the play value.
Another reviewer complained that she couldn't find the other little cars at any store. It is very hard to find the characters now. Since the movie release there have been sales at stores and a major rush on the toys. There was a rush on the toys even before the movie came out. Parents and collectors alike, are buying these toys. Ebay is proof that people are willing to shell out the cash for some of the harder ones to find. I believe the characters will be easier to find as time goes on. At least I hope so for my sake. I would like to buy the complete set for my son.

  • Someone help me here!

    By A32BZK528N8TCA on 2006-09-03
O.k. Can someone explain to me why a 4- to 8-year-old needs a toy called a Bachelor Pad that expresses the "racy" side of this movie character? I don't care how much fun your kid has playing with it, it's not appropriate. When are we parents going to open our eyes and pay attention to what the manufacturers are selling our children?

  • fun for your Cars fan, but ONLY if you already have the cars

    By A1TB8KJEM5JT9R on 2006-08-08
As a maniac mom, I bought the complete set of little cars more than 2 months before the movie opened, and thank goodness I did because they are impossible to find now unless you are willing to pay a ridiculous premium. I think that for the price, it is a bit of a rip-off that it doesn't come with a Lightning McQueen, especially since that is the whole appeal of the truck. You also have to read the box carefully to know that there is no McQueen included. I like that the truck comes apart and reattaches to the cab easily, so that my 4-year-old doesn't have to ask me 20 times a day to do it. I do think that some of the features are dramatically overstated (come on, a "game station" ?!?), but the kid really digs it.

  • Disappointed in the price

    By ANKXUJ4H7JFMX on 2006-12-10
I bookmarked this item to purchase in December. My son's birthday is a week after Christmas. I am DISMAYED to come back to this page and see that a simple little plastic (a little junky!?) toy has changed in price from under $15 to almost $100!!!. The Note that Amazon gave me was that this toy was no longer available from the original offering company. I wouldn't consider paying that much for a toy that won't last. Read the comments below and see for yourself if the toy will last. I'm very disappointed.

  • My 5 year old LOVES Mack!
    By AFXQRHIA5WSR3 on 2006-10-20
I have a pretty huge CARS fan and he really loves this Mack truck. He plays with him a lot. The only thing is some of the smaller parts inside of Mack have fallen off or broke. I think they should have taken in consideration that it would be played with by little boys. It still seems to make my little guy very happy. If you have a Disney Cars fan this will be a must have!

  • My 5 year old LOVES this toy!
    By AKEHVNKGX6FG7 on 2006-11-17
My son [...] picked this toy out himself with his $20 gift certificate. He's been playing with it non stop! I think it's great! Inside the truck, there are different sections: car wash, kitchen w/ water & oil, dancefloor (you'll have to see it)--overall--very cute! Some of the little parts inside seem somewhat fragile to me but as long as you tell your child to be a little gentle with them, it should be fine. If you're looking for a durable (takes a licking but keeps on ticking type) toy, I don't recommend it. But if you have a long car/plane ride or a child who likes little toys & parts (lego/lincoln logs type), I think it's great.

  • Son Delighted
    By A32YV1HPK4590G on 2006-07-17
My son adores this toy. It's a little complete home for smaller cars in one truck. Perfect toy for boys with active imaginations. Definitely worthwhile buying.

  • My son's favorite- waiting for new and improved version!
    By A1PFD2RX11MP7D on 2006-11-28
My 2.5 year old loves his Mack! As others have mentioned, it does have small little parts that always need snapped back in and eventually break. They would be choking hazards if little ones are around. It is also very hard for him to open with no notch or knob to pull. He drops or throws Mack to get him to pop open. So, poorly designed, but still a favorite. If they improve the design, we'll buy another!

  • Fun truck
    By A2208E244OE7M8 on 2006-06-21
Got most of the Pixar 1:55 cars before the movie came out and hesitated on Mack because of the $[...]price tag. Finally picked it up and my 3 year old loves it. Mack adds some really nice play value. I removed one of the car wash arms so he would close easier. Mack comes off from the trailer easy and while I didn't think he'ld hold up he's proved me wrong by holding up well. Mack actually had some decent screen time in the movie and is voiced by Pixar fave voice talent John Ratzenberger and got some really nice laughs in during the movie credits so don't leave as soon as it ends!

  • Happy CARS fan here!
    By A3IPHL95ZMW5O4 on 2006-11-10
My six year old nephew has all of the CARS cars and wanted a "real" looking Mack truck. He is thrilled with all the features of the Bachelor playset. He even sleeps with it! I think the toy is well-made and sturdy enough for older children.

  • Not very durable, but cute!!
    By AIEZJVJ7R47GD on 2006-12-05
My son got this as a gift and he loves it. However after having it for 3 weeks, both of the little shower bars are bent almost to the point of breaking. Hopefully they will remake this toy, so that you have a little more room to open/close, and make the showers a little more durable. But all in all my son loves it, so if you have a cars fanatic in your home it may be worth it. But, catch it on sale!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Way Overpriced!
    By A1YHHEDQGHVS3F on 2006-12-15
OK, it's my fault. I was frantically trying to buy a "cool" gift for a 4 year old. I didn't read the description closely and was really really disappointed with this item. I was expecting something a lot bigger for the $$$. It is just so tiny and uninteresting. I may just sell it on ebay and buy something better. DO NOT BUY!

  • A must have if your child loves the Cars movie!
    By A3U29SC1B8Y8KN on 2006-11-12
My 2 1/2 year old son loves this toy so much that he will not let anyone else play with it. The only problem I have is that it is difficult to open for a 2 1/2 year old, but that is a good thing because he likes to drive it around closed most of the time and when he wants it open I open it for him. I think it is a GREAT addition to any collection or for any fan of the movie. My son has all of the cars toys and this one is his favorite. I am going to buy him a second one just in case he breaks this one (and so the neighbors kid has one to play with when he is at our house.) I would give it more stars just because my son loves it so much. One caution to parents with smaller kids who put things in their mouths, this has A LOT of small parts that can be broken off it you do not watch your kids closely so be aware.

  • truck ok
    By A35PLT9TBV97S5 on 2006-06-16
I love the truck and my son seems to love the play part that opens up(he slept with it last night)BUT there are no and I mean NO little cars to be bought to put in the toy that is the only real disappointment with this toy. OH and be careful this toy seems like it will break EASY. BUT overall it was worth the 14.88 at the local supercenter!!!!!!

  • Internal Pieces fall off, especially when you are trying to close it!
    By A26PJ9KJZ77RUT on 2006-11-16
If you don't mind loosing the little inside pieces, such as all the car wash gizmos, then your kids will be asking you to repair...The kids seem to like the opening & closing of the trailer. Otherwise, my son played with it all day the first day and it's a nice break from thomas for my 3.5 yr old.

  • Not for this price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    By AQ459R794O1UN on 2006-12-20
My son loves this toy but we bought it for under $20 at K.B. toys about a month agoe and we thought that was a fair (not cheap) price for what you get. DO NOT buy it for this price (It is now over $100 on here). That is just ridiculous. You will be VERY dissapointed for that price!!!

  • Cute playset
    By A1WO4F58FG8B1J on 2006-11-10
Saving this item as a Christmas gift.Smaller than I expected, but I think my 5 year old will like it.

  • A little hard to open but the kids love it
    By A2EREEX2VZ8MYN on 2007-03-08
I bought one of these for both of my nephews who are each 3 years old. Adam who is a few months older just gets frustrated and doesn't bother to open the truck, but he loves to drive it around. And whenever he can entice a grown-up to open it he has a great time playing with Lighting inside the truck. Austin on the other hand has discovered that dropping Mack, opens him right up, it's been 3 months since Christmas and Mack has survived every drop to open him. So he's definetly durable. Both boys love the toy, the only downfall is he's hard to open.

  • Fun, but not as durable as I would have hoped...
    By A104XJY4WUMFQE on 2007-05-14
My 3 year old son loves the movie, "Cars," and is so excited to have Mack! However, I must admit that I am a bit disappointed with the durability of the toy overall. Though the concept of the "bachelor pad" and all the "activities" for McQueen inside the trailor (i.e. the kitchen, the car wash, etc)are adorable, I had to glue two pieces back onto it the 2nd day we had it. In all honesty, I don't think my son is particularly rough with the toy, but it definitely couldn't withstand him! Finally, I think the trailor is a little hard to open & close, though after much practice, I think my son has the hang of it. Like I said, he really loves the toy and it is fun to have it as part of his collection, I just wish it was a little more well made.

  • Just Bought It
    By A1BHJKFH86VE1I on 2006-06-11
Please note - the little play cars are not included. I bought it at one place thinking I could find the little cars someplace else. Don't buy this toy until the little cars that go with it are available. I have been to several stores and no one has them. You can't even order them on line! My son loves the truck, but it isn't as interesting with out the little car and the plastic parts of the truck don't look like they will take much before they break, so it could very well be broken before I ever find the cars that go with it.

  • 6 year old loves it.
    By A3MNV91GLZ4LFC on 2006-12-27
I dont know why people are giving this low reviews simply because certain retailers (not amazon) asked way too much for it and they paid it. Its a $15.00 toy, thats what it sells for in stores. That fact that you overpayed does not make this a bad toy. Please people, read the reviews carefully and take the "overpayers" reviews with a grain of salt. My 6 year old loves this truck, its adorable and he plays with it alot! It was worth every cent of the $15 we paid for it.

  • Mattel needs a better focus group
    By A28HGVZGZZI321 on 2007-01-11
This toy has me convinced that people at Mattel do not have children. It is very hard to open and close --which is annoying since you have to open the entire thing to put Lightning inside instead of just pushing him in and out of the back flap door--and it has too many useless thingies inside that break easily. When one of the car wash rollers broke off after two minutes of play, I told my son he didn't need that part. He said, "You're right mommy. I don't." My son is not at all interested in having Lightning play video games or work out at the exercise station. Luckily, all he wants to do with it is roll it arund the floor singing "Life is a Highway." I see it is selling for $50 and up. I would be cursing self if I spent that much on it.

  • Too many small parts
    By A43NG8QLYRZ2J on 2007-01-11
My son loves the CARS movie and seems to be on a mission to aquire every toy made. He was very excited to see the Mack truck finally available to go with the cars. Unfortunately, the trailer, which is supposed to open, requires a knife to pry open. Once it is open it is filled with tons of very small, extremely breakable parts that fold in and out and actually prevent you from getting it closed again. Most of them didn't last the first day in our house. Once he'd broken all the little pieces and basically stripped the interior it was alright. But we still need a knife whenever he wants to re-open the trailer.

I love the idea of a Mack truck to go with the toy cars. I just don't understand why they had to make it so ridiculously elaborate.

  • Smaller then what i thought
    By AD47I3RUFI52N on 2007-01-12
This ended up a lot smaller then what i thought but my son knew who it was and was very happy, i wish it would have come with lighting mcqueen though. So far I haven't had any problems with it but it doens't get played with everyday either.

  • All CARS fans
    By A2AHZTXI0D7L0F on 2007-01-24
Bought this for my friend's 4-year-old son (XMAS). She said he plays with it EVERY day, and even wants to take it to the babysitter. It was a little hard to open/close at first - which could be a problem for smaller children.

  • Disney Mack Truck Bachelor Pad Playset
    By A3SUNX3QKFEZYY on 2007-02-06
This was a Christmas gift for my 4 year old son and out of all the gifts he got this one was the best. He takes it everywhere and even sleeps with it. If your kids loved the movie "Cars" they will love this.

  • My twin 3 year old boys LOVE it!
    By A24VREZ6IBI1HK on 2007-08-07
My boys got one of these for their 3rd birthday and we had to go out and get a second. They both LOVE to play with it. We never buy 2 of the same toy, but this was definitely the exception. I have had a couple small parts snap off, because of them stepping on it when opened. But the pieces snapped right back on. It was a little tricky for them to learn how to open it, as it was a little hard to open. But they've mastered it within a week. This toy keeps them occupied for a long time. We did get them some of the cars to go with it. And that helps too. We obviously didn't read the box or we would have known, but the car doesn't come with it. The packaging is a little decieving that the car isn't included. But, it does say it, in small print, on the box. Overall - BEST toy!

  • Don't buy this unless you are an extremely patient person
    By A3KICZ9YVRTVAX on 2007-09-07
Trying to put his toy back together is not worth the 10 minutes of play time your child will get out of it. The pieces don't snap together well, and we've found it impossible to close the truck up so that it stays, not to mention trying to fit the pieces inside the truck as it is supposed to do. It provides hours of frustration rather than entertainment. That said, my 5 year old likes it, but since it's pretty small, he only plays with it for about 10 minutes at a time.

  • Good as new after world travels
    By A36PO0OR0U2V33 on 2007-09-29
I bought this for my 3.5-year-old nephew (at the time), somewhat concerned by the comments some reviewers had made on how it falls apart with regular use. I decided to buy it anyway, b/c at the price, even if it lasted 6 months, it seemed like an ok deal. After about a year now, and with a 23-hour plane journey (+ a 2-month stay) overseas in-between, I can strongly refute those comments on flimsiness. The truck has held up very well and has given my nephew countless hours of enjoyment. He still has all the pieces intact and this is a constant companion anywhere he goes - along with at least a few of the 'cars'. However, my nephew is very careful with his prized toys, though - which might be a factor in this truck surviving in such great shape for so long. But this is why I mention the trip overseas. I did not anticipate this to be such a hit with the little guy. Not too shabby for a $14 gift.
