Black & Decker SZ360 3.6-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Power Scissorsx$13.55
    (203 reviews)
Best Price: $35.79 $13.55
These scissors offer way more cutting power than just about anyone can muster with muscle alone, and best of all, it’s effortless. You can’t help but love a product that makes life so much easier, especially for folks who suffer from arthritis. You can cut nearly anything with these, from delicate pattern paper to sheet vinyl flooring and window screening, with just the press of a button. Our favorite job for these, though, is to easily slice into that impossible-to-open, hard plastic packaging that seems to be on most everything these days. It’s no match for these scissors. When power scissors first came out, there wasn’t too much concern about ergonomics, but we know so much more these days about how important that is. Black & Decker’s made this power tool a treat for the body to use, with a nice cushy grip, super light weight and no force needed. One charge will keep you cutting for 70 minutes, and then you just plug it in and charge it again. There’s no end to what you can use these power scissors for – gift wrapping, sewing, scrapbooking, decorating, jobs around the house, crafts, clipping coupons. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

HELP ME....I'm a cutting fool!! By A23O5LZQT3VANF on 2006-12-06
Hi Folks,
I purchased these scissors after seeing them advertised on the (....) tube. After seeing the price I figured what could I lose I mean really, I've spent more on lottery tickets and ended up with nothing to show for it. I charged the scissors for 12 hours as per the instructions and then went on a cutting frenzy! Trust me folks, there was not a safe magazine, cardboard box or plastic carton for 2 miles that I didn't chop to bits with these things. The power of the scissors is really quite amazing considering their size and weight and they fit your hand like a glove. The only thing I could think of to improve this product (More like a wish) is to have a holster for them that you can wear on your belt like a cowboy and his trusty six-shooter. Yep, there would have been a very different outcome at the O.K. Corral if I had been there with my powered scissors.
Ok so enough blabbering, the scissors are a great product at a good price, just be careful not to become a power scissor bandito or you and I are going to have it out on the white paper of life!
Ciao!
2 different models offered... By AYFEPALTO5UO7 on 2006-11-30
The SZ360 (item on this page) includes:
-3.6V scissors, universal cutting blade, and charger.
The SZ360T includes:
-3.6V scissors, universal cutting blade, fabric cutting blade, table mount & charger.
I picked this up at my local Sears and found that it didn't include a table mount or an additional blade that a lot of people talked about on here. Home Depot offers the SZ360T online for the same price.... something to keep in mind.
These Make The Cut! By AEE42UT3ERITN on 2006-11-25
The Black and Decker Cordless Power Scissors, along with Black and Decker's Cordless Screwdriver
and the Black & Decker Handisaw were just what we were in the market for. While I had often thought about buying them in the past, this seemed to be a perfect time to finally make the purchase. Just in time to use for the cutting and wrapping of our family Christmas presents. Because my wife has a plate in her wrist using regular scissors is sometimes, literally, a pain for her. Not so with the Black and Decker Cordless Scissors. She has said these just glide right through. She doesn't have to work the scissors, she said she just holds them and goes along for the ride! Not having any wrist or hand fatigue to deal with is a blessing. Works as smooth as a knife through butter! ~ The Boss (Mrs. B. agrees!)
The Best There Is By A168GN7A78L7HM on 2006-09-28
I bought these before they ever hit the market. I was searching for an easier way of doing the cutting for Rag Quilts and Chenille Quilting. I saw the ad for these in a craft magazine and because of Black & Decker's great reputation I knew I had to have these. For all you people doing rag quilting and chenille quilting, do yourself and your hands a favor and invest in these scissors. You'll soon find out you'll wish you had gotten these sooner. My husband also loves these and I'm going to order 2 more of these sets very shortly. I've told many people about the ease of use of these scissors and also the fact that they will cut not only fabric but tarp material; vinyl and canvas. There just isn't too much stuff out there on the market that these scissors won't cut through and the blade still stays sharp.
Black & Decker SZ360T 3.6V Cordless Power Scissors By AVGO1LYKADJL6 on 2005-12-24
Black & Decker SZ360T 3.6V Cordless Power Scissors: Very nice does the job efficiently cutting heavy flexible materials. A holding case for safety reasons would be nice.
- Yikes! Why has no one posted where to get the replacement blades?
     By AJVFM1WVZF4OD on 2007-12-13
Took me forever to track down these blades. I can't believe no one has done this previous to me and saved us all the work by posting where to buy them here.
Well here ya go - work done.
Here is the elusive part number, which you need to have to order replacements from DEWALT's website (even though they are Black and Decker, you get the replacements from Dewalt.)

- Makes cutting fabric a breeze
     By A6SOIPWQG0BNQ on 2006-01-24
I sew and cutting fabric is my least favourite part. This scissors makes the cutting a breeze. So far it has handled heavy material and silky fabric well. The shoe blade works well for cutting on flat services and it's quite maneuverable. I'm glad I got it.
- Not What I Expected....Unfortunately For Me
     By A351VXBQIAR0JA on 2006-12-16
I saw this product on a christmas commercial where a woman had to open a child's toy that was covered/wrapped in that awful clear plastic. I have two young children and it is such a pain in the neck (and hands!) to open all those christmas toys vaulted in plastic. So, I thought these scissors were my ticket to an easy morning opening all those christmas present. Unfortunately for me, the scissors were not strong enough to cut through the plastic vault it came in! Ugh. I ended-up returning the scissors. If you want to cut anything softer than plastic, then these are great scissors for you!
- Works like a charm
     By A3PEOF0GX4EN38 on 2006-12-20
This came out of the box fully charged and ready to go. Cuts through the hard plastic case it came in like a hot knife through butter. The Cordless Power Scissors makes a great gift for anyone, man or woman, who would enjoy saving time and elbow grease. You really won't know how you lived without one.
- Works well
     By A11EYMH9UV9XG7 on 2007-01-30
I bought this as a gift for someone who requested it. At first I thought "What kind of lazy fool can't just squeeze scissors?" But I got to using it on heavy plastic and vinyl and it actually speeds up work. So I got one for myself last weekend. Maybe I'm lazy too.
- Not up to claims
     By A3TMY4HH6WONMZ on 2007-02-06
This tool was advertised as a way to cut into the plastic that covers everthing that is bought today, but it dosen't do the job. as for cutting paper ect its ok
- Black & Decker SZ360T 3.6V Cordless Power Scissors
     By A2W9B60XQLDXF7 on 2006-08-03
WONDERFUL - Like a hot knife through soft butter. I got them to trim up quilts after the quilting has been completed and they are great. I never realized how easy they are to use and there is absolutely NO stress on your hands compared to regular scissors or even rotary cutter!! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tool for your sewing or craft room.
- B&D 3.6V Cordless Power Scissors W O W !
     By A2KNZ0Y0V519XH on 2006-08-05
FANTASTIC! If only more products were like this?! I do a lot of chain sewing while quilting, put these in the stand and separate them so quickly that is effortless. Would be even more wonderful if they came with a storage stand. They work really well for cutting rugs/carpet to fit, hands never get tired or sore. Multiple layers - no problem. Black & Decker you did yourself proud!!!
- Does not work
     By A9TQBNATW9XRE on 2007-01-09
It does NOT cut through the plastic as advertised. I'm returning this item. This was the only reason I purchased these scissors, is to cut through those heavy plastic wrapped products.
- Black and Decker Cordless Power Scissors
     By AVJV58W22KT3W on 2006-03-24
These are the greatest thing since sliced bread! I make purses out of heavy upholstery fabric, and these have saved my hands. They zip through any thickness without hesitation and came with a second scissor blade with a flat bottom just for fabric. The different scissor blades (there are two) snap off and on, don't make the mistake I did and try to unscrew them to change them...duh...I love these things. I would buy them again and again and again. They are easy to control, you can even cut sideways! I used to use a rotary cutter but these have sped up my work by at least 100%.

- Great electric scissors
     By A3UZ8CTNSS50H1 on 2006-02-24
I would suggest these scissors for anyone who is looking for scissors of any kind, ignore any other electric ones you might be interested in. After using these scissors you will wonder why you stayed with your old manual scissors or rotary cutters. While scissors and rotary cutters do have their uses, these scissors will probably be my only choice for cutting out patterns and quilt pieces in the future.
These scissors have rechargeable batteries and will not cut if plugged in. They are very lightweight and balanced. I cut out a pattern in about 25% of the time I used to take with a rotary cutter and none of the safety issues that you have with rotary cutters (who hasn't at least once cut themselves).
I have only used these scissors for fabric and really don't plan on using them for any of the other uses for which they are advertised. The only thing that concerns me is whether or not I should buy a 2nd or 3rd pair as backup in case Black and Decker discontinues these.
- Black and Decker Cordless Power Scissors
     By A2HNWE2GLUARL on 2006-03-17
I first became aware of this product when the scissors were very favorably reviewed in a sewing magazine. I have been very pleased with them. They are very stable when cutting fabric either heavy or medium weight. They cut easily and are easy to control. And they sure save some slightly arthritic hands. I highly recommend them.
- This is the best little tool!
     By ASGEI5BWEL7CQ on 2006-06-01
I bought this scissors to use for cutting recycled clothing into rags for our job shop. In recent years I've found my hands won't take that kind of repetative work for any length of time without pain, so I went searching for a tool that would spare my aging hands. I chose Black and Decker's version of the electric scissors because of the company's reputation and because their scissors included a mounting bracket, making it possible for me to mount the scissors on a table and "feed" the material through it, effortlessly cutting it to whatever shape and size desired. I am SO IMPRESSED with the quality and power of this scissors, in such a small pkg and at such a reasonable price, that I've already decided to give it to several people on my list next Christmas. Wheather for heavier cutting jobs or light weight household chores, if you're looking for an excellent general purpose electric scissors, I don't believe you can go wrong with Black and Decker's Cordless Power Scissors. Every household should have at least one!
- Junk - Arrived DOA
     By A2QUD4WIINWK33 on 2006-12-29
Bought for Christmas. When opened it won't charge. The instructions tell you to not return the product. Call the Black and Decker 800 number. But after calling, waiting until they are in the office (M - F 8:00 to 5:00, weekdays only - no holidays) and then waiting on hold for half an hour, they tell you to return it. Nothing they can do. It's probably a dead battery.
- Suit their purpose well
     By A1W58O5TOAVHW0 on 2007-02-19
I bought these for one reason - opening toy packages on Christmas morning. And that it did - stupendously. No more frustration as the kids are screaming for their latest toy encased in three levels of plastic and 643 of those annoying wire ties - you know, those sadistic hybrids of plastic and metal that are twisted about 4 different ways so tightly that you can barely untwist them with needle nose pliers? The ones that cause you to rip the actual packaging (and often the contents of the package) to pieces in hulk-like mania when you can't undo them? These scissors sliced right through them, as well as all the plastic and tape surrounding them.
Like many of the reviews say, there not the most powerful scissors - but if you get them with the word "lightweight" in mind, you won't have a problem. They work great for cutting through relatively firm plastic coverings, wire ties, thin cardboard, etc. I was a little surprised at the size of the actual blades - they seemed very small and not sharp enough. Now that I've used them, I find that they work just fine, and the small size does a pretty good job of preventing little fingers from getting cut (but still be careful).
I can't tell you exactly how long the battery lasts, but I've used these things probably once or twice a week since Christmas (about two months) and haven't had to charge it yet, so it seems to be pretty good there. However, I have some other Black & Decker power tools and the battery life degrades terribly over time - I guess time will tell if that happens with these.
Overall, I am very pleased with this tool. Now when I open things, my pliers, tin snips, utility knife, drill, oxyacetylene torch, and safety goggles can finally stay in the garage. :-)
- B&D Cordless Power Scissors is a good tool
     By A3IW8S4ZGKKO5Y on 2006-02-24
I have more powerful, etc. electric tools for cutting various things, but I got this for my wife to cut material with for sewing, and it works like a charm. Being cordless is a definite plus, also. Cuts double layer of felt - about 3/16" thick - just like butter - this is thickest we have tried. Easy to steer on large pieces of fabric. Definitely outperforms manual scissors on general cutting, and cuts a smooth edge, nothing ragged or torn, just like scissors on paper - regular scissors still needed for precise, careful cutting, cutting to a line or point, etc., as I'd say the repeatability of cutting to a line would be +/- 1/4 inch or more, depending on how careful one was. I'm a tool nut and normally buy pro-tools (read much more expensive), but I knew of no comparable tool that might be better built, and I was not disappointed - highly recommended.
- Finally cordless power scissors that really work
     By A3CTVSO9LJV1VU on 2006-03-08
I really love the new Black & Decker cordless power scissors. I have been sewing for 30 years and have been waiting for this product. It is wonderful to finally buy scissors that actually do what the manufacturer claims and these do. I have lost track of how much money I have wasted on scissors that wouldn't cut through even one layer of the lighest weight fabric. Black & Deckers cut layers of heavy weight like butter. They are just great.
- Cutting Multilayer Wet & Dry Fiberglass
     By AVHFFHJZWGOKS on 2006-08-08
This compact tool is particularly good for accuately cutting wet multilayer fiberglass which has been wetted out between sheets of painters plastic. The small cutting head does not separate the wet layers. After use, the cutting head can be snapped off and cleaned in alcohol. This is a huge improvement over ordinary hand scissors. Large diagonal cuts on dry fiberglass become trivially easy.
- Black & Decker Rechargeable Scissors
     By A107WA0OK88OTG on 2007-01-19
This product would be more effective if the blades of the scissors were pointed instead of blunt so one could puncture plastic coverings on products and then cut into the plastic. Also it would better serve the consumer if the blades were longer and the motor was more powerful so it can cut through cardboard.
- Fan-tab-ulous
     By A2LYN0DCS8GPD8 on 2006-03-24
I am speachless. They cut out the armhole of a childs size 2 garment or 3 pair of denim shorts at once. Can't say more than that!
- Answer to a prayer.
     By AAMC6N0XGZV0T on 2006-12-19
I have had difficulty cutting fabrics for several years and the electric scissors are not strong enough to cut heavy materials. I was somewhat skeptical of the other reviews but I decided to give it a try. What ever you need to cut and it doesn't require a saw, this is the tool. Carpet, foam underlayment, delicate fabrics, canvas, you name it, these babies will take care of it. The only problem I had was taking off one head and putting on the other. That worked its self out with a couple of times of changing them out.
- Won't cut a diaper
     By AF9DGLBFGQ2UR on 2007-01-09
These scissors won't cut a diaper and do not cut plastic much heavier. Not so great on cardboard boxes either. I bought some for myself and some as gifts based on the reviews here and was extremely disappointed. I did find they cut plastic packaging pretty well but find it ironic they were packed in this awful stuff. Anyway, I think they work fine on paper and may be good with fabric, but heavy cutting or even light cutting with plastic (a baby diaper, I just don't get why they won't cut this) is a real chore and not worth it. Fortunately, I did not invest in the their cordless saw after seeing the poor reviews on that item, and I hope others will not expect much of these scissors either.
- It Stinks
     By A1E3XMQ4O5U7OZ on 2007-01-15
It does not do what they imply it will do in the commercials. I bought it to open bubble wrapped packages. The cutters do not open wide enough to get started on the package. It was $20.00 unwisely spent. The worst part is that I bought a pair for a gift and a pair for myself, so I was double times a fool.
- Don't Buy These Scissors, They Don't Work!!!!
     By A1X1K6FX57QFPW on 2008-01-25
Black&Decker SZ360 3.6-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Power Scissors I bought 2 pairs of these
scissors because I thought I finally can get all those" impossible to open" plastic packages opened easily,
and I thought how great they would be for my art projects, cutting fabric, etc. No such luck, they worked for
about a day, cutting easy things like paper & fabric (if you hold it perfectly taut). As I read in another review, it never did cut the blister packages, not even it's own!!! It just kept locking up when you tried to cut
things. It would not even cut thin foamboard!!! Now, it has just died on me, no movement at all. It would be a great product if it worked, it doesn't!! Kim White
