Amazing. By A1CPJKZK0ROS1H on 2006-01-27
I bought this compressor with the intent of airing my tires back up after a day of 4-wheeling. For this purpose, it works amazingly. It comes with an awesome carrying case, and everything else you would expect with a portable air compressor...it will air up my tires quickly--the specs state about 4 minutes to air up a 35" tire.
When running, the compressor is pretty quiet and doesn't vibrate and bounce around. The built-in gauge is quite accurate once the unit is turned off.
In short...buy this air compressor if you have ANY use for it at all. It will easily beat compressors which cost over 3 times what this unit does.
Why there's no cig lighter adapter By A1INL5KPR38Q0H on 2006-06-09
This little machine is capable of pulling so much current, that it would blow most fuses for Cigarette lighters, which is why the adapter isn't included. It needs to be clipped directly to the battery, and is good at filling large truck tires in a couple minutes.
Power on par with AC operated compressors By ASXZ641ZNDLVR on 2007-09-16
I just received the MV-50, and it is a well-built, compact unit with good convenience features. The heavy duty nylon carrying case and 15 foot hose are a pleasant surprise for a modestly priced unit.
The rated output is 72 litres per mimute, or about 2.5 cubit feet. The delivery pressure isn't stated for that volume. The maximum rated output pressure is 120 PSI. These are ratings on par with a light duty compressor operated from AC wall power. The owner's manual is a bit vague on duty cycle, staing that a cool-down is required after 30 minutes of operation. The MV-50 can inflate a flat car tire in about three to four minutes, so there should be no need to worry about duty cycle for most applications.
Several people remarked they wish the MV-50 came with a cigarette lighter attachment. The MV-50's motor draws up to 30 amps, which would melt the contacts or at least blow the fuse on most lighter sockets. For instance, the 12 volt socket on my Toyota truck is rated and fused for 15 amps.
The MV-50 comes with clips for attaching dierectly to the 12 volt battery to maximimize the current it can draw and to make sure it receives full battery voltage. As rated, the MV-50's motor should develop 3/4 horse power or more. This assures plenty of power for rapid inflation.
Another reviewer remarked about finding the MV-50 for only $25. That was apparently a short-lived sale at Pep Boys, where the wrong model was briefly discounted. I think they meant to discount the normally less expensive MV-30. Even at the typical $69-$70 price, the MV-50 is a good value.
Plusses: Modest cost. Included accessories and carry bag. 12 volt portabilty. Well manufactured. Long hose. Air chuck makes positive connection by screwing to tire's Schraeder valve. Fairly quiet operation. Generous CFM and pressure.
Minuses: Needs direct clip-on to battery. The quick-connect fitting is slightly different than the coupling on most air tools. The air chuck must be screwed on to the tire's Schraeder valve.
Over-all, five stars. I recommend the MV-50 with no regrets.
Short Power Cord Means Trouble!! By A3R5AVBRX9ESFJ on 2008-01-01
With a coiled up air line that acts like a spring, the short power cord creates a real problem. It works fine for the side your battery is on, but...the other side is a real problem. Doing everything possible to properly use the full length of the power cord, I found that the coil spring style air line almost ripped out the valve stem from the rear tire. I tried every way of stretching I could to try and ease the stress on the valve stem...but no luck. If you had 2 people to do the job...no problem. One can hold the tension off the stem while the other turns on and watches the pressure guage. Otherwise, look out! There is so much stress on the valve stem, no matter what you do to stretch the stupid (yes I do mean stupid) coil air line...(after all, with a little larger bag, the line could have been made in a non-coil fashion and this would be the answer to all your air inflation dreams!!) As it is, I plan to purchase a cheap set of jumper cables to use to extend the power cord from the pump so I don't rip out the valve stem! Sorry... It could have been a great product but it now turns out to be a pain in the _ss!
Basic without "Bells & Whistles" By A2WGTBZDEUGV4U on 2006-08-09
Compressor provides air at good rate in reasonable time frame. Coiled line provides convenience. AC adapter would be desired addition but there must be a reason it isn't included.
- Over or Under Priced?
     By A2HSD2LSH6IP1D on 2006-02-03
My MV-50 just arrived tonight and it worked fine, it would have made sense if it had a cigarette adaptor than having to use the battery. The gauge starts off from zero and increments by 5psi, so it is off by 5psi! The gauge reads: 0,5,10,15,20,25. At 20psi, it is showing 25psi.
The only confusion is what I found on the internet for some people paying only $25 for this and not $70 plus shipping charges.
The connector is not useful for tight spaces, like a rear motorcycle tire on my Yamaha 650 Maxim.
I think it is going to perform to my racing needs.
- Love the MV50 Compressor
     By A1TIAFZ61V66V9 on 2006-10-28
Just yesterday I got out to my car to find a tire about 80% flat. Within 5 minutes the tire was fully inflated. Saved on having to deal with my spare. High highly recommend this item to everyone
- The little engine that could !!!
     By A107G5FOFOFM59 on 2006-11-02
THE MONEY $ SHIPPING FOR THIS ITEM IS RIGHT. This thing will get up to 125 psi no problem. I have a corsair 2.5 gallon tank & this lil fella, I don't know why you would need anymore!!!! Thx Amazon for the service
- MV50 Rocks
     By A10H8LPDH5CJ4V on 2007-01-12
I received the MV50 for Christams to air up my RAM 1500 Megacab after surf fishing. I gave it a trial run in my driveway today and was very happy. I dropped my front tire down to 15 PSI. The MV50 aired up to 45 PSI in 2 minutes !!! Very cool. With the length of hose and jumper cable attachments I can reach the back right tire as well. You can't beat it for the money.
- Worth every penny
     By A2HBTAIE66KLB2 on 2007-11-20
Before purchasing this item I bought (and returned) one of those ten dollar cheapies that plugs into your cigarette lighter. It'll get the job done, as long as you don't mind the deafening noise and waiting forever for it to air up your tire. Then again, what do you expect for ten bucks?
This thing is MUCH faster and a lot quieter. The day I got it I purposely deflated one of my tires by 15 pounds. It only took about half a minute to fill it back up again. Not bad for something that runs off of 12 volts.
The built-in gauge is reasonably accurate, but I suggest that you over-inflate the tire by a few pounds, then make your final adjustments using a separate tire gauge.
The coiled hose is long enough that I can easily reach all of my tires, including the spare in the trunk. I also like the fact that the fitting that screws onto the tire stem is threaded and made of brass.
The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because the carrying case is too small. Unless you position everything back in the case just right, it's difficult to zip it shut (I'm going to purchase a larger case).
- Very Good Portable Compressor
     By A2KCMBSAB0FFS5 on 2007-03-20
This thing increased the pressure 8 lbs in 20 seconds. You can't beat that in a portable unit. I wish I didn't have to screw the nozzle into the valve stem though.
- Piece of Junk
     By A2JBYHRD97N5ZL on 2007-12-26
I bought this exact compressor from another vendor and it is a piece of junk.
The compressor itself works, but the air hose is inferior.
After my second use, the hose came apart. Very poor crimping on the part of the manufacturer.
This product is made in China which explains the poor quality of teh product.
I would not recommend this product unless you can get it for less than $20, it's not even worth that much.
- Positive, But...
     By AMCVDZY5EVO1I on 2008-02-12
The Q MV50 pump is a great device. And it works just as advertised. My only issue with it is (or was) that the power cord was too short. So I got out the soldering iron and added about 7' of cord.
The problem could have been solved by extending the air line, but it tended to coil up thus putting stress on the valve stem.
Great unit nonetheless.
- great product
     By A93Y4D3H1BANM on 2007-05-12
Works as it should. The fact that it plugs into the battery instead of the cig lighter is a plus, not a minus. I had one that plugged into the lighter and that thing was garbage. While this works great and is plenty powerfull.
Rcommend. Good value for the money.
- Fast Compressor
     By A2VS5NI17FQMEE on 2007-09-17
This is a Great compressor! Worth every penny!
MUCH better than those $20/$40 compressors.
Will fill a 16" auto tire in 3-4 minutes.
The only drawback is that you must open the
hood & connect to the battery terminals.
- Great 12v Compressor
     By A3F7YFHH3634C2 on 2007-12-23
Wow! I've burnt out two cheapo 12v tire inflators/air compressors which took over ten minutes (in 2 x 5 minute sessions with at least 10 minutes cool down in between) to bring my 265x75x16 Bridgestone LT tires from 25 to 35. This beast (must connect directly to battery) did the job in just over a minute and I didn't have to drop any quarters into it -- yes, it does just a good or better job than your 2 x quarters gas station air pump. The coiled air hose is an added, much appreciated feature. The srew-on tire valve adapter works 100% all the time, versus 75% or so for the clip-on type. The included carry bag keeps the unit clean and handy. Worth every dollar I paid for it!
- Excellent ...
     By A2HVEVU2RBTQ1L on 2008-01-10
It's not on-board air, but man this thing rocks... so much better than any of the 12v cigarette lighter plug in ones you can get. I was using some cheap brand one before... airing up my 35" tires from 20lbs to 40lbs took about 45-60min - with this guy I'm done with all 4 in about 15-20min -- watch out when your done... it's freakin hot.. you won't forget after the first time :)
- Unreliable
     By APA23XP3S2LXF on 2008-02-12
This product either works or it doesn't for me. I periodically fill up my tires and almost always have an issue whether it is a blown fuse, cable comes off the alligator clamp, or just doesn't want to work. Like today I wanted to fill up four tires and I was able to do 3 with no problem. When I went to turn it on for the 4th tire it just did not come on. I changed the fuse, moved the clamps around... nothing worked. I have also emailed the company in the past with no response. The screw on connector is a pain at times, you have to fill up more air in the tire because you lose a lot of it while unscrewing the connector. Think it is time to find another compressor.
- Worth the money
     By A3GY9FI0G0IPRZ on 2007-09-11
This compressor works great. I actually hard hired into my truck and installed it in the back. The 15' hose is plenty long to get around to all four wheels. No more .75 cent air at the gas station for me.Also, I have helped several stranded motorist, which is still a good thing to do.
- Nice....
     By AY3DGDXUO5N00 on 2007-10-10
I bought this air compressor only to carry around in my car just in case of a emergency and it works great!
Cons
As mentioned before it comes with a carrying case however the case isn't hard shell but soft. It also comes with a built in PSI reader on machine which I found to not be very accurate even if the machine is turned off. It was kind of hard for me to put back in the case because the cord keep trying to bend because it fits very tight.
Pros
It pumps air quite fast in my 35 PSI tire. It has a sturdy metal design so you don't have to worry about it breaking. It comes with the adpaters for balls and other inflation devices which is cool.
I'm very happy with this product and surely would buy another if this one malfunction.
- Dead out of the box with blown fuse!
     By A8TQOSO3QF9EC on 2008-01-24
This Compressor arrived dead out of the box with a blown fuse!
This should have been a "red flag" to the person testing this prior to shipping?
We replaced the blown out fuse with a known good fuse and this Compressor MV50 would still NOT power-on with a small load attached.
We were only trying to inflate a standard auto tire a few pounds.
We verified that the cables were attached properly with a voltage meter.
+ tested the replacement fuse to make sure it was not also blown.
Even with the verified good fuse the Compressor MV50 would NOT power on under a small load.
This compressor MV50 was a big headache and we returned it pronto!
- Q Industries MV50 SuperFlow Hi-Volume Air Compressor
     By A2Q0PX9OK9RSBU on 2008-05-06
This is a fast compressor I use to inflate 4 tires on a Jeep GC and it takes no time to use. Hooks directly to the battery as it pulls too much amperage to go thru the lighter. I would recommend this to all.
- Best Deal for the money!
     By A2LP6OEH544YSC on 2007-01-16
This package arrived very quick. It arrived secure and in great condition.
- Tough Compressor
     By A8P98DIM7BGOD on 2008-01-19
It's tough and fast. Airs up my 16 inch tires after off roading in under two minutes directly from the compressor. I've hooked mine up to a small (2 gal) air tank mounted under my Land Rover with a pressure switch. It will pressurize the tank in about three to four minutes and I'm able to air up all four tires as quickly as from my industrial compressor at home.
- this is a real monster, plus its quiet
     By A1XDHHQ549Q2JI on 2008-02-16
this product has only 2 shortcomings - the hose is too short and you cannot plug it into the lighter because it is too powerful for the fuse in your car that is connected to the lighter adapter.
but it is amazing. one reviewer said that it is as fast as the pump at your station - nonsense! it is about five times faster at least! i had 25 psi in my tire and i wanted to bring it up to 30 so i turned it on, let it run for maybe 30 seconds, measured and it was already 40 psi!
the bag is also not too small, its just the right size - fits just fine.
the short hose is a serious problem and i will extend the cable on my unit with a bit of soldering and 1 dollar worth of lamp wire.
if you don't know how to solder you will need to seriously think how you will make this unit reach to the farthest tire ...
however for the money the quality of the compressor itself is amazing. it is at least 10 times faster than the plastic unit i had before and at least twice as quiet. for the money, even with the short hose i have simply no choice but to give it 5 stars. if the hose was the right length it would deserve six stars.
- Q Industries MV50 SuperFlow coompressor
     By A2AOGB06CASLKW on 2008-04-05
This unit arrive dead. I sent it to Q Industries some months ago for repair or replacement. I was informed 24 days ago that they were sending another.
It's yet to arrive, I feel I will never see it. Email communications with Tech Support is fast but action taken by the company is as poor as it gets.
I have no idea how well this unit works when operational but at this point I wish I'd never heard of it. You will notice I rated this item one star, however this is more a rating of the company who supports it than the item.

- Quality compressor
     By A2LD7LIWQ738CG on 2008-04-18
I have had the MV50 for two days. It works very good for tire inflation. It is compact and easy to store in the trunk. The only problem is with the air hose. They have a quick connect on the unit that is different than the standard compressors. Therefore you can't use other hoses or adaptors. The hose that comes with it is ok but the screw on adaptor on mine leaks. I have tried to push it in or pull it out as it says in the directions but it still leaks when filling a tire.
- It's Missing?
     By A1HGQ6ILSYB71Y on 2008-06-01
Imagine buying a product that advertises its use on bicycles, basket balls, car tires etc, and finding out that you better have a vehicle battery accessible. It doesn't plug in to an outlet, so hope you don't mind your kids hooking up to your car when they need some air in their tires. Stay away
- Superb product and a great value
     By A1N4AHVCTZ71T on 2008-07-20
Ignore the whiners regarding reviews of this machine. It is terrific value for the money. Yes, it's made in China (so are SONY broadcast televsion cameras, by the way), but the design and construction are first rate. I bought this before participating in Sea Ray Boat's annual "Aquapalooza" raft-up event at Jones's Beach in Long Island, and it did not disappoint! I blew up 5 water toys, all very large, with no problems. The 12V cord is short for a reason, (safety and high current draw) so I placed the unit near my boat battery (duh!). It comes with a range of inflate adaptors, is fused, has a water resistant cover over the power switch, and the coiled cord is very handy (no, it is not made to stretch 20 feet!) again for safety reasons.
In short, highly recommended, well constructed and designed, but you do have to have some common sense, which is in short supply these days
- great high pressure compressor for the price
     By AX8FLA517IZUM on 2007-11-22
I run 110 psi in my trailer tires so I needed a cheap portable high pressure compressor for emergencys. it is not fast but it does do the job.
