Artful, Soothing and Educational
The winner of several industry awards, including the Editor's Choice blue ribbon from Baby Talk, each Twilight Turtle is individually hand painted for a unique, artful look that complements any nursery or children's room. Plush and soft, with a sturdy plastic shell, this nightlight is best placed on the floor in the center of the room, where it projects a starry night sky onto the ceiling and walls. For interactive fun, parents can also sit with their children and identify and describe the features of eight major constellations, including the Big Dipper and the Big Bear, with the help of the beautifully illustrated Star Guide. The Twilight Turtle also includes a warm-hearted story about how Twilight Turtle, separated from his father, uses the constellations to find his way home.

User-Friendly Operation
Simply pressing the button on the turtle's shell ignites the stars and keeps them glowing for a full 45 minutes--just enough time for most children to drift into sleep. At this point, the Twilight Turtle automatically shuts off to preserve battery life. Another push of the button reactivates the projection. In addition, the easy selection of the three soothing color choices allows your child not only to learn to identify different colors, but also to truly experience them as well. Amber radiates warmth and peace; green creates a healing and renewing atmosphere; and blue helps calm the senses. The soft, illuminating glow the Twilight Turtle emits also serves as a nightlight that makes the darkness less frightening.

Makes a Great Gift
A great gift for children who are afraid of the dark, or even adults who have trouble falling asleep, the Twilight Turtle runs on three "AAA" batteries (included). It also comes with a certification of adoption, and measures a compact 14.0 x 5.0 inches (WxH), so it's easy to display and store.

  • not as bad as reviews say

    By AWSZQ1MRHT9CK on 2006-12-12
We got our turtle yesterday and no, the stars don't move and the yellow stars don't show, but my five year old loved having blue stars all over her room. The amber starts would only work if you have very, very dark walls, so they are pretty useless. Finding the constellations can be done if the turtle is in the middle of a large room. I don't know if it was an earlier model that people said the stars only showed if it was right next to the ceiling, but ours works even if it is on the floor. Granted, the stars are more detailed the closer you get, but I left it at the foot of my daughter's bed and her room was covered with stars. So the look of enchantment on her face was worth the thirty bucks, plus the turtle is cute. Also, please pay attention to the age recommendation--it truly is for three and over. My one year old would probably stand on it or drop it and the shell could be damaged, so it is for older children.

  • Good idea, bad implementation

    By A1YKCYNZFXSMBF on 2005-12-23
We were so excited to purchase this product as a nightlite and more. Out of the box the turtle seems very well made. The lights eminating from its back are quite bright. Herein lies the problem. It seems that in order to actually notice that the lights coming from its back are stars and to see all of the constellations, the turtle, according to recommendations, must be placed high on an object in the center of the room. Who has a dresser or something similar in the center of the room? Placing the turtle on the floor diminishes the stars so that the lights simply look like fuzzy indistinct shapes on the ceiling. Putting it on a dresser near the wall also doesn't work because the full constellations won't appear on the ceiling.

  • Great nightlight

    By ANJO8603MI80S on 2006-03-20
My husband and I actually bought the turtle for ourselves. It sits on a chair in our bedroom - we turn it on every night before bed. The turtle is very cute and has three color lights to choose from (blue, white and green). The stars are kinda blurry with the white light, but are clear with the green and the blue. The light is soft and lasts just long enough to get to sleep.

  • LOVE IT! Highly Recommended!

I am an avid stargazer and have been looking for the perfect celestial touches for my soon-to-be-arriving baby's room. This is the most adorable and unique night light I have ever seen! It works beautifully - the star projections on the ceiling are great, and I am especially thrilled that they are actual constellations. To the reviewer who complained about the shell breaking and injuring her 18-month old, it says on the box that this is for ages 3 and up. It's not meant for babies to play with; it's more of a night light than a toy anyway. Overall I think it is a high quality, wonderful item and I would recommend it to anyone!

  • Twilight Turtle: Your Star Burns Dim

    By A1MMMIEFYCSG82 on 2006-08-12
Overall, I love the Twilight Turtle and he proudly sits in the center of my bed. Yes, I'm 30 and I don't care. This is a good gift for any turtle lover. However, the amber light feature is so dark, it can hardly be seen. Also, it is promoted as the first ever completely plush nightlight. Maybe "plush" means something else (Lord knows language is changing over night) but my turtle shell is made of a thick plastic armor. Is that "plush?" But, I will say this. I love it anyway and use it nightly. Shine on you crazy turtle.

  • Great product
    By A37LMYI6J77I87 on 2008-01-14
First, let me say, that I bought this early, as I have a newborn (3 months old), but at some point my daughter will be old enough to sleep in her own room, and as most kids do, she will want a nite-light.
Well, I was skeptical at first, but this thing really does produce a cool looking and relaxing night sky on the ceiling. Say goodbye to those lame, glow-in-the dark stars that you put on the ceiling of your kids' rooms...you know, the ones that never really hold the glow. This thing projects a beautiful sky, and in 3 different colors (although they claim the red is mostly for the nite-light usage).

The quality is really nice, although the buttons for the lights could be designed a bit better...they are hard plastic, whereas a more traditional rubber coating would have been a bit more comfortable.
Pretty much the only reason I didn't give this thing 5 stars, is because it would have been perfect if it had offered a music function, and maybe a bit of movement or twinkle in the stars. Then it would have gotten 5 stars from me hands-down.
But, as it is, it is the BEST nite-light product I have found, and I don't think it is only for young children, as the sky looks cool even to an adult...very relaxing.

Bottom line...this is a no-brainer purchase whether you have kids or not.
    BUY IT.

  • In defense of the Amber setting!
    By A30NI5YLQ5W42O on 2007-05-08
We love this! I am considering getting a "back up." Our 4 month old baby was totally entranced by the stars! It is terrific! Such a cute little turtle too. The stars are very soothing. The blue is easiest to see at first, but after your eyes adjust to the darkness, the blue and green are too bright and the amber is the perfect "glow." I used it for late night nursing and it was the perfect amount of light. We have 10' ceilings and the stars show up extremely well. They are "five pointed" stars -- not various sized dots like I expected but still enchanting.
Edit: now at 13 months, still used every night! A beloved toy for our now toddler and I love it to! If it seems dim, it just needs a new battery or time for my eyes to adjust.

  • cute but harmfull

my 18 month old loved the twilight turtle ,that is until a part of the plastic shell broke and cut him , (3 stiches), a good nitelite for infants , but by no means is it a toy for older babies. buyer beware

  • Wonderful Night Light
    By A1EBH9HF779PKQ on 2006-02-12
Wonderful item. My husband and I purchased the turtle to help our infant daughter fall asleep. Within minutes she would be off to dream land. Our 3yr old son also loves the turtle. He would sit in her room and gaze at the stars every night so we decided to purchase another one for his room. This is obviously not a toy use a dresser or shelf for best results.

  • Way to Expensive for What You Get
    By A8FYR8L7DIN2Q on 2006-09-10
The Grandparents sent this to our 2 yr old son. The first one did not work when we received it. We had to send back at our cost and they re-sent us one which worked. You have to put it close to the ceiling and in the middle of the room for the stars to look like anything recognizable. Who normally places a tall piece of furniture right in the middle of your child's room?? It has a constellation chart, which is useless, because the stars are blurry and distorted in arrangement. The colors don't change automatically and it seems to be more of a distraction to my son's falling asleep than anything. When I saw the list price for this in an airline magazine, I was astounded. I wouldn't pay more than $10 for this cheap novelty item.

  • A sweet product
    By ALLRY9XNDXTI8 on 2007-12-29
I bought this product for my 7 month old daughter. My son (2) has the Twilight turtle. We have always liked the turtle, but there were some flaws. For example, the yellow did not show up on the ceiling/walls no matter where it is placed in the room, and there is no off button. So it goes through batteries because my son is constantly turning it on at all times of the day. With this being said my son will not go to sleep without the turtle. We even take it on vacations. As mentioned I bought the lady bug for my daughter. I had planned on buying her the turtle, but when I saw the bug I couldn't resist. Cloud B has made some modifications since the turtle and they are for the better. The on button is also an off button. They removed the yellow and replaced it with a red, which is to be used as a nightlight....it does not project the stars. So far I do not have any complaints.

  • The best night light for kids of all ages.
    By A2WTDZ4ATDG3S on 2005-12-06
This is a must have, no doubt about it. Makes the perfect shower or birthday gift. The stars really project onto the ceiling at night and you can choose from 3 shades, purple/blue, green or white. It automatically shuts off so the batteries don't drain all night. I was skeptical at first, now everyone who see's it wants one.

  • Not as good as it sounds
    By A1HRWTF60EU219 on 2006-07-28
I purchased the Twilight Turtle only after reading the reviews of how great of an idea this was, and I am sorry to say that I am disappointed. I was under the impression that it alternated between the colors, which it does not. Also the amber light is not bright enough, I had to hold it a foot away from the ceiling to see the stars and this was in a pitch black room. The product would be good if it was a little better thought out.

  • LOVE IT!!!
    By A38GJX2ULM3VUC on 2007-11-17
I purchased this for my kids to share (18m and 4 years) and have decided now I have to order the turtle as well. It is so nice and soothing, I honestly wish I'd gotten it much earlier... love it.

  • Greatly Disappointed
    By ABTU8RA5B577N on 2005-12-27
During the last year, my 3 year-old has become fascinated by the stars and the planets. He can recognize the Big Dipper and Orion; he often asks me to point out Pegasus. His grandmother thought that the Twilight Turtle would be terrific not so much as a night light, but as an educational toy. The box even suggests "ideal for ages 3 to adult". We were all greatly disappointed. The constellations are indistiguishable unless the turtle is less than a foot from the ceiling. Furthermore, the white light blurs the points of the stars. Lastly, (and I know I'm nit-picking here) the constellations are incorrectly sized and misplaced when compared to the actual night sky. The twilight turtle maybe more suitable for an infant, but my son is growing past the need for a night light. We are going to return it.

  • Disappointed and still waiting....
    By A39VNU9PJT7P89 on 2006-01-06
Our daughter was really excited to get the twilight turtle from Santa on Christmas morning. It is really cute and seemed well made. We were all very excited for night time to give it a try but then came the disappointment. There was only the faintest light coming from the turtles shell - you can only see the light when you peer inside his shell. Customer service at Baby Because was very prompt and friendly and told us they would ship a replacement immediately. Our daughter learned that not even elves are perfect. And we're still patiently awaiting the replacement... UPDATE 1/9 we rec'd the replacement and the lights work - very cool! Our daughter loves it! Problem now is that it only stays on for 1 min. then shuts off (should be 45 min). Calling for support in the am. We're not giving up yet.... Ooops, I failed to update.... It took four tries (the third unit had the same problem as the first) but we finally got one that works! It's a very neat item and our daughter loves it! Bummed that it took so many tries but kudos to Baby Because customer support for prompt replacements!

  • Fell apart within a week of purchase
    By ACF61YE883U96 on 2007-04-04
This cute turtle was terrific for about a week. My toddler loved it and enjoyed the stars and color options. Unfortunately, the button you press to turn it on fell off inside the turtle after about a week of use. I was the one pressing the button when it came off, and I wasn't being rough or using excessive force. We had to shake the turtle to get the button out but couldn't re-fasten it easily. For a few days we stuck a finger in the small hole where the button used to be to activate the turtle, but then the rubber sensor fell off as well. With no way to turn the thing on, we threw it away. My toddler was sooooo sad, but it was worthless to us. Since this is overall a popular product, I suppose we just had bad luck. I wouldn't buy another one, though!

  • Sleep time isn't a chore
    By AZL3Y52EA0K75 on 2005-10-01
The Sleep Sheep has been a lifesaver. My son is 6 months old and has just started teething. We can always get him to goto sleep whenever we turn on his little Sleep Sheep, no fusses, no hassles. It fastens securely to his crib and is durable enough to travel with us. I love it.

  • great concept, bad execution
    By A2Q8NQKS53T29P on 2007-01-18
I bought this item because it had good reviews, and looked really cool. It's a turtle with 3 different colored LED lights on the inside that are supposed to project stars in a room or on a ceiling.

Of the 3 colors - green, amber and blue - only the green and blue are noticable in pitch black. The amber is almost a waisted option because you can't see it.

My problem with this item is it only works in pitch black, and barely in that case. The product shots show it sitting on a nursery floor shining up at the ceiling, this is sooooo impossible. The turtle needs to be at least 2 feet from the ceiling in order to see any of the stars.

A total disappointment. I returned it.

  • Excellent birthday gift for my daughters!
    By A8AHHH5C6SBTE on 2007-11-24
I had seen these turtles in a magazine and thought they were creative and unique. When shopping in a local store, I found them sitting on the shelf...and bought 2 of them, one for each of my daughters' birthdays (turning 1 and turning 5). They were given recently and both girls love them.

It took some figuring to find the right placement so the stars would show up as best as possible on the ceiling. And like other reviews have said, the amger stars don't show up real well...but the green and blue work really well. They add a soft, subtle light to the room without being too bright. Both girls - especially the 1-year-old - like staring at the stars at lights out time. I like the 45-minute timer...plenty of time for the girls to fall asleep, but not on all night.

I don't know how much of an educational aspect the turtles offer, as the constellations are a bit tricky to see, even with the included star charts. However, I wasn't looking for a teaching tool in the turltes, I was more interested in the unique night light. I have a feeling both girls will get a lot of use out of their turtles.

Overall, I think these are a great concept and would recommend them.

  • Not as expected
    By A3TGFRW3QGD5VP on 2006-01-09
I had been very excited to receive this item, but was seriously disappointed when I turned it on. Not only does the turtle need to be close to the ceiling to see the stars clearly, but it also needs to be near the center of the room. I am considering hanging it from the ceiling by fishing wire!!!! My second complaint is that the shell is plastic and pretty fragile. My son has already broken off a peice of the shell into a very sharp fragment. Don't waste your money!!

  • Great Shower Gift
    By A31F8SKVLWAPI3 on 2007-01-20
This is perfect for a shower gift! It's actually perfect for any toddler's birthday as well. My two year old loves his Twilight Turtle. It's on a 30 minute timer so it works well for any child, especially those who are a little afraid of the dark. We highly recommend this to everyone!

  • Overpriced, disappointed in quality
    By A23YH6GM9EARVF on 2008-06-26
For what I paid, I'm really disappointed.

    PROS
-light weight, no cords, can be placed anywhere with ease
-great idea for a night light
-enchanting when its placed just right (in middle of a small room set 5-6 feet up)
-self timer off at 45 minutes

    CONS
-too expensive for the quality of the item
-cheaply made, and you cannot replace the light inside once the bulbs burn out (3 separate amber, blue and green bulbs - NOT led so they won't last too long)
-the constellations are very difficult to make out (I love astronomy and can identify stars very easily in the night sky) - these are ambiguous and badly placed and sized
-only some of the stars (a few directly above the turtle) show up on the wall as 'star' shaped - the other half look like Star Trek Federation symbols, those triangular things, or like blobs
-impractical to place - if you place it on furniture along the walls of a room ie. on the dresser or on top of a shelf, you get a cluster of tiny stars against the nearby wall and loose fuzzy big stars on half the ceiling, and none on the other wall (in a room 12x14)

Save your money and get some other machine / light to make constellations. I may try to get my money back based on the poor quality. A shame since its such a great idea.

  • Great item! Lots of stars!
    By A1HWEKT60MXTLC on 2007-03-29
I was really surprised w/this item. We're expecting our first baby & I'm decorating our nursery in moon/stars. I had been putting off buying this turtle b/c of the price and was expecting a small size turtle. I finally decided to purchase & I'm very pleased with my purchase. I just had to try it out myself this evening, it lit up our entire living room ceiling. I agree with the other posters about the colors. The blue shows up really good, the amber color is really blurry/hard to see the stars and the green is simply so-so. Overall I'm happy with this cute item and recommend it, especially to those decorating a nursery with moon/stars theme and don't want to put up those tacky plastic stars on the ceiling or have to paint the ceiling.

  • Cute, but not well made for the price.
    By A2ET0XAUAGFWR4 on 2007-07-31
My daughter got this turtle last year for Christmas, and she loved it right away. However, there are major drawbacks to this item.

The stars do not move or rotate in any way. As opposed to other comparable items on the market, this is one feature that is missing.

The booklet that accompanies the toy does not actually include that much educational material about astronomy; the bulk of it is a made-up story (like a fairy tale) about a magical turtle. So, this really isn't age-appropriate for older children.

Third, the lights are bright when you first get the turtle out of the box, but they dim very quickly. It is important to note that the room must be absolutely pitch black for this item to work! The lights are not bright enough to show if the room is only semi-dark. If there is even so much as a nightlight on in the room, it is difficult to discern the stars.

The blue and green lights are really the only ones that are very visible. The amber function is basically useless; even when the room was black-black, it did not project very good stars.

The name is misleading. The turtle will project star shapes onto the ceiling, but they are actually just big, dim star shapes, not realistic looking astral pinpoints, and my husband, an astronomy nerd, can't find any constellations when they are on the ceiling.

OK-HERE is the BIG drawback. This is made very poorly. It is designed so that if it breaks (and it can break easily), you CANNOT fix it yourself. My daughter was very gentle with this, and it was broken within 3 months of use (by use I mean just sitting on a table and being turned on at night).

Our daughter loved this toy when she got it and used it every night. However, it really should not be called a toy; it should be called a "device," because you cannot play with it. The inner mechanics make it too hard to cuddle with or anything, and if you shake it or drop it, even at a close distance and on carpet, it will break. If you push the buttons very hard at all, they will pop off and fall inside the turtle, and you cannot retrieve them. The fabric part on back of the turtle is actually glued on and cannot come off of the shell, so if the buttons fall off, you can't reconnect them, and once the light source burns out, you can't replace it--you have to buy a new one. Given how delicate it is, it should not be called a toy. There is no point making it look like a cute turtle if it can't be played with at all for fear that it will be instantly broken.

Also, I agree with other reviewers. The ceilings in my daughter's room are only 8 feet high and we still had to place the turtle on a chair to get the stars to show up.

  • Cool idea, poor construction
    By A900K7I306SC6 on 2006-07-27
The twilight turtle is a really neat idea. 3 different colors can be used by selecting the switch. I thought it performed color changes prior to purchase. It works well if you use the blue color. Oh, and you will need to put it about 4-5 feet from the ceiling for the constellations to look sharp. I dont know about you but I'm not going to install a tall table right in the middle of the baby room so the stars look better.

They need to allow for better range of the lighting

  • Twilight Turtle
    By AQ1UPSM0JN4CS on 2007-01-28
I recently purchased this for my 4 year old. Very cute--turtles eyes are closed as if asleep already, soft fur body with a shell that emits a very soft, calming light--not too bright although the amber is less vibrant than the blue or green. Another reviewer said their turtle only projected stars when 2 feet from the ceiling--but I have 9 ft ceilings and I placed the turtle at the foot of my son's bed and the stars are very easily viewed. If you have very high ceilings the stars may not be as visable. I unplugged his regular night light until he was asleep so the stars were unhindered and then plugged it back in so he wouldn't get scared. I think this would work well too if you were able to have a sound machine or lullabies in conjunction for those young ones or anyone for that matter--ha! who fight sleep. Hope this helps!

  • Expensive for what it is
    By A1E6OPGQ6S6AA6 on 2007-04-10
My daughter loves the Twilight Turtle, but I was a little disappointed when I received it. It is much smaller and cheaper looking than advertised. The lights aren't as strong as they could be and the orange is very hard to see on the ceiling. A more reasonable price would have been around $20-$25...for what you get--over $30 was too much money. Having said that, my 2 year old sleeps with it every night and really enjoys looking at the stars all over her bed, ceiling and pajamas!

  • Great at Night
    By A2LOTKB5T4V45 on 2007-11-07
I bought this product for my son after reading the great reviews.
The product is well made and quite cute. I liked the booklet which accompanies it. The story is cute.
I was a little disappointed in the blurry effects of the stars on the ceiling. The chart that accompanies the turtle, doesn't really help in identifying the stars.
What is cool about this product is that it is a cool night light for my son. He enjoys looking at the stars, blurry as they are, when he doesn't fall asleep right away.
When he was sleeping in the same room as my husband and I, our room would be softly illuminated, but not to that point of not being able to sleep.
I am pleased with the product, as it is cute. I was however, disappointed with the amber lights as they are not visible. The blue and green are cool.

  • Great night light!
    By A2SIQI6S73IP0Y on 2005-12-08
This is just too cute. It projects really well and I like the choice of colors. I want to try the other products in the line now. I just wish they sold them at local stores.
