  • Solid but not quite solid enough

    By A187QZ8TLZKY9K on 2007-10-08
I purchased this item for my Sanyo PLV-Z5. I previously (in my former house) had a Chief mount. Chief mounts cost twice as much as this one. When I opened the package for this, I was pleasantly surprised; very dense, high quality metal, nice solid customization, easy to use screws, etc. But once I actually got it up on the ceiling, I was disappointed to discover it does not have a full range of tilt settings, but more critically, it is very difficult to have perfectly steady and secure. It took me an hour to get it even with the screen and I'm still (months later) tinkering with it to get the screws as tight as I can. It's hard to describe what I'm talking about without having one, but basically, the screws that you tighten to make sure the projector doesn't shake at all are not tough/large/secure enough to keep it from shaking. I'm not talking the San Andreas fault here. It's probably not perceptible to someone not familiar with home theater stuff. But I notice.

On the whole though, for half the price of chief you get something ALMOST (not quite) as good. Pretty good deal and product.

  • Great deal, though the instructions are lacking

    By A3IFY8P0F02GK3 on 2007-08-20
I used this to mount a Sanyo PLV-Z2 projector. It works great and I am very pleased now that it is up on the ceiling. The mount works by having little arms screwed into the middle that protrude out to the mounting holes on the projector. They do provide several short arms, several medium length, and several long ones. It can be tricky to select the correct lengths, since selecting ones that are too long cause them to interfere with each other.

It does not come with mounting screws, though they provide so many screws that it is probably possible to just use some of the extras. I used some of my own that I had lying around the house.

The instructions are vary vague, but not impossible to figure out. I gave this 4/5 stars solely based on the poor instructions, otherwise it would be 5/5. My main complaint is that they provide a package full of screws. There are several pouches with 4 screws each (all marked A, B, C, and so on up until I or J) but the sizes are not marked anywhere! I came to the conclusion that A, B, C, were all the same size (just different lengths) and the same with D, E, F and so on. I'm still not sure that's accurate but I wound up finding screws that seemed to fit and used them.

Adjusting the mount with the projector on it was a bit tricky, but I don't believe this is anything specific to this mount. I have a screen and previously had the projector sitting on a shelf I mounted on the wall opposite the screen. I remember it took a long time to adjust it even on the shelf to exactly fit the screen. Adjusting the image to fit the screen will be a bit painful no matter which mount you choose.

I would recommend having a ladder so that you can be sure to see and reach everything without having to stretch yourself. All in all this took me about 3 hours from start to finish. This includes finding the correct screws, finding the correct lengths for the arms and attaching them, drilling into the ceiling for the mount (make sure to use a stud), and then mounting and adjusting the picture to fit the screen. If I had to do it again, I could probably get it done in 60-90 minutes (most of which would be adjusting the picture to perfectly fit a screen).

Make sure to mount it as close to the center of the screen as possible. Shifting it left/right or up/down WILL distort the picture. The further you shift it, the more distortion you will get. Fortunately, most projectors provide options in the menu that will allow you to fix the distortion (up to a certain point) and make the screen rectangular again. The closer you mount it towards the center of the screen, the less time you need to spend fixing the distortion.

Finally, be sure to mount the projector somewhere on the ceiling where fans, light fixtures, etc. will not be obstructing the image.

  • Okay product but comes without the shaft

    By A3V9H2X1IFVZDI on 2007-03-01
The product itself is constructed well and very is very sturdy. Looks a bit complicated to setup at first. The picture currently being shown of the product shows a shaft (a rod with holes to make the product longer), but this product actually does not have the shaft, so the projector will be very near to the ceiling, which is not suitable for vaulted ceiling or suspended ceiling. Had to return mine. Return transaction with amazon went smoothly.

  • Not bad for the price.

    By A1SBHFKQ0RW9AK on 2006-11-09
I have an HP vp6310. This projector mount was very inexpensive when compared to other universal mounts, and it is very sturdy and works as advertised.

I would easily give it 4 or 5 stars, but the kit did not come with the appropriate size bolts for the HP vp6310. It DOES come with about ten different sizes bolts which is great, it just didn't have a small enough thread for the vp6310.

  • Gran producto, le faltan los tornillos para el video proyector

    By A3MVQI7GPEI9YN on 2007-01-16
Permitió instalar mi Optoma H31 480p DLP Home Theater Projector, sólo que tuve que comprar en la ferretería los tornillos apropiados para fijar el proyector a esta base.

  • * No mounting hardware included*
    By A349FTQB7SZ7KS on 2007-06-20
The unit comes with everything that is needed to adjust the mount to your projector.

One would thing that a ceiling mount for a projector MIGHT come with bolts to put it into the ceiling? Thankks Atdec! Now I get to run to the hardware store because I need two bolts to put into my ceiling. I was stupid to think that standard universal bolts would be included. Granted that not every ceiling is the same but they could have included two bolts/screws that could be screwed into a ceiling joice.

I'll update this later once I have all the appropriate hardware.

I am very angry about this. I can't believe the reviewers above didn't mention it.

  • Telehook Flush Projector Mount Universal Ceiling Mount
    By A1ZM0X8U5C4WHT on 2007-05-15
Great price very functional! NO need to spend the hundreds for which most products such as this seem to list. Unless it's worth a couple hundred to you to avoid minor niggling issues such as enough slop
in the final attachment fitting tolerances to create wobble that makes fine tweaking of projector aim a bit tedious. Nothing a little creative shimming didn't correct though. Besides, I have no way of knowing the more expensive options don't have the same tolerance issues!

  • easier than expected
    By A16XK11QZQWG1O on 2008-04-29
I'm not the handiest guy and expected the mounting process to be a chore. However, I had no issues whatsoever. This thing comes with many different screw sets and one set exactly matched my Mits HC1500. From that point on, it was a piece of cake. It's very stable when locked in position. Occasionally the projector shakes, but that's only because my kids are jumping around and shaking the floor upstairs which vibrates the basement ceiling beam on which it's mounted. (A quick shout upstairs usually solves that issue.)

Also, I had to exchange the projector once so I went thru the mounting/unmounting replacement cycle and had no issues whatsoever. Overall a great product.

  • Great product - Easy to intall
    By A3VS7NYM0K4Z7K on 2007-04-10
I bought this product to mount my Mitsubishi HD1000U 720p High Definition DLP Home Theater Projector. It comes with pre assembled and easy to mount.

  • Not complicated at all
    By A2QA249SAHO289 on 2007-06-09
I thought it was going to be hard to install but it turned out to be quite simple. Its is strong and sturdy and I feel my proyector is safe.

  • great for the money
    By A103NYAKBG7OHG on 2007-08-10
It seems like someone could come up with a cheaper option for such a simple need, but this one is very good. Gets the job done for not a lot of money. The setup makes it so that you'll be able to use it no matter what type of mount your projector has, and it comes with an incredible array of metal screws, so you're sure to have the right ones. The only thing you'll need is the double threaded studs for the ceiling and the nuts and washers to go with them. This is a good value.

  • Semi-difficult to install
    By A1GNP21VIR6B7V on 2008-03-09
I've only used this for my one projector, a Mitsubishi HC4900.
It comes with four legs to attach to your projector that can be moved to almost any position. To bolt do the ceiling the unit comes with two different bolt types, one for straight into the support beam and the other for drywall.

The only part of this that is really difficult to operate is that the unit separates into two sections, the one that attaches to the projector and the other that attaches to the ceiling.

To start you attach the ceiling mount to the ceiling and then the projector mount piece to the projector. At this point is where I found it semi-difficult to install. You have to lift the projector above your head and insert projector mount into the ceiling mount and then hold it there while you screw it down. It almost requires three hands, and I had to use my head to stabilize the projector during the process. My opinions is that that could have been easier.

Also if you wanted to tilt to the left or right, up or down, I found it easier to grab the project mount and pull rather than loosening the bolts. Loosing the bolts was extremely annoying.

All said and done, it works. I'd give it a 3.5 rating if possible, but in the end it was easy to use and I feel secure in it's installation.

  • Very good

It was little confusing at first how to fit into my Mitshubishi 1000U projector, but after while I was able to use it.

  • Great price, hard to adjust
    By A2LVCYKVLKJKHC on 2007-07-17
I bought this to mount my infocus in72. Good overall but very dificult to get adjusted perfectly. Came with all necessary hardware to mount my projector.

  • Works as advertised
    By A2P74YARG9WKBL on 2007-08-16
This worked great for my Mitsubishi HC3 projector. It does involve using an alan wrench to make adjustments and/or remove the projector from the ceiling, but it's not too bad.

One thing to be aware of though is that it does not come with hardware to mount the bracket to the ceiling, so I had to go out and buy some screws for that. Otherwise, it works great.

  • Great Mount for Optoma HD70
    By A3QPIBJL0KKOHV on 2007-12-15
I used the Atdec Telehook Universal Projector Flush Mount to mount my Optoma HD70. I did have to buy toggle tolts to secure the mount where it needed to be, but I knew that before I bought it. The whole mount took me a couple of hours to mount. Most of that time was due to having to find the exact location it needed to be mounted for my projector to work in the viewing room.

  • works with mits hc4900
    By A1E9ZGJEY5KFYJ on 2008-02-18
solid little bracket, all the adjustments you'll need, great price and comes with many sizes of screws. works well with my mitsubishi hc4900 right out of the box.

  • I'm glad I bought it.
    By A1RTN0RI2QETBW on 2007-09-19
The Universal Ceiling Mount was easy to configure to our projector with lots of hardware to set it level. It was a very easy to install.

  • A bit pricey, but did the job
    By A26JY2QUIW8I8D on 2007-09-22
This is a solid mount. Other than not including the screw/bolt you'll need to attach this to the ceiling, it has everything you'll need.

  • A bargain. And it came with the screws.
    By A3053L8YAWOS5P on 2007-11-03
First, this mount works fine at less than half the price of most others. It is a bit tricky to adjust, but how often must you do that? It's very adaptable, with many different projector mounting screws that should cover any projector. Despite what previous reviewers have said, it came with two #14 hex head screws and washers for hanging the mount either directly from a joist or (using plastic plugs) simply from wallboard. I would not trust wallboard mounting myself, but it would probably work with a lightweight projector.

The projector mounting screws come in two bags. The smallest (one length of 2.5 and two lengths of 3.0 metric screws) are in one bag which I failed to notice at first. Since I needed the 2.5Ms for my Optoma projector, I picked up some at the local hardware store -- only to later find the supplied ones in the separate bag. All the other projector mounting screws are in a large plastic bag with separate compartments for each size. Unfortunately the compartments are labeled with letters, and the instruction leaflet only refers to them by size. Once I discovered the three smallest screw sizes in their separate bag, I then noticed that the other screws were listed in the parts inventory in the same order as the letters on the compartments. Knowing that, you can easily figure out which screws are which, but it would have been much better to show the letters with the sizes in the instruction leaflet.

Overall, I am quite pleased with this mount. And being a universal mount should make it simple when I upgrade to an HD projector.

  • Great universal projector mount
    By ALV011FWG1P68 on 2007-12-18
I was a bit skeptical because the mount was so inexpensive, but for a being a universal mount, it is actually quite nice. It does the job as expected.

  • THIS IS A GREAT UNIT- I have rarely found a better projector mount
    By A39D55Q2JL5EZJ on 2008-01-19
From reading other reviews I thought these would be ok, but not great and most likly requiring parts.
But to my suprise, these unit came with every imaginable nut, bolt, screw, etc.
The assembally process is easy and streight forward, and they are rock solid once you tighten the top locking bolt.
I run an A/V rental house and I have rarely found a better projector mount for todays small light weigth DLP projectors.
Great mount for the dollar, still a good option at twice the price.

  • Good solid bracket
    By A3B1WHC6L05Q8 on 2008-01-24
This is a very solid bracket. It mounts easily onto the ceiling and on to a special cradle that I made to support my projector. The cradle allows me to remove the projector from the ceiling position in under10 seconds. Although the bracket is designed to fix to the projector, it would be much more complicated to remove the projector without my cradle being used. However, the bracket allows me to position the cradle in the exact position needed and is easy t6o adjust in all of the required directions.

  • Good looking and a sturdy mount
    By A4LW74H0STQ2R on 2008-02-22
After reading reviews I was thinking it would be difficult to install and align, once you have planned what needs to be done job becomes easy. I used the mount for my Dell 2300MP and the hardware for the projector comes in a seperate cover.
I would recommend to do a dry run how you will be aligning before you put it to the ceiling as it becomes hard later to align. Also remember not all projector have their lens in the center, so don't center the mount in the middle of the ceiling.
Don't tighten the nuts and bolts until you are 100% satisfied with the alignment.

  • Came Fast and Worked as Promised
    By A221QWS9CMHEO3 on 2008-03-03
Bought the mount and it came within a week. It comes with extra arms of different sizes to ensure you can mount your projector and I actually HAD to use the smaller arms it came with. I 'could' have gotten it to work with the longer arms but the convieniance of the smaller arms mades this a 5 star product. Plenty of hardware to get this mounted, including a cement kit so long as you can drill into the brick/cement and know how to use the anchors.

  • Almost just right
    By A1ZV48HWNWKMK4 on 2008-04-16
This mount fit my Mitsubishi HC1500 perfectly. It had all the hardware I needed and a very generous amount of extra hardware, enough to adapt it to any projector. It is adjustable 360 degrees around, about 90 up and down, and side to side a couple of inches. It was easy to install. The only downfall is that I didn't realize it was white and I would have preferred black. My fault.

  • Works fine
    By A2IZ5HDVZUK0PQ on 2008-04-20
Plenty of extra arms and spacers to fit almost any size projector. Went up easy without a hitch and is flexible to adjust to any angle. Doesn't drop down from the ceiling too far either. My Optoma is smaller so I don't now how it would work with a large projector but it might be a little wobbly with extra weight.

  • Mount
    By A3VTKHM4S0BYMT on 2008-05-25
This universal mount is truly universal and will adapt to any projector with the right choice of included brackets. The finished result looks neat and sturdy and has more than enough adjustment possibilities. Very happy with the purchase

  • Well built mount
    By AQ0KCXRSOJO96 on 2008-05-27
Very well built mount, easy install and allows for a large range of adjustments and fine tuning. Would think this mount would work for just about any projector with included screws and support bars.

  • Funtional but tricky to set up
    By A2ZPE3MVUSG14F on 2008-05-29
I paired the Atdec TH-WH-PJ-FM mount with an Optoma HD70 720p DLP Home Theater Projector a few months ago, and I've got to say that once we got it all set up, it was worth every penny.
