Solid and sturdy construction. By A291XTI6NO7DEG on 2006-03-18
I'm entrusting this wall mount to hold up my Viewsonic VA912-4 19" LCD. So far it has worked out beautifully.
BUT! I had to go to Lowe's to buy screws that fit the VA912. Even though the Viewsonic specifications clearly state that it has Vesa 100mm complient mounting holes on the back of the monitor, the 14mm screws provided with the Peerless Wall Mount were TOO LONG. They bottomed out on the display and had about 1/16th of an inch to go before the arm would be tight against the LCD's back. Washers didn't seem to allow it to tighten down securely enough.
If you have a Viewsonic display I STILL HIGHLY recommend this mount. But, I recommend you go out and buy four M4-.7 x 12mm machine screws. The screws provided are M4-.7 x 14mm and M4-.7 x 25mm. The 25mm screws are to be used with the plastic spacers (provided) for displays "with a hole pattern in a pocket."
Everything that came in my box:
(1) wall arm assembly
(4) M4-.7 x 14mm
(4) M4-.7 x 25mm
(4) .437H (plastic) spacers
(2) #14 x 2.5" flat head wood screw (these are big!)
(1) 4mm Allen wrench
(1) 5mm Allen wrench
(2) concrete anchors (yeah, you can hang this thing from a cinder block wall OR a stud in your drywall.)
You'll need to be able to find a stud in your wall, a drill, a big Philips head screw driver and I recommend a level or a friend that can 'eyeball' it for you (you want your monitor level, don't you?)
Don't let my experience discourage you! This arm is sturdy, trustworthy and quite useful for clearing up your desk. And who knows, maybe the screws provided will work for your LCD.
UPDATE: After 2 years, I am still very pleased with this thing. No sagging, no bending or twisting, no problems.
Excellent Product, One Small Issue By A33SFSEVHL5SHK on 2007-02-14
This unit is solid and very well made. THe mounting flange mates perfectly with my NEC 20" LCD monitor and the included screws fit as they should. In a few minutes I got my desk back! What's strange about this unit however is that even after I used a carpenter's level to mark the placement of the mounting holes on the wall, I found that the LCD is still not level when the entire setup is assembled. This means remounting the whole assembly at once rather than the mount and then the monitor (which is what the instructions show). This seems needlessly inefficient and a little precarious since the monitor and mounting hardware are all hanging by one screw while it's being done. Some users may not even worry about the screen not being level, but mine is mounted in front of picture frames and the out-of-level condition is conspicuous by comparison. (Dry wall anchors are included with the unit, but I strongly suggest not using them; find a wall stud and mount it right. Correction: these are concrete anchors, not for drywall. My concern is that someone might use them in drywall instead of screwing directly into a stud, which would be unfortunate to say the least when the screen hits the floor.)
Not what pictured here or Peerless' PDF!! Specs wrong too! By A1ZCSSCAGBCD49 on 2007-11-29
I'm downrating this product BEFORE I actually use it to hopefully catch your attention BEFORE you buy it! I read a bunch of reviews here, mostly favorable. One noted the itme pictured here on Amazon is different then what came. TRUE. It is also DIFFERENT than the item in the PDF from the Peerless site!! Seems there are 3 LCS-KLA'a but nobody (Peerless) has bothered to revision them ie. -1 -2 -3 etc. What I thought was the one in the PDF was the correct one, WRONG. The one pictured on the Peerless site IS the correct one. So it has a flat/squareish TV side plate with eight ROUND screw holes (not tear shaped) and it does NOT roll +/- 5 degrees. If you've ever hung a TV before tear shaped screw holes let you hang the TV on the already wall mounted arm EASILY! The 5 degree roll lets you correct a less than perfect install. I'm am currently waiting for a call back from a Peerless tech. I showed the CSR the bad PDF.
Not weight rated correctly By A3E62DWYYTD2QS on 2007-06-19
Unfortunately this wall mount is not weight rated correctly.
It was recommended for my TV, which weighs 22.5 pounds, clearly within the 25lb limit.
However the joints are strained and the set sags out of level depending on how the arm is extended. I probably should of returned it, but after going to the trouble of mounting it to my wall, I'd rather not start over with another. After reading the good reviews, my guess is this mount works well with sets under 20lbs. If yours is heavier, I'd look elsewhere.
Great price and product. Wish it had the ability to rotate the display. By A34WRF3C70VMLL on 2007-09-27
First, let me start by saying that this item is not the one you see pictured above. The arm has two parts, one upper and one lower, not the upper, middle, and lower that you see above. Actually, I think the product that I received is nicer looking than the picture above. The product works great and is very solid. I'm not sure what others were talking about with the screws. I used a #3 phillips head on my drill and they went into the wall no problem after pre-drilling the holes. If you use the right head they will not strip.
This is my first VESA mount and I learned a valuable lesson. I think that all VESA mounts should have the feature that allows the display to be rotated. The reason I say this in not just because my display is capable of displaying at 90 degrees. I am saying it because even though I leveled the arm very carefully if you are off by just a millimeter that millimeter will translate out to about a half-inch of tilt when you extend the monitor completely away from the wall. When I first extended it out I thought I had made a mistake but when I rechecked at the wall the arm was level. I was able to fix the issue by extending it from the left instead of the right but I cannot extend it all the way out without noticing the tilt. The ability to rotate would eliminate this issue. One way you could probably avoid this is to attach your monitor to the arm, extend it all the way out and then have someone level and mark it at the wall while you hold it in place. That way you would be leveling it at the fully extended position instead of simply at the wall.
Here is a tip for attaching your monitor to the arm. Unbolt the front portion of the arm from the back portion. Attach it to your monitor while it is safely laying on a towel on your desk. Reattach the two portions of the arm. This is much easier than trying to mount the monitor to the arm while it is attached to the wall and is able to be done with one person because you just have one bolt to attach.
- Out of level
     By AJ2D4JWKNK48D on 2007-02-28
Very strong and the price was great but....
I am a professional builder and the mount is out of level. I mounted it twice using a 4 foot level and the monitor was out of level both times. I recommend attaching the monitor to the mount, have someone hold the entire setup against the wall and level it. Then mark the location of the two screw holes.
- Great price
     By A3IW9YBW0LK56N on 2006-07-11
I looked forever for a good low priced LCD arm. I needed one that swiveled all directions as I was mounting our new 17" AOC LCD TV at an odd angle, I couldnt find a better price than this anywhere!
The arm is solidly built and comes with all the hardware you will need to mount it.
Only 2 minor gripes. One the metal on this thing is coated somewhat cheaply, anywhere the arm touched the wall left long grey streaks before I got it solidly mounted. And two, the wall anchors that came packaged with it were far too small for the screws provided, I drilled a small hole into the wall got the anchors securely fasted and then tried to use the screws provided only to have the screws twist the anchor through the wall. I ended up find a stud and mounting it there and tossing the anchors but not after having to patch and paint a few holes in my wall.
For the money you cant beat this arm.
- Tricky mounting, works great eventually
     By A2C3SFNGIJFQZW on 2008-07-06
As others have mentioned, the mount works fine when installed.
Mounting it straight and level can be tricky. Some tips:
* Use one of the allen wrenches to remove the bolt in the middle of the articulating arm and separate the two arm parts. Attach the wall plate to the wall, and the vesa plate to the monitor. Then simply attach the two arm sections together.
* The monitor plate's pitch can be adjusted, that is it can be tilted back and forth. The manual doesn't mention it, however. Remove the two plastic covers and use the bigger allen wrench to loosen the bolt. Adjust pitch angle and tighten.
* Right - left adjustment is the trickiest. Do line up the holes before drilling them. Once mounted, if the monitor is not level, try loosening the wall mounting screws a bit, nudging the wall plate in the right direction and then tightening the screws.
- Works well
     By A246BU2DG7JC8I on 2007-01-02
You know, this thing works very well... but I still dont understand the price on these things! This is just metal and some screws.... sure seems like this and others should be $19.99 or less. When the mount costs you around 25% of the TV you are mounting... something is wrong...
Asside from my issues with the pricing, the product is really sturdy and works well.
- PERFECT for the $$
     By A2TY5379TDAU61 on 2006-11-02
This is the most affordable and flexible mounting I found online - I highly recommend it.
However, I would strongly caution people to take it easy on the screws - they strip easily. I just mounted it last night but couldn't put the tv on it because the vertical swivel was too loose - I tried to tighten but it stripped - now I've got to remove the stripped screw and put in another, and then tighten the swivel and remount the tv. Once thats complete I think it'll be perfect!
- great price, just what I needed
     By A12XGSM5P5L4IW on 2007-01-18
I bought this for my new 20" flat panel and it is perfect. I am one of those people who is appalled by the price of these things in the store. This was a great find and at a reasonable price. Very easy installation for the average "do-it-yourselfer". I also recieved it very fast. The only thing that I did'nt like were the 2-1/2" heavy duty zinc wood screws that came with it; and having done plenty of home improvements over the years I have this thing about zinc screws which unfortunately come with any product like this you buy. The problem is that by the time you've screwed that 2-1/2" screw in the wall you will have probably stripped the screw head out. I would advise using a ratchet with a screw head attachment. (Don't use an electric screwdriver) I prefer to use drywall screws instead which are very tough and wont strip under the same amount of torque.
- Sturdy construction, easy instruction!
     By A2M4QE9MMYM6R3 on 2007-10-18
This is a very solid and adjustable mount. I needed to find a way to mount my 22 inch LCD monitor above my work area and I wanted a mount that could extend and retract as well as swivel and tilt. The price was great, shipping was fast and installation took me about 30 minutes from the time I unpacked the mount until I was sitting and using the computer. When you move, swivel or tilt the monitor, it stays right where you want it to with no creep or moving. Comes with all mounting hardware and looks good even though you hardly ever see it! I could not be happier!
- Excellent Product
     By A2UQAE6SRS5BW0 on 2007-01-22
I purchased this product for a 20" LCD TV. The location and use required the TV to be able to be turned left, right as well as up and down depending on viewer position. This wall mount works perfectly for my application. It is very well built and when "collapsed" is only ~2" deep. The included mounting hardware was sufficient and held the assembly very well.
- Great product at a VERY good price!
     By AC39YGEZVNCAH on 2007-03-13
I purchased this from Amazon for $46.99 and it included free shipping. I installed it tonight at it was complete as described and included all mounting hardware. Quality product. I recently saw the same Peerless model number at Fry's for almost $90. Great value, highly recommend.
- Perfect Wall Mount for my Sharp Aquos 15" LCD TV
     By AGBISRX2MDKEP on 2006-12-27
Very well built & designed wall mount bracket!
It took me about 20 minutes from marking the screw holes to turning on the TV to mount this bracket. It is very sturdy - and supports my 15" Sharp Aquos LCD TV with ease. This TV is in a corner of my kitchen, and there was only one stud close enough to mount the bracket which would allow viewing from most of the kitchen. The length and design of the arm was extremely helpful in that I could swing the arm either right or left to best position it into the corner. The screws supplied for mounting to the TV were the perfect length (my TV came with a handle and the screws for that would be too long). The only tools I needed were a Philips head screwdriver and my drill. Excellent product!
- Very Satisfied
     By A3GO0TGP9IO9NM on 2007-03-18
This product definitely lived up to my expectations in terms of quality for the price. It's a good looking product with the brushed aluminum type finish, and the pivot points are nice and tight. I have to agree with the other positive reviews. After reading all the installation comments, I went ahead and pre-drilled into the wall stud then installed it using the wood screws and a screw tip on my variable speed drill. I drilled into scrap wood first in order to find the best size hole for the screws. (Nothing worse than stripping a screw head halfway in!) All in all a great purchase!
- Terrible
     By A3SASRWKR6H1MJ on 2007-05-12
This wall mount is awful. It is not well built, thus it sags and is near impossible to get your TV to be level. My TV is currently level, but only because I jammed a piece of cardboard into the articulating piece. I would not recommend this wall mount
- Wall Mount
     By A2WBXP1Z3JY5TG on 2007-05-14
This is the second one of these that we buy. The only downfall is that the monitor cannot be adjusted up or down post mounting (better measure correctly before drilling), and if after mounting the monitor is tilted (right of left), you need to re-drill (once again, take your time before drilling). Other than that, the mount is awesome. It is very strong and holds the monitor without a problem. We love the convenience of pushing the monitor to the wall when not in use and opening desk workspace. It is also nice looking if for some reason someone happens to see it behind the monitor. Would I buy the same one if I had the choice? Yes I would - as a matter of fact, I did.
- Great Wall Mount - Easy Installation
     By A1PM7AUJRPUVUK on 2007-06-28
Very solid - well designed. It installed in minutes and was easy to attach to my 20" LCD/DVD TV.
- Great mount, get your own screws...
     By A32LULBIX7AZK on 2007-08-07
This mount is nice. It's sturdy and not too stiff. No monitor sag on my 19 inch computer monitor. It was easy to attach to the wall... but attaching the monitor is another story. WARNING Do not use the provided screws to attach the monitor to the mount. For one they are two long, while tightening one down it was still 1/8 of an inch from being tight and just by hand tightening the screw it sheered in half. I could not get the other half out of the back of my monitor. Stupid me i thought that it was just that one screw and the monitor would be ok with only 3. While i tightened the next one... the same thing happened. I didn't apply much pressure at all. I had two screws filling the holes on the back of my monitor. I had to run to home depot, get a 5-64ths drill bit and a reverse threaded bit. Drill i hole into the back of the tiny screw, worrying about pushing to hard(you need a lot of force to drill threw the screws) and ruining my screen. Then once i had the hole use the bit to remove the screw. I got both out and used the screws that were holding the origional base to my monitor, those worked perfectly. It took about an hour an a half to get the screws out and then mounted. Overall i would recomend this mount but GET BETTER SCREWS!
- No problems, just what we needed...
     By A3SHA4Y9DHEK39 on 2007-08-18
I bought this wall mount after reading many positive reviews, as we were installing a 20" LCD TV on the wall in one of the rooms of our church. Because I don't have a handy bone in my body, I asked several guys who like working on these types of projects if they could help.
I left them alone in the room for about fifteen minutes, and by the time I returned, the TV was attached to the wall mount, which was securely mounted on the downstairs cinder block wall. It's been up for several months, and we've had no problems whatsoever.
The TV is still securely mounted. This particular mount gives us great flexibility as we move the TV to face different parts of the room. It was easy to install and has worked perfectly. I highly recommend this wall mount.
- Works like it says.
     By A3N176NMT960UW on 2007-09-07
No problems with installing. Very nice workmanship. Heavy duty. Only suggestions I have would be something to make it easier to swivel up and down. The way it's designed requires an Allen wrench (which they even included). Would be better for a hand release so that it can be changed more easily. I have this mounted in my motorhome so another thing that would be nice is a lockdown so it can't swing. I just put a pad in front of the TV and use a strap to fasten it down while on the road now though.
- Great
     By A1U5WGVBP2CZ9S on 2007-10-12
Works great, easily mounted my 23" LCD TV. I used my own anchors though.
- Does the job
     By AA1XW6M0UQZ0H on 2008-02-01
This swiveling arm works great once installed properly. Drilling the holes to achieve a true vertical alignment is tricky; measure thrice, drill once.
- Excellant shipping time and a great value for this product!
     By A3DQDDNSIGWZGH on 2006-08-22
Price was awesome and shipping was FREE! I could have spent a $100.00 or more for this same item and I was able to purchase it for $40.00! The movement and durability of this item is everything I expected and more.
- Quality at a good price
     By A1WODMBRLIDYF7 on 2006-08-25
This was one of the cheapest tv mounts and it had all the options the expensive ones had it will pull away from the wall as well as allow the screen to pivot up and down.It also compacts up close to the wall.
I dont know what other features someone would want in a mount.
It is also very smooth when it moves and there is not any deflection or sloppiness in the construction, altough I only put a 14" lcd on it.
- Great mount, easy to install.
     By AWPXH8SXV27FX on 2006-12-09
This this is slicker than ... well, you know what. Drill 2 holes into a stud, and screw the bracket to the back of the tv, and you're done. The holes aligned perfectly with a little 17" lcd we got from Tigerdirect (for just over $200, I had a very nice bedroom setup).
- VERY STURDY-NICELY DETAILED-AFFORDABLE
     By A3J3K0NSJBOIA9 on 2006-12-30
Bought this to hold my Polaroid 15" flat screen TV-Absolutely great! It's beefy and easy to install. Very nicely finished. Holds TV firmly in position. Installed in less than an hour. Well worth the $41.18+ shipping price at Ant-On-Line. A terrific value. Highly recommend.
CONS: Would have prefered it in a black finish-Minor.
- Works Great Plus Great Value
     By A3P77Y8RIW6OZW on 2007-03-08
Paid about $37 less than another brand at K-mart. Mounted a 15" Sylvania LCD TV in my kitchen. Swivels effortlessly to view from kitchen or dining room. I was glad that I replaced the included 2-1/2" zinc screws with stainless steel. They saved the heads of the screws from stripping out. Will buy another one.
- Good quality for a good price.
     By AE0OVRH9IHWMQ on 2007-04-11
This is another item that costs an arm and a leg retail. This was a great price on Amazon for a high quality product. I am only using it to support a little 15" LCD, but I would trust it to hold the maximum size (22") television. It is sturdily made, easy to install, and the double link arm allows quite a range of viewing adjustments. Overall, this is a great value which I highly recommend.
