Correction! 18 Loads, Not 40 Loads! By A2HKM86HB9P18G on 2006-01-01
A good product, to be sure...I've used Seventh Generation's other laundry detergents and have been very pleased. This "review" is however a cautionary: while it states on Amazon that each bottle cleans 40 loads, it is only rated for 18 loads. Just a heads up!
[note: I tried to notify Amazon about this but their system for corrections is inoperable at the moment. Thus, this "review"]
I really like 7th generation products, but... By A292RIQH3B7Q77 on 2006-02-08
I really like seventh generation products, but ordering online for mail/UPS delivery can be a problem. I had a whole shipment that arrived sticky, gooey, awful because some of the items had leaked in transit. Buy these products at your local Whole Foods or similar retail outlet. The price is not much different and they will arrive home in better condition. (Note, Amazon.com did refund all of my money when I complained, although I had to push for the full refund. I was initially offered a 20% refund, which was totally unacceptable.)
Earth-friendly but poor detergent By A2IQIJQCIPUPU4 on 2006-01-26
I cannot address the value of buying products from this manufacturer; that's for you to decide.
However, this product performs noticably worse than its earth-unfriendly alternatives. Clothes come out greyish and stains are not as well removed as with Tide, the other one I use.
But the decision is yours.
Love it. By A2UQXJ6G5ALNSF on 2007-03-01
We only use Seventh Generation laundry products now. It is amazing how much better our clothes feel with these products. The baby detergent gets the babies very dirty clothes very clean in our front loader.
Use regular Seventh Generation detergent - better job for less By AK3I5SH6IY641 on 2006-08-30
Since my twins were born I've used just the same detergent for us and for the babies - works fine!!!
- Sometimes a little extra effort is worth it...
     By A37URFPFXI7ZDG on 2007-11-30
I found the Seventh Generation products a few months ago at my local grocery store and have been trying out each product individually. This detergent cleans just as well as other overpriced baby detergents and I feel much safer using it on my child as well as the infants I take care of daily. Yes, some of the stains children manage to create are difficult and detergent alone does not work well. I came across this same issue with the other detergent also. I just use a little baby-friendly stain remover as I did before and see the same result. Except now, I have piece of mind that I am not only dressing the little ones in clean clothes but am also helping to ensure they can grow up and learn to wash their own clothes in a healthier environment. (As Seventh Generation's slogan states.)
- Excellent
     By ALB7LVF8D37HY on 2007-10-22
We need a biodegradable detergent because we have a new septic system. I wanted to still keep my baby's clothes soft for his sensitive skin and found this online. It softens and cleans well. I don't have to worry about any harsh chemicals on my little boy.
- Wonderful all around product
     By A15MNSQPRK626W on 2007-12-11
My husband and I began using this for our little son's clothing. To make life easier, we now use it for all of our clothing. It's a great product that does a fantastic job cleaning without irritating our son's sensitive skin. I'd recommend it to anyone.
- Cleans well...but maybe TMI?
     By AVSHT97M6LEQD on 2008-02-29
I haven't used anything but this and Planet in a long time, and what I used previously I don't remember well enough to compare, but...
Using the same amount of this cleans a lot better than Planet. At least for guinea pig urine-soaked towels. It actually uses less bedding for a decent sized cage (minimum for one gpig is 7.5 square feet! and since they're social animals, it's actually cruel to keep one alone! and there are so many dying in animal shelters across the country! and so I adopted a bonded trio...and 3 guinea pigs pee a lot) compared to a smaller one, because the bedding stays cleaner, but still, it seemed wasteful to use disposable bedding. I don't mind paying enough money to keep my furkids healthy, and everything I found was sort of expensive (other than pine and cedar shavings, which were out of the question because they are toxic to gpigs and other animals), so I went with CareFresh. Then I realized towels with fleece are cheaper in the long run and just as healthy and comfortable, if not more.
The problem with fleece is that although it wicks to keep the occupants dry, it can hide the dirtiness of the towels, so sometimes I am lazy and don't wash them often enough. This results in some horrible towels. Although they got clean again in the washing machine using Planet, a lot of stains stayed. I was surprised at the difference this detergent made, getting out most of the stains without any help from other cleaners. I will probably never go back to Planet, at least for my babies' towels.
Another event that impressed me was when my best friend despaired because I borrowed his light grey tshirt and spilled bright red cough syrup on it. After an application of Nature's Miracle and a cold rinse, a lot of the staining was still visible. I rubbed some of this detergent into the stains, let it sit a while, then put it through one cycle. No more stains!
Of course it's very important to me that this detergent is safe to use, especially for delicate skin and respiratory systems. I refuse to buy any detergent tested on animals or made with animal products, and it's great that this detergent is environmentally friendly too, reducing harm to wildlife as well as humans and their captive animals.
- Not Color Fast -- Bleaches color from clothing
     By A2E3AHISSEVUWP on 2008-06-14
I have tried both the powder and liquid Seventh Generation Laundry detergents. Both have bleached color out of clothing items. The first time the company reimbursed me for the cost of the clothes, and told me they were removing the words "color fast" from the product labels (they did). Now that it has happened again I will not be using this product in the future.
- Great gentle detergent
     By A1VJXEPZHN1JC1 on 2008-01-01
We use this detergent for all of our clothing, not just our baby's stuff and I really appreciate just how much of a difference it has made in terms of the feeling and smell of the clothing. Definitely a worthwhile purchase.
- damaged in shipping
     By A11H302AI73L3G on 2008-02-03
So far the product works great, however when we received the box 3 out of the six containers were cracked open on bottom and leaking throughout the box.
- Not suggested!
     By A323CV7QOCV7GB on 2008-04-18
This is a great product with awful packaging. I ordered the six pack twice and twice it arrived with broken plastic bottles and detergent all over the place. I went to the Seventh Generation website and left feedback with no response. So, get this product because it is great, but buy it in the store.
- Baby soft
     By A34O2NU1MJMLKG on 2008-04-21
I bought this for my baby, but we have ended up using it ourselves. GREAT stuff! Clothes end up clean and soft!
- Three bottles damaged out of six
     By AW67883GPC9G3 on 2008-10-18
I have used about half of a bottle since I've received the detergent and it seems fine. I don't have any complaints, so far, on the quality of the product but the shipping leaves something to be desired. I discovered today that three of the bottles out of the six were damaged and leaking detergent all over the closet. I wouldn't recommend buying these online and having them shipped.
- Support a Great Company
     By A2TGX1WTZEFTCX on 2008-03-12
There are lots of options for mild detergents safe for baby clothes nowadays. But Seventh Generation is a great company that only uses all natural ingredients. I buy this detergent to support them and it really works great.
- Tender skin
     By AHIQQ5JAAD2UK on 2008-05-02
My daughter has very tender skin so this detergent is perfect. I have been using Dreft for her but her skin was still breaking out with Exzema so whe I saw this I have used it and her skin is so much better.
- convenient, cleans well
     By A1T3CA00ZJW81L on 2008-05-29
we order these along with flossers, wipes, deodorent, hand soap and diapers all in bulk through Amazon - it costs less than the local grocery store and it all comes with super saver shipping - this soap works well and doesn't have any scent
- 7th Generation Liquid Laundery Detergent
     By AYRSF4JQF1W9I on 2008-06-09
I appreciate all the comments regarding the shipping. I have used this laundry detergent for about two years. Now I cannot not find it at my local grocery stores, although they are still carrying the dish liquid detergent and the automatic dish detergent. 7th Generation had a really good website, but not I cannot get it to come up. Has anyone else tried this?
- Excellent Detergent!
     By A2UKXEPVNVVPR2 on 2008-07-04
We love the detergent. It is everything we were hoping for and are glad to have purchased it!
- Good stuff
     By A1X1556BV3MB40 on 2008-07-30
I think this works just fine for my babies wash, and I feel much better about using this product than other "conventional" detergents. I use a few of the 7th Gen products and love them all.
- Love This Product
     By A1GVFJL9WTP813 on 2008-08-23
I love this detergent. My kid's clothes come out smelling clean and fresh. These were packaged well for shipping. Each bottle was taped and they were double boxed to prevent leakage.
- Shipment was fine, cost to ship was high
     By AY0Z21CJYRG58 on 2008-09-05
I ordered this product despite the reviews that said the shipment arrived leaky and sticky. My shipment was fine. Each of the bottles had been taped around the top to prevent leaking during shipment. But I probably will be buying it locally from now on, since it cost about $20 to ship.
- Great Stuff
     By A2ZRLZ16S74656 on 2008-09-07
Scent is light to non-existent, it's very gentle on clothes -- no fading on anything so far and it's CLEAN!
- not so concentrated
     By ALSATW8DEK5NN on 2008-09-07
pretty good but not quite as concentrated as indicated. somewhere inbetween regolar and concentrated detergent. light fragrance
