Great Performer By AHU88DJO03XZ7 on 2007-06-04
Having tossed out my stock Dell keyboard for a cheapy I bought at a discount store i was soon frustrated by the lack of features and function and smaller then conventional typing area that one offered (with a frustratingly small backspace key). So I ordered one of these and its gotta be the best $20 keyboard anywhere.
The keys are well placed and clearly marked, typing on it feels intuitive, and it is fairly quiet. It has little rubber pads on the bottom that make it STICK to your desk as well as two little "feet" in front that pop up if you want to tilt the board toward you. And the bottom edge, although not a hand rest, is well shaped and provides enough space to rest your hands nonetheless. The keyboard is very comfortable to use and streamlined for form and function, unlike some other keyboards who's controls and buttons resemble a busy dashboard of an automobile.
I have used a plain vanilla keyboard for so long this one is a real joy. It opens my homepage, email client (it supports several clients, one being Hotmail), has master volume controls, mute, media controls for audio/video applications, a power off button, opens the calculator, etc....and best of all the software provided to allow you to program hot keys is top notch. You have the twelve F keys to program however you like to open whatever application, file, folder, webpage, etc you care to open. And a nifty one touch "close" button as well as a "go back" button at the left edge of the board. Everything is literally at your fingertips, and whatever program or file you open or function you are using is attractively displayed in big green text at the bottom of your monitor screen (this feature can be disabled). Also, if you need to use standard F keys it has a key to toggle back and forth between "standard" and "enhanced" keys. Which is handy if you play games, for obvious reasons.
The only cons with this keyboard are the keys are a bit small (just a tad, you'll quickly acclimate) and if you are a memory / system resources obsessed type the software to make it all happen takes 14 megabytes of RAM to run. Which is really very little by todays standards.
Not the most spectacular or most expensive keyboard, just one that does EVERYTHING right, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and function of this item for $20. Sure there are other choices that do the same and more. But if you are looking for an easy to use, streamlined, uncluttered, fully functional, and INEXPENSIVE keyboard solution to handle the basics and a fair bit beyond, this $20 Logitech should go top of your list.
Best price/quality for a keyboard w/music control buttons By A2BFREEHA8BMSK on 2007-02-27
I only wanted a simple keyboard with buttons for controlling my mp3 player. I previously owned the same logitech keyboard, one step up from this one and while it is great keyboard it has a little too many extra buttons that often got in the way.
For my money simplistic elegance and minimalism is the way to go and this keyboard fits that bill perfectly.
stuttering key issue By A6UCDQA212HZQ on 2007-12-19
I purchased this keyboard recently through Amazon and I like the keyboard but I found that I had a stutttttttering key issue. Every so often I would get a keypress that went ccccccrazy. I found it happened both on my Vista and XP partitions. I have the most recent version of setpoint also. Logitech support had no advice and I did notice some others with the same issue on their support message board. The only solution I found was plugging it in with the adapter to my PS2 port. So it's only the USB that's acting weird. I don't mind using PS2 port but there are a few functions that you can only use on USB.
Great Product By AIMVBRRU24DZR on 2007-09-04
This is a nice keyboard. Lots of functions and has a classic sleek look. The only reason i give this 4 stars is because when i opened the box, the tabs that hold the keyboard up in the back were broke off. I really didn't want to go through the hassle of returning the product for replacement. Damage could have happened during shipment. Keyboard manufacturures should include a couple extra tabs.
Not quite what I expected By A2S2B44CQTFFI9 on 2007-09-24
It is a good basic keyboard and performs well with nice features, and versatility for accessing and surfing the internet.
I am also a gamer and this keyboard has problems with assigning keys with certain games. I have never had problems like this with any other board I have owned - from the cheapest wired keyboard to modestly priced wireless of a different brand. Maybe this is unique to my board, but it does present a problem with the way I want to use it.
- Soft and nice
     By A16RVECSRZYUDP on 2007-11-01
Excellent design, very soft keys, nice style but hasn't "scroll lock" key, very bad if you need to use a KVM, think about if yours doesn't have any button to switch bethen the ports.
- Logiterch Keyboard and SETPOINT
     By A12MSXZ7CDOP65 on 2008-08-02
I've owned this keyboard for about 3 years now and enjoyed using it, when the Setpoint program worked. Upon system reboot, there is always about a 50% chance that the portion of Setpoint that applied to the ketboard would not load properly. I tried everything to correct this deficiency, but to no avail. It is very quirky and since it is a corded keyboard, Logitech offers no means to correct it once it loaded wrong, other then to reboot again and hope it loads correctly. I'm in the process of replacing it with a highly reviewed Microsoft corded keyboard and cordless mouse. I might add that once I got my new VISTA equipped computer, Setpoint went from bad to worse.
- Noisy....
     By A1BJJA4V23ZOL1 on 2008-09-05
These keyboards are just too noisy for me to think! I like keys with softer, springier strokes. The Logitech is just to clunky. I had replaced the original keyboard that came with my HP computer for this one just because I thought--just by looking at the hp--that the Logitech is more sturdy and comfortable, but now I'm back to the HP. Much better. Plus, Logitech's setpoint software gets worse with every update. The last 4.60 didn't work at all!
- JUNK!
     By AUCMV8B0QDTOI on 2008-11-09
My cordless Logitech board went kaput after 4 years and I picked one of these up while waiting for my new more expensive board to arrive from Amazon. Soft, squishy keys that felt like they might fall apart under my fingers and the board was actually WARPED. Get back on track, Logitech.
- This is not the Logitech Elite keyboard
     By A1CA43D14PJQXC on 2007-08-02
This is just another media keyboard with functions the majority will never use. Logitech makes great products, I'm sure, but this one is not as a great a deal as it seems. Though it says it's the "Elite" media keyboard, it's not. Very misleading. You will get what you paid for. It's nothing fancy, really. It's not even ergonomic.
