Gravity Boots For EZ Up Inversion Rack

Teeter Hang Ups Gravity Boots provide an ankle-conforming fit through two "fine-tuning" buckles with micro-adjusting ratchets which fit the exact size and taper of your ankle. You can custom fit each inversion boot quickly; a custom fit typically takes less than 20 seconds per boot. The flexible shell is made of a tough yet pliable blend of DuPont Hytrel, which helps to minimize pressure points. A special blend of 5/8-inch foam is designed to give maximum comfort with minimum compression. Other features include:
  • Removable calf loops add comfort by placing a two-degree bend in the knees to help reduce the load on knee joints
  • Boot straps adjust to ankles varying several inches in diameter
  • Ratcheting, double-lock system ensures safety and security
  • Each boot weighs only 2.5 pounds
  • One size fits most

They can be used with the following Teeter Hang Ups products: the EZ-Up Inversion Rack, Inversion Bar and F5000 or F7000 Inversion Table.

  • Hang Me UP

    By A3S86BNQVNGRB6 on 2007-01-18
Being a bodybuilder, I hoist heavy weights all the time; a major stress especially when it comes to squats. I ordered the boots when I realized I had shrunk to 5'10.5" from being 6'0.5". I was thusly very happy when after approximately 5 weeks of hanging (5 times a week, 10-15 min intervals) that I am nearly back to my original height (6' 0.25"). I highly suggest this product as a supplement to good [emphasis on good] chiropractic care.
To those who have/will order this product, don't be discouraged if it seems to hurt your back at first; that's totally normal because your back is trying to readjust while the discs [which cushion the vertebrate] start rehydrating. Also, it will take some time to find the strap tightness that's right for your legs. Generally, tighter on the top strap and looser on the bottom is a good combination.
p.s. Hang from a real pull-up bar and make sure you have someone to spot you if you are not strong enough to pull yourself back up the bar to unlatch yourself.

  • Very Valuable tool for Back pain (read method below.)

    By AAPSEWH0W87MY on 2007-12-26
I tried a couple of inversion tables but found that they weren't very comfortable on my ankles. Note: It is important to only buckle these gravity boots as loosely as you can without slipping out of them for maximum comfort (transfers pressure off achiles tendon and onto heal bone.) You can use these gravity boots with some inversion tables, but If you have the strength/coordination you may find that hanging from a bar (teeters brand) allows for more options (more hip/body movement.) Scientific studies have shown that traction is of questionable benefit, so I never bothered to persue inversion as the mechanism at play is obviously traction. However, recently, after many many years of back pain, I've started a program of inversion. I find that out of all the things I have tried (of which there are a great many), the inversion is probably the most beneficial. It hasn't cured me by any means, but it has provided some improvement. I think one thing to stress is that it is not sufficient to simply invert and lay still. Rather, it is probably much more beneficial to alternately contract the abdominals in a way that shortens your spinal length by aprox an inch or two. As if you are trying to pull your belly button up into your pelvis. or pelvic bone down into your belly button, perhaps? Do this every five or ten seconds. Not only will this strengthen your abs, but it will also fatiuge your stabalizing muscels so as to more fully stretch the spine (the abs, if not fatiuged, probably limit the stretch, as they are trying to protect the spine and hold it in place.) Also, by contracting and relexing the abs, you are likely expanding and contracting the disc space, moving fluid around the connective tissue (which has no real blood vessels of thier own.) Lastly, by doing these contractions, you may in effect be loading and unloading the spinal ligaments, which might strengthen them the way a bicep is strengthened by contracting and relaxing through bicep curls. There are many people, myself included, who believe that weak ligaments are the primary culprit in many lower back problems (even if bad discs are present....ie, many people have bad discs without problems, as shown by MRI studies.) In my case I believe it is my Sacroiliac joint ligament (si joint dysfunction.) I'm quite convinced that my improvments are not placebo in origin, as I was quite pessimistic about trying this (due to studies on traction that had me convinced this was fairly futile.) In addition to the abdominal contractions, I'd also reccomend do full inverted situps, hula type hip rotations while inverted, try to stretch the front of your hips (flexors) while inverted, and also twisting and side bending motion. It is probable that all this motion and stretching while inverted ads flexibility and elasticity to the connective tissue as well as moves fluid around. I invert twice a day for ten minutes each time.

  • A must for every home

I wanted one of these for a long time. I just didn't know it. I always loved the Hangup Boots, but never bought them because I didn't want the big inversion table. Then I woke up one morning with a drive to get the boots and just find something (a jungle gym perhaps) to hang from. And then I saw this rack that hangs in your door. It was perfect! It installed easily in my studio doorway. It can be used for pullups or just something to stretch out with everytime I walk in and out of the room. Our daughter is constantly climbing on it and inadvertantly getting great exersise. I did get the inversion boots as well and try to find ten minutes a day to hang upside down. It gets blood to the brain and takes pressure off the spine. You can get a totally different work out being inverted. I highly recommend this to everyone, but especially fellow yogis. Yoga is great for working out back problems and this rack (paired with the Hangup boots) really helps with strengthening and lengthening the back. Cobra pose without a floor!
I am glad I didn't hessitate in getting this. I use it everyday.

  • Invert Comfortably

    By A1PD6NNCLVBOHD on 2008-07-24
I got these along with the conversion bar for use with my teeter inversion table. I am getting over a broken foot so the stock method that the teeter inversion tables use just hurt my foot too much to use so I figured the boots were the way to go and so far I'm not disappointed.

First off these things are very comfortable. Ive used a body-solid brand of boots and these are far more cushioned and comfortable than they were. The key is to get them adjusted right when you use them. They don't need to be tight at all, just snug and they are great. So for comfort they get an A+.

Ive seen reviews that say these boots don't fit larger than average lower legs. I really don't get this, I have decent sized calves and they fit easily. I cant imagine how big your lower legs would have to be to make these too small but I will just point out that there's a weight limit on these and if they are too small you might want to check out the scale and make sure you can use these safely at your weight.

A few negatives. First off the things sort of feel cheap. They are just plastic and I guess to hang upside down Id of felt a little better to see some metal parts on there. The body-solid boots seem a lot more durable in that regard, the hooks and the fasteners are both metal and it gives more confidence in the durability. On these the hooks are plastic, the body is plastic, the fasteners, they just don't inspire a lot of confidence. I'm sure they will hold up because they aren't going to sell something that wouldn't but Id just say there's more durable options out there.

Overall I'm happy with them, they are comfortable enough to feel no discomfort while inverting and that's the idea. I use them with an inversion table with the conversion bar but I'm sure they are just as good with any of the bars they sell to hang on.

  • Great Product

I do upside down situps with a 50 pound vest on and a 25 pound dumbell in each hand. I weigh 185 pounds. No creaks bends or falls, great product

  • Great if you want to go blind
    By A3HY1SU2CJ9KU2 on 2008-08-23
The easiest way to cause retina damage. Seriously! My eye doctor and I were discussing workout stratgies and he said "Never do an inverted sit up where you're totally upside down unless you want to seriously damage yourself."

  • These boots are made for hangin'
    By ADM52YHZ756MH on 2007-02-11
I got these along with the Teeter Hang Ups door rack. The boots are sturdy and comfortable. Feel confident in getting them. They work.

  • Great comfortable and fun
    By A2GNWMAWTO7MX6 on 2008-05-21
I bought these boots with the Teeter inversion rack and they are both great. The boots are comfortable (keep your toes poiting towards the ceiling for more comfort).I've only had them 1 1/2 weeks so far but it makes my back feel so much better after inversion and inverted stretching and exercise. Also, having the bar fitted constantly encourages me to do pull-ups and other excercises spontaneously, without the hastle of going to the gym.

  • These things work!
    By A3BNE8UZ0ZXMP1 on 2008-09-02
I bought these about a year ago when I threw my back and was in bed for almost a week.

I found information about Vax-D Therapy where they put you on a modern day rack system to stretch your back. I was getting ready to schedule an appointment when I found other people saying to save your money and buy an inversion table.

The Vax-D was prohibitively expensive so I started looking into Inversion Tables. I was trying to figure out where to put an inversion table when I remembered the old "Gravity Boots" from the 1980's.

Space was an issue so I decided to try these boots instead of the table.

I ordered them shipped Next-Day because I was desperate.

I used them 3 times a day and the next day I already felt better. I felt so much better that I thought the boss would think that I made up the bad back story to miss some days at work.

In about 3 days I was almost back to normal.

Working a desk job, I really should use them every day and I only remember to use them when my back starts hurting again.

I don't use the "Removable calf loops" anymore, but they were great when my back was out, since I actually held on to them to pull myself back up.

This is not for the Faint-Hearted so people who whine about them not being safe should just buy an inversion bed. This would be much gentler for them and much easier to use too.

Don't let the plastic construction fool you. These things are very sturdy, very comfortable and very safe. -- I've never felt that they would give out, break or come loose on me.

I highly recommend buying the Inversion Rack -> Teeter Hang Ups EZ Up Inversion Rack

I kicked myself for getting it -- You don't want to go through the trouble of finding an alternative way to hang from when this you could've bought that rack in the first place.

I took the time to write this review because I'd like other back pain sufferers to know about this option that they can do at home at their own time.

Again, if you're not scared and you still have the stamina to pull yourself back up when you're done, these are Highly Recommended.

If you're scared, get an inversion table and save yourself the doctor or chiropractor bills.

Great product, I do upside situps with a 50 pound vest on and a 25 pound dumbell in each hand, no problem. I weigh 185 pounds.

  • good quality boots
    By A3REVPJJYPZL1D on 2007-03-01
they not the easiest boots to put on, but once they on, they are secure and comfortable to wear.

  • works for me!
    By AMBADICY015A on 2007-04-05
I'm fit and athletic and I don't mind a little blood rush to the head...if you are too than you'll like these boots. It takes about one minute of hanging to get comfortable on the ankles - then after that it's almost like meditation.
I hang about every other day for 10-20 minutes at a time. I usually do it with only socks on for a bit of extra cushion. Feels great, good stretch, very relaxing. And if your strong enough, just hang from a pull-up bar as they are cheaper than 'special' bars and just as strong.
And it's fun to get the ladies into the boots!!;)

  • Hurt my back from this
    By A2LYPXK47GTLSB on 2007-10-15
To be honest I did like the product. It felt good to hang and do some ab workouts upside down. On the contrary, I hurt my back from hanging to long. The pain was really bad and I was unable to do any exercise for 2 weeks. Don't get this unless you get the inversion table first. It can be really hard on your back if you are not used to it.

  • No complaints, seem solid, haven't used much yet
    By AFOFF7SB8SSMN on 2007-01-16
Seem to the best value on the market. I didn't research too much, but found them to be the apparent best value.

  • Excellent product. Teeter delivered exactly what they promised.
    By AEBPQJI1DVE1 on 2007-03-12
I have been very happy with the hang-ups and have used them for the last month. I have not had any issues and they look to be built very well.

  • solid, comfortable, fun
    By AAZ211WXORHP2 on 2007-07-11
If you're looking for something different to do with your workout, and you have a strong chin-up station, try these boots. They're an investment at close to $100, but they are comfortable and sturdy, and they do seem to help nagging pains that might have been caused by spinal compression.

  • Great product.
    By A31Y3WTAY40V7T on 2008-05-25
I use it to hang myself upside down to relieve back pain. It is really well built. Strong straps, paddings are thick and comfortable.

  • had it for 6 years
    By A1NRISYH5OLJ34 on 2008-06-22
Bought this at an exercise store when we moved into our new house. I use it 3 times a week for pullups and it is perfect and solid. The additional height on the top bar makes it easy to do pullups without having to worry about touching the ground (at least for me since I am not very tall.) The bar seems strong and I can't see ever needing to replace it. I am just now getting the inversion boots to do inverted abs and lower back exercises, that should be cool.

  • safe & reliable
    By AWX31476W18WN on 2008-08-10
I give it a 5 because it is easy install on your ankles. very secure when snapped. I have tried the single clamp style made from metal & they are loose & uncomfertable. I recommend this product to all. the plastic used in these boots is a very high grade & the snaps also. Thank you. Jack

  • These are great!
    By A95IJGHNXMBO3 on 2008-08-12
I got this brand because they sounded like they were the most comfortable, and they did not disappoint me. I am over 6'2 and 215 lbs and I was comfortable. (There is a listed max weight limit of 250lbs.)
It was a little freaky at first, but then enjoyable. I felt a great stretch in my hips and my spine really stretched out. Then I tried some exercise. I consider myself to have strong abs and I was only able to do 3 sets of five. I also threw in what they called reverse squats - oh my dog! I am going to have fun getting stronger with these.
I use them with my squat rack, though I the manufacturer says to only use with there products.

  • Used these for close to 15 years
    By A32C0P0Z6XKTGA on 2008-10-07
I have used the spyder inversion boots for about 15 years, on and off. As I am not exactly a feather-weight (weight fluctuates between 210-240) this is a pretty good test. I am buying another pair as the strap on one broke (not in use - I suspect my son was messing with it) I even tried hanging with one broken strap (Do Not Try This At Home!) and they held up fine, but it made me a little nervous and my wife said it was OK to replace them. I don't do a lot of inverted sit-ups but just hanging or traction and hanging/twisting feels great on my back. As far as retinal damage - hasn't happened to me yet. If you have blood pressure issues - definitely talk to your doctor and therapist. Your mileage may vary. Don't hurt yourself and if you do, it's your fault.

  • Great even after years of use.
    By A2XG8UFW8IFTFU on 2008-10-21
I bought a pair of these in 1992 for training purposes. They worked great until last year when one broke. No big deal since they lasted as long as they did under extensive use, ~15 years! I am 6'2" 220lbs. and these babies survived a lot of punishment for a while.

I just recently purchased a new pair because there is nothing like inverted crunches to chisel your abdominals. The other plus is that they really help to decompress my spine after workouts. Great simple tools that last a long time are always good in my book. Enjoy!

  • These boots are great!
    By AFPN3T7337IEI on 2006-12-29
I got a pair of these boots for Christmas and even though I'm not sure what all they can be used for, they are great! The construction is top-notch, they're easy to use, comfortable, etc. I seen cheaper boots on the market, but when I'm buying a product to let me hang upside down a few feet above the concrete/tile floor in my house, I want the best product for the job. ;)

  • They work, but they don't seem safe
    By A2S1WPWZ4DR7XQ on 2007-07-16
The brace is this crappy plastic thing. It seems like it would be really easy for the brace to fail. But they work.

  • Great for your Ankles
    By A1AWK5P4ZU9DXO on 2007-10-23
This is great if you have ankle pain when hanging these are what you need

  • Great
    By A2ZPVFR5A1ESNL on 2008-01-04
I've owned these for about 6 years now and I am totally happy with the money I spent. I use them a couple of times a week and I have to say they have helped me maintain great abs. They are comfortable and most importantly fun, which helps me stay motivated. The only negative I can think of is that they won't fit people with huge calves... not my problem, but some of my friends had trouble getting them on.

  • It worth any cent ! ;-)
    By A3JPD4O7JFYIDG on 2008-01-08
Nothing negative to say about the product! I am using 3 or more times per week. You just need to sure about your Bar fixation to avoid broke your neck in the floor.

Nilton Fernandes - I happy end user.

  • These boots are awesome!!

  • Excellent

I bought this rack with the Teeter gravity boots and they are both great and alot of fun to use. I can see and feel the difference in my back pain as well as arm and stomach definition aleady. Highly recommended.

  • Makes my fat hang the other way!
    By A2TAOPCID5RN8G on 2008-08-17
These boots are great! They appear to be pretty well constructed and I have no concerns about the workmanship. They definitely take some getting used to and I highly recommend wearing thick socks and sneakers when first using them. I am now using them comfortably with just a pair of socks.

It is difficult to describe the effect these have on your back as it is subtle yet incredibly effective. Staying inverted in these for as little as five minutes right before bed is enough to guarantee waking up with no tension in my back.

A worthwhile investment in my opinion!
