Nice keyboard, good mouse... By A2M74TPY2T0YI9 on 2006-03-11
The logitech s530 wireless keyboard for the Mac is very good. The keyboard's feel is much closer to a laptop (a plus for me), except with 'standard' size buttons.
The mouse, of course, being based on the Logitech 600 series is excellent.
An important caveat: the bundled software, as of this post (11 Mar 06) does *not* work with Intel-based Macs. However, all standard buttons (mouse and keyboard) work as intended.
Because of the absence of Intel-based support, the product warrants 4-stars (otherwise it would easily yield a 5).
Great physical design. Poor driver software. By ALBCCGKTUHU1O on 2006-07-17
The keyboard and mouse that came with my iMac G5 are works of art, but they fall below the standard in terms of functionality. I missed having a 3 button mouse, scroll wheel and the "fit to hand" shape of Logitech mouse I had on my old PC. The keyboard never felt right to my fingers. The tactile feedback wasn't good and key presses would often not register.
I've always liked Logitech mice and keyboards and these work great with my iMac G5 running OSX 10.3.9. It's too bad that the same standard of quality and good design doesn't carry over into the software they provide to program the special functions on the keyboard and mouse. I also had software problems initially with another Logitech keyboard that I used on a PC.
If you are the only user of your Mac, you might not care about this problem, but I discovered that when I'm logged in as one user and use "fast switch" to log in as another user without logging out, the programmable buttons seem to have no effect for the 2nd user. When I log out and switch back to the 1st user login, I notice that the buttons have been starting up applications for the 1st user while I was logged in as the 2nd user! The specical function keys stay with the user who first logs in. It's annoying at best and insecure at worst, to have programmable keys affect another user's session.
Downloading the latest version of LCC 2.0 from Logitech's web site didn't help. It will supposedly work with either PowerPC or Intel based Macs, but my system became very unstable when I installed it. It would crash or lock up at certain points and have trouble booting. I've uninstalled the driver completely and those problems went away. I went back to using the old driver but it didn't recognize the keyboard and mouse (for configuration purposes) for all users.
I decided to return this and get a Macally wired keyboard and mouse. They are not quite as nice as these, but they work without problems, cost $60 less, and I won't have to buy batteries for them.
Finally, I'm 100% satisfied with my move to Mac By AL2VDNKKQEJBD on 2007-01-05
I bought my first Mac (an iMac, all very swish), about two weeks ago. I got over most of the initial oddities of the Mac and came to appreciate very much its overall strength and superior quality to any PC I'd ever owned (and I always owned good ones). The only lasting problem I had was the horribly annoying (for PC users) keyboard and mouse (I had the Mac bluetooth/wireless mighty mouse and keyboard . . . high end stuff for Mac). Traditional Mac users who've never used anything else, simply don't understand the ease of use which comes with most higher end PC mouse/keyboard combos. Though I tried very hard, I found the Mac keyboard and especially the mighty mouse to be simply too focussed on form and not enough on function. In particular, for the mouse, the right click function is just not good enough for ex-PC users, it's really not good enough for Mac in general, given the rest of their quality, but many avid Mac people will have difficulty in accepting this. I don't think it's a matter of preference, either, it's really just a matter of ergonomics and basic physics. Enter, then, the Logitech s530, the product that enabled me to finally find happiness and satisfaction with my iMac. Above all, it works really, really well in terms of system function, which is extended with lots of useful features (Mac addicts will say "I don't know why anyone would use these features, why not just learn six thousand different key combinations instead?!" to which I reply: why not use a single button with a nice little icon on it?!), and very very nice in terms of ergonomics. I bought the bluetooth mac mouse/keyboard with my iMac. I shouldn't have wasted the money. I should have bought this product FIRST and just chucked whatever combo came standard. We live and learn, but I hope mine helps yours.
Good for a wireless Mac keyboard By A1TAFEUKHIFV6L on 2006-09-27
I'll start with the positive:
* I really like the feel of this keyboard. It's better than all the PC keyboards I tried and it's much better than the standard Apple keyboards, which feel mushy to me. However, keyboard feel is of course a matter of taste, and I highly recommend trying one out in a store. I had previously bought a keyboard online based on positive reviews, and I hated the way it felt.
* Although I use this in a setting where wireless adds little value, it's still sort of nice. I can pick up the keyboard and put it elsewhere on my desk if I want to sketch something out on paper.
* The iTunes buttons (including volume control and mute) are great. They even work when the screensaver is on, which is not something you get with software-only iTunes controls. With those programs, the keys go to the password box (to unlock your screen) instead of directly controlling iTunes.
* The mouse feels comfortable and has decent buttons (perhaps too many). I've remapped one of the buttons to "middle click" so that I can open new tabs in my web browser.
A few negatives though:
* Being wireless, there's sometimes noticeable lag. This is more a problem for the mouse than the keyboard. It goes to sleep when you're not using it actively, so it takes some movement to wake it up again. With the keyboard on the other hand, I'm using it all the time so it has fewer chances to fall asleep.
* The drivers don't offer all the customization I'd like. For example, you can't reassign the iTunes keys to control another music player. (Note for Intel Mac users: the drivers now work on the Intel Mac.)
Overall I'm pretty happy with it. I'm a very picky keyboard user; I want the keys to feel responsive and give me feedback when the keystroke is sent to the computer. I've been looking for a new keyboard for about a year, and this one is the first one I've been happy with. It's not perfect, but it doesn't seem that my perfect keyboard is out there.
Good keyboard and mouse; more solid than they look By A2Q6I453ZNXBE2 on 2006-02-20
I'm typing on the keyboard right now.
I was a little surprised by the look of the keyboard. It looks a bit flimsy. The round buttons on the side look a bit cheap, out of place on a Logitech keyboard. But - it feels great. I'm very comfortable typing on it, and my accurate typing speed is definitely higher than it was on my old Mac keyboard.
I'm not sure about the "it's not all white" complaint. If you look at the photo, it's clear that there's some non-white on it (it's just silver-ish plastic; there's no metal in its case), and the description makes it clear that it's white and silver.
And, just so you know - it works just fine if you plug the receiver into a PC instead of a Mac.
- not yet compatible with intel macs
     By AHC3Z69L3R13H on 2006-02-08
I bought this recently and received it quickly from amazon.com. I just bought a new intel imac and was really looking for a clean wireless look for my now less cluttered desk. I wanted wireless and lots of buttons. With this keyboard and mouse desktop i received only wireless. thusfar, logitech's new mac supported keyboard does not support apple's new intel macs. This was disappointing as I bought this switching from the logitech bluetooth mx5000 desktop which has the mx1000 mouse. Not to fear for long as logitech is apparently working on this: http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php? I just wished it worked out of the box like my intel imac. Of course, as soon as the new driver is released i'm sure i'll be happy and change my stance. For this reason, i give this only a 2 star rating.
I agree with the previous reviewer in that the mouse buttons have some give. I actually found that the keyboard keys too have some even noisier give but neither affect the performance and really aren't a nuisance once you start punching away.
Now the design and feel while typing and mousing are wonderful and comfortable. the desktop does look wonderful next to an imac and while i don't play games on my computer, i haven't noticed any lag in response. In fact i feel that it is snappier then the mx5000 desktop.
In all, this looks wonderful, but currently only functions minimally. Logitech will have to release the updated drivers/software before i switch to a 4 star rating.
- Great Wireless Keyboard & Mouse Combo
     By A3DBW5ZEQIWVEY on 2006-12-05
New drivers came our for the Intel Macs.
Owned for about 4 months, and really like this combo.
Small issues - back mouse button doesn't work in Safari,
but does in Firefox. Wish mouse was rechargeable.
Very streamlined, and great feel for both. Battery life on keyboard is very long ... mouse will depend on use.
I only use little receiver in back of Mac, and works great.
A+ for this design.
- Good so far
     By A2LJXP8W8ED8XI on 2006-03-02
After reading all the reviews on here I felt I had add my own once I received my keyboard and mouse.
First impressesion is that both keyboard and mouse feel really good. I am used to a natural keyboard, so it is going to take a little time to get used to a "normal" keyboard again. I don't know why natural keyboards aren't popular enough. Try and find a wireless keyboard for your Mac...now try to find a wireless NATURAL keyboard for your Mac...impossible. There are Windows wireless natural keyboards, but I don't want that for my Mac.
Anyway, first I'd like to respond to a couple of reviews here.
To the guy that say that the keyboard was too flat and there is no way to adjust it. You are right about being too flat. But, there are little legs at the back of the keyboard that allows you to raise the back.
Also, to confirm, the keyboard does work on a Windows box. I have the extension piece attached to my PC and I use the USB dongle to switch between my Powerbook and my PC. We'll see how well that works.
All the keys works as expected. The initial set up by the Logitech Control Center of the email and web browser keys where a little strange. The Mail key was set up to open a 'mailto:' url which opens up a new message in your default mail program. The web browser key (home) opens up an empty URL that Firefox give an error on. I guess you are meant to put in your home page address in the settings. I just set it to open Firefox.
The keyboard is pretty clicky. I like how it feels. It's going to get used to like any other keyboard out there. The mouse is pretty good so far. I found it was a lot more sensitive than my old Logitech USB mouse that I was using. I had to turn down the track settings. The forward/back buttons on the mouse are handy. The volume controls on the mouse are nifty, but I don't see that I'll be using those that much.
In answer to the guy that was complaining about the Delete and Backspace keys. They work as I would expect. The 'Backspace' key does a left delete and the 'Delete' key does a right delete.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because it isn't a Natural Keyboard. I was expecting what I got, but just to encourage Logitech or other keyboard manufacturers to think about creating a natural wireless keyboard for the Mac.
- Quality keyboard, but mouse could be improved
     By A1M13UOXGEPDY3 on 2006-03-12
I just purchased a new Intel Dual Core Mac mini, and was surprised to find that the Logitech software isn't compatible. Though a version is due out by April (according to the company), the lost functionality is a great disappointment. Most of the mouse features can be recreated using USB Overdrive, but there's no way to activate the volume up and down buttons (the mute button works just fine). Unfortunately, USB Overdrive doesn't work with keyboards, so the extra keys (used to launch iTunes, iPhoto, and your e-mail program, among other things) become window dressing.
The keyboard is good, and provides excellent feedback with just enough resistance. The command key is slightly smaller than on the standard Apple keyboard, so you might end up hitting the edge of the option key until you get used to it.
I felt the mouse was too light, even with the two double-A batteries, but this is more of a pesonal preference than anything else. The mouse would also definitely benefit from the additional scrolling buttons ("Cruise Control") included in the Logitech MX1000 Laser Mouse.
If you're looking for the added shortcuts the keyboard provides and have one of the new Intel Macs, wait until April when Logitech updates the software. Otherwise, this is a solid replacement for the standard Apple keyboard and mouse. If you're looking for a really capable mouse, and can afford the extra cost, check out the MX1000 Laser Mouse.

In the world of newspaper production the deadline is king and you'd better be sure you make it. I was anxious to try out the new cordless keyboard and mouse set from Logitech with integrated application and web controls. As deadline approaches, any advantage you have over the clock is very welcomed and I found some of the keyboard shortcuts that Logitech has built into the S530 to be quite handy. You can designate any of your applications as hot buttons on the keyboard, booting them up and taking care of business without delay. I used the keyboard on a dual G5 running Tiger 10.4.3 and set Safari, Photoshop and InDesign as my hot apps. Ergonomically, the wireless ultra-flat keyboard has more of a laptop feel to it even though the keys are full size. An LED battery status indicator blinks green until 10 days before the batteries need to be changed. Battery life is listed to be 6 months or more and the keyboard requires 2AAA batteries while the mouse gets 2 AA. The laser mouse has internet forward and back buttons built in to the curved thumb area as well as volume controls. I worked in photoshop quite a bit with the set hooked up and the mouse was smooth and precise and fit in my hand well. The mouse felt a bit light out of the box but the batteries that need to be installed gave it some weight back. Not having to deal with tangled or snagged cords was a treat as well and also provided some surprise workstation security at home as we found a keyboard kept out of reach when not in use when small children have access to your pc works just as good as a password.
- Finaly...A Mouse and Keyboard That Work!
     By A1Z11E2GY5UOOV on 2006-03-31
I've had nothing but trouble using any wireless keyboard and mouse with my PowerMac G5. I had an old Logitec wireless desktop that I used for a while but it had no software for the mac thus limiting its capabilities and ability to adjust the mouse. I also tried Microsoft's Laser 6000 series desktop. What a mistake! I could never get the mouse to work properly. Basic pointing and clicking just didn't work. Even typing had problems. The receiver was not even 24 inches away!
Thank goodness Logitech finally steped up and came out with a desktop exclusively for the Mac. I've only had it for about 24 hours, but so far it is working spectacularly! The mouse is very accurate. The keyboard is stylish and has a nice fell once you get used to it. Kind of like the old school pc keyboards. The software is very nice. I would have liked to see more available options for the buttons (like showing the desktop), but with a little experimenting you can get it to do anything you want. The preset buttons on the keyboard required no configuration and work just fine. I like that they are small and unobtrusive. Hopefully this will be a good seller for Logitec and they will continue to produce desktops exclusively for the Mac. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
- Nice Touch
     By A1XA6EE8MHB4TM on 2006-11-04
I am no expert. I've used Macs for 18 years, but my technical expertise is minimal. Given that, I've never been a fan of Mac keyboards--they seem unresponsive. (Laptops excluded). Plus, I was having trouble with the Bluetooth connection on my latest Mac keyboard. Is part of my problem that I started out on manual typewrters, pounding away, and if I was younger I would be happier with Mac keyboards? Dunno.
So I went with this Logitech Cordeless Desktop. Love it. It is reliable, and the keyboard is perfect for me--I can type quickly and accurately. I've had great luck with other Logitech products too.
For the record, Amazon got this keyboard to me quick at what I take to be a good price.
- Great wireless keyboard and mouse
     By A61HLUACE36S0 on 2006-11-05
The keyboard and mouse moues very well with my mac. The receiver is small, the shortcuts on the keyboard are nice, and the buttons on the mouse are very useful. Highly recommend the product. It is very easy to configure, and they both are very comfortable. the keyboard is quite thin, and the mouse fits well in your hand.
- Terrific Wireless Keyboard for mac!
     By A25KKXUQQ0OLWB on 2007-02-28
I bought the Kensington Wireless Keyboard less than two weeks ago and was dissatisfied. The keyboard was so hard to type on, my fingers hurt from typing after 10 minutes and it failed in recording all my keystrokes so spelling was creative. This keyboard and mouse from Logitech is smooth, precise and easy to use. I can tell the difference in my typing after only one night. I highly recommend this keyboard over the Kensington which is much cheaper but doesn't work well. Pay the price difference, you won't regret it.
- Wonderful improvent over the MAC keyboard and mighty mouse. Like driving a Mercedes Benz with the reliability of a Toyota.
     By A2Z88UVRKMB50Q on 2008-01-15
Logitech has always been known for the high quality of its products. I work everyday on a PC environment and recently (December, 2007) bought a new iMac for my home. I love my iMac and my first impression at looking at its new titanium sleek keyboard and the mighty mouse were that those were very cool artifacts. But as you many now know, I find the Apple sleek keyboard irritating and a pain for writers. There is zero ergomics there and the keyboard has a funny feeling that over the times is quite disturbing. The mighty mouse is also a pain to use, and very very slow no matter how fast I set it to be in my system preferences. Desperate for a solution and after reading all the reviews of the third parties solutions, and also considering the quality of Logitech products I decided to buy this keyboard and mouse solution. Let me tell you that the IMPROVEMENT in the user experience of my iMac has has a 180 grade turn. The Logitech keyboard while being sleek is a pleasure to write on, not like the chiclets like awful Mac keyboard. I almost like to write more than I have too, this keyboard is really a pleasure. The mouse is also very accurate and blasting FAST. Is like a 10x improvement in accuracy and speed in comparison of the not so mighty mighty mouse from Apple. This keyboard and mouse is like riding a Mercedes Benz with the reliability of a Toyota. Totally recommended.
- Finally......
     By A1X7MRG5Q3WN2J on 2006-02-01
Finally Logitech has made a keyboard and mouse, wireless to boot, that is made for a mac and then some. This keyboard has been a great upgrade to the old Apple issue keyboard. It is aesthetically beautiful and works well with my Power Mac.
The mouse has wonderful extras and is almost as good as the MX 1000. This one on the other hand has a few keys that are very useful like the volume and forward and backward buttons. It is shaped quite ergonomically and is light as well.
The keyboard feels really good with the keys easy to reach and flowing quite good. The one thing here that would of been better would be if it was a natural keyboard in this same style. All of the features that the Apple issue has and more are on this keyboard.
All in all this keyboard is well worth the price.
- Logitech S530 Cordless Desktop
     By AAWAEJ2CZZOB4 on 2006-03-07
I picked up this package at our local CompUSA today. I have been looking at this since Logitech has announced it and just had to play the waiting game. At the store I had to ask for special permission to open the box up to feel the keyboard, being that they did not have one on display. I had to think about it for awhile, being that I have owned Logitech Keyboards in the past, and they seemed to have sticking buttons after a short while of intense use.
I plugged it in, and it was nice to have a keyboard made especially for the Macintosh. I own a Powerbook, and I use an external keyboard and mouse to save on the keyboard and trackpad use.
Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase, rating it a 4 only because because of it being RF technology. It would have been nice if Logitech made a Bluetooth version of this.
- Solid keyboard and mouse combo
     By AMZYCMVLCC57G on 2006-07-01
Ever since moving away from ADB equipped Macs I've been looking for a keyboard to replace my beloved Apple Extended Keyboard II. I loved that keyboard for it's heavy construction, solid mechanical key strokes and simple, clean layout. The keyboard in the Logitech Cordless Desktop S530 Laser for Mac bundle does not have that same solid feel, but may finally be the replacement I've been looking for. While visually the keys look light weight and not terribly solid they have a very positive feel while typing, giving good tactile feedback and not requiring too much effort to depress. I find that the angle on which the keyboard sits and the integrated palm rest work well and provide a comfortable configuration for extended work sessions. The keyboard's integrated application buttons for e-mail, web browser, etc. aren't terrible useful for me, but certainly do not look out of place or get in the way.
The bundled mouse is fantastic and probably the best optical mouse I've used. It is highly responsive but exhibits none of the twitchiness I've seen in some other optical mice, even when used on mousing surfaces that are less than ideal for the optical sensor.
Overall this is a solid bundle that looks to give years of reliable, comfortable and flexible service.
- Review of Logitech S 530 for the Mac
     By A3IXALE323WE02 on 2007-05-23
Normally, I would not write a review about a keyboard and mouse. In this case I will. I read a lot of reviews that either liked the product or did not. Therefore, I put off buying this product until April 2007. For me:
1. The keyboard (5/5) has been great. Absolutely no problems - but - I did have to get a replacement because the "A" key and "Tab" bar stuck on occasion. Other than that - no problems. It does not feel cheap and it is very comfortable to type on. Oh and Amazon was great in replacing the unit, quickly and professionally.
2. The mouse (4/5) is not as good as my Logitech Revolution, but that is to be expected. The main reason I continue to use the S 530 Mouse vs. the Revolution has to due with the use of my virtualization programs - Parallels and VMware. For some reason the Revolution causes all sorts of problems and at times my iMac will lock forcing a hard reboot. Upon switching to the S 530 Mouse - I have not had any problems, go figure.
3. Using the S 530 with the Logitech Control Software version lcc213 has not presented itself with any problems - none - zip. I have read more posting trashing this software than I can ever remember. For me - I have not had a problem. When I switch in and out of Parallels or VMware - granted not all the features work and to me this is no big deal. Once I close those programs, after a short time all the programed keys on the S 530 return to normal function.
I hope this review will help others that may be on the cusp like I was. I took a chance and for me it has been great. The S 530 replaced the Revolution, MM and Apple's Bluetooth Keyboard. While I would really like to see a BT version, the S 530 has been one of the better investments I have made.
- Ostensibly good product marred by bad software
     By ABYY4O9HX3ZF1 on 2007-09-25
The keyboard is very comfortable and sleek, as is the mouse. The key layout is fine and the responsiveness is fine. The mouse isn't compatible with left-handed users but feels comfortable and smooth.
My main problem with this product is the "Logitech Control Center" software that is needed to use some of the spiffier buttons on the keyboard and mouse (open email, open browser, iTunes track control, forward/back buttons on mouse, etc).
First of all, the disk that comes with the hardware doesn't load to an Intel based Mac's desktop, period. You have to eventually force-eject it at startup using the "hold mouse button down during startup" trick. Begin ominous music here.
If you manage to download the "driver" software from the Logitech site, things get worse. Just google Logitech Control Center to get an idea.
The software uses Application Enhancer, a problematic framework that currently has known issues for Intel based Macs, causing your machine to chug during startup and for a good 30-40 seconds at login and logout, and hogs CPU cycles & RAM. The control center itself is notoriously unstable as well.
To make matters worse, the bundled "Uninstaller" doesn't remove the App Enhancer framework. An unwary user is thereby left with a machine that has become quizzically slower. Unless you take a good look at your Activity Monitor and stumble across the appropriate "gripe" forums, you've basically gimped your machine without even knowing it.
So...yeah. Get the keyboard if you like the ergonomic aspects of it, but don't expect to use the special features anytime soon.
- Great mouse and keyboard
     By AHMIY9KJZNTN2 on 2006-06-09
I bought a logitech wireless optical mouse probably when they first came out. I have used that for many years but became frustered with the battery life.
So I decided to go with this package because I paid about $70 for the mouse when I first got it and the price for this package was comparable. The mouse technology has improved a lot since then. The laser technology is so much smoother and feels like a wired mouse. Since it is laser, there is not any noticeable visible light emitted from the mouse which I hope helps the battery life. It is also very comfortable in my hand. The favorite part of the mouse is the volume controls built right in on the side.
The keyboard is also great. It took me about a day to get use to its flatter shape of the keyboard but now I can type more accurately with the same speed. The buttons on the sides are also very useful.
Overall this is the best mouse and keyboard combination that I know of available for the mac and finally logitech has released a software updated to work with intel macs!
- Very disappointing
     By AF1KDYMTSECXE on 2006-08-31
I purchased this for my Intel iMac mainly because I was so frustrated with the Mighty Mouse. I wanted something with two separate buttons. I had tried the Logitech MX 610 (which I purchased as well for another computer) and thought that the ergonomic shape felt wonderful. So, I purchased this desktop set because I wanted it to match my Mac and so I could have a proper 2 button mouse. I figured the Mac keyboard could use improvement as well so the keyboard could come in handy as well. In fact, I thought I would get added convenience since this was a keyboard designed for a Mac and had extra shortcut buttons.
Other than having 2 separate buttons on the mouse, this keyboard/mouse combo has been an utter disappointment.
First of all, the white doesn't quite match. It's close, but just a touch too cream. Also, there's just too much silver. Especially on the mouse.
Secondly, it doesn't have all the buttons the Mighty Mouse does. There is no button to switch to the Widgets. Luckily, you can press F12 on the keyboard. Not quite as convenient, but still possible. However, I have yet to find a button that allows you to switch between various open programs. This is especially necessary if you have multiple web browsers open.
Thirdly, this mouse just doesn't work as well as other Logitechs. It is too light, lacking the "feel" and a bit of the comforting weight that the MX 610 has when you move it around. Also, the speed of the cursor is off. No matter how I try to adjust the speed, it doesn't quite match the speed of the original Mighty Mouse. It is either too fast or too slow. I think part of it is simply OSX's lack of adjustability compared to [gasp] Windows for cursor speed.
Finally, the keyboard is simply atrocious. I don't even use it anymore. It's packed up in the box and I plugged the original Mac keyboard back in. The keys make a horrendous clatter when typing. The pressure is nonexistant making touch typing just a bit more difficult than normal. Also, the depth is quite shallow. This is a desktop keyboard. You can press the key down further on nearly all the laptop keyboards I've tried. Also, the texture of the keys is far too smooth and uniform. The raised dots to help you find the F or J buttons is too shallow. I can't find the asdf an jkl; rows by touch. I have to look. As a touch typist, this is an unforgiveable sin. It basically transforms you from a touch typist to a hunt and peck typer who has to visually find each key before you can hit it. I'm typing on a Thinkpad whose laptop keyboard is far superior to this Logitech.
So, in short, save your money and avoid this keyboard/mouse combo. I rated it a two because the mouse did have 2 separate buttons, unlike the Mighty Mouse, which is why I purchased this in the first place. It hit my most basic requirement. Otherwise, it really deserves a 1 star rating.
- Excellent
     By A6SUG7KKCCM82 on 2006-11-05
Bought this keyboard/mouse set for my PC... been working flawlessly for several months, although some of the multimedia keys don't work.... but I knew this going in, and it hasn't been much of an issue.
- Good concept, flawed execution
     By A3TFZPZD50ILAT on 2007-09-27
After the first day of owning this keyboard/mice combo I would have been inclined to give it a 5. It looks pretty good with my MacBook Pro, the mouse is very comfortable, and after installing the software update from the Logitech website it worked as advertised on this new Intel model (not that the software tells you it needs to be updated... I had to find that out online when the software from the CD didn't work).
The problems started the second day, after I replugged the device into my laptop... everything seemed to work fine at first, but the key mapping for the option and Apple keys was backwards, and none of the special function keys worked. When I opened the Logitech control center it said there were no Logitech devices recognized. I have to restart the computer every day when I get into the office and plug the adapter in to get everything to work properly. The keyboard and mouse also seem to flake out occasionally. Power-cycling them or even just opening the Logitech control panel seems to bring them back to life. In short, I like the hardware, but Logitech's software is pretty crummy.
Pros:
* Solid hardware
* Great mouse
* Nice extra keys for iTunes, browser, etc.
* Looks pretty good
Cons:
* Buggy control software
* Forces daily restarts of the laptop
* The white plastic look is not to everyone's tastes
* Must remove batteries to recharge (doesn't come with rechargeable)
- A perfect addition to a perfect machine

I first saw this setup at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco. I was sold on it. This is such an excellent addition to an excellent computer as the Mac. I am using this on a G4 running OS X 10.4.4 Tiger. I didn't need this to be able to work from across the room or anything - it was the wires that were beginning to drive me crazy. Logitech's answer here is a wonderfully thin keyboard with so much functionality in the extra buttons. Even the mouse has controls for volume and page back and forth. If you're thinking about a bluetooth setup, think no more. According to the Logitech spokesman, the battery life on this set is more than twice as long as a bluetooth one. Very much worth the money!
- Solid product

This was my first wireless keyboard/mouse. The appearance is generally very good, coordinating well with my iMac G5. The specialty keys on the side have nice, black symbols on them. I find these keys quite useful as they can be used to open iPhoto, iTunes, etc. with a single keystroke. I'm now used to the volume controls being off to the side rather than over the number pad where they are on the Apple keyboard. The letters and symbols on the keyboard are more gray, and don't look as good as the special keys. Keyboard feel is good. It's a little more noisy than the Apple keyboard, but not irritatingly so. The mouse is very good, which is how I typically feel about Logitech multi-button mice. Tracking is precise without a mousepad. I like the definable keys. Side scrolling is nice, but I don't use it much as the iMac monitor is wide enough to not need it. Having the extra thumb button (compared to my other two Logitech mice) is handy. Doing away with the cords makes for a sleek look on the desk. You do lose the 2 USB ports on the Apple keyboard with this keyboard, but that is no problem for me; however, this might be an issue for some users. The Logitech software works flawlessly in OS 10.4.5.
The mouse is a 5, the keyboard a 4. Overall, I rated it a 4 based on the keyboard for the mild noise and the gray lettering.
- I Love This Thing

I am very pleased with both the keyboard and the mouse. The keyboard just feels good. I love all the programable buttons like email, your browser, iPhoto, iTunes, etc.
The software allows you to change the function of most keys very easily. I have the scroll wheel button set to "Sreen Grab" and the one side button set to "Dictionary" and the other set to open my pictures file, as I use it frequently. It also has complete controlls for iTunes.I also like the scroll wheel's ability to scroll side to side. The mouse feels very good in your hand and glides effortlessly on any smooth table top. The only thing is miss is the lighted caps lock button, but hey, the batteries last forever in this thing.
I highly recommend this product.
- Nice Keyboard and mouse

Great combo. The only issue I have is the very weak space bar response while typing. This may be an issue with just my keyboard only and it isn't irritating enough to send it back. Love all the app specific buttons! So far, so good on the battery life. Highly recommend this wireless combo!
- Works well on a dual purpose Windows XP / OS X MacBook Pro

Just wanted to chime it and let anyone who was wondering know that this mouse/keyboard works perfectly under Windows XP as well as OS X, I'm very happy with it.
Also I have bought various wireless mice in the past and they have all sucked, this one however rocks!
- Better than Apple bluetooth keyboard/mouse

I read over the other reviews posted regarding this product (mouse + keyboard). I'm not sure what the problem is. I just got a new Mac Mini (Core Duo). I picked up the S 530 and it works like a charm. I downloaded the driver from the Logitech website and customized the keyboard functions. No problem. This is just as fast and responsive as bluetooth and it is very customizable. I won't go back to Apple's bluetuth keyboard (though it worked fine).
