Seventh Generation Paper Towels, Natural, 2-Ply Sheets (Pack of 30)x$54.00
    (39 reviews)
Best Price: $73.85 $54.00
Buying products made from recycled paper helps reduce the need for virgin wood pulp, which means more trees are left standing. These hard-working paper towels absorb spills quickly, even when wet. Our thick and thirsty paper towels are a perfect choice for cleaning windows and other reflective surfaces. 100 percent recycled paper Hypo-allergenic Whitened without chlorine bleach or unbleached Strong and absorbent Unscented Free of dyes Seventh Generation Recycled Paper Towels absorb spills quickly and work hard, even when wet. These thick and thirsty towels are also lint-free, making them a perfect choice for cleaning windows and other reflective surfaces. And they are made from 100% recycled paper, with a minimum of 80% post-consumer materials, making them the right choice for the environment. Made from 100% Recycled Chlorine-Free Paper By choosing Seventh Generation Recycled Paper Towels, you'll be making an important environmental difference immediately. These paper towels are not whitened with chlorine and are made from 100% recycled paper (80% post-consumer, 20% pre-consumer). Hypo-allergenic, unbleached, strong and absorbent, these towels will help you keep your home and the environment clean. Post-consumer paper is paper that has been recycled at home or at the office. Buying post-consumer paper helps finish the job you started--of saving the earth's natural resources, including trees, water, and energy. And using products made from post-consumer recycled materials helps reduce the need for virgin wood pulp, which means more trees are left standing. Trees naturally absorb carbon dioxide--a greenhouse gas that's the primary contributor to global warming. In fact, a single tree, over its lifetime, absorbs about one tone of CO2. To put it another way, a ton of recycled paper saves seventeen trees. If every household in the U.S. replaced just one roll of 120 sheet virgin fiber paper towels with 100% recycled ones, we could save: 1 million trees, 2.6 million cubic feet of landfill space (equal to over 3,800 full garbage trucks), 367 million gallons of water (a year's supply for 2,800 families of four), and avoid 38,000 tons of pollution. And because these towels are unbleached and have not been treated with chlorine, you can safely compost them in your garden when you're done using them. About Seventh Generation Seventh Generation offers a complete line of natural household products designed to work as well as their traditional counterparts, but use renewable, non-toxic, phosphate-free, and biodegradable ingredients as often as possible, and are never tested on animals. Seventh Generation products are healthy and safe for the air, the surfaces, the pets, and the people in your home--and for the environment outside of it. Every time you use Seventh Generation products you make a difference by saving natural resources, keeping toxic chemicals out of the environment, and making the world a safer place for this and the next seven generations.

Perfectly serviceable By A2T4VF5UGKUIE3 on 2006-06-18
Quite decent paper towels -- not much to say about it. Their absorbency is a little bit less than nonrecycled ones, but not bad, and no further trees had to be cut down for it.
What the product description should say but doesn't: these are 120-sheet rolls. Each sheet is 11x9".
Something I didn't entirely realize before I ordered a box -- thirty rolls is a lot of paper towels. Like, oh, twenty pounds of the stuff. So you're going to have these on hand for a while. You'll have to bring them along when you move, and they'll watch the children whose playpens you cleaned up with the first of them leave for college after wiping their car's dipstick with the last. It's something of a committment, really.
Good product at a decent price By AUAO063JW98XZ on 2006-07-16
These are good paper towels, good absorbency and stand up relatively well when wet.
Do the math By A33HDOMQYAXY22 on 2007-09-21
You might be comparing these brown paper towels with the 30 rolls of Seventh Generation, white paper towels also sold on Amazon wondering which is cheaper. Note that these are 120 sheets per roll. The white ones are 70 sheets per roll.
White paper towels
$40.99/(30*70) = 1.9 cents per sheet.
Brown paper towels
$54.99/(30*120) = 1.5 cents per sheet.
So the brown ones are cheaper.

Tree Free - Reduces Lots of Pollution By A3984IXSP0Q17I on 2006-10-04
It may take 2 sheets to blot up as much liquid as Bounty, but it takes zero trees. It creates a market for waste paper which otherwise would be thrown in the garbage. It also saves a ton of water and creates no dioxins like chlorine bleached paper towels do. And dioxins are among the deadliest poisons on the planet. If you care about your children this stuff is a no-brainer. Everytime you purchase it, we all win.
Not as thick or strong as the White version By A3NOBH42C7UI5M on 2007-10-17
I tried both the bleached white and the brown natural versions of these towels and I BY FAR prefer the white; not because of the color, but because you get more for your money.
The white towels are not as soft feeling as your grocery store preferred brands. They actually feel rather rough; but they are quite strong and lint free. Both versions are the same size towel, about 1/3rd smaller than your standard papertowel. The brown version feels much thinner and is not nearly as strong. I can't even dry my hands with one towel, they rip to pieces. On both, the perforations are not cut very well and it's nearly impossible to tear off a single sheet, especially the white. I can use the white towel and hang it on my kitchen faucet to dry and use it again; not so with the brown version. The brown towels are in pieces after drying one coffee cup.
I wish they would tear off the roll easier but I'd buy the white towel again, but I wouldn't buy the brown natural towel.
- No-guilt paper towels
     By A38UEWHGQQMHVC on 2006-08-19
My husband and I love these-- one box lasts a couple of months; we use them for cleaning, napkins, whatever. I actually love the look of these. I first bought them years ago because I thought it was great that they were not bleached (dioxins and all that), but I really like the color-- it looks different, and we're not ones for teddy bears on paper towels anyway.
- 7th generation Paper Towels
     By A3I4X7VU5BRG2 on 2006-11-04
This is a great product. We have been using these for about 8 years. Amazon used to have the cheapest price, but the rates have gone up a bit. Make sure that you get the free shipping or you can get them cheaper offline.
- Not Absorbent Enough
     By A1BWBAHHL1CA2R on 2007-05-20
These paper towels at first sounded like a great idea, but I have found that they are not that absorbent. More paper towels are used for a clean-up job than what would have to be used on a standard Scott's or Bounty towel. When these towels get wet they become very waterlogged and so their capacity to pick up spilled liquids is very limited.
I was initially intriqued by the thought of helping to spare the environment by using recycled paper towels, but the benefit is probably eliminated when more of the towels have to be used for the same job. Perhaps if this company made the towels in a higher ply this concern could be addressed.
- Eco & Health Friendly
     By A2FGN0P50A73RY on 2007-03-26
If you can get these with free shipping, it is well worth buying in bulk. They use no chlorine to bleach the paper towels, so they are both ecological and family-health friendly. Also, I have noticed that the rolls are bigger and the towels thicker than when I buy them individually at Whole Foods. When they offer free shipping, we stock up!
- Score it in the middle
     By A3IKDWAQDA0SU on 2008-04-22
I really wish Seventh Generation Paper Towels were scored down the middle of the 9" X 11" sheets like the Brawney "Pick-a-Size" towels are. I can see huge benefits to the environment if people could easily pull off just half sheets at a time which is really all we usually need.
- I thought these these were terrible...
     By A2XSLCCKZD6DA9 on 2008-03-03
...my wife wants to go "green" as much as possible so I gave these a try...forget about soaking up spills, these things are practically waterproof!...forget about scrubbing, they fall apart like wet tissue paper!...I want to be environmentally considerate but I practicality carries a lot of weight and these towels fail in that respect.
- Eco-friendly but inefficient
     By AVGQPKXBXV2NM on 2008-03-04
These paper towels are just not very absorbent. I don't mind that they are not white, that they don't have little food related drawings all over them, that they don't tear off in single 1/2 use sized strips or that there are not as many sheets to the roll as some others. What I mind is that, in order to clean up, dry up, whatever, I need to use more than I would if I purchased some that were less Eco-friendly. I'm going to try the white version next and see if they work better.
- The Best Paper Towels
     By A3IT8RX8R7WKZX on 2008-05-12
As far as I'm concerned, these are about the best paper towels you can buy! One reviewer noted that you get a lot of paper towels and they last a long time. In my opinion, that's a huge plus. I think it is very convenient to have them shipped to your home and have them on hand. I NEVER run out of paper towels. As far as their intended purpose, I think they work wonderfully. No, they aren't soft, fuzzy, quilted, bleached, or have colored designs on them; nor do they smell like anything artificial. I don't think consumers realize how many chemicals go into a product like Bounty. If you use them to warm up food in the microwave, I think you are less likely to infuse your food with chemicals as with a mainstream product. With seven rescue dogs in the house, I use them for all sorts of nasty clean-up jobs and find them very adequate. I find they work well for cleaning mirrors and appliances as well. It makes me happy to have an alternative to what the rest of the world is using. I think different is good! If you really want to be environmentally minded, keep a stash of old bath towels, wash rags and hand towels on hand. Use them in place of the paper towels. I save the paper towels for finish work in cleaning and for clean-up jobs that are too nasty to put into my washing machine (yes, they do exist)! If you are chemically sensitive or have allergies, I would highly recommend you try this product!
- Natural Paper Towels
     By A3NPZO3HPTFC4N on 2008-01-27
Although these may bring back vague rememberences of eating in the school cafeteria they actually work great. It makes me feel good to know that I'm helping the environment without sacrificing quality.
great for cleaning mirrors, bathrooms or kitchen counters.
- Great buy
     By A2G8BVYI0429JN on 2008-02-24
I bought these on auto ship when 7th gen products were on sale. I have always liked them but it is much cheaper for me now that I buy them through Amazon. They last a long time.
- Pefect Paper Towel
     By A2N1XH4RYQ4RQZ on 2008-02-25
I love these. These are much better than some of the mass-market brands. The absorb well and dont leave lint.
- Not bad and a nice way to reduce your eco footprint a little
     By AOOZVHBQOFBMR on 2008-03-28
While the 7th Generation paper towels aren't as absorbent as some of the higher end name brands they are a cut above the store brand and low end paper towels. We use a lot of paper towels at our house with 4 cats and 1 kid. So in an effort to reduce our impact on the planet I decided to try the 7th Generation towels. We may be using more a few more paper towels but at least they are made of recycled paper. I do wish they could get them to be more absorbent and still be eco-friendly. If you can get them on sale and pick free shipping they are worth buying.
- Good enough
     By A2V7A7W8FFVD8F on 2008-04-04
These paper towels are not quite as soft nor absorbent as Bounty, but they're good enough for every use I've thrown at them. The price through Amazon's Subscribe & Save makes the competitive with the regular brands, with the obvious benefit being that they're made of 100% recycled paper (Bounty, as a comparison, uses 100% virgin fiber).
If your primary concern is the environment, then you will want to consider the effect of shipping 30lbs of paper towels across the country. You're probably best off using reusable rags whenever possible, but when you absolutely need a disposable towel, these work just fine.
- Good product, just not as absorbent
     By A3DRGVJ0GE4NUR on 2008-05-27
I feel that these paper towels work well and they are good for the environment. I will say that it takes a bit to get used to them because they feel like they arent as absorbent. I do think they do the job just as well as the regular ones do.
- Great!
     By A3L9BVD31WUZJQ on 2008-06-24
I've always bought generic or store brand paper towels, myself. I'm sure these don't stack up to a Bounty or a Brawny, but those high end products don't stack up to actual cotton towels, do they?
I mean, you're buying PAPER towels. Amirite? Can I get an 'amen?' Aw-rite!
Anyway, these paper towels are as good as anything I've ever used. If you're like me and you 1. like buying in bulk via amazon prime and 2. you want to expand the market for recycled paper goods then these are for you.
Do it. You won't regret it.
- Good eco-friendly paper towels
     By AA4XMNPQUDQ4O on 2008-10-04
These paper towels work well and are environmentally friendly. They are also free of chemicals and dyes which is a plus when I'm heating something up in the microwave and need to cover it or when I'm making french fries or bacon and need to soak up some of the grease. They soak up liquids just fine when I use them for cleaning. They aren`'t very soft, but they aren't very rough either, somewhere in the middle. I'm not one to be picky about things like paper towels so I like them just fine. Also combine them with Amazon Subscribe & Save, and I never run out of paper towels.
- 7th Generation Paper Towels
     By A2H9D4AOKZI435 on 2007-03-09
They're durable, made of post-consumer recycled paper fiber and unbleached, everything this consumer sought from a paper towel. The bulk buy dropped the cost to a reasonable per unit price. Not as absorbant as some might prefer and they're not cushy soft. But they do the job just fine to suit me.
- Lasts a looooong time
     By A1VU8J0DOZYPTT on 2007-06-24
As some of the reviewers mentioned, these last a long time. Besides the environmental concerns, these are the best paper towels I have purchased for one reason - there are a lot per roll. It seems like I was buying paper towels all the time before. These I have kept for quite a while.
Besides that, I find these are good for cleaning glass since they do not have much lent at all compared to the "fluffy" store kind.
- don't bother
     By A1VDNQO442LJP6 on 2007-10-20
These towels are pitiful. NOT aborbent. Not flexible. Not strong. Like wiping up a spill or cleaning a counter with a post-it. And I only have myself to blame for buying a whole case. Thought I was being earth-friendly. You know what would be more friendly? Use rags. That's what I'm going to do. As to the enormous case of these in my basement: perhaps ebay? I certainly can't donate them. That wouldn't be friendly either...
- Excellent Paper Towels
     By A3V7RG5GTWYCJA on 2008-01-23
Besides being better for the environment, these are just fine paper towels. Why do you need to destroy forests when this does the same job?
- Great paper towels
     By A1873459FM9XRN on 2008-04-25
These are great paper towels. They are absorbent and the sheets are a good size. I also appreciate that they are unbleached and safe for composting. After using these I won't buy another brand. These work wonderfully and are better for the environment to boot!
- Would have been 5 star except for the shipping
     By A620132IMKXNN on 2008-04-30
First I want to say that I think that products that are recycled or environmentally safe deserve a five star review no matter what. I do have issue with the way seventh generation sends out its products. I recieved a 30 pack of paper towels that looked as if it had been used as a tackling dummy. Now, having said that, they are just towels and I don't really care no damage done. On reading other reviews I have noticed that others report the same condition for some of thier packaging as well. As I said before, with towels no big deal, liquid soaps and detergents are another matter. If we're trying to globally cut down on waste then either better packaging or a more gental carrier service is needed since if you get a case of six bottles of detergent and two or three are crushed or have a hole in them stuff is obviously wasted and yet another replacement package needs to go out that may suffer the same fate. I realize that to keep costs down this shipping is what it is, but with so many people now seeing the advantages of going "Green" shouldn't consideration now be thrown into safe delivery of our eco friendly products? Maybe I'm just whistling in the wind but at some point there has to be a better way!
- good absorbancy
     By AILIE8KDT9DTX on 2008-05-27
Seventh Generation Paper Towels are super absorbant, while providing a great way to use recycled paper. Everything you need in a towel - when you can't use rags for Mother Earth!
- Great product to help do your part in saving natural resources.
     By A28O7ING0RGH4W on 2008-06-08
When we realized how many napkins &paper towels we used,we were shocked and went to the other extreme of using cloth napkins instead. However, we found ourselves still having uses for paper towels as well. Although we still often use cloth napkins at meals, we like having paper towels and knowing that they are made from 100% post consumer materials, and no bleach is used in thier making.
These towles are great and do a good job all around the house. Give them a try.
- high price-cheap paper towels
     By A2A6WDAS6P0F8C on 2008-07-04
I didn't like them--seems cheap and not glued on the roll. Glad i only bought one. And doesn't soak up water well have to use more of them !
