Fast, tiny, reliable memory By A1H4WLPFV59XMA on 2005-07-17
I have heard that 32x SD memory performs pretty much as well as the the SanDisk Extreme III cards do.That being the case, you can save about $10-$15 per gigabyte card by purchasing the cheaper 32x offerings.
Then again, SD memory is just becoming the top choice among manufacturers, and even though CF cards are cheap, fast, and durable, they are losing ground to the SD format at a rapid rate. If you have a camera that requires an SD card, get this one. SD will be around for a long time to come, and this card is a generation ahead of all others in terms of speed, and is built to near bullet proof standards. Even if your current camera seems happy with a 32x card, the Extreme III card is four times as fast for just a few more Dollars, and will still be ready to serve when you buy your next generation of digicam. I have two one gig Extreme III cards for my Canon S2 IS digicam, and they have been flawless to date. It is a real treat to know that my digital media can read and write at twice the speed of my current camera, as the SanDisk cards will still be leading edge when I replace the the Canon S2 sometime in the future.
I intend to buy more Extreme III 1 gig cards as time goes by. One gig in still mode is plenty for a two week vacation worth of still shots, but the awesome movie mode on the S2 calls for more memory, and the SanDisk Extreme III delivers the goods in a big way.
One last note. The CF card is the most mature of the lot, even though it is being abandoned by the industry due to it's larger size. Still, it is pretty small overall, and several will fit in your wallet. You can buy an ultra high speed CF card of one to four gig capacity for a song lately. As they get cheaper, buy them. Any cheap $14 card reader will let you use them as storage on your PC or Mac, and they offer great bang for the buck.
If you have a device that requires an SD card though, buy the best on the market. The SanDisk Extreme III is the best you can buy today. Nothing else even comes close.
Great deal ! By A1L9ECOQ94LZKT on 2005-10-15
Bought two of these for my Canon PowerShot S2 IS (one from Amazon) based on the review above. For where I'm from (Kuwait) this is a great deal because the regular SanDisk 1 GB SD cards are selling for the same price (not the Extreme III high performance ones). No complaints so far. Haven't tried any other cards with my camera, but these cards provide a lot of storage space for stills and up to 7.5 mins at highest resolution for video, all with great performance! Definetly recommend this for Digital Camera users.
Pleased with this card By A26BM4G76GAPCM on 2006-03-22
Works great so far. Very fast. With the Canon S-80 I can fit about 700 shots on this at the 5 megapixel setting with normal compression.
Fast Memory Card By A361JPR6GSLWAR on 2006-06-27
I purchased this card as a back-up for pictures at my granddaughter's wedding, and it ended up being my primary card because a)it definitely is faster than my other card (also SanDisk, but the UltraII 512MB), and b) because of the large size: it held all of the pictures - and then some. The additional speed is VERY noticable. No problems downloading etc. I can recommend it.
Great cards if you can dish out the dough By A2WSRE9H35XQ3A on 2006-03-12
These cards are the best on the market in terms of their tremendous Read/Write speed which relates to faster picure capture and more accurate pictures when shooting in burst mode. These also have the ability to work in many different environments (hot, cold, etc). Amazon had these at a great price. They retail for $140 each and I was able to get two of them for $160! Highly recommended.
- Fast and reliable
     By A2DW4LHACIWS78 on 2006-08-12
You'll never notice the speed difference with this card until you have to switch it out with a slower one. The difference is like going back to dial-up after being on broadband.
I REALLY like this little jewel!
- Good buy at this price point
     By A1VV1CFWRGSC9O on 2006-06-29
Six months ago, this card was $137, this was the the best price I could find. It has now become reasonable with the advent of the 2G and 4G cards.
It has almost doubled the speed at which I can take stills and has increased my card to comp transfer speed by almost the same (depending on reader).
Even though my original intent was to buy the most reliable SD card, the speed increase is a very pleasing side effect.
You do need a camera and card reader that can take advantage of the high speed, many cameras can't and most card readers won't (unless labeled "high speed").
I take pics all year long, here in MN, and need the quality that the Extreme advertises....so far...so good. We shall see...

I running Mac OS 10.4.7 with a Canon PowerShot Pro Series S3 IS 6MP camera. The Scan Disk has performed perfectly. The upload speed is impressive, I recommend this memory card without hesitation.

This is a great little piece of equipment for my digital photogrpahy. I do a lot of mountain hiking and I need the highest performing gear possible.
- Works great and is very fast
     By A1GIQAPL2UHSBB on 2006-08-27
I bought this card to take pictures at my wedding. It works great, is high capacity, and very fast. I didn't think I would notice the difference, but I do. I bought one for my wife's Kodak too. With her regular speed card there was an annoying 5-second lag in between taking photos. With this card the delay isn't even noticeable.
- great
     By A1X0SCFJWBI0JT on 2006-03-08
Nice card, have done some tests and works good. 640x480 @ 30 FPS. Fast download to PC through my iogear pocket drive.
- nice and fast!

It did speed up my picture taking for my Canon SD 550! very happy with this item.
- Better performance, delivered
     By A1VQCYJNMU9050 on 2007-06-04
SanDisk promises that the Extreme III SD card delivers enhanced performance, and they deliver. This card replaced an Ultra II SD Card of the same size, and the latency between shots on a Canon A710 IS when waiting for the camera to write the picture to the SD Card is much improved with the Extreme III over the Ultra II. The retail version that I purchased also comes bundled with some software (I haven't used the bundled software) and a handy padded case for SD Card cases. I highly recommend this product.
- Super SanDisk 1 GB Extreme III rocks
     By A16JVNE7GFPXJ1 on 2006-02-24
I bought this card as an adjunct to my Treo 650. Couldn't be happier with the purchase, the transaction, the shipping time (lightning fast) and the product. I highly recommend this card for Treo owners.
- very good
     By A2XHTRTZLGX38V on 2006-07-08
I have a Canon SD550, my first digital camera, and I just can say that memory card works quite good. As good as Canon Memory Card. I've taken about 400 photos in Mojave desert, 2 weeks ago, and no problems so far.
- A nice SD card!
     By A2T1R3TKKCWSAT on 2007-01-09
This is a very nice SD card! I use on my Cannon A620. It's fast. Much faster than my Sandisk card (received as a gift), a noticeable difference. Much less time between shots with a flash. I am very happy I purchased this card and will definitly order more when I need them.
- Very Fast!!
     By A1A7ZJQGJH4JP7 on 2007-01-12
I bought this card for my Nikon D80 and it is worth every penny! It is very fast which comes in very handy when taking high speed photos. This speed also comes in very handy when transferring your images to your computer. The only drawback to this card is the limited capacity. If you are going to use this type of card you may need to get several of them, or wait for SanDisk to come out with higher capacities, like 8 or 16GB.
- It works as expected
     By A1WCFLH5HMHZFU on 2007-01-24
A fast card which works as expected.
You don't know the difference a fast card can make, unless you swap to a slower one. Even a slower camera/device will have improved performance with a faster card such as this one.
Enjoy!
- Awesome!
     By A1ZLU571OBNNWA on 2007-03-25
If you have a digital camera I highly recommend this card. It writes super fast and I swear my picture quality has improved. It holds approx. 454 pics at 7.1 pixels. It is reasonably priced (especially with the rebate) and it has a lifetime warranty. It comes with recovery software and a nice little card holding case. I will be getting the 2 gb next...
- SanDisk 1 GB Extreme III SD Card
     By A2XTE9TL2RE6BW on 2007-03-27
A very fast SD Card, in almost any climate. SanDisk 1 GB Extreme III SD Card ( SDSDX3-1024-901, Retail Package)
Holds approximately 1 hr of video, 300 + JPeg Images. A very good buy for the money. The bigger
SanDisk Extreme III SD Cards are entering the market, and will make this your best purchase at 1 Gig, around Christmas 2007.
I also have the San Disk 2 GB Compact Flash card. SanDisk Extreme III - Flash memory card - 2 GB - CF
In digital photography; U Get What U Pay 4. You can not go wrong with this SD Card.
Also comes with Pro recovery disk for accidental removal of desired images, and a key chain carry case.
- Not as fast as I'd hoped
     By A66G347VX35WW on 2007-01-11
I was doubtless too optimistic. Replacing a standard speed SanDisk 1 GB SD chip in my Kyocera Finecam SL400R, I see no speedup of CCD transfer to this chip. And no speedup of USB transfer time either.
- Good, but not 'Extreme'
     By A3NJSSUYX4EJ22 on 2007-01-21
I bought this SD card when I purchased a new camera (Kodak P880) thinking it would make writing to the card faster. That's pretty much the only reason I choose it. It was a bad decision. I have another 1GB 32x 'regular' SD card from Lexar. They both write at the same speed. If I did it again, I wouldn't pay for the 'Extreme' hype.
- SanDisk 1 GB Extreme III SD Memory Card
     By A2OZH7SCP5C7C7 on 2007-02-03
This was a wise purchase. It greatly increased the performance of my Canon PowerShot A640. My next purchase will be the 2 GB Memory Card.
- Greatly Improved
     By A169FK1R648UON on 2007-09-20
This card works much faster in my Canon S3 and in my card reader. The additional storage size from my old 512 cards is nice, too. I am able to shoot faster in burst mode and formatting the card or erasing pictures is incredibly fast. I usually shoot in the largest file size and superfine setting. This card is quite fast. I have used the card in some fairly hot temperatures after the camera sat in my closed car. No failures yet! Overall, I wam quite happy with the Extreme III cards.
- Fast and Sweet
     By A3LMBQWFRP8PQI on 2008-01-04
I use this card in my Panasonic DMC TZ3A and have absolutely no complaints. I have taken fine quality photos and video with it in bright daylight, twilight and low light. No matter what I threw at it, it never broke a sweat. What a man! We're going out for drinks later. (heh heh)
- Fast
     By A3VIXVL7GFYIMK on 2008-02-09
This is the fastest SD cards I own. Faster than those claimed to be 133X or 150X.
- Great Write Speed
     By AWAN66CYNV8WR on 2008-03-18
The delay between camera clicks is minimal because of the fast write speed of this SD card. Highly recommend this for anyone wanting to take photos of in motion people / objects.

- TERRIFIC MEMORY CARD
     By A2P1KY0BK0MIRB on 2006-07-28
THIS CARD NOT ONLY STORES A LOT OF PHOTOS. IT ALSO ALLOWS YOU TO TAKE GREAT ACTION SHOTS. AWESOME SPEED!!!
- Secure Digital Memory being the operative words!
     By A2NOQQ6NPUP92G on 2006-11-10
I just returned from my once-in-a-lifetime trip to Nepal and India. Being a first-time digital camera user, I was nervous about taking pictures and saving them for later use. Doing exhaustive research, first on the camera, then on memory cards, I finally decided on my Canon Powershot IS3 and SanDisk's Extreme III SD Memory Card. And it did everything I hoped and now on my 2nd round of pictures, it is still working great. It did not exceed my expectations and was fairly expensive, but after reading all of the cautions about SD cards malfunctioning, I am very happy to have all of my 500 pictures and the card cost seems to be a type of insurance well paid.
