As the mother of twins, one hearing and one deaf, I have had the opportunity to check out many programs for teaching ASL to small children. This is by far the best series out there. Most other products are so boring that parents must struggle to stay awake during the production, and there is no way a toddler would tolerate a viewing. My 2-year-old twins request Signing Time all of the time. At home they want the DVDs playing almost constantly. In the car my hearing daughter starts asking for the Signing Time CD before I even have her strapped into her carseat. My 2-year-old deaf daughter is using 5-sign sentences, which is almost unheard of for the deaf child of hearing parents. My extended family owns a total of 6 sets of Signing Time. Whenever my daughters' cousins have a birthday they ask for the latest Signing Time DVDs. Children of all ages love this product.

This is a fun addition to our Signing Time collection. Kids of all ages are fascinated by the things they see outside and this DVD will fascinate them also! My children, ages 20 months - 5 1/2, love this volume and they are excited to "explore my great backyard!". I love the songs, and my kids can't get enough. They listen to the soundtrack daily!

We were introduced by our son's child care giver. He was 20 months old when he first started with signing time in Daycare. Ever since then he came home signing and singing the melody of the songs from the DVDs. When he started to speak all the alphabets and numbers and words from the books, me and my husband were surprised and happy. When he was two years old, he already knew all the colors, number 1-10 and A to Z in additon to a lot of vocabs. Until today, he watches signing time everyday and continue learning.
We think this is a great fun learning product and we love it!

Our school is currently using Signing Time in an after school program to introduce and teach American Sign Language to children ranging in grades K-6. Rachel does a good job of desribing and demonstating the signs. The music and songs create an enjoyable way to reinforce the new signs learned.

This is one of a series of "Signing Times" DVDs that teach sign language to kids in an uncomplicated, playful manner that is as much entertainment as educative. Our daughter is 3 years old and will often choose a Signing Time DVD to watch simply for the fun of it. We have five different disks from the series and you can't help but pick up some basic signs. Our daughter uses many of the signs every day to enhance her communication. She knows more of the signs than I do since she will watch them over and over and over. We started showing her these at age 2 years but I know of parents who have used them much earlier before their children had well developed verbal skills and found their kids able to make use of the basic signs. Its a great introduction to American Sign Language. This particular volume concentrates on the "Outdoors" and offers signs for animals and activities that kids will find appealing and may well encounter on camping trips. I recently saw one of these same DVDs broadcast on a public television station in North Carolina so it seems their appeal and quality is being recognized for programming purposes.
