  • Best Price, Works Great, Excelent Build Quality

    SEE UPDATES AT BOTTOM

These same cables can be found all over the internet under various brand names at prices ranging from nearly free (plus shipping) to at least $25. List prices are quoted anywhere from $25 to $70. Simply google for either POTHHDMIH2M1 or 410000100189. You will even find that you can buy them from Amazon for a variety of prices under different brand names.

They are reviewed as being great cables pretty much everywhere, although most reviews are simply quoting Amazon. In my opinion the cables look well built and quite sturdy. They work just fine with my Samsung Blu-ray BD-P1200 paired with my Samsung 1080p 46-inch LCD. Also work great with my DirecTV HD.

Seems to be no reason not to buy these cables! The question is from whom and for how much.

    So how to choose?

I like dealing with Amazon and I like dealing with Eforcity. Eforcity shipping has always been prompt and, once, when I decided to return something that I simply changed my mind about Eforcity took the return without any hassle. I did find that for these cables it was cheaper to buy via Amazon than directly from Eforcity!

    Another point:

I hear a lot of talk about "HDMI is digital so either it works or it doesn't -- therefore buy any HDMI cable you can find". I'm no expert but I don't buy that. There are other considerations, for example durability of the cable.

But I am thinking of electronic considerations. How about bandwidth (aka bitrate) -- how much data can be transferred at what rate? The newer high-definition sound and video formats demand fairly high bandwidth. How about the differences between HDMI versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 1.3? Some of the new versions specify higher data transfer rates. Can every HDMI cable handle the higher rates? I don't think so, especially since the newer HDMI specs are *very* new. To what version was a particular HDMI cable designed? How about error rates? Note that there are sophisticated tests used to verify that HDMI cables meet various specs.

Just because a cable works to your satisfaction with the DVDs (or Blu-rays or HD-DVDs or HDTV) available to you today doesn't mean they will work well with media available to you in the future. Few (if any?) current Blu-ray disks use the full capability of the Blu-ray format, for example color depth (24-bit, 48(?)-bit).

    All hard questions to answer.

I give this product 5 stars based on my experience, on apparent high-quality construction, on the source (Eforcity) and on almost universal approval everywhere I look. I do wish that the info Amazon gives for HDMI cables would answer some of the above questions. We might have a more objective way to evaluate these things!

    UPDATE1:

Since I wrote this review I have seen advertisements for 1.3-certified HDMI cables (the ones reviewed here do not make that claim). I have also found some companies selling HDMI cables that go into great detail on the differences between their high-end cables and their more moderately priced cables (examples: search for "blue jeans cable", "monoprice cables", "lenexpo cables" -- there are others).

I think one can learn a lot reading the (admittedly self-serving) write-ups on those web pages. You can then make a somewhat more informed decision on just what it is you are buying.

    UPDATE2:

I see now that Amazon gives the bitrate spec for this cable as 5 gigabit/second. This is about one half of the HDMI 1.3 spec. Here is a chart:

    Spec => ...... HDMI Pre-1.3 ... HDMI 1.3

    Bandwidth
    Mhz............ 165 ............ 340

    Equivalent
    Bit Rate....... 4.95 ........... 10.2
    Gigabit/sec

So these cables are good for most HDMI applications but may fall behind where any of the following are true

-- Your image is greater than 1920x1080p
-- Your refresh rate is greater than 60hz
-- You use the newer uncompressed, lossless audio

Now a 6ft/2m cable is likely to do better than its spec and it is likely this cable will perform OK in the above circumstances but there is no guarantee.

  • Great hdmi cable, eforcity brand

    By A1C2JQNNX8VUIR on 2007-02-26
I just got digital cable with hd and the hdmi cable that I got from Radio Shak was over forty. That cable was great but then when I saw the design of the Eforcity 2M HDMI cable it look exactly the same. What a great deal from this seller. The cable does not come with packaging so I guess thats how they keep the cost down, I suspect its the same manufactuer as all the store branded versions(ie, Staple, OficMax, etc..) When it comes down to it you can beat the price.

  • Great Deal, Great Product, Great Resolution

    By A2D1E1F0T3VU95 on 2007-03-03
I bought this cable for my girlfriend's parents. At first I was just surfing around and thinking, oh well, HDMI cable is just something either it works or it doesn't, so I just chose the one by Eforcity (because they have the best deal). It turns out hey ... surprisingly, it's resolution is even better than what my other friends got else where.
Thank you Eforcity. Great experience, and will definitely do business with you again.

  • Excellent product from an excellent retailer!

    By A83LYM2W66JFU on 2007-03-21
Just got this cable in to hook up my upconverting dvd player to my 50" Plasma and the picture quality is awsome. I am extreamly happy with the quality and price of this cable. It can't be beat. I almost spent alot more money at Bestbye. Also, like my past orders from this vendor, my order was shipped out within 24 hrs after order was place!

  • working great so far

    By A2XJIZ6ANNWGBS on 2007-03-20
I had a little trouble with the shipping. This was not the fault of the company at all, I had typed in the address incorrectly. They helped me correct the problem and was delivered the next day. The cable is working great so far. Didn't think it would be a real big difference ... Boy was I wrong. You can really notice the higher quality.

Bought these cables for the ps3 and the tv. Didn't want to spend an arm and leg for cables and this by far was a bargain relative to the other products out there. The resolution is better than my old overpriced wires and $4 is just a bargain. Save yourself the time and money and buy these.

  • Best cables on the web!

I've ordered one recently and these are by far the best cables i have for my HDTV!

  • Great product at a GREAT deal!!!!
    By A34Y21IQLYHZVF on 2007-03-20
I just tried out these cables cause I noticed they were the same ones that other companies were selling at a much higher price. I'm glad I went with them. Their great!!! I have to see what else Eforcity carries!!

  • Great Cable- Fast delivery
    By AZ41FGD39S0AV on 2007-03-20
I was so pleased by the difference this cable made. I bought another one from the same company cuz they shipped it out fast. Now i have two set ups at home, wonderful. ALso a bit cheaper then you would pay for elsewhere.

  • Good quality and fast shipping
    By A2XXXOTA5V9KV1 on 2007-03-23
HDMI is the way to go for HDTV and/or upconverting DVD players.

Caution: Plan ahead and buy the cable online for under $10 including shipping!!! I received mine in 3 days. There is NO DIFFERENCE in the picture and audio delivered by the $100 cable and the $10 cable!!!

  • Excellent cable - awesome price
    By A1WRMP6VMJJ7L7 on 2007-08-28
I purchased 3 of these cables recently because my family recently upgraded to a slew of high-definition products and we wanted to get the most out of them. I was initially a bit skeptical about a cable that cost less than a sandwich at a fast food joint, but honestly, I now feel sorry for anybody who doesn't get their cables for cheap prices.

These cables are fantastic! They come with removable plastic connection shields that keep stuff from getting into the cable connections in transit. They are good and flexible, and well-insulated. I have had absolutely no problems with them so far. I use them with a PS3, upconverting DVD player, and a Comcast cable box (Motorola HDMI type). I highly recommend these cables over the rip-off priced Monster cables, among other brands.

I will never again buy a cable at a big-box electronics store (Best Buy, I'm looking at you) because the price and quality of this cable more than justifies the slight shipping wait. Get this cable if you enjoy high quality, low price, and getting way more than what you paid for.

  • No issues with these cables.
    By A2J0D8EHQBF4KM on 2007-09-01
Run from a Scientific Atlanta cable box to an Onkyo receiver. Then I run a separate DVI-D cable from the Onkyo to a Sony Plasma without issue. I also run these from an Xbox 360 and from my PC. Great cables that work as well as the bigger more expensive names. Recommended!

  • I just love this hdmi cable...
    By A1K293QJGRZ86P on 2007-03-23
why spend $30 or $40 on the same hdmi cable in local store...
dude, you will love this hdmi cable too.

  • HDMI cables need not be expensive
    By AONDX4GIZA1VV on 2007-04-10
I purchased two HDMI cables from Eforcity, one between my cable box and TV, the other between my DVD and TV. Having spent thousands of dollars on my new HDTV I was initially concerned that inexpensive cables might lessen or degrade picture quality. After some research I learned that cables and in particular digital cables need not be exotic and high priced[...]The cable quality of the Eforcity's is more than adequate. Save yourself some money and avoid all the "high-end" cable manufacturer's hype.

  • Check the Shipping Cost
    By A33OE6UBT5WMRA on 2007-12-20
The cables are fine cables. I rated this particular offer as an "I don't like" because the shipping nearly doubles the price of the cables (shipping for me was per cable, not a flat fee for the order). So the great deal then becomes something you can find elsewhere if you are resourceful. Buyer beware.

  • Shipping RIP-OFF!!!
    By A1ZA0GIBAW99MX on 2008-05-05
My complaint isn't about the product itself. It's about the shipping. Amazon does not make it clear. When doing a search for TV cables to hook up my new flat screen to my new DVR/VCR recorder - I came across a great deal on these cables. @10 cents a piece, I ordered 2. Little did I know that I was going to be charged TEN dollars plus for shipping! Hey amazon, make the shipping charges clearer next time. This product, again not coming from you, doesn't give the shipper the right to rip off the public with unseen shipping charges! This is the 2nd item out of the 5 items that I purchased on my same order with you last, that has RIPPED ME OFF with hidden shipping charges - and I am not happy about this!!! I have written you an email about this but no response from you. What's up with this? The rest of your customers need to be aware of hidden shipping charges before purchasing an item. We, your customers, desever better!!!!!

  • More is not always less
    By A1GQS3Q3J8CS2N on 2007-08-23
There is no need to pay upwards of $100 (I have seen "PS3" HDMI for $99), for a quality cable you can get for $6 shipped. This is an incredible deal and a quality product. What people don't understand is that Digital is Digital, either you get it (the signal) or you don't. There is no fuzziness from a cable that transmits digitally, because that is not how it works. The worst you could get is tiling if there is a lot of interference around, which is NOT the case with this cable. I have mine intertwined between all kinds of cables with no problem. I am here to say that this IS the cable to get.

  • HDMI cable for a great price & same quality!
    By A3T92CYNHLWPSN on 2007-04-04
Bought my HDTV a few months ago and waited for a deal like this. Picture quality exactly the same as any my friends have. Best part, I paid 5 times less for this one!!!

  • Worth the price, but there is better.
    By AX7H4ZTOAKB00 on 2007-10-15
This HDMI cable is worth the essentially free price they charge. It does not have the large, cylindrical area that you find at both ends of most HDMI cables. I believe the function of this mechanism is to clean and filter data (I forget what the technical name is for that area on the cable, but you'll know what I'm talking about if you look at some images of other HDMI cables).
I found a cable for the same price that does have these filters. It also has a more shielded cable that somehow seems more substantial and of a higher quality. The link is below to a visual of the cable, but check around for various sellers here as there are many that carry it for various prices. I paid no more than a couple of dollars through Abacus24-7. HDMI 2M (6 Feet) Super High Resolution Cable

  • You can pay more for a HDMI cable...but...
    By A2FSKL00U94255 on 2007-12-28
You can also hit your hand with a hammer.

Both won't feel very good to you, unless you like disappointment and pain.

There is no disappointment or pain associated with these cables. This is my 2nd purchase and when I need cables, this is the source for INEXPENSIVE HIGH QUALITY CABLES (notice I did not use the word "cheap").

Get rid of those RGB component cables, if you have an HDMI connection and start seeing what you should see. These cables are going to save you BIG BUCKS and put a smile on your face.

As far as shipping, the cables arrived sooner than expected (2 days from the Midwest)with instant order recognition and e mail notification of shipping and tracking number.

You can buy from a big box store, pay big bucks, and sales tax that will be more than the shipping for this item, or you can shop here and smile.

    The choice is yours.

  • Great price... but where is the product?
    By A1057G210HWIWN on 2008-01-11
Ordered this over a week ago. Still sitting in some warehouse in CA per USPS tracking. They charge like $5 per item... the least they can do is deliver. I'll let you know how the cables are if they ever arrive.

  • Works perfectly...
    By AMJZVYUAR2QLD on 2007-07-16
Can't beat the price... the price at a retail store outside is about $30! Don't go for an expensive cable... digital signals are the same irrespective of the quality of the medium. Item arrived super fast in less than a week.

  • works just like those 100 dollar hdmi cables
    By ADA2ITS6BV0A4 on 2007-08-06
this cables are awesome the audio and picture quality its amazing just like those 100 dollar hdmi cables don't look more if you need hdmi cables for your ps3this cables good quality and cheap great product

  • Premium HDMI Cable
    By A1RCGK44YXNBBB on 2007-04-20

Product works just as great as $60 cable from Circuit City.

  • Excellent Quality... Best Price!
    By A331NHYUFO95X1 on 2007-09-09
I love it... simple and effective! Crisp picture & sound! Couldn't ask for a better cable.

  • Works great, no compromises.
    By A3K4GJTDW2FQM8 on 2007-09-20
I own a PS3 and a 40'' 1080p Sony Bravia TV. Was a bit worried that these cables were going to be sub-par because of the price, but because of it, decided I had nothing to lose. I'm glad I purchased this cable. Once I connected the devices, the PS3 immediately recognized the TV and it's 1080p resolution and adjusted accordingly. The resulting image was breathtaking as expected. Don't waste your money on more expensive cables, try these, you won't be dissapointed.

  • Why spend more?
    By A3VFK5WHPCVP07 on 2007-11-06
At this price, I ordered 3 extra cables just in case one didn't work. It was not necessary. The first three I used worked perfectly and I was able to replace a grocery sack full of wires with three small wires. By doing this I was able to get rid of a "bird's nest" of wires and really cleaned up behind the TV/sound system.
I can't say that HDMI cables work better than component connections, but they make the process much easier as well as an overall neater setup. I was getting ready to spend over $50 for each cable (over $150 for three) and thought a $3+ investment would at least be worth trying. I don't understand how any store can justify charging over $50 for a simple cable when one of these cables work perfectly.
Highly recommended and as an added bonus, the cables arrived in 2 days after ordering. One of my better purchases.
