  So far, this charger has worked fine. Just want to clarify, though:
  You don't need to order this separately, at least not if you order a Nuvi 350. The 350 comes with the car charger, AC charger, leather case, dash mount, and windshield mount. Don't order this unless you want two for some reason. Many of the accessories shown on the GPS unit product page are already included.

  This is the vehicle charger recommended on the amazon.com Garmin Nuvi 660 product page, but it is not the correct model for it.   You do not need to buy this charger for the Nuvi 660. The 660 comes with a charger that connects through the mount adaptor, not directly to the 660. This works on a Nuvi 660 to supply power, but it will not charge the battery.

  This accessory is part of the original package when you buy the Garmin Nuvi navigator. You also get the windshield mount, a leather envelope for the unit, and an AC charger. Don't buy any accessories at the time of purchasing the unit. I bought this knowing I wanted and needed it and ended up with two and had to pay for return postage when I returned it because it was "My Fault" I couldn't use it. You only need this if your original one wears out or if you want to have multiple vehicles completely equipped. The product itself is excellent and keeps the navigation unit power from being depleted while using in the car.

  Don't get me wrong, I think the cord is fantastic. Really helps to have this when I want to take my Nuvi in another car since mine is practically hard wired in my truck. So why the 3 stars? The price is absolutely absurd. This this is the same glorified cell phone charger that you can find on eBay for $5, but of course it being Garmin, they have to squeeze you for $30 and that I don't find to be a good value, but I needed it so thems the breaks...

  I purchased this item only because other reviews said it was necessary. The perceived problem was that the adapter included with the Nuvi 350 was not substantial and that it broke easily. In fact, this is the very same DC adapter that came with the unit. This accessory is not required.

  This adapter is actually better than the one that came with the GPS. Whereas the original adapter was somewhat flimsy; this one is more durable and the top does not come off in the power outlet. Great buy!!!
  
  
• Adapter works, but plastic tip is fragile

  I had this as it came with my nuvi 350. Worked fine for a few months and then one day the plastic tip broke off. Appears the heat stress got to it and it breaks very easily. Friend with an identical unit did the same thing.
  
  Fortunately mine was still under warranty and Garmin replaced it at no cost. The replacement appears to be MUCH better than original one. The tip is all metal now and not prone to breakage like the other one.

  When I purchased a Nuvi 760 this item was shown as frequently purchased with it. Unfortunately it is not compatable and cost me to return as it was my error. Power connections were not visable so how is a person to know if the adapter will work with the GPS? Guess you learn the hard way.

  The description of Garmin Nuvi 360 may not tell you, but it includes the car charger, as well as the UBS cable, and the wall-outlet charger. It also includes the mount for installing the Garmin in the car. Do not purchase what you don't need. Amazon will make you pay the postage to return it even though their description didn't tell you what was included in purchasing the Garmin.

  Although my Garmin Nuvi 360 came with the vehicle power cable, I purchased this to keep in my second car. Now, I don't have to remember to take the cable from vehicle to vehicle. I find the extra cord to be a great convenience.

• Kind of Works, but loses connection often

  This is the second DC Adapter I've purchased from Amazon. I had to return the first one because it didn't fit well into a number of DC power plugs in my vehichles and would not keep a constant source of power to my Garmin GPS unit. The second adpater was a replacement and it does not work much better. It seems like the plug is just slightly smaller than what it should be to create a snug / constant fit when plugged in. Tried in multiple vehicles (3) so I don't think its my cars causing the problem. Will have to live with the connection losing power at times I guess (frustrating).

  This DC charger for the Garmin Nuvi units is good to have. You can charge the Nuvi by plugging in the USB to your computer and it will last about 2 hours, but for long trips, the charger is a must. It is a little pricey.

  On the pricey side, but it works. I have a universal charger that fits in my Nuvi, but the Nuvi will not charge. I wish I could use it instead to minimize the number of cables I have to bring along when traveling.

  Works. The only problem is the research I had to do to see if this was the right one for Street Pilot I5 Garmin. Not listed on specs because Garmin has discontinued the "street Pilot name." But I ordered 2, one for each car. Good to have back-up, because I couldn't find compatible plug in any local electronic stores.

• A Tip for Owners/Users of Garmin nuvi Devices

  This excellent Garmin Vehicle DC Power Adapter for Nuvi (010-10723-06) is similar to that which comes with the Garmin Nuvi 250W and, I presume, some other nuvi models, even possibly other Garmin GPS devices as well. It may also work with some other products, any, in fact, which use a mini-USB socket as the power-supply port.
  
  As has been noted here, though it is very well made, it is quite expensive for what it is. However, if you need an extra cable or your original one has been lost or damaged, this is a good additional one/replacement.
  
  But here is the real reason for this review - the tip promised in the title: do NOT buy an AC Adapter for your device; go to PartsExpresscom and enter < AC Travel Charger with 12V Accessory Outlet > in their search box. You will find an item which, for just $6.98, allows this DC cable to be used via any AC outlet. This AC travel charger will work with ANY DC cable which powers similar low-current drawing devices.
  
  The combination is much less expensive than a DC cable plus an AC Adapter.

  This is not the most sturdy implement, but one that is quite necessary. The one that came with my unit burned out within 3 months and stopped working, forcing me to purchase a replacement. I move between cars quite frequently, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
  
  
• A must have for an aftermarket Nuvi cradle mount

  If you own a Nuvi 6xx series GPS (Probably other higher end Nuvi GPS models also.), this charger is a must have if you are using it in conjunction with an aftermarket cradle such as the RAM-Mount brand. (Generally used for motorcycles) You must use the mini-USB port on the side of the Nuvi because the aftermarket cradles DO NOT HAVE a backside charge port built in like the original cradle. I had no luck using a regular mini-USB cord plugged into a "cigarette lighter to USB adapter" either. If you try this, most likely, the Nuvi will be tricked into thinking it's connected to a computer, which in turn makes the Nuvi display the PC-link splash screen endlessly until you unplug the standard USB cord from the Nuvi. In other words, if you want to power the Nuvi via the mini-USB port, you need to use this specific charger.
  
  Overall, I think this charger is nicely made. The cord is pretty thick, and the main charger body feels solid. The charger tip on the cigarette socket side uses a metal ring instead of a plastic ring that many other cheap chargers have. And the mini-USB tip housing also feels very solid and well made to me.
  
  As a side note, I noticed that almost all the reviews rated at 2 or 1 stars, the reviewer(s) complained that either it's not compatible with the Nuvi 6xx, or not as advertised. (Meaning it won't fit the original cradle that comes with the higher end Nuvi's.) Well, that is their own fault for not looking closely at the description. Even the tip of this charger looks different than what came shipped with their Nuvi. So don't rate a good product poorly due to your own ignorance. That's all I'm saying.

  Amazon advertised this product with the garmin nuvi in such a way that the you are led to believe you must have this power cable to operate your Garmin Nuvi in your car. Wrong. Nuvi comes with this adapter and you really dont need the extra one. Shame on amazon.com for misleading advertising.

  Amazon cleverly displays this item on the same page as the GPS I purchased and (due to an oversight, I'm sure!!!) neglects to mention the GPS already comes with a charger.
  
  So, they soaked me for another $20, realizing I wouldn't go to the time-and-expense of returning it.

  I'm sure this product is a great replacement car charger. When I purchased my Garmin Nuvi I looked at what was included in the Nuvi and didn't not see the car charger listed so I purchased this item. When I opened the box, I found it came with a car charger. It was late at night when I ordered my Garmin so I should have known a car charger would have been included. Live and learn. I love my Nuvi 360! Sent back the extra charger.
  
  Three stars because I don't think it was clear on the Garmin Nuvi that it came was a car charger.

  Product works well except when it gets real cold. It will let go of the windshield when it is below 40 degrees. It will go back on again, it's just a pain to get it to stay.
