Heavy but it sure is bright! By A3GTHBGPYBTB1J on 2007-04-25
In my opinion, this is the king of spotlights! 20M candle power! I didn't believe it when I read it, but I had to buy it anyways just to be sure and after using this spot light, I believe it now!
I use a spotlight on my ranch mainly during calving season, where you have to drive around in the fields checking the cows at all hours of the night.
I have used these spotlights in the past: Vector 3-Million Candlepower Mega Sport Rechargeable Spot Light #VEC139Y and you can get decent light out of them, but the trigger button has failed on all three of them I have owned, so it was time to try a new one.
The durability of this unit is better than the Vector and I have had no problems with it yet.
There is one thing to note here... the Vector is heavy at 7 lbs - you might not think it's that heavy until you have to hold it out the window of the truck for a while - but this 20 million candle power beast sets the record - coming in a 11.6 lbs - WOW! If nothing else, you will get buff holding this bad boy for any period of time.
This baby can put out the light... this is the first spot light I have used where I can stand on the deck of the house and spot the cows in the fields at over 1000 yards away and see them clearly.
Recharging time is no more or less than other products in this class of spotlights that I have used.
One note of caution - be careful with this monster, I am sure you can fry eyeballs with it if you are not careful.
Has an LED light built into the handle By AG8H5G7HG8AKT on 2007-06-20
You can actually see the LED flashlight in the picture of the product, but (as of this writing) Amazon hasn't included this extra feature in the product description. That's a shame. For changing a tire, providing light inside a tent or during a power outage, even walking down a trail in the woods, it supplies plenty of light and it will run for up to 10 days on a single charge. It's a great extra option to have.
A few other things this light has that my last spotlight didn't:
* LED "charge status" lights so you can easily monitor how much battery power you have left.
* A built in "angle stand" so you can shine the light where you need it.
* ON/OFF switches, instead of a "trigger switch" --In other words, you don't have to continue squeezing a trigger to provide light, you simply flip a switch and the light stays on until you turn it off.
Also, the overall "feel" of quality is high. It's big, rugged, and appears well built. So far so good.
The brightest spotlight I've ever seen By A30CJJ57SLV9KG on 2007-06-26
While nowhere on the box or instruction sheet does the name Black and Decker appear, the unit is obviously of superior quality, and unlike many of its brethren, it holds its charge well. I bought the unit to acquire a spotlight that would provide genuinely strong illumination. It exceeds my greatest expectations in that the beam is incredibly bright and can cast light visible a mile away. I showed it to two police officers in our area who commented that the unit is far brighter than anything at their disposal. They were profoundly astounded at its performance, as was I the first time I turned it on. MORE: Added 1/7/08. Had need of the unit many months after its purchase...and discovered it had fully held its charge. I couldn't believe it. I still can't believe it. It was last charged in July 2007! ASTOUNDING. Lesser spotlights purchased previously lost their charges rapidly. MORE: Added 3/20/08. Hadn't been used since Jan.'08 but needed it the other night. STILL charged.
Had both "headlights" on--full blast--for 30 min. before it dimmed. The charge held from July '07 till March '08! Really ASTOUNDING.
Most powerful light on you will find By A1A2JY585I84ED on 2007-05-07
Wow! When you turn this spotlight on, it is incredible!
Keep in mind, though, the reason it is so powerful is dual headlights, so to speak. Two side by side lamps will always be more powerful. But, that ends up as a feature to go to one lamp to save power.
You will also like the car lighter output socket, which allows external devices to be powered. Works well for camping trips.
Not As Advertised By A3UT85NCSUPZCC on 2007-09-10
I like strong spotlights. I purchased the 20 million candlepower Vector expecting great things. I was very disappointed to see the beam was nowhere as bright as my 10 million candlepower spotlight. When I complained to the manufacturer, they replied that "brightness was a matter of personal oppinion." What a stupid response. That is akin to saying that a 100 watt light bulb is no brighter than a 50 watt light bulb. Careful of this product, you will be disappointed.
- Better than expected
     By A1AWS2RY7AU3Q7 on 2008-03-29
Best of the best. I needed to replace one of those 1 million candle power rechargeable flashlights that I keep in my motorhome. I didn't want another low quality, low performance units, so I did some research and found this one. I ordered it, expecting something a step above the typical purchase, and what I received was a unit with a commercial feel, glass lens and truly usable features such as the 12V outlet and LED aux flashlight. For the initial charge (when new) it is strongly suggested that the unit be charged for a specified 35 hours. Charging indicators on the unit illuminated as follows: 1 red LED, then 2 LEDs followed by a blinking green LED when fully charged. I tried out the unit in my very wooded land and the light output was unsurpassed. Regardless of how much we cycled the unit, it did not seem to dull. I'm impressed with the unit and would highly recommend it for those who have a need for ridiculously bright portable lighting. If you buy one, don't get anxious and try it out until you do the initial 35 hr charge. This is the key to battery longevity and performance.
- Fishers & Foxes & Coyotes, Oh My! Now, I can see what's lurking out there...
     By A3LDYUGV9CW17W on 2007-10-19
I needed something bright and strong enough to clearly show what's out in the bushes and what's up in the trees. (Fishers climb trees.) I live in a spot that's not extremely rural, but every now and then a stray wild animal comes around, and it's dark, here. At night, it can be hard to know if it's just the neighbor's cat or something potentially more threatening, if you can hear the rustling of the leaves and grass but not see what's there.
I am very happy with this light, and I've used it going between house and car several times in the dark. (So far, so good -- not too much to see!) I like that there's the lower-powered 'normal' light, too, above the floodlights, so that if I just need that, I've got it.
Yes, this light is a bit heavy, but, then again, it's got some power behind it. And, it's not awkard to move around or use. the attachable strap can help, for one thing.
- These would be useful for a Hollywood movie premiere
     By A2R8CKV5ENL7MX on 2007-12-17
Wow these are bright!!!!!! In fact, if you aim straight up it'll light up the skies like spotlights used at Hollywood premieres! But they are far more effective when you aim straight ahead, as you can clearly see about 500 feet as if it were daylight.
This spotlight is a two-headed design with two bulbs. It's similar as the headlights on a car except it's brighter and lights up farther. You can choose to use only one bulb, as there are two switches (one for each bulb). No reason to use both actually, as one is as bright as two. It's just barely noticeable really. Also using only one should prolong the charge and also bulb life.
And contrary to other reviews, these are not heavy at all, weighing only 9 pounds (weighed on my electronic scale). I can even pick it up with my pinky and hold it for a few minutes. So others are exaggerating about how heavy it is. When I first picked it up, it felt as light as a feather.
I was dissapointed that previous reviews didn't include how long the charge lasts but unfortunately I don't know either because I've had it on for no longer than 20 minutes. It takes 8 hours to fully recharge. There are 3 lights on the handle to indicate how much charge is left. Unfortunately they only light up when you plug it in so you don't know how much charge is left while using it. It requires 30-35 hours of initial charge out of the box.
It also has a small 3-bulbed utility light built in to its handle. It luminates white light (like HID in luxury cars) and supposedly will stay on for 250 hours on a single charge. But I haven't really tested it to see if true. The light is about as bright as a small pocket flashlight though. It's enough to use while changing a tire or reading a book. As long as it's not over 5 feet away.
I actually ended up buying two of these, but not from Amazon. I found them at another online retailer for under $30. Don't know if I'm permitted to say where but their initials are H.A.
This is the BEST and BRIGHTEST spotlight anyone would ever need. I recommend it 100%.
- OK - Needs better AC charger
     By A3M43B0GOEGUI3 on 2008-02-08
The unit works as described and is probably worth the cost. Unit seems to be of regular duty but I would not want to drop it as the replaceable battery makes the unit heavy. Unit is much larger than I expected, check the dimensions to assure they meet your needs.
Has two bulbs similar to car headlights and has a switch for each so you can use either or both. Also has about four white LEDs that will light a small inside area. (you could read a book with the unit 12" away)
I am disapointed at the instructions about charging the battery first time as they say the GREEN light will come on when fully charged. There are 3 charging lights on the unit and when I first started to charge two of them came on when I pluged the charger in. The green light started to flash about 32 hours later and never was fully on, even after 40 hours of charging. (not recommended)
I used the unit the next day with only one light on for about 25 minutes and it then required another 27 hours of charging to get the green light to start flashing slowly again. (The battery is a standard 7AH 12V sealed lead acid battery that is available at most auto shops, A decent charger could reduce this charge time drastically even though not recommended.)
I did not use the unit until the battery ran down completely and it was still very bright after 25 minutes of use with one light on. Have tried both lights briefly but did not seem that much brighter inside. The four white LED's would probably run for days if not weeks before the battery ran down.
Have not tried the unit on DC from my truck and would not even recommend the unit for that type of application. It might work great with an AC power supply that could provide 12V DC 30amps when using Both lamps.
In Summary, It is Big and Heavy, Long Charging times, Provides Bright light inside a dark area, Three choices of brightness, Great portable light source but time dependent, replaceable lamps and battery, fairly robust in construction, Worth $80 price tag if it meets your application.
All-in-All I do like the unit so far. I may like it better after I understand the internal battery charging better. That flashing green light is starting to suck as I have charged it for several more hours than they suggest and it still just flashes slowly. Perhaps it is just the instructions that are not correct.
'Amazon, how about providing your Customers with some more info/specs on this as this will be the major gripe, beside the free shipping...'
- high power
     By A143PVE3FK5JE2 on 2007-10-18
This is the light you want for super bright light and long distance viewing. I scare off the coyotes with just a flash of this baby. The charge lasts much longer than I expected it to also. Just be warned... it is heavy
- Amazing Output!!! Flashlight Junkies Dream come true!!
     By A2P8JAGEYL18GF on 2008-02-06
Pros
This thing puts out an ungodly amount of light.
Cons
Its big
Its heavy
It takes a long time to charge.
the switches are not convenient( but I see why they designed it that way.)
The Throw pattern is a little uneven.
The pro outweighs the cons. Buy this light if you want the the brightest light on the block.
- meh.....its ok, but i've seen better.
     By A2HTSBOLPVMCAH on 2008-03-01
this light only goes for about 20 minutes or a bit less actually on a full charge before it starts to dull out, I've got a vector one that goes for about an hour and 15 minutes before it starts to dull out, but then again the price is much different, the B&D is $80 and the Vector was $100 but was still 20 million candlepower. if its brandname, go with B&D, if its duration, go with vector, either way both lights are made by the same factory just different investors.

great product alltho its a bit bulky and heavy to carry around for more than a few minutes.
- Brightest Flashlight in the World for under $70
     By A2RDKVWOSPT3U2 on 2007-09-01
I bought several trying to find the best. I'm a fanatic. For example, I bought one from another company that claims theirs is the brightest in the world. It was only a third as bright as the Vector VEC192. There is another company that sells one for over $1000 that has about the same lumens as this one. For that price, you could buy the Vector for a dozen of your friends & family. Turn on the dozen Vectors and you'll have 39,600 lumens compared to their 3400.
I'm very tempted to give it 5 stars, but the battery only lasts 25 minutes at full power, so I give it a 4.
- Not Impressed
     By A2OKTNVJB0QBA on 2007-11-01
Product appeared to have been used out of the box... and the housing was cracked. The light output was all over the place and no direct beam. That I did not care for. Extremely heavy and bulky. If you like carrying around an automobile light with the housing then this light will please you. Although, if you prefer exact lumen output, then you will be disappointed with this.
- Awesome Light!
     By A3LJBZJQC08XOA on 2008-02-18
I purchased this spotlight to do some coyote hunting. It's initial charge took a day and a half. I would think that it should get more than 25 minutes of run-time with both beams on. The thumb push-button to turn on the small flashlight, when it is 20 degrees outside, is VERY difficult to push. Those are my only "minor" negativities. I ordered an additional lens from the factory, so I could use a red permanent marker to color the lens. It worked very well! Overall, satisfied with my purchase.
- Great Light But several issues!
     By A14YSKDK8BJAN4 on 2008-03-31
I brought this light and took it overseas. The charging takes forever? Camon for 20 to 30 minutes of light? It takes forever to charge this light. If you're overseas you don't have the luxury of the USA power grid. Power goes out frequently. Also it seems even after 20 to 30 hours of charge the charge is never full. Also when you add a 220v to 120v transformer it seems like the light is not charging. You guys made an excellent light but make it adaptable worldwide! It will be a great success because the light is great!
- Big AZ light
     By A155N97QNFLNKN on 2008-06-26
So far so good. Tonnes of light if you only need it for a short period of time (i.e up to 30 minutes.)
LED are almost useless but provide some light. They are the equivalent to having the dollar store LED's on your keychain.
Second bulb on this flashlight doesnt add much more light, it's almost not noticeable.
I like it overall.
Cheers.

- Is this a Black and Decker product?
     By AWJINQU3EO7HO on 2008-07-01
If the Black and Decker 20 Million Power Series 3335 Lumens Spotlight is a Black and Decker product, why can't you find it on the Black and Decker site??
- D/C Outlet a lifesaver
     By A1ZO7MFWSOJEOL on 2008-09-17
This is an excellent product with many fail safe features during a power outage or camping. Run time with both hi intensity lamps is about 15-20 minutes with a visibility length of several football fields illuminated. If you run the battery down during a night hike the 3 LED lamps in the handle will get you home safely. You may also run D/C items off the lighter plug in the handle such as a small TV or power inverter in case of an outage of power in your home. Very durable chassis and replaceable rechargeable 6 volt sealed cell batteries.

- A misleading advertisement
     By A22MIYGH523EKJ on 2008-09-05
This afternoon I have just received the three items of the Black and Decker 20 million power but to my surprise they all were Vector 20 million power not the Black and Decker spotlight.
After doing some researches, I believe that Amazon.com put the incorrect information concerning the spotlight. Please replace immediately your advertisement before someone makes a wrong order in the future.
- Great Light
     By AXRXWV28NA6CB on 2008-10-14
This is a great light. It is a little heavy and bulky compared to the 3 million candle power one by the same company which I am replacing rather than buy new batteries at almost 75% of the cost of the light. It really shines and the little light is nice also. The switches are better than the other light because they stay on, but the cover over them is going to have to go. Overall this is a great product at a reasonable price.
- Horrible flashlight
     By A24WJULX7UOLFB on 2008-10-18
Oh my god. This is the worst flashlight I've ever owned. Making it worse, its the most expensive one too. This damn thing cost me about $70, and it works like crap. It is extremely large and heavy, and the pictures here don't really convey just how big and heavy this flashlight is. Unless you want a workout out you are not going to be holding or carrying this around for very long.
This thing takes forever to charge and on top of that it loses its charge even when not in use. Even on a full charge this damn thing only lasted about 20 minutes, losing half or more of its brightness in the first 5 to 10 minutes before going completely dead. The buttons are difficult to push and this thing is extremely cumbersome to handle. The worst part is I didn't even find it to be bright when fully charged.
- Not a Black and Decker
     By A2Z6H2WTI4CTG3 on 2008-10-20
First things first: This is NOT a Black and Decker product. The brand is Vector. Vector is what is says on the box, and on the warranty card. The fact that Black and Decker has purchased the Vector company does not change any of this. However, the review should reflect the item, not Amazon's description of the product, so I will not subtract any stars for the false advertising by Amazon.
The only spotlight in this class I can compare with, is Cyclops 15 million candle power. Compared to Cyclops the Vector is outstanding. The light beams are much more focused and therefore the range is much better. I'd say the range is very impressive. Vector is also more robust and more comapct. I partically like the option of using one OR two spotlight, which will save on the battery. There is also a 12V outlet port on the light, which could be used for charging cell phones etc. In addition you got the "emergency LED" on the handle.
Charging is where this fellow has its downside. Initial charge is suppose to be 36 hours and then the green diod is suppose to come on. This never happened on my light. If the battery is fully charged or not, I do not know. Also the charging time could be better. Charging 36 hours for perhaps half an hour of light is a bit over the top. The cyclops loading time is just 12-14 hours.
Overall, it is a very impressive spotlight with a centered focused beam, which gives it a long range. There are flexibility in the two main switches, LED and 12V charger. Unfortunately charging time is way too long and running time with both lights on are not very impressive.
