    (18 reviews)
Best Price: $19.00 $13.50
The Apple Mini-DVI to DVI adapter is designed for use with the iMac (Intel Core Duo), MacBook, and 12-inch PowerBook G4. Connect the adapter to the Mini-DVI port of the computer and the DVI end of the adapter to an external DVI monitor or projector. You can also use it in combination with the optional Apple DVI to ADC Adapter to connect your computer to an older display with an ADC connector. You can use this cable in both video mirroring and extended desktop modes.

Works fine but only for DVI-D By A21N8QLMXPNDHI on 2007-02-08
The converter is esssential for anyone who needs to use a second monitor for their imac. In my case, the imac is driving a 1080p HD display, and the video card does a fine job of running both simultaneously. The adapter plugs into the proprietary adapter on the back of the imac. Although technically not a review of the adapter, a larger question is why there couldn't be a standard DVI plug in the first place. The adpter plugs in without a satisfying click or other mechanical prop to help keep it anchored, and whether this is a feature or a bug, it comes out quite easily.
Much has been made in other forums of the fact that the flavor of the connection is DVI-D, lacking the extra 4 pins to make an analog connection, but once you are aware of the limitation it doesn't make much difference. Most modern displays (NOT CRTs) can handle the digital interface. But if you are connecting the female end of the adapter to a DVI-I male connector, it wont fit, lacking both the four pin holes around the ground and supporting a narrower flat ground pin than the DVI-I connector.
Make sure you get the right cable! By A1IAKZKQBMTL9U on 2007-12-19
This is a great product and is the best choice for connecting your MacBook or iMac to a digital screen. As other reviewers have stated, be careful which DVI cable you are getting. If you are connecting to an HDmi port, I recommend this cable: Cables Unlimited, HDmi To Dvi-d Cable, 6ft. I currently use both to connect my MacBook to my 46" 1080p TV and the quality retention of the digital signal is truly striking. Try Apple's QuickTime HD trailers if you're looking for a demo of the great picture quality. My only complaint is the relatively high price, but then again, there isn't anything else out there that fits the specifications. Remember, make sure the cable you're attaching is DVI-d and you'll save yourself some headache.
Works Great for DVI, and only DVI By A57IF495M13WX on 2007-07-19
I thought that I would be clever and get the DVI adapter for DVI output, and also analog VGA, by using a DVI to VGA adapter. No dice. The Apple DVI adapter won't let you do that. I should have done more research, but it was cheap, and it works fine for DVI applications.
Item Fine, Available Direct By A18GTN5ZU74AHF on 2008-02-15
FYI, as of this writing, you can get this directly from Apple for $19.00 + $4 S&H. A better deal than shown here.
Oh, and you'll probably need another cord for any practical use. I hooked it up w/ this Eforcity Black 2 Meter HDMI Male to DVI Male Cable and now can use my HDTV as a 2nd monitor. Very cool.
Don't know why Apple doesn't just build in a regular DVI output or include this adapter. (Maybe to make more money?)
Does what it's suppose to. By AM0VGWW8C4QQZ on 2007-01-15

- Apple M9321G/B Mini-DVI to DVI
     By ALT28XIDNL00H on 2008-01-02
This cable only provides Digital DVI and not Analog.
It should provide both.
The problem arises if one did not purchase a DVI-Digital ONLY cable, it will not plug in. Good thing a reviewer provided a picture of the DVI plug showing it will not accept a DVI (digital and analog) plug.
- This should come with your computer!
     By A1EU0RD4GNO1UG on 2007-09-03
The adapter works wonderfully. I could not give it 5 stars because I shouldn't have to buy it separate from my computer. Apple should stick with the standards so they don't alienate people who don't have unlimited piles of cash around to buy silly adapters that are unnecessary.
- Good product, a little awkward size though.
     By A12GDN4IQRINSQ on 2007-12-12
The cable works perfectly for my 13" Macbook on the Mini-DVI port, the only hindrance is the length of the adapter. It's only about 6" long and my Macbook sits on the far left side of my desk so it hangs over the edge of the desk without resting on anything. It doesn't fall out though, but if they made it just a bit longer, it could bend around behind the laptop and rest on the desk so there's no strain on the Mini-DVI port.
- Good working adapter,but...
     By A35G1OFTX7BZXD on 2007-12-26
This Mini DVI to DVI adpater works well. It was purchased to connect my MacBook to a 23" Cinema Display. My only wish is that the adapter could be slightly longer. Otherwise works great.

- A Must Have for MacBook Owners
     By A290YNVKLZXXMU on 2008-03-31
This adapter is a must have for any macbook owner. I use my macbook as a desktop system with a 20" lcd, wireless keyboard & mouse etc, around 90% of the time...the other 10% I just grab the macbook and go in the field to use it during consultations.
It would be wise to also purchase the DVI to VGA adapter as well if your a road warrior. Having it in your laptop case is really great when you need to connect to a large display on-site, or even better when you need to plug into a projection system. Another reason is if your lcd goes out, you can always plug into a vga only monitor or LCD and not lose downtime.
In conclusion, again, I would buy both the DVI to mini DVI and the DVI to VGA connectors. Both are manufactured by the same company and very durable, nicely designed products.
- Great item-use it with my new tv/ computer
     By A33Y2FR70H18RY on 2007-08-31
Item arrived very quick! I started using it immediately. I connect a HDTV to my Imac computer to extend the monitor. Great for my photo editing and lay out programs.
- Expensive, but it works
     By ATQ9X7AO9OETJ on 2007-09-16
I need an adapter to connect my monitor to my mac. The adapter could be longer, especially after spending $30 on the adapter. If you can find another non-apple adapter I would purchase it. The adapter works great though.
- 24" imac connection TO external display
     By AZB68CM5EPGDA on 2008-03-08
This will connect iMacs' SCREEN DISPLAY ONLY from iMac to t.v. or external monitor. NOT AUDIO. First of three items needed.
1) THIS ITEM from iMac mini dvi port connected to........
2) IOGEAR GOLD-PLATED HDMI (F) to DVI-D DUAL LINK (M) ADAPTER (GHDMIFDVIM) . connected to.......
3) An HDMI TO HDMI cable. (This series of connections assumes that your t.v. or . external display you are trying to link HAS a HDMI input connection available)
4) Now to your external t.v. or monitors' HDMI connection
- Does what it's supposed to, but a bit short
     By A259I6TGXBKS1Q on 2008-05-26
This product works fine and does exactly what it's supposed to do---connects my Macbook to an external display. My only beef is that they could have made it full length so that you wouldn't need to use another another DVI cord with it.
