iDog, the little dog with the big sound. iDog rocks to your music. When you plug it in, it plays your music too. With a built-in speaker, a distinct array of moods and a personality that changes with the music you "give" it, iDog is a faithful music companion. The included dual connector cable plugs into most music player so you can play tunes through iDog. Listen to your music through your headphones while iDog rocks out or simply place it near a speaker and watch iDog move and groove to the beat. Flashing LED lights change color depending on the type of music you play. Changing light patterns respond to your touch or the amount of music to express moods ranging from loneliness to pure pup ecstasy. Compatible with most portable and non-portable music players. • Super gift item

I gave my grand-daughter one for her birthday this October and she absolutely loves it. She said it's the best thing she's ever gotten. Only one glitch. She's a cat lover and would have preferred an i-cat but they're not out yet. Maybe for Christmas!

  • CUTE! CUTE! CUTE!

My idog is here dancing to the music of my little brother's ipod! I am 11 and I got Princess (her name) yesterday she is so cute and loves pop music! She says that I give her too much love and attention by the signs when i push her nose twice! Girls will love this and guys who love music but dont want a very large speaker this is perfect for them! I also reccomend all the accessories! Oh gotta go Princess is hungry!

  • So CuTe!

    By A20XIZJS68PW2R on 2006-09-12
I Love it, its so cute it dances and barks and everything it really deserves a 4.5 rating because the volume is too low, not really really low but it's lower than the iFish, but other than that is PERFECT!!!
    i reallly recoomend it

  • Somewhat disappointing

    By A3E2L4EOWRX7GV on 2006-10-26
The iDOG did not quite live up to my expectations. The speaker is somewhat tinny sounding and the barking is quite annoying. However, it does do the job and is useful. It travels well and is a good on the go speaker. But I would recommend splurging for a more expensive speaker if you want quality. I would recommend this product for children and early teens. But definately not adults.

  • Beware!

    By ATGVMSDIFV61A on 2006-12-28
I bought this dog for my daughter for christmas. she tried it in her 2nd generation nano and it froze up immediately and then went dead. we had to return her nano and get a new one which luckily we had just bought and could still return it. I know when new ipods come out they often have compatibility issues with some products and this was definitely one of them. I wanted to make sure people know there is a chance they may ruin their ipod and use caution if purchasing this dog for use with 2nd generation nanos...

First of all, I have always wanted an iDog because of the awsome adds and comercials. I never got one though, because of the pathetic price, ([...] bucks for a little speaker that you have to turn your iPod up really loud to even here it?) I used to really want one, but then I just forgot about them.

For christmas, my grandpa gave my a pink iDog, (yay!) I was excited, I tossed in the batteries, and started it. First of all, the speaker quality was terrible. I had to turn my iPod as high as the volume could go, and I could just here a tiny bit of the music. The motors for the moving "ears" were way to loud, so you STILL couldn't really here the music. It was ok at first, because it was cute and all.

I played it for a few hours, listening to every single song on my iPod. By then, my grandparents and other reletives had left. Then came the worst part.

I couldn't turn it off. The instructions say to hold down its nose, but it didn't work. I kept trying for another 15 minutes, until it finally turned off.

Now, it turns on for no reason repeatedly per day. When I try to turn it off, it won't stop crying. This thing is so anoying. When I walk downstairs to eat breakfast early in the morning, when I am far away from the iDog, it just adomaticly turns on. And no, our house is brand new, and there are no ghosts in it.

  • Great product, recommend!
    By A1QOVHGJITC8J0 on 2007-04-01
This is our second I-Dog. They are wonderful portable speakers, are really stable on any surface, since they have rubber feet. An ideal companion of a kid's i-Pod or MP3 player. 2AAs last forever and the sound is fairly loud without being overbearing, so the kid's music doesn't annoy parents too much. I do recall telling my kids to turn it down a couple of times. They never break and can be taken anywhere. They have dog sounds and moves so kids love them. You can't ask for a better speaker, that is also a toy and a friend.

  • Very cool techno girly toy
    By A2Z9PTGSSYRB62 on 2007-03-08
I bought this for my 7-year-old niece who is quite the little diva! She really liked it and even my son got a kick out of it. I was afraid it wouldn't work very well, but it moves around and lights up to the beat and they are just mesmerized by it.

  • Overpriced showpiece for your glass shelf
    By AZZ4Q26K6X3UC on 2007-02-08
I was impressed by the pics and bought it for 30$. Its expensive, made in china stuff. Its not a toy. Its a small speaker with a fancy body but useless. I was under the impression that the idog will make some dancing moves with the rythm of music, so that my baby will love it. Its actually equivalent to flashing LEDs and thats why I feel its overpriced. So my dog is lying in the glass shelf. No use of it for me. It reminds me how stupid I can be in buying useless items.

  • Colorful and Cute
    By on 2006-12-31
The idog is a cute and colorful, but probably isn't worth the money. I really like mine, but don't use it very much. I would be in my room reading, and my MP3 player would be hooked up to my idog playing my music. My MP3 broke, and I got a cell phone/MP3 to replace it. Obviously the phone has its own built in speakers, and so I don't need to hook it up to my idog or other speakers to listen to the music anymore. I used to always have to use my idog to listen to music, but now I just press the ok button, and my music plays. My point is, unless you are looking for some speakers, the idog is for the most part useless. Although you can turn him on and put him close to some other music that is playing, the movement of his head makes a noise, and it isn't that pleasant if the music is playing quietly. The speakers are good on the idog, and the lights work, so if you are looking for a cute, colorful, pricy speaker, go for it!

  • Bad dog
    By A1972J1B1XGRHS on 2007-07-20
Well, this little fella certainly does love music. In fact, I barely got him out of the box before he began obsessively organizing my record collection by genre, subgenre, year of issue, and suitability for mix-tape inclusion.

However, hindsight being 20/20, I wish I'd spent the few extra bucks to get him the optional headphones. This little guy has an unaccountable taste for Joy Division, C & C Music Factory, and the Smiths. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but frankly I'm wishing he'd mix it up a little.

Also, housebreaking is a real chore. The only thing worse than having to clean up nasty little piles of stinky transistors is having to clean up nasty little piles of stinky transistors while listening to "Hand in Glove" for like the millionth freaking time.

  • Not that impressed
    By AKEWFVAKQRLZ1 on 2006-12-08
I was under the assumption that it recoreded the music it heard and could replay it. I'm returning it today.
Oh, AND it was really greasy when I got it, like if it was used already, and I didn't order a used one.
I bought these for my neices for Christmas and now I have no clue what to get them.

  • Cute, but get a screwdriver and batteries ready
    By AIAIZKXTFJPL9 on 2006-12-22
This little pup is totally cute!! It's got a lot of personality and the light show matches the music. My daughter and I both enjoy using it. The reason for my low rating though is the battery usage. For one thing, there's a little tiny philips screw that needs to be removed to get to the batteries. That gets really old when you need to change them a lot. I brought the pooch to work one day and the batteries ran out shortly after lunch time.

If you aren't a "power" user, I would definitely recommend this, but if you are looking to get a little more play time, look elsewhere.

  • iDog
    By A153EN1AYK77Z5 on 2007-01-11
This item is just ok. I feel it is overpriced, maybe at 50% off it would be ok. The sound is mediocre and he may/may not dance with the music. My 10 year old likes it though.

  • Neat, but lacks staying power
    By A1L9X5MKKGFR6C on 2007-01-03
The kids liked it and played it with it for a couple days, but I can see the dog is destined for the shelf. After watching it dance to the music for a while, it loses its appeal. When hooked up to an Ipod or MP3 player, it is barely hearable. I haven't seen any other complaints about this, but our dog's volume barely reaches above loud headphones sitting on a table.

    By A3TMNXQ46UUWZW on 2007-01-10
This product is easy to use - an important feature when considering a gift for a young child. Although the reproduced sound is not of a particularly high quality, the i-dog is fun to watch as its lights flash and its ears wag!It is comical to hear the dog call to you when you're in a different room and beg for attention. My daughter loves this toy; she laughs with it and even gets mad at it when it doesn't stop whining for attention!

  • cute - for one day
    By A2FO4I45P73VGH on 2007-01-10
A few years ago, I was searching for a toy for my daughter. I way looking at one particular toy at a toy store and I asked the employee some questions. One of the questions was "how long do you think this toy will last?", his reply was "hopefully until you leave the store".
Well that pretty much describes my Pink i-dog. I was very cute and my daughter loved it on Christmas day, but by that night it was not working properly. Wouldnt turn off completely, lights wouldnt turn on, wouldnt respond. Changed batteries but didnt help. A real big disappointment.
I dont recommend this toy for anyone.

  • stumped for a Christmas present
    By A37ADU8CJPRYPT on 2007-01-16
I wasn't sure what to get my tween this past Christmas. She didn't ask for iDog but it looked cute in Target commercials. I was surprised it was so small - it looked bigger in television commercials. My tween was surprised and happy to receive iDog since she didn't ask for it. She really likes it and it is cute and a great accessory to her iPod Nano. We just got it for Christmas and had to change batteries within a few weeks - it takes two AA batteries. She thought it had broken and she doesn't use it enough for me to think the batteries were dead but when we changed them it started barking again! I gave it 4 stars because of size and because of the batteries.

  • Short Life-Span
    By A1WQY8LMUHM7D6 on 2007-01-18
This was a Christmas gift. It was cute at first, my daughter loved it but then it failed to work after a short time. We changed the batteries, we let it sit for awhile thinking perhaps it was overused but to no avail. I personally feel we propbably received a "bad product". It happens with mass production. I am pleased with how well Amazon took care of the return. We will continue to purchase items from Hasbro and Amazon. Buyer beware! THANKS Amazon for your courteous customer service! 5*****! for service!

  • NOT WHAT I EXPECTED
    By A1UCYL2LMQSKYO on 2007-01-19
The Hasbro Dog is visually appealing but I found that it has very limited features. It does nod its head back and forth occasionally, when listening to music but not enough to keep you interested. Also, the light display is subpar and to be blunt....boring.

  • Great Gift For Grade School Child
    By A1VOUK9WTH0HAZ on 2007-01-21
This was a very well received gift by an elementary aged girl. She thought it was a great gift to use with her iPod, and was familiar with it through her friends.

  • Great Christmas Present

  • Excellent toy for my 7 year old
    By A3EL3R78OX236R on 2007-02-07
We got this for Christmas and my 7 year old loves it! It adds a new demention to an MP3 player or an IPOD. My kids play with this all the time. I would recommend this product to anyone who asks!

  • fun for all ages
    By A2DCFMCSXG3W1H on 2008-01-22
i got this i dog for my 12 year old sister for christmas. she loves it...i own an i dog amped which is also great. it serves its purpose of playing your music off your mp3 player out loud and its really cute how it dances while it plays. the sound quality is good it plays clear and loud enough to hear a room away. the batteries last for a while also, i would definately recommend it!

  • Sister loved it
    By A2H8TE6Z16CPQG on 2006-11-07
My sister is usually very hard to shop for and very picky. However, she's one of the rare ones that like gadgets and she absolutely loved this i-Dog.

  • Not Sure What This Toy Does
    By A3B9FJ6HM8ESSM on 2007-01-02
Bought this toy for my daughter for Christmas assuming it would be reasonably intelligent and actually do something. Beware...it doesn't. I'm still not sure what it does other than make a few movements based off the music. Plus have plenty of batteries on hand as it eats batteries to the tune of 2+ per day.

  • Too confusing to figure out
    By A126T50L4BOZYY on 2007-01-09
Am I the only one out here who can't get an i-Dog to work. it will work for the first time and once you turn the music off, it doesn't come back on. We've tried two of them. We must be doing something wrong.

  • A fun toy for 8 year olds and girls who love cute things
    By A1DPHYFUL8CPI2 on 2007-01-09
I bought this for my friend for xmas. She falls under the girls who love cute things category. She opened it up right away and plugged in her ipod. It was a big hit. I heard its great for little kids too. The speakers are not to loud, but they are fine for personal listening.

  • pink hasbro i-dog
    By A2ORR0OQ83EYZZ on 2007-01-10
my daughter had to have one for christmas. its cute and amusing, however the amusement is gone now. i think its one of those things that once you use it for a couple of hours, theres nothing new that it does so it gets boring.
