I'm not very good at drawing but i love designing outfits so i thought this game would be perfect. And it is! So you start a designer label and start designing clothes for fashion shows in the U.S. Each show has a theme and 3 judges. you have to use the theme in your outfits and if you know the judges preferences you should use those too. then you pick your model and the music they'll walk to. then they walk the runway. a good model will have a good walk and not stumble. a good model who's confident can improve your score. then the judges rate you. if you do well you get 'diva points' which you can give to different models to improve their skills. you can also then sell your clothes and buy new fabrics.
as you move up in the game you can unlock different models and judge's preferences. i haven't gotten out of the U.S yet but i really love this game. the only drawback is that the graphics aren't amazing but it's still worth it.

  • Cool!

For people who want to be a designer. This is the game for you. (Though it does get a little boring.) Just like dream life. Also, the commercial looks like it's only for little kids. it looks like they used the same girl as in the bratz designer contest. Commercial: Stupid Game: Pretty Good.

  • Really cool!!!!

Tjis game is so fun and it's so cool!!!! I love this game!!!! You would love to get this game. I know it because I played it before and it was a real blast!!!!

  • Addictive and Educational

    By A1PTV04726MHJY on 2007-02-10
My daughter and I played it pretty much straight through the Martin Luther King, Jr. three-day weekend. We hardly noticed the time fly by. My daughter is 8 years old, third grade, and loves to draw. We got hooked on Project Runway, where she would try to design an outfit based on the challenges the contestents were faced with - and she and I even made one of the dresses she designed. So, here it is, six months later and she is firm in her resolve to become a fashion designer (I'll enjoy it while it lasts. : ) and along comes a commercial for Designer's World. Well, we had to have it. And it was worth every penny. It is perfect for the 8,9,10 year old range. It is easy to hook up to the TV, and there is NO DRAWING involved at all. If you can click a remote control, you can play this game. It is a one-person game, but it is easy to have two people take turns. It gives a taste of what it means to select fabrics, choose the right cut, understand your audience, what to look for in a model, selling in different markets, and realizing that judges don't always have good taste. : ) I also love the map of the world included, so kids can see the different markets available to show their outfits. Once you hit every region in the US, you can then choose Tokyo, Paris, Milan, South Africa, and more! Once you get to the end of the game, it gives you a summary of how you did. Be sure to write it down, because this game doesn't give you the option to save. Then, play it again and see if you can beat your own totals. It is pretty easy for 10 years old and up to figure out how to design for the judges and get five stars for every design, but just because the judges like your outfit doesn't mean it'll sell in that market. I love how the game forces you to choose between giving the judges what they want, giving the market what it wants, and designing to please yourself. I highly recommend it.

  • HERE IS A GUIDE FOR EVERYONE THAT IS HAVING TROUBLE!!!!!!!!

This game is definitely worth the price! I am 12 years old and I find myself playing this game every single day! Dream Life was fun too, but it got a little boring and now I rarely play with it. But Designer's World is SO much better!!!!!! I am going to try and help you as much as I can.......
    HELP
Okay, so when you first start off you have 4 choices. You can choose NEW GAME, LOAD GAME,DESIGN CLOTHES, or OPTIONS. When you press NEW GAME, the very first screen that shows up is a magazine cover. From the magazine cover you can choose any of the options... "NEW FABRICS", "FASION HINTS AND TIPS", "JUDGE SPEAKS HIS/HER MIND", AND "PLUS! ALL ABOUT EMMA" (or whatever the model's name is) On the remote that you use, it says, "SELECT", "MENU", "CANCEL", and it has 4 arrow keys. If you press MENU, 5 options appear. MAGAZINE, FASHION REPORT, FASION SHOW, PROFILES, and END TURN. FASION REPORT shows your income, as well as cash reserves, and how well your clothes are selling. FASHION SHOW shows a map of the world. You first pick any place from the U.S. Once you conquer the U.S., you will move on to the other side of the world, like Asia, Africa, etc. Winning will help you earn cash and improve your skills. PROFILE is info on models and judges. Use the 4 arrow keys to choose a character and press SELECT for more details. As soon as you conquer a place a judge will give you a preference, such as: dislikes Argyle, or loves Emma (a model). You will find these preferences in the PROFILES part. And finally you have the option END TURN. When you press this button, different options will appear; FASION SHOW (which brings you back to the map), MANAGE BOOKMARKS (earn extra income next turn), RESEARCH NEW DESIGNS (improve your design skills and increase the variety of clothing you can create.) And then you have SAVE AND QUIT.

    TIPS
    1. TO GET MORE MONEY: Once you have conquered a place, go to the MAGAZINE cover. Where it says, "Plus! All about (model's name), click on it, and your money increases some how. (Unless my game is screwed up or something)

    2. BETTER SCORES: Try to follow the judges preferences and themes. You can find the preferences in the PROFILES screen. You can find the themes when you first start a new place like Africa. A screen will pop up, and if you read it, it will tell you what judges will be judging you and the 2 themes. EXAMPLE:First theme: blue argyle. Second them: orange sweaters.
If you include those two themes in your out fits, you are sure to get a GREAT score!!! Sure your outfits may be a little ugly if you don't like the themes, but it is worth it to have an EXCELLENT score.

Well hopefully I guided some of you that needed help!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

  • Decent game, but the picture and graphics are HORRIBLE!!!
    By A2ARI5SX6DAGJ8 on 2006-12-30
I bought this game for my 8 year-old daughter for Christmas. She loves the game so far, but my complaint is that the picture is TERRIBLE! It reminds me of the Atari video games they had when I was a kid! I was expecting it to look similar to a video game system like PS2, but it does NOT! We don't have anything like a PS2, which is why I think my daughter doesn't care. But if your kid has one, I think they'll be disappointed in the graphics on this. Otherwise, it seems like a good game.

  • fun

i do not have the game yet but i know what u get to do u get to design your outfit and then u pick your model and your music after that u get judged by the judge and if it is like 5 star then u will make a ton of money and at the end(of each show) u get magazine were u can get like new fabrics and learn about the judges u get to go to paris and mulan and places like that it looks fun i would get it if i were u because this game looks soooooooooooo fun thank u

  • It is ok, but it does get boring.....
    By on 2007-02-19
I am 13 years old and really wanted this game. I got it for Christmas and was very happy that I got it. I plugged it in and started playing it. Yes, you are right, it is very addicting....AT FIRST!!!!! The actual game where you enter fashion shows, I do not like it very much because I always seem to run out of cash. You have a set amount of cash when you start, and I think they should give you more than they actually do. I like the part of the game where you can just design anything you want, and do not have a limit on the amount of cash that you spend. That is my favorite thing to do on this game. Those are really the only 2 things that you can do on this game. This game is not as exciting as it says it is on tv. I think if the price were a little lower, it would be worth the price, but at this price I think I would wait until the price goes down before you buy it. I think that this game is better than dream life though, cause I have played that too. Also, this game should have more options of clothing instead of you choosing the same thing every time you play. Take my advice and wait until it goes on sale!!!!!

  • A GREAT DESIGNING GAME!
    By on 2006-12-27
This game is a great game for people who love fasion desinging. To get started with your game, you first have to decide where you want to have your fasion show. At first, you have fasion shows only in the US, but as you get better, you get to have them in more places. Each place has three judges and a set amount of outfits you have to create. In the game, you can reasearch the judges and learn their prefrences and how they judge. Some are trickier than others to impress. Also, each place has a theme. For example, at the Los Angles fasion show, you might have to create two outfits that use polka dot and winter colored fabrics. Once you have selected a place, you go to the design table, were you create your outfits. But, the tricky thing is is that you have a set budget. What this means is that it costs you to create a piece of your outfit. Each color and design is a different design. You also have to pay to particapate in the show. once you designed all your outfits, you pick your models, their hairstyle, and they music they use in the show. The more you play, the more models you get. Then the fasion show starts. The models go down the run way. after they finish, the judges give you their score. The tougher ones often are VERY hard to impress. if you do well, and get good scores, you earn "diva points" which allows your models to have special abilites. You also can unlock judges prefrence, which gives you tips on what they like and dislike. This is a really great game, for you learn how to spend your money wiselly, so you can create really great designs. I also think that you learn how to mix and match colors and clothing items, and can use the abilties in real life. Also, this game has very easy setup, for all you do is take the little game consle and plug it into the tv and it's on. Also, the game consle has a little hatch at the top of it, and that's were you can keep your remote. I think this was a great idea for i lose things alot, but i will always kinow were my remote is!
Over all, this is a great game to "kick up your fasion sense!"

  • Price
    By on 2006-12-10

  • Loved it !!
    By on 2006-12-09
This game is awesome. You run short on money after your first fashion show, but you can go to the 'menu' and get more so you can have another fashion show. That is the only 'con'.

This was bought for my 12 year old daughter and she loves it. This is the one item she has played with the most. I'll come home from work and she is playing with it on the tv - she is also drawing designs. This has turned out to be educational along with fun!

  • Lots of fun
    By A1OQ9AZYDO8AUT on 2007-01-13
Because this game is a plug-and-play, set-up is a cinch. Also, my 11-year-old daughter loves it. She loves sending her creations down the runway or just playing the free-form option and designing outfit after outfit.

  • Fun gift for preteens
    By A2BB07KHO42509 on 2007-01-21
This was a gift for my 8 year old for Christmas. It is nice for that age where toys are too babyish, but they need somethign to play with. Very portable and easy to use. This is a great gift for any girl who is into fahshion!

  • Awesome!
    By on 2007-04-01
This game is so much fun! I am 11 (almost 12) and got it for a present after a surgery. It was a great way to have fun when I didn't really feel like getting up. I love to design fashion and love the idea of getting to be a fashion designer, whether it is in the real world or just on a screen. You pick a fashion show with three judges and design outfits based on a theme and judges prefrences, just like in real life. You then pick models and music and send them down the runway. You can also design fashions without the shows. My friends and I play it ALL the time and I still haven't gotten tired of it!

  • BUY IT NOW!!! :)

It is expensive but so worth its price and so easy to set up. Just put the batteries into the game remote and comsole, plug the console into your tv and you are set to play! The commercial doesnt make it seem as fun as it really is but it is SOOOOO FUN! BUY THIS PRODUCT NOW!!!! :)

  • A definite winner!
    By A3MPQL2S5LHSM9 on 2007-01-11
Our 11 yr-old (almost 12) daughter received this game for Christmas and absolutely loves it! Very creative game...let's the child choose styles, materials, designs. It's really interesting to watch her put outfits together and sometimes she even asks my advice!

  • Disappointed in Quality of Item
    By A27RYOOU8HC6DB on 2007-01-18
I bought this item for a nine year old girl. We had difficulty using the remote and thought that it might be
defective. After several attempts, we decided that it was just "touchy" and had to be pushed just the
right way. After several days of using it, the girl lost interest because of the problems using it. (Not like
using a video game). The concept of the game is great but lacks in a quality design.

  • Not very flashy, but fun
    By A112KKLYYBD8M on 2007-03-18
It's no PlayStation 3, but it's really a very good game. Yes, the graphics aren't all that flashy but it's more interesting than I expected it to be. My eight year old daughter got this for Christmas and we have each set up a designer label. The business aspects of the game are what make it challenging. I just recently played the section where you get to just design for pleasure. The only thing I wished for in that section was that they would show you the completed outfit on a model. Even my mother liked the game.

  • Dream Life IS better but this is really fun to.
    By A2BUEE752R4EQA on 2006-12-31
I got this game and Dream life in a package deal for $[...] This is a cool game because you can pick whitch models you want to use for the run way, YOU make the outfits how ever you like, Pick music for the runway, pick models hairstyle, and but differnt fabrics. This game its fun but I have not beat it yet...I beat Dream Life in around 3-4 hours. I like Dream Life more for right now, but I might like this more! Thanks-PANIC! • Really changed my view of fashion designing
    By on 2007-01-02
I got designers world for christmas and i love it. It is very addicting and i finished it within the first 2 nights! The pictures and graphics are great and the possibilities of design are endless. My brother even cames to watch me play it! I came to love designing clothes and i would strongly reccomend this game to boys and girls of ages 9 and up. Thanks to hasbro for such a great game!

  • Great game for your little designer.
    By A1JTZ9K2RZKAA4 on 2007-01-04
I have a 12 year old that loves to sit and draw designs, so this was the perfect gift for her!

She will go in her room for hours and play this game! It lets you buy fabric and design your own outfits, hire models, and put them in fashion shows! This is the real deal!

  • Budding designer
    By AKIBKMJZCAMKC on 2007-05-15
My daughter LOVES this game! I find it a little repetitive, but she is greatly entertained!

  • Excellent!!
    By on 2006-12-20
I am 6. I got this for my birthday. I love it, I love it, I love it! The one part I don't like is, it has a lot of reading. But my big brother helps me. He loves it too!
**Mom's note: All of my children love this game, even the older boys! I think this will be more fun for my daughter when she is older and can understand a little more. As for now she loves designing the different clothes! In short great game for the recommended ages.

  • Great for the fashion Diva
    By AN6FYRQXQV7I2 on 2006-12-28
This game is great, only both my daughters and I are very frustrated with it. It did not come with very good instructions on how to play the game, and it took us about 3 days to figure out a place to make an outfit with the very limited funds they give you. After the show, we cannot figure out how to get more money, and without the money we cannot enter any other shows! Right now we seem kind of stuck, and annoyed.

  • PERFECT AND TTL FUN!
    By on 2007-05-26
this game is sooooo much fun but it kinda gets limited after a while. i mean the designing and the fashion shows are sooo much fun. u get to choose where to have ur next fashion show. but each location has certain themes. like: earth tones, red, polka dots, etc. sure u loose and gain money but u can get it quite easily but ending ur session and getting an income. the music is decent and its 100 times better than dream life. trust me, this game got me hooked for weeks and i still am! have fun playing it!

  • I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!
    By on 2007-12-25
I bought this game at Target and right when I got home I started to play it. I thought this game was sooooo fun! You get to design and create fashions, enter them in fashion shows, and show the judges your fashion skills! In each fashion show you enter, the judges give you a score on which designs are the best. There are some picky judges, and some judges that love everything you design. If you like fashion and designing clothes, Designer's World is a great game for you! I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!

  • What a Fab Game
    By on 2007-11-10
i thought this game was a lot of fun! The graphics arent the best, but besides that i think it is sooo great.

  • Fun!Fun!Fun!
    By on 2008-01-02
This plug in tv game is actually really fun. The only proplem is th egraphics arren't the best. Like some times it seems a bit hard to see all the details and also the judges that judge the out fit are so fake they look like a piece of card board standing up. So I think this game is a fun game but the price is way over price so I recomned this game to people who like to design out fits.

I bought this for my 9 year old who is quite talented in drawing and enjoys designing on paper. She also frequents on-line sites that allow her to choose the clothing for animated figures. She did not enjoy this game.

It was not very easy to navivate and the choices for clothing types and colors were very limiting. She never even got to putting her models on the runway because we were both turned off by the limited options.

Perhaps this wil be more suitable for her interests when she's older, but she was bored with it after about 45 minutes. She didn't find it fun at all.

As a mother, I also think the images portray the 'perfect' look that we are frequently cautioned about introducing to our girls. Perhaps she would have enjoyed it more if there were variations of people as well as clothing. This is as much a game about the models as it is about the clothing they are wearing. Guess I should have caught a clue after reading Hasbro's "Dream Life" description.

Not worth it to us. If you share similar values, I'd say skip it.
