MY SON LOVES THIS TOY! By A21ZUNGWU8UHYT on 2006-11-07
I purchased this toy for my son, for his 7th Birthday. He plays with this toy more than anything else! APPA can tell when you pretend to make him fly, and makes his battle noises. Aang flies really far, I would suggest that you use it outside unless you have vaulted ceilings! Very cool toy! All of my kids try to play with it, they range from 2 to 16 years! (Not for small children)
Fun, but somewhat difficult for little hands By AFQH5XEE3HHGZ on 2007-01-10
I got this for my 4 year old son for Christmas. He loves it now but we had a couple of mishaps on the road to this point. At first, it was hard for him, (and me) to figure out how to get Aang to insert properly into the hole in Appa's back. Also, make sure your kids know to stand clear when lauching Aang, because he goes fast and my son has leaned over it a couple of times while launching and gotten hit in the face with it.
Wonderful toy By A23OL52L357ZL0 on 2006-12-28
I must admit I was very leary of this toy.....figured it would flop when propelling Aang. This thing is amazing!!!! It actually propels him to our 9 foot ceilings. Even my 8 year old daughter plays with it and I got it for my 4 year old son. If you have a Avatar lover in the family....this toy is the one!!!!
Very Disappointed By A2MFVF30YP7F8A on 2007-02-10
My 6 year old son loves Avatar and we thought this would be a great toy. It turned out to be a big disappointment. Trying to place Aang in the top of Appa is so hard to do even for the adults. It does fly great but the frustration level trying to get it to launch is not worth it.
My 3 year old likes this toy a lot. By A1ANSJMZQUKY03 on 2007-05-10
I bought this as a birthday present for my 3 year old. He learned very quickly how to install the Aang into the little loading circle on APPA's back and launch. He has fun every time he launches Aang, trying to be the first to catch him mid-air (his competition includes the dog). It's been one month and he still plays with this toy almost daily.
- Kids loved it

Got this for my nephew's 7th birthday, all the kids loved it. A little tricky getting Avatar in just right, some of the younger kids needed help. Also had to make sure they weren't aiming it at anyone :-) But all in all it was a bit hit. A little worried about durability, but don't know either way.

I bought this for my son over a year ago. He is a huge Avatar fan, but this toy did not pass his standards. The biggest problems was that the launching set-up does not usually work. It is very difficult for my 7 year old to get Aang to stay down before launching him. The design is flawed. Many of the other options work great (appa raors, etc.), but since this is a launching toy, I can't see giving it more than a couple of stars.

My son received Appa and Aang as a Christmas gift, and he was extremely excited about this gift as he enjoys the cartoons immensely, and has even gotten the rest of us to enjoy the series. He enjoys the toy, but sometimes is a little difficult to align the Aang character into the slot for him, so other than the occasional frustration he enjoys this toy. We've even used it as a tool to help with eye hand coordination, teaching him to try to catch Aang, as he he soft enough not to hurt him.

This toy is amazing. My 4 year old twin boys have mastered puttin Aang into the launching hole. I am shocked by some of the other revies of kids not being able to master the launching of Aang.
This toy has given my boys hours and hours of enjoyment since they got it for Christmas.

My daughter likes this toy. Once we learned how to launch Aang, it was a great entertainment for both her and the cats.Aang flies a moderate distance, suitable for indoor flying, and is durable enough to survive at least one person stepping on it. The flyer shows signs of wear and the cats would love to play with it more often.
The downsides I see are that you have to have the Sound effects on in order to launch it, and the instructions were entirely inadequate. It sat on the shelf unused for several months because we simply didn't know to push down harder on the flying part of it. Loading Aang does involve pushing against a strong spring in an area that looks like it won't work.
It's more educational than I would have expected as well, teaching angular momentum and the basics of ballistic trajectory.
