The engine has a light-up smokestack that makes the train come to life when pressed. The train begins to roll forward and a song plays. Place an animal in the driver's area to learn more about the world of animals through a song. The second car features a bead bar to engage Baby's interest. Choose from two modes of play: sitting mode for the youngest baby and motion-activated mode for older play. Includes three animal friends. Requires 3 "C" batteries (not included). Measures 13" x 12" x 6.8". Toot! Toot! Here come the animals, riding around on a musical choo-choo train. This fun motorized train helps babies ages six months to three years learn about animals through song and play. The Amazing Animals and Their Choo-Choo Simply place one of the three small friends in the engine car to one of four amusing songs about animals. Baby will love to crawl along with the train as it lights up, playing music and sounds. The Go Choo-Choo also encourages curiosity as the baby figures out how to make it go. Each train car has a unique feature that captures your precious little one's attention and keeps them busy. You can choose between a sitting mode for the youngest baby and motion-activated for older play. Watch out parents, the tunes are so catchy, you'll soon be humming them yourself! Each animal car is full of rewarding activities to engage baby's attention. The engine car has leaf-shaped beads that slide from side-to-side and the smallest car has a built-in trapeze for the monkey. A light-up smokestack delights the eyes and when pressed the train moves forward in a straight line. For hours of amusement, the animals have movable joints, textured feet, teethable ears, and rainstick sounds. This toy is made from sturdy plastic and can withstand harsh child play. It rides especially smooth over hard surfaces, but works on carpet too. Best of all, should you suddenly feel like you're in a zoo, there is a power-volume control for quiet play. The Go Choo-Choo Train requires three C batteries (not included) and measures 23-by-7-by-13 inches (LxWxH). And these chunky animals are not just cute, their feet are sculpted with various textures for fun exploration and they have teether ears to chew on. This toy also appeals to a diverse age, from babies who are first learning to crawl to toddlers who like to sing along with the animal friends. Plus, Amazing Animals sets are available if you'd like to add to the bunch. What's in the Box Three animal friends and a motorized train.

FYI / Wonderful Interactive Toy By AKGBPE4CKHG1R on 2006-07-28
This toy has many different learning options. It is very interactive.
1. Moves great on carpeted surfaces! (unlike most moterized toys)
2. Fun educational songs about different animals play when animal is placed in driver's seat.
3. You can buy many add ons for this toy with different zoo animals.
4. FYI...Note to consumer: You need to pull out the clear tag from the bottom of the train in order for it to work correctly (otherwise it will operate in demo mode).
5. The biggest complaint that I might have about this toy is the train car add ons and how they attach to each other. The additional train cars have hook and string add ons that tend to fall of easily during play. An older child might not have such a problem with this.
6. The animals make clicking sounds when the joints are moved. The bottom of each animals foot/hoof have textures and shapes.
7. Some of the animals even make the appropriate sound for that animal...like the monkey.
8. Has stationary mode and moving mode.
Overall, very neat toy. My 9 month old really enjoys it.
Great, Durable, Consider even for an Older Child By A292IMYFFYNS6S on 2006-08-09
This is part of a new line, so I did not have much advance feedback on the product. However, my daughter got it for a first birthday and she loves it. The animals are durable and fun to position (they sit, stand, etc. without tipping over). The train moves well when the smokestack is pushed, but this feature can be turned off and my daughter likes pushing the cars around. We even bought an extra animal (sold separately) she loved it so much.
I think its great even for an older child and a toddler neighbor loves it. It is a good toy for pretend play with the animals and the train cars are sturdy enough to hold other things (blocks, etc.)
Overall, a great toy at a time when it is hard to find toys that are safe, yet encourage active and creative play (that 12-24 months range).
Adorable! By AJW30RHOZC4OY on 2007-02-21
This animal train is an adorable toy. My 2 year old has this and she loves it. 2 or 3 is definitely not too old for this. It's really cute and not so babyish that it seems inappropriate to give to this age.
It's nice that this train goes so well on carpet, unlike some other toys. There is no problem with that.
My daughter especially likes the sturdy, colorful animals that came with this. Her set came with a giraffe, an elephant, and a monkey. The giraffe's & elephant's joints make cool clicking noises when you move them around. This is very appealing to little kids. Our monkey is not jointed and makes no sounds. A previous reviewer said something about the monkey making sounds. That person must have been referring to a monkey that came in a separate set because the one pictured here doesn't do anything.
One thing my husband and I don't like about this train is the singing. Singing is good, don't get me wrong. It's just that the woman's voice on this thing is LOUD and annoying and she isn't singing known songs. There are 2 volume choices- loud and louder. We ended up putting a few layers of tape over the speaker holes & it's still loud. As for the songs on this, I'd think "I've been working on the railroad" or something like that would have been nice rather than the made up nonsense that this train has. It would also be nice if the train would run without the music turned on, but it doesn't.
Overall, great toy but horrible music.
Great time killer By A6LQ8OF6FQM7H on 2006-11-22
Bought this for my 7 1/2 month old son as a splurge, hoping to find a toy he would actually be interested in for more than 5 minutes. Great interactive toy. He is more interested in the train for the moment than the animals. He can spend over 1/2 an hour playing with the wheels, the moving leaves, and bananas that are attached to the train before wanting to move on. There is also a little red bird attached to the train with a spring that bounces back and forth as he bats it. Very few toys keep his attention for this long (which I guess is normal for his age). The only things that he will play with for longer periods of time are small cardboard boxes and small plastic tupperware lids, all of which I can find around my house for free! Still, I consider it a good purchase, because it will grow with him, and he can play with it differently as he develops.
One note though... one ear on the elephant broke after a day. It is still attached to the elephant, but it no longer makes the clicking noises it is suppose to as it rotates.
Great Toy Worth Every Penny! By A3EADZ2I6KOSXD on 2006-11-05
This toy is one of those that will get played with ALOT and be worth the money you spent on it. Or will make a great gift! My son is 1 and we bought this for his birthday. We also bought the zebra that attaches to the end of the train. We dont buy alot of toys because they just dont get played with and we cannot waste our money but this is one toy we spurged on for him and he loves it. This is a toy that can be played with for many years and he will not outgrow quickly. Great toy! THANKS FISHER PRICE! quality, durable, safe (hopefully no recalls like alot of other companies have) I hope to get the other two attachements for christmas. (I think there are 3 in all)I bet we see these toys being passed around for the next 5 to 10 years. Just like the other 2 fisher price toys that he is currently playing with that were my daughters 15 years ago!
- REALLY CUTE TOY
     By A3NOBH42C7UI5M on 2007-03-23
It doesn't move really well on carpet, but it does move, it really is a cute toy and seems very safe for baby. All the little animals have lots of things that move and make sounds and all the edges are rounded (easy, safe chewing). It's well made and should last a long time.
UPDATE: Jonny is now 10 months old. He tries to climb in the train, drags it around, tosses it around, BANGS on the whistle on top over and over, to make it play. It's one of the toys he will play the longest with when he plays alone. I can't believe this toy has held up to the punishment and it still works perfectly. It's on all the time and get used hours every day and I've only changed the batteries once in the 4 months we've had it. I do highly recommend this toy.
- THIS TOY IS GREAT FOR YOU AND YOUR CHILD!
     By A3HOS6VYXNG2NQ on 2006-10-27
I Purchased the train and plan to purchase every animal that is avalible to add on! My son is 7 months and it gets his attention. Its hard to find toys that a baby (under 12 months) is interested in. This is a great toy for parents too, its kinda fun to play with, and to interact with your child. Just so you all know, a Kangaroo is coming out soon! I would recommend this toy for any child and even for a baby when they start to gain interest in their toys when they can sit up right! GREAT TOY! LOVE IT!
- Loved the toy, but broke in 30 minutes by 23-month-old.
     By A3H1C8ZUX4ZN82 on 2006-11-15
When we first opened the Animal Train, it crawled along on the low-to-medium height carpet just fine. Within 30 minutes, my 23-month-old boy apparently broke the train because it can now only pull on the lineoleum, otherwise, it will click (the gears) and not go anywhere if on the carpet. Couldn't find anything in the instructions as to 'DO NOT USE ON CARPET'.
We still have fun with it, but are careful only to use it on the lineoleum (which there isn't a lot of it so we have to re-direct the train so we don't strip the gears).
- Still Lovin' It.
     By A3KXRVE9E1E532 on 2006-12-01
I got this train set for my son when he turned 9 months old. At first he was frightened of it (it's pretty big and can be loud) and he would get mad and cry when it would drive off without him. But, after a few days of playing with it and getting used to it, he loved it. He quickly learned how to make the train go, how to push the little horn to make the animal noises and how to make the little songs play by putting an animal inside the engine. He mostly plays with the engine and the animals separately though. He will be 12 months in a few days and he still plays with parts or all of this toy every single day. He also has the lion, zebra and hippo extras that go along with it. The animals in this set are sooooo cute! My only complaint is that the joints of the animals can wear out fast with lots of play. Some of the legs of the giraffe and the hippo don't click and stay stiff as they used to, but that doesn't really detract from the greatness of this toy.
- Manufacturing defects
     By AYGTD7V4DOADE on 2006-12-13
We were excited to receive this toy as a gift, but the paint rubbed off in several blotches on the engine and the train would not move in "move-along" mode. Also, by the commercials it appeared to tell about whichever animal is in the front car- it does not. It just cycles through about 3 songs when you push down on the engine seat (which is too hard for a 6 mo. old to do). The smoke stack (the easiest for a baby to push down) only plays 1 song- so be prepared to learn it quickly and sing-along!
We'll be exchanging ours for another in hopes that it will be without the defects before giving up on it completely.
- Great toy for babies and toddlers!
     By A1EHAM1W3XTXLQ on 2006-11-03
My 9 month old son loves this toy. He's not very interested in the train yet, but he loves the animals. When you turn thier heads and legs, they make clicking sounds, and the monkey has little beads inside that make it rattle when they shake it. We found this at Wal-Mart for about $28, but in addition to the girrafe, monkey and elephant, we got the zebra for free as part of a gift set. We're going to get him the other animals, too (they're about $10 each). I think that he'll play with this for a long time.
- The Song Will Drive You Nuts
     By A33X3OTBEDLYZ3 on 2007-06-09
My son never really got into this toy, which is ironic because he got like three of them for Christmas from various relatives, two of which we took back. He was only 6 months then, but is a year now and still doesn't really care about it. Maybe it's better for older kids as others have mentioned. The song it plays is nauseating at best. What is it with the voices on kids toys? Why is it a rule that if it is for a kid the voice has to be sickeningly obnoxious? My son likes soothing, normal sounding voices. He is weirded out by loud, annoying songs like that.
- Wonderful!
     By A908Y1VRCX3TP on 2006-11-26
I bought this for my 9 month old nephew and he LOVES it...can't get enough of it! I also got him the zebra (sold separately). I HIGHLY recommend this toy!
- Could be much better....
     By A13IU5RK8QBBDH on 2006-12-15
This train seems very cool by advertising and even in the package. Unfortunately, it is a pretty lackluster toy.
We received it for my daughter's first birthday, and by day 2 it stopped rolling when the "animal train" song played. The platform, which is supposed to play songs about each of the different animals (and doesn't actually recognize which animal is there), works only occasionally (usually not).
All-in-all pretty disappointing, especially considering the hefty price tag.
The only reason I gave it three stars is it is cute. And my daughter likes turning the animals legs and hearing them click.
We really like Fisher Price products, but this was not a hit.
- "All Aboard the Animal Choo-Choo..."
     By A2U5H9TSUMEDUD on 2007-07-16
My niece received this for Christmas when she was 4 months old. She is now nearly a year old and still loves her choo-choo. As others have said this rolls great on the carpet! She enjoys the music and likes the animals which came with it. In addition, some of them can be purchased separately. She picked out the Croc herself when we were in another store and loves the monkey and zebra. A very cute concept and kids can even push it themselves.
- Fisher Price QUALITY at its Best
     By A3OCCRVRBYS2W on 2007-01-18
We bought this as a Holiday Gift for our 12 month old twins. We were delighted. The quality and ingenuity of all the elements is phenomenal. Developmentally there are so many details on the animals, for example their foot pads are colorfully textured! The Polar Bear and the Monkey House come with babies, food, and an accessory bird! This has made me want to buy them the whole collection, not just for the train but for all the animals and their ecosystems. What a great way to teach your little ones about colors, animals, what they eat and where they are from?!!! The train is great bonus!! Way to go Fisher Price, you have lived up to your reputation on this one!!!!
- Cute toy, has a few drawbacks...
     By A2YFAHRCIBKQ5Q on 2007-05-11
While this toy may move well on carpet, it does not move so well on hard floors. It often slips when it chugs across our floor. Also, if we attach more than one additional train car, it weighs it down and sometimes the train stops moving completely. This has done this since its purchase, so do not suspect it is a battery issue. Other than that, this is a really cute toy. And I like that you can buy the additional animals. My 10-month old likes it until you get him on the floor with it, then it scares him! I don't think he likes that it moves on it's own, but I'm sure this will pass and that he will eventually like it...
- Be Very Careful!!
     By A1D85SULKEK7RA on 2006-12-29
I have twin 13 month old girls. Their grandma bought this for them for Christmas and they enjoy playing with it. However, with a natural reaction of putting everything in their mouths, no matter how much I say no, the elephant has been taken away. My one girl put the trunk of the elephant in her mouth sideways, and the way it is designed, it got stuck and locked behind her teeth. It was almost impossible to get out where we she was almost taken to the emergency room. It was finally able to get out, but lot of tears and crying went along with it 'cause it hurt being stuck and pulled on her teeth. And this toy is designed for 6 months and up!!!! How can a toy be made to where a piece can get stuck in a mouth so easily when that is what babies do most-explore with putting things in there mouths. This is not a toy that is designed for this age. There have been no other problems with the toy itself, but just the elephant's trunk. Be Careful and I would recommend to take the elephant away without hesitation! Fisher Price was notified and they are sending a shipping label to return the elephant and also sending a certificate to get a different animal.
- Cute Idea - Big Let Down
     By AX5P3EZPQC0C3 on 2006-12-30
Although the idea behind this toy is exceptional, it's been a huge let down. It was purchased for Christmas for my 7 month old, and considering the price (we bought all of the additional animals) it's really disappointing. It plays the same song over and over again, the additional cars easily detach and after a very short time my daughter loses interest in the train - which is typical for her age. But she does like the animals and they are a great size for her to hold, especially the little ones that came along with the polar bear and monkey (although I took away the one small monkey because she can easily choke herself on the tail). Definitely wouldn't buy it again. I expected more "bells and whistles" because of the advertising and the price. In my opinion, Fisher Price took the cheap way out, this could have been a really cool toy. Hopefully her interest will be piqued as she gets older.
- My 6 month old LOVES this...
     By A1I3Z2IC5ZOAVE on 2007-01-16
From "dancing" to the catchy songs and watching the light blink to watching it go and playing with the animals... my son couldn't be happier. He loved it from the moment it was unwrapped Christmas morning. A nice feature is you can shut off the train so that it doesn't move when playing the music. Also, when it's moving and it hits something... it stops automatically. A very nice safety feature! The ONLY improvement I wish this had would be a circle track it could ride on while the baby sits in the center.
- Great Toy for Infant to Tot
     By A2S8HM1X9P7VW1 on 2007-01-19
This toy is wonderful. My 21 month old daughter enjoys playing with it very much. The toy provides lots of interesting elements from the the vibrant colors, the movable parts on each animal, the different patterns & shapes on the bottom of each animals leg, the music is great, and the best part is that it's a functioning train that moves on its own. Even my 3 year old nephew enjoys it when he visits. This toy is money well spent and if I'd discovered it sooner I would of bought it right away.
- Choo-Choo Train
     By AGGPF1I9E6OVB on 2007-03-14
Adorable, bright, strong, and big train set! Larger than I imagined. I purchaed this for my new grandchild. I, myself, had 3 sons who had a train set similar to this but smaller. All 3 of them loved it and played with it for years. I'm hoping my grandchild gets as much joy and entertainment. This particular site offered it for $5 less than the Fisher Price site, (I am a comparison shopper). It arrived within 2 days!
- Cute toy, just not a fovorite
     By A2XOFIS1IIZWYC on 2007-03-29
My twins got this toy for their first birthday, they are now 17 months. They like the train and all of the animals; it is just not a favorite toy.
They like the train, but we had to turn of the moving function (thumbs up for being able to turn off the wheels) because my daughters kept stopping it from moving away from them.
The songs are annoying, but upbeat. We all like the animal sounds you get when you push the bell or place an animal in the engine. I just wish that some of the animal sounds were more identifiable as to which animal says what (what animal says "chomp, chomp"?).
All of the animals except for the monkey that comes with the train give satisfying clicking noises when you move the arms/legs around. The bottom of the feet/hands all have different colors and sometimes beads for added interest. The twins like to play with the animals and move their arm/legs into all sorts of unnatural poses. My favorite is the flying giraffe.
We have since bought/received most of the rest of this series of toys and they seem to be all similar. The polar bear and the monkey set are nice because they have electronic animal sounds when you move the head and have carrying cases.
- The Choo Choo rules!
     By A1TYHWCNBQR09V on 2007-05-09
My son (9 Months) plays with the choo-choo part of the set every morning for about a half an hour and continues to play with it throughout the day. It is extremely durable, he bangs it all over the place, likes to spin the leaves on the railing and set the music off from the center panel, plays with the wheels, chases it when it's moving. I couldn't ask for a better toy. He is totally uninterested in the animals, but who cares.
- Does not run on my carpet.
     By AELOT5F0VRYE9 on 2007-05-31
I did not request this toy for my son, but got it anyway. He does like trains, but doesn't really consider this a train. He pushes the button to get it to move and it doesn't start up right away and then it struggles on the carpet. We have to give it a little push to even get it to start. It's also slightly annoying and it was over and done with after a month.
- Wonderful Toy!
     By A1UXSU2S5V786A on 2007-06-19
I purchased this toy for my 1 yr old Grandson. The first time he played with it, he started to dance. Now whenever he pushes the button for the music, I get to enjoy seeing his moves. Very entertaining for both of us. Well made toy with many options for play.
- Great Fisher-Price Toy!!! 5 stars!
     By ARGHK9ZTNR7NG on 2007-07-16
My 1-year-old son received this toy for Christmas and he still loves playing with it. I would say it is one of the cutest toys for toddlers on the market right now (being that Fisher-Price has been my favorite brand for toys). Very educational, it gives the kids the sense of rhythm, all of the animals have moving parts. I do not agree with other reviewers saying that music will drive you crazy. It is actually much nicer than all of the other musical toys we have at home.
I would highly recommend this one for 1-year-old and up!!! Great toy!
- FUN TOY!!
     By A2FG90RW53W8WS on 2007-09-03
As of this writing, this toy along with its counter parts is not part of the lead recall. That being said, we love this toy. It holds my eleventh month attention. To turn it on is very simple because all you do is push the green button. The animals are a great teaching tool because he learns as he plays. Some of the animals make noises so while he is away from the train; he has the animals to play with while we are on the road. We have bought two of the other sets that connect with the train and we have not seen any problems with the train pulling all at once. We have had the toys for about four months and they have not failed to perform.
- My infant's favorite
     By A1J1V1RK7G8ZKP on 2008-02-25
My infant got this for Christmas at 7 months old. She loved it immediately. She first just loved to push the big button that makes it go and sing the song about the choo choo. Then, she learned she could play with the extras attached to the cars. Then she started taking the animals out and playing with those separately. Recently, she still presses the big green button at least 20 times a day, sometimes just in passing by to hear the song, but she has learned to press the smaller button for animal sounds, press the platform to hear new songs, and place animals in the platform (also playing a new song). She chases the train when we turn on the motion, and she laughs. She also claps and sways back and forth to the music. She has already learned to say "monkey," a word we don't use very often and I associate with her having this toy. Not only did we purchase this, but we also have the zebra and the lion add on cars. Her favorite is actually the lion; it has a mane that turns and has little colorful balls in it that she loves.
Some things that are nice about the toy that she might not yet show appreciation for:
-Many parts on the animals are specifically made soft and bumpy for teething.
-Though some of the motion on the animals is a tiny bit tough at first, it actually loosens up a bit as you play with it and the baby gets the hang of how the animals move.
- You can turn on or off the motion of the train.
- VERY durable... seems impossible to scratch or break, and trust me, she pushes it around and drops things in and on it so much we know.
- Teaches rhythm, singing, and different things about animals through easy songs.
- The songs are really good, imho. I've gotten sick of them, but again, she presses the button about 20 times a day EASILY. But I'm not so sick of them that I take the toy away or cease singing along with it when she presses the buttons.
- It is really quite cute... some toys my baby has loved I don't feel are too cute.
- With all of her usage, it's amazing that we haven't had to change the batteries yet!
My only qualm with this toy, really, is that it says that hippos are slow. They actually run and also swim very fast, so I'm not really sure why they put that into a song incorrectly. But as far as my husband and I can tell (and he's a zoologist) that's really the only correction in the factual knowledge, and it's not a big deal for most people.
My daughter has played with this for over 2 months straight now and it entertains her enough for me to get some stuff done, too, which might be a selling point for a lot of stay-at-homers or people who just don't have enough time when the baby is around to get housework done.
- Love this toy
     By A1N4TB1HRQQX79 on 2007-01-31
My little boy who was 7 months old at the time received this as a Christmas gift. He is totally captivated with the music and the animals. He absolutely loves it. And, with several different tunes, you don't have to listen to the same song over and over again. Great toy!!
