  The picture on Amazon site is not correct. This battery monitor shows the voltage value with .01 precision (or two digits after decimal point). That is far more then enought to tell the battery status. I put it in the car, it automatically switches between "battery status monitoring" and "charging status monitoring". When the engine is stopped, it is in "battery status monitoring mode", when engine is running, it will be in "charging status monitoring" mode. Amazon's price is even bettern then Walmart. Definitely a great value buy. Will recommend this item to my friends.

  just got the monitor from amazon based on the reviews here. the actual device is slightly different from it looks in the picture, with rounder edges. i guess the new product has been revised. also the protective plastic film is extremeply easy to peel off, a bit too easy i would say. or it might have something to do with the weather. here in singapore it's 30C all the time. the device has good build quality. the monitor can show two different tiny icons above voltage reading, under the battery and charging modes. the LCD is clear with bright blue backlight. basically it doesnt cost arm or leg but does all i expected. i will leave it plug in all the time in my car. i am sure i will be alerted by the unusual low voltage one day to realise the time to replace my battery. that will be the time i can recover the cost of this product by saving the expensive recovery service.

  I bought this to monitor the battery in my camper. It works
  quite well - a good solution for the price. The settings
  (Red, Yellow, Green) match what I'm looking for pretty closely.
  It has a single decimal place of accuracy - 2 decimal places
  would have scored it a 5.

  I don't know if this is common, but I found it extremely difficult to peel the protective plastic film off of the LCD screen. It's shown in the picture, the 12.6 reading is printed on this film. When I pulled the tab to remove it, only the top half of the film came off ... leaving the printed part attached to the screen. I was lucky that I didn't break the LCD trying to get it off.
  Other than that, this meter appears to work well now that I can read it.
  A good buy for the price ... just be careful getting that film off.

  The numbers are clear even at night however after just 5 days of operation, the green back light died so I can't see anything at night. The meter still works so I can only use it during the day. I called their tech support and said that they'll replace this one if I return the faulty unit, however, I have to pay for the shipping! Since their product failed, I believe that they should be the one handling the return cost. Returning would already cost half the price I paid for this item.

  Very useful device to monitor voltage and charging. I like it. The plastic overlay was difficult to remove. I just wished I had one before my alternator died on me. I could have had the alternator DXed before it went dead by having a voltage gauge or monitor.

  This little device is a great value and time saver. Just plug it in and tell instantly if your battery and charging system are operating properly. No more playing around under the hood with your multi-meter. I have several items from Equus and I'm a fan of the company. They produce quality products that work great.

  this product does exactly what I wanted. It is cheap, handy and does not require a technician to install- just plug it into your cigarette lighter.
  
  I had alternator and battery problems in the past so I always want to know what is happening with these 2 areas.
  
  I can reccommend this product to anyone whose vehicle does not have a built in voltmeter

  Seemingly just another auto gadget fortunately the Equus 3721 is more sophisticated than its ponderous description. A breeze to connect to any car's 12 Volt electrical system. Simply push into the lighter socket or an auxiliary power outlet now found in many newer vehicles.
  
  With the engine running the instrument constantly displays battery condition with an LED light; amber when marginal, red if the battery is discharging. A green light indicates a correctly functioning electrical system. All is well with both battery and, most importantly, the alternator.
  
  The Equus is also an accurate voltmeter. Digital read-outs give exact voltage in the electrical system. Potential alternator problems or a failing battery will be indicated by below normal voltages, plus an amber or red light. Extra information is a battery icon graphically showing total battery charge. Tending towards erratic read-outs, and therefore unreliability, it is not the unit's best feature.
  
  Equus's instruction card is easy to understand. The unit is well made, sturdy, easy to connect and to transfer to any 12 volt system not having its own voltmeter. Also, as a supplemental monitor in an RV, or a bigger boat with a remote 12 Volt outlet in a sleeping area far from the main instrument panel, overall battery condition condition can be monitored while camping or at anchor.

  I have a similar device that has an analog display (a needle indicator) but decided I wanted one with a digital voltage readout so I bought one of these. I'm very pleased with it.

  i bought this october 10 2008 and it works good to me shows were and how my volts is at on my battery, i can see the drain if i turn on the radio and not the engine and how volts goes up when engine is running higher RPM. volts is how fast electrons moving per second and amps is how much of a punch is coming.

  I LOVE this thing. It works perfectly, and is very easy to use. I've already ordered a new battery, because I can tell from a simple check that my current one doesn't have too much life left in it.
