Great device, but let's be realistic By A30UDDRL5GASLA on 2007-03-20
I love this Ab Wheel, but some of the reviews here are ridiculous, like when a woman claims it burned off 20 pounds in a month. That's 72,000 calories, or 2400 calories a day. To put that in perspective, you'd have to run 24 miles a day, every day, to take off 20 pounds in a month just through exercise.
Let's say you can use this devise for 3 minutes before you tire out. Heck, give it the benefit of the doubt say 5 minutes. That means it might burn off 50 calories a day. If you did that every day (unlikely, because your abs would want some rest), you could burn off just under half a pound in a month. And that's based on some pretty optimistic assumptions.
So it's not a weight loss device. But it IS a great ab strengthener, better than anything else I've use. It'll tighten up your stomach like crazy, and as long as you do some cardio to burn and keep the fat off, you'll end up with a great, flat, ripped up stomach.
Pretty Simple By A55L0X6H9K8CL on 2007-02-20
Can't really go wrong here. A metal post, some rubber grips, and a couple of wheels. It works great, and was the cheapest I found.
Just a tip, if you've never used it before, don't try to be a tough guy and do a rep from your feet. You may be tough, but you might also hurt your back. Start on your knees until you know for sure you're a tough guy.
Great travel companion By A1VY1TCIYDIEE4 on 2007-05-30
Sturdy, works well, easy to disassemble and toss in a suitcase. The exercise is surprisingly hard, you must have strong abs to begin with, combine this exercise with sit-ups. Must be used on carpet or a towel or something under the knees.
How much more do you have to read? This product works!!! By A2MBSUH2EH1SLB on 2007-05-11
I was in the market for something to get my stomach the way it used to be when i was younger. honestly i was looking for the easy way out. i read reviews on the sauna belt and the slendertone, and thank god those people talked me out of buying it. ive tried the ab ball which works but nothing gave me the results like this product did. the minute i got it i used it and i was hooked. im about average weight with pudge around the belly but after using this product for about 3 weeks if i suck in my stomach a i can definately see muscle forming. Nothing on here beats the price and the results you get. i have a history of a bad back but this product doesn't aggrivate it at all. it's no miracle machine and gets you rock hard abs over night, but it works!!! i'll definitly vouch for this product.
Its the cheapest out there. By A137W8TMUK82DQ on 2007-03-20
I can't believe some companies will charge $86 for the same concept. This one cost $6! Possibly the cheapest in the US market.
Performing this excercise is extremely hard. I first saw this done standing by jackie chan in the movie "gorgeous". You need strong abs and chest to start with, plus good arms to keep balance, if you want to perform at this level.
when you start out on your knees. Be sure to wear gloves, the handles are stiff plastic. Then TRY JUST ONE complete rep and celebrate. If returning to the original position (pinching your abs together) is hard, then try resetting yourself and just concentrate on going down (stretching your back and abs out). Then the next day try 2 reps. Then take a day off. Overdoing will be painful the next morning.
I really recommend doing this excercise as your FIRST workout before working other parts of your body. It would be tough to even hold the thing together after pumping your tri/bicepts or shoulders.
TIP leave an inch gap between the wheels by wrapping some rope around the bar to make the balancing act a lot easier.
Finally, i happy to say after a few months of doing this on my knees i was able to start off from a standing position jackie chan style.
I have pretty strong six pack now, I can take blows from a 10 year old. But i still have a nice sheet of flab over my abs from the lack of running this winter.
Goodluck to those who dare this feat.
- Decent, but there are better
     By A2TQQ8KPTGM9AM on 2006-12-11
I bought this product because it looked a lot smaller than the other similar ab slide/roller/etc devices. I have one of the big, bulky blue ab devices and I love it. Those things have an internal spring that provides some resistance in the movement. Plus they have a much wider wheel base that makes them far more stable than this ab wheel. Overall, those isolate your abs much better and make the workout a lot easier on your arms and wrists than the ab wheel does. So you end up being able to do more reps to target your abs. So if you want a better ab workout, I'd go look at one of those. However, this ab wheel is MUCH smaller and therefore much more portable. I can disassemble it and easily fit it in a suitcase for traveling--which I do a lot. That way I can take it with me and not miss out on my daily ab workout. For that purpose, I love this thing. But because of its drawbacks, I have a feeling if I had ordered this thing as my first ab toy of this type I would have given up in frustration--its simply not sable enough to make this type of exercise comfortable for daily use.
- great ab workout but no miracles expected
     By A2JO14M4FM1GZY on 2007-02-16
This is a great little device to work your abs, but it's not going to give you a six pack all by itself... you need to watch your diet as well. Two tips:
1. make sure you stretch before use; especially your back and shoulders, since they will be getting a workout too.
2. use it on a thick carpet or put a folded towel under your knees; you'll be a lot more comfortable.
All in all, this is far superior to the more expensive ab devices you see on late night TV.
- A Killer
     By AKATDHEPA7FIF on 2007-03-21
This equipment is no joke and it deals out quite a lot of pain for 6 bucks. I decided that it wasn't that hard on the first day and did a couple more reps than a should have. Needless to say, I didn't work my abs for the next 3 days because I was too sore to move them around. Get this and let your friends try it. You'll love the great looks on their faces.
- Does what it says it does, but...
     By A37QUQPYFMR9Y9 on 2008-02-02
FYI, I used to have a pack back in high school which unfortunately was lost due to a lack of activity. I got this device to help with getting it back. This review will be short and simple.
First, let's be clear: IT DOES WORK. If you do three sets of 20 rolls per set, you'll feel the burn the next day for sure. Don't expect miracles overnight though. You're not going to see a full on six pack without working on this device for a while.
Second, so you know, this is nothing more than two wheels with a bar. That's it. You could probably put this together yourself, but why bother?
Lastly, there is only one negative: the hand grips are NOT comfortable. They use the same handles as regular bicycle handlebars which you would assume should be perfect for this application, right? Wrong. The problem with that is this: on a bicycle, your gravity base is centered on the seat, even when you're leaning forward. On this device, even though you're on your knees, your weight becomes distributed (which is why this device also works your arms and shoulders...you're naturally adding more weight as you do the motion, causing you to work harder. If this weren't the case, this device wouldn't work). That means that pressure points are being created on your hands, making for a very uncomfortable situation. If it weren't for that, you could get a lot more effect from your workout (see the Perfect Pushup's grips for an example of what I'm talking about).
So, does it work? Yes. But you won't be able to maximize your workout since the grips will make your hands hurt after a while. Very unfortunate, because it is otherwise a very effective little unit and a great value at the price.
- Just what the chiropractor ordered
     By APTF3V9SLCQ63 on 2007-03-31
This device is exactly what I was looking for. Once you get comfortable enough on your knees, try starting from the standing position; very challanging.
I have to disagree with the "not worth it" review. The whole POINT of this device is to force your body to WORK so a mechanism to make your workout easier would be counterproductive. Stop whinging and do the work.
- THE BEST PRODUCT FOR ABS
     By A1IY2LGQGPUJ82 on 2006-08-11
When I bought the ironman double ab wheel, I was skeptical of the results I would recieve due to it's low price. But it really provides the most amazing ab workout and I have had great results since I started using it. I would recommend it to anyone.
- Simple product with a great idea, but be careful.
     By A3TDKLXKXWETVU on 2008-01-28
The Double Ab Wheel is almost as good as it gets. Its really simple, and its really inexpensive. Best of all, even though I have only been using it for a couple of weeks, it seems to be quite effective. By adding this one new element into the array of ab exercises I do on a (semi)regular basis, there is already a noticeable improvement in my strength and physique. But I should caution you to be careful when using this product. I think that someone, especially with an already weak back, could really hurt themselves. The Ab Wheel requires you to support nearly all of your upper body weight with little more than your core muscles. This is what its designed for and the reason that it works, but I have sometimes felt a slight pinch in my lower back. Just remember to keep your back slightly curled and no not to extend too far forward. Other than that, fork over the seven bucks or whatever it costs and just get it and enjoy your new abs.
- GREAT PRODUCT
     By A3BBWH36AKQD65 on 2007-02-24
I bet you have never felt your abs get demolished the way this will. If you have never used one and/or you are out of shape stay away. I tell my clients that if I am asking them to even do it once it is a compliment and testament to the fitness they have. These things rule, take up no space, are cheap and get you ripped!!! Enjoy!!

Must have a strong back to be able to pull self up. Very Hard! It may hurt your back if you do not do it right. Need to keep doing it to be able to see results. Have not seen my result yet=(
- Ouch! (in a good way)
     By A354E4H1P66GJ2 on 2007-01-09
Don't be fooled by the simplistic design of the wheel- it will leave you feeling sore the next day! The variable stability helps to get the smaller muscles involved as well. Buy it, it is the best money you will spend on fitness equipment!
- The Best Ab Workout!
     By AKH8FT3FITNWW on 2007-01-13
The Ironman Double Ab Wheel is the best way to get ripped, sexy abs without breaking your wallet. I've used the Ab Wheel for a month now and have lost 20 lbs. I admit that it was intense when I first used it because of the immediate burn that I felt but as soon as I got used to it, the fat just shed right off.
- Intense Core Trainer
     By A2DULONXHHZH2V on 2007-02-22
The Ab Wheel will strengthen your abdominals from top to bottom as well as your lower back. It is a very intense exercise - you will not have to spend a lot of time doing the exercise in order to get excellent results. For most individuals (myself included) I recommend starting slowly. Do not try to do a full extension of the exercise. Initially the full extensions put some undue stress on the lower back. With each work out you can extend a little furthur and in no time you will likely build up to full extensions.
- Works
     By A3JQQ2TWTKFVNH on 2007-04-06
This is good! Very tiring after the first 5 roll....but its worth it.
Easy to assemble,simple price,and works!
A must buy!
- Did nothing for me
     By A28BSV6KDF862D on 2007-06-11
Did this for 2-3 weeks about 10 a day but noticed no change in my stomach shape or toning. Just gave me stronger arms, so I haven' used it anymore.
- It is what it is, but why is it so stinky?
     By ASEMDWN1NKBBA on 2007-07-19
It's a simple ab wheel, works as expected but it has this gnarly rubber/grease smell that hasn't gone away after months of ownership.
- Simple, Cheap, Effective
     By A2CWHK4DFWNMLA on 2007-11-08
I've been using this product for several weeks. At first I could only complete 2 or 3 "rolls" at a time before stopping. Now I have worked up to 3 sets of 25.
My favorite thing about this product lies in its simplicity. You can store it just about anywhere either in its assembled or unassembled form. Because I sit in front of my computer for much of the day, I keep it near my desk and use it in various downtimes. Also, it works much more than just abdominal muscles; it challenges your back muscles, arm strength, and overall upper body strength.
Once you make some progress, using this product becomes beneficially addictive.
- It does its job, but no pain, no gain...
     By A1VG7ZKVUVYGCX on 2008-03-23
I've had this product for a couple of months, and I've found that it is an excellent tool for toning my core muscles, and getting my shoulders in better shape. I did however have one big problem with the product - the handles. They are shaped for handgrips, but are rock hard, so I ended up with blisters on my hands every time I used it. Now I wear 30 gram winter gloves to add some more cushioning until I manage to find some type of foam to pad it with. The ab wheels with foam handle pads might be a few dollars more expensive, but you may find it to be worth the cost.
- Works well as in a fix...
     By A3E500Y8JCV9KT on 2006-12-06
I normally opt to use this wheel when I don't get the time to go thru my full workout. It's not magically & won't burn off a spare tire if that's what you need it to do. But it certainly will tighten up your abs if you keep at it. I haven't had my six pack in about a decade (I'll blame my diet & age for that) but, a couple of rolls with this guy & my "two-pack" starts peeking out... lol, I'll settle for that nowadays.
Just becareful if you have lower back problems. These wheels are murder if you fully extend out at the end of the motion. If you need to, you should use a wall to limit/stop the range. Whenever my lower back acts up, I avoid using this wheel for at least a week.
- The Wheel
     By A22OG6QX90YLLN on 2007-01-09
The wheel is an exercise popular in the 70's used to tighten the
abdomen. I saw it at a friends house used as a decorative touch in
a bachelor pad. It is easy to store and because the user decides the
level of difficulty by how far you extend yourself, anyone can use it.
Forget the back ache of sit ups and the monster storage problem of
the ball. I love this product.
- Not worth it
     By A3JGUCMX09WVVY on 2007-01-11
The problem with this wheel is that it is too smooth. There should be some stopping mechanism to stop you at the end of your stretch. Instead you most likely will slide and fall face front on your exercise mat. I've been focussed so hard on not sliding in front that i forget all about the abs. Save your money. Try something else.
- AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
     By AAOXS1ANRKUPA on 2007-09-17
O.K., so you are reading this because of my title. I am glad I got your attention. My roommate had one of these around so I did a couple reps from my knees. It was pretty tough, I fully extended my arms (remember... FROM MY KNEES) and did about ten. It does work the arms, it does work the abs... but what I noticed is how much it works the back and various stabilizers muscle (o.k.... the same thing in essence). I get minor back aches and such from slouching on a couch, but after doing these a couple times a week (30 reps a week period...) I never seem to get that hollow, misaligned back ache anymore despite still being a slouch who does this 30 times a week.
It is a simple, cheap machine. Who cares who makes it as long as it has a wheel and an axle. Like Nikey says, just do some ab rollers.
Good night and good luck.
- Don't be decieved by the simplicity & competitive price
     By AL9FFJE4EQJPA on 2007-12-25
There are lots of ab wheels out there, but santa chose to get me this one. I was skeptical of the quality & durability of this wheel...it's a metal rod, 2 plastic/rubber wheels, and two molded rubber handles. But so far, it seems extremely durable and smooth-rolling.
I'm used to doing over one hundred crunches per set USMC style in addition to leg raises, so I wasn't sure how much this thing was going to add to my workout...boy was I clueless.
This thing works your abs, but equally importantly it works your lower back and parts of your shoulders. Just doing it from my knees, I can barely squeeze out a set of ten.
If you are looking to develop not just abs, but your back & other core components, this thing will do the trick...but more importantly, it will do it for about ten bucks, including shipping.
IMO, this is something almost anyone can afford, and something almost everyone should use.
- Works excellent

Built well and sturdy. If you use this will will get your mid section in shape guaranteed. I am very happy with the product.

- An oldlie but goodie
     By A25H1BDZ74G74U on 2007-08-17
The is a quality example of a traditional ab exercise. It works as it is supposed to. I remember seeing one of these at my grandfather's house when I was a kid. I use the ab wheel along with knee raises on my Ultimate Body Press - Dip Machine / Dip Bars for a complete abdominal workout.
