Fun treasure hunting!

As one reviewer mentioned, this item is small. I hadn't read the dimensions and had pictured it bigger; however, that doesn't diminish the fun -- and it makes it easier to hide! If you understand what you are purchasing, you shouldn't be disappointed. My just-turned-4-year-old doesn't grasp the meaning of the colors and beeps on the treasure map, which change color and beep faster as you approach the hidden treasure. My 6-year-old, though, has been having a blast with this toy. I think it is best suited to the 6- to 8-year age group. If you have children in this age range who can work together cooperatively (take turns hiding and seeking the treasure), I would definitely recommend this.
Very Small!!

Make sure you look at the dimensions on this game before purchasing it - it is very small. It is not meant to put things in, it is mearly a transmitter designed to look like a treasure chest.

I always read the ratings, but this is the first one I have written. We purchased this game for our 2 boys, ages 6 and 4, for Christmas. We thought it would be something that would interest 2 VERY active boys. Boy were we right! This is the best game/activity we have ever purchased for them. They love taking turns with one holding the map while the other hides the treasure (and taking turns is not something that we have had alot of success with in the past!) They have really worked together and have been great about not fighting over who gets to do what since each person has a part. I have never seen them work together like this! We will be having ANOTHER Pirate theme birthday party soon and I anticipate this being a huge success for a treasure hunt game! I cannot recommend this item enough and the price of this, as well as all other toys by Wild Planet, is so reasonable that I just went to the Wild Planet website and ordered the "Pirate Bomb" game!

This is a lot of fun, I like hiding the treasure chest upstairs and then having someone go find it. Very cool!
A Treasure Hunt For Your Little Pirate...It's a Pirate's Life for me!

This toy is nothing short of fantastic! I bought this for my son (A 4 Year old Pirate in Training)a few months ago and from the minute we put the batteries in, it's been the toy of choice at our house. The Pirate's Life Treasure Hunter consists of a small (small enough for a child to easily carry in their small hands) treasure chest which inside reveals a little plastic clear box which I will put a plastic gold coin in for my son and his friends to find once they locate the chest that I've hidden. It also comes with a small electronic "treasure map" which the child holds onto to while searching for the chest. There are little lights on the treasure map which indicate if you are hot (red) or cold (blue) or getting warmer (orange)as you roam the house looking for the hidden treasure chest. The game couldn't be more simple and any child who can understand directions can play this game which is your basic "Hide and Seek" format. You will delight with glee when you see your childs face light up with smiles galore when they not only locate the treasure chest but when they also find whatever little trinket you hide inside. Trust me Matey, you will never run out of hiding places. This toy is a MUST buy for all your Pirates and Pirate Princesses!
- Uninterrupted Super Bowl!

Our grandson and his friends searched for the treasure chest for HOURS yesterday, giving the adults the first uninterrupted Super Bowl in a long time. And we even got into the act during half time. I can't wait until Spring to try this outdoors!

This toy is a really cool version of the game "getting warmer..." On Christmas morning, I hid one half and let my son open the other, so he had to go find it to see what he had received. He loved the toy and enjoys playing with it. One time he put the lid on incorrectly and it took quite a bit of effort for us to get it unstuck, but all in all, it's a great toy.

I bought this for my grandson for Christmas and it has turned out to be the gift he and his brother still play with! Everyone loves a treasure hunt and this is easy enough for all ages to do. My grandson is 5 and his brother is 3 and they have a ball. Even when all the grandkids get together (ages from 10 down) they argue who is going to use the find it box!

I got this for my Nintendo kid so he would let go of the controller and not develop ricketts. My kids, ages 7 and 9, spent hours hiding and finding their treasure. It beeps when the kids get closer to the hiding spot, it worked to find things in the stove, the closed garbage can and outisde inside my car. They absolutely loved it. It is just techy enough to intrigue my 9 year old boy who gave up his Wii for a few hours to play with this. This toy is best played with two kids, a great value and tons of fun.

Bought this for my 5 year old grandson for Christmas. Was a big hit for the whole family. The older boys love to hide the treasure and then have him try to discover where it is. The treasure chest idea fits right in with all the pirate movie themes that are popular right now.

I got this for my 7 year old and it has been a hit in the neighborhood. The kids love hiding it inside and out! A great way to get kids moving!!!

This is such a great idea. It works great. The map lets you by the color of the x if you are cold,warm, or right on target. My 5 year old can't get enough of it. It's playing hide and seek but it opens up the world to many more hiding spots!

Our 5 yr. old daughter loves anything with pirates so when we saw this we thought it would be perfect! When she first started playing with it, she was thrilled. You put the base of the treasure chest in a "hiding spot" and use the top as the "map" to find the treasure. As you get closer to the treasure the "X" on the map blinks from blue (cold) to yellow (warmer) to red (hot) and beeps wildly. Our whole family has had a great time playing with the Treasure Hunter. Well worth the money and easy to bring to Grammy's house too!

This is a hide and seek toy. You hide the treasure, and the child has a hand held finder that tells you if you are close or not. Great here in the PNW where it rains alot, to keep your child entertained indoors. could also be used outside in nice weather.

My son got this neat little toy for Christmas, he was almost 5 and it has provided so much fun. They don't play with it for super long periods, but all of the kids love it, it's pretty neat and I love how it clicks together into a little pirate chest for storage. I will for sure be giving this as a gift in the future!

We bought this treasure box for our son's 5th birthday, but our 6 year old and even our 3 year old have loved playing with it. It is an easy game for any age to play. The box separates, the bottom part is hidden (and has a small 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x about 1/2" deep compartment to put a "treasure") and the top is used to find it. It is small, but I like that for the compact, all-in-one storage. I would be careful with the clear plastic lid that covers the "treasure" compartment...it doesn't attach all that firmly. We lost it once, but luckily found it. The "lock" button that holds the top and bottom parts together has also been occasionally hard to open...my reasoning for the lower "durability" rating. Overall, it's a great toy, the kids all love it, and I'm glad we bought it.

This toy is Fantastic. It reminds us of an old game called Hide the Thimble we play. My two boys had so much fun with this.
You could even play it at birthday parties. 5 Stars for this toy!

Great toy! My 6 and 9 year old love it. As other reviews say it is much smaller than we expected. One problem is that the top and bottom half got jammed together where we could not open it. I finally figured out a work aorund to open it if it gets jamed or locked together. Put a very small computer size flat head screw driver in the lock area crack between the two half and push in. This did the trick to open it.

My 3 and 4 year olds have so much fun taking turns hiding and searching for this. I had planned to give it to my son for Christmas, but pulled it out early when a playdate went south. It was just the distraction they needed!

While this toy is small, it needs to be in order to challenge my five year old and to give me a wide range of places to hide it in. We've played it so much since Christmas that we actually had to replace the batteries already! An excellent toy for the money!

This toy is awesome. My daughters are 6 and 3 and they love it. They take turns hiding and finding it. They also have hidden with it and we have to find them! It's also great that it is a toy that both girls and boys love so it gets a lot of use during playdates! It reminds me of a high tech game of (cold...warm...hot...hotter..).

We bought this toy for our 6-year old niece and were notified immediately upon its arrival at her house that she and her 4-year old brother were having a great time with it! Easy to use right out of the box and great for a multi-child household. We got a big thanks for "always finding the coolest birthday presents"! So we highly recommend it!
