The Garmin StreetPilot C550 already comes with a vehicle power charger. I did not know that when I purchased this one. Don't buy an additional one unless you feel the need for two of them! The one it came with works just fine, so I'll be returning this one.

Fits very snugly into car outlet and make sure that you push it in all the way or proper connection will not be made. Likewise, one has to exert some strength to remove adapter from socket. However, does indeed provide full power to Garmin on long trips.

This order for the Power Adapter was to replace the one I orginally got with my C550. The part which holds the fuse came apart and I thought I lost a piece. Now I have 2, which is good because if I happen to be traveling I have a back-up in case one becomes broken. I really love my Garmin C550 and it has been helpful in finding places in my home town as well as other places I've been traveling. What a great invention!!!

I didn't realize that I got an adapter for the car with my Garmin so I ordered this one. I will keep it for the other vehicle. Recieved it from the vendor very quickly, so I would do business with them again.

The Garmin 12-volt power adapter connects to several Garmin window mounts. The end that plugs into the mount has push button release tabs so that you can't accidently unplug from your 12-volt power supply.

I love my Garmin, but like a previous review mentioned that it "fits snuggly into the outlet". You should be extremely careful when removing the power cord head from your car's outlet. The tip of mine broke and i've had to replace it.

works great but is a little pricey. No third party people making anything.
It would be nice if someone would make a unit that can be hard wired into a car without using the plug in. The plug in has a transformer in it so you can't just cut it off.

This is a replacement for my Garmin Nuvi 680. I losted my vehicle DC power adapter with MSN direct receiver. I don't want to spend more money therefore I ordered this one. Even though it's didn't have MSN direct but it does the job to power my 680.

I was angry about ordering this. The GPS ordering page made it appear like it was a necessary item to order along with the GPS, so I did. Then the GPS arrived, and there was one in the box?
This was deceptive.....and it really angered me.
Amazon did make it right - they refunded everything, but only after I emailed them twice. It was shipped separately, so I had to pay separate shipping on it...etc...
It was a pain - and all because of their deceptive sales approach on the page.

You must have this item if your device will give you traffic information. Never get stuck in interstate traffic again as long as you have this connected to your device.

I have a Streetpilot C580. I was unplugging it one day and the plug hit the console of my car. The tip broke and rendered the plug useless. I looked online and found that the replacement was over one hundred dollars since it had a transmitter to pick up traffic and weather information. I don't use this service and decided to go with the sub-20 dollar C550 plug which works great.

We have a Garmin nuvi 660, adn the part that goes into the lighter broke on the original one we purcahsed. So, we needed a replacement, adn we show this one. We purcahsed it, got it right away (via overnight shipment), and we have used it many, many times. Perfect!

I bought this because I didnt need te fm transmitter cord for all my vehicles as local traffic updates are not available yet in my vicinity and the power cords with the FM transmitter is like $90..
This plugs in and powers the base just like the more expensive one does and now I have the ability to move my Nuvi from base to base without moving the cord in all three vehicles.....:-)

This adapter does work for the Garmin nuvi 660.
However, If You Subscribed to the Traffic Alert, this adapter WILL NOT PICK UP the traffic alerts nor will you even get an icon on your nuvi. There is another fuse in the original adapter that came with your Garmin nuvi that supports the "traffic alert". If your nuvi is still under warranty, Garmin will send you out a repair kit that includes another tip at no charge. They can at their discretion void your warranty if you use another adapter that did not come with your original unit.
Please call 1-800-800-1020 (central time) 8am-7pm technical support. When the "automated person" comes on quickly press 2; then press 1 and you will be placed on hold for the next technician.

works just as it should... it would be great if auto manufacturers would place a 12v socket on the dashboard so there's isn't this long wire hanging around.

This sand-bag type mount for Garmin GPS works great in my Dodge Caravan. It does not slide or move at all even when I round those curves at high speed. Easier and better than window suction cup mount.

This charger is VERY FLIMSY. We used it for about a week before the charging pin section came apart - now it does not work. IF AMAZON READS THIS - I expect a replacement OR my money back.
This so-called OEM is absolutely not worth the $20 you pay - especially for the flimsy construction.

I purchased the replacement charger for the Garmin Nuvi 770. The product is superior to the original since it has metal parts and not the cheap plastic. It was well worth the purchase. Always go to Garmin site to match up the model numbers before you order from a second source. The 770 Nuvi was not listed on the package but the Garmin site verified that the product was the same. Don't even try to repair the old part, there is not a glue out there that will hold it together. I received the part 2 days before the estimated delivery date (standard ground, no upgrade)

ALTHOUGH THE DESCRIPTION FOR THIS PRODUCT SPECIFIES THAT IT IS FOR THE 510 AND 550, IT IS ALSO DESIGNED FOR THE 760, WHICH I USED IT WITH. SINCE WE WERE GOING TO BE FLYING, THEN RENTING A CAR, I WANTED SOMETHING MORE COMPACT THAN THE TRAFFIC RECEIVER THAT COMES WITH THE 760, PLUS I HAD DOUBTS THAT TRAFFIC INFO WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN THE RURAL MIDWEST. SOME OF THE REVIEWS THAT I READ BEFORE PURCHASING THIS ADAPTER, INDICATED THAT IT WAS RATHER FLIMSY AND DIFFICULT TO INSERT AND REMOVE. I DIDN'T FIND THIS TO BE THE CASE AT ALL. THE UNIT SEEMS TO BE PRETTY WELL MADE, AND SLIPPED EASILY AND SECURELY INTO THE LIGHTER SOCKET AND THE POWER OUTLET IN THE RENTAL CAR. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT FOR ALL APPLICABLE GARMIN UNITS, AND PARTICULARLY AS A MORE COMPACT ALTERNATIVE TO THE TRAFFIC RECEIVERS SUPPLIED WITH SOME UNITS.

Nice to have an extra power cord. Mine came with the GMT-20 that has the FM traffic receiver, but I don't need that feature, so I usually use this cord.

While I blame Amazon for advertising "Better together" , for the reason I purchasesd the cable, I found it was an expense to return an unneeded cable as the same cable comes with the Garmin GPS. The seller wants me to pay the expense of returning it plus a restocking fee. Since my purchasing it Amazon has changed their ad. However in three E Mails to Amazon I got flowering responses saying tough.
