Monster MP OTG400 BK Outlets To Go Power Strip, 4 AC Outlets (Black)x$9.50

(61 reviews)

Best Price: $9.50

Frequent travelers see the problem often: Not enough outlets in a hotel room. Everyone knows you can carry an ordinary power strip, yet most travelers don't. Why not? Ordinary power strips are bulky, cumbersome things, with thick dangling cords and boxy dimensions that make carrying in a thin laptop case almost impossible. Designed for travel from the ground up, the award-winning Monster design team created a truly portable outlet strip: Outlets To Go. Exclusive Monster features include ultra-flat design with FlatProfile Plug, FlatWrap Cord, and space-saving 4-outlet Dual-Side layout with 2 wide spaced outlets on both sides. Outlets To Go is so light and thin, you'll take it everywhere. Outlets to Go will provide safe charging for up to four devices, and prevents overloads with its resettable circuit breaker. You'll have peace of mind knowing that all your portable devices are ready, every day and every night, when traveling with Outlets to Go. MPN: MP OTG400 BK - UPC: 050644448379

  • Does not work overseas

    By A2OHUSS7AIREAV on 2008-06-07
I purchased this, assuming that if it was marketed for travelers, and thus it would work overseas. In the future, I'll have to always check tech specs before buying. It works great in the US (110v). It's compact, has five outlets that allow for transformers, and packs in luggage well. However, it does not work with other overseas voltages (220v). In the past, I've always traveled overseas with 1 or 2 universal travel adapters, and a US power strip so that I can plug in my computer, cell phone, PDA, camera, video camera, etc. all at the same time. This works well, as many power strips don't have any electronics in them. They simply transfer the power from wall to the outlets. Of course, power strips are more bulky than this item, and one must ensure all electronics plugged into it are 220v compatible. I didn't notice the "reset" button on this device until I tried to use it overseas and blew the breaker in my room. This is so that if you overload it, you can unplug something and then simply reset it, rather than having to buy a fuse. It also caused the fuse to blow in the Kensington universal adapter that I plugged it into. This is a good item for travel in the US, but don't plan on using it overseas.

  • Worth the money

    By A1Y85GQ09Y95JL on 2007-11-13
This surge protector does what it is supposed to and is very portable. The build quality is great; unlike other units it doesn't come unplugged easily. it also has a nice blue light indicating it is on.

There are only 2 drawbacks; it doesn't have an on/off switch and doesn't have covers for the unused sockets. Other than those minor issues it has preformed great in the UK with 3 different adapters!

  • Just the right size.

    By A2BQD22UNX0ERZ on 2007-01-03
It's 6" long with a 12" power cord that wraps around the length of the outside and plugs into one of the four outlets for travel. Sturdy and compact, small enough to fit easily in any kind of bag. It was perfect for our trip to France where we needed multiple outlets on one adapter to charge batteries for our cameras.

  • Travel Essential--AMAZING!

    By A3CNP3O0PLA3YE on 2007-10-04
I am a road warrior and this little outlet is invaluable for my travels and enables me to quickly power up in hotel rooms without enough outlets. I have a PC, Blackberry, iPod and always need juice. Also, a KEY benefit if for international travelers--this allows you to charge up to four US devices off of one adapter! My colleagues are jealous of me. Fits easily in to my satchel. Buy one today!

  • Works as Advertised

    By A2GQJR2RKPLS0 on 2006-08-04
It folds up small enough to keep in my laptop backpack and I can plug in the laptop, phone charger, etc... Convenient, small, useful, cheap = 4 Stars.

  • Great for Crusing
    By A2BSM4BV5XH63D on 2007-03-11
I picked this up to use on a Mediterranean cruise since the outlets in cruise ship cabins are scarce and usually located right at the edge of a vanity. It worked great for charging 2 digital camera batteries which wouldn't fit in the normal outlet at the same time. It's small, rugged and light so it's easy to pack.

  • Very useful, but for world travel plan ahead
    By A1D8I8AXZ9NY22 on 2007-05-24
The OTG400 was intelligently designed by someone who knows that battery charging bricks need more space around each plug. The short power cord keeps packing space minimal. The only problem is that the plug is grounded and most plug adaptors designed for abroad are made to fit on two prong plugs. So either find plug adaptors for grounded plugs or just run to Radio Shack and buy a grounded to two prong adaptor.

But don't let this small inconvenience stop you from buying this product, you'll use it everytime you travel.

  • Monster Solution
    By A39JI0UT5HQ7V2 on 2007-03-09
I am the envy of my road warrior coworkers. This power strip is great due to the little room it takes in the carry on and the luxury of having an extra four power outlets available in the hotel room. Keeping all the "wall wart" plugged into the power strip is also a reminder not to leave any of the chargers plugged into a hidden receptacle behind the night stand. This is a great organizing tool.

  • A Traveller's Review
    By A2WBF0ASGS7GRH on 2007-03-31
I travel overseas a lot for my job. This little power strip is compact and enables you to keep ONE adapter on the end of it to plug into the funky wall plug and then use your "normal" plugs for operating four devices. Most Monster products are terribly overpriced and not worth the money (wires, cables, etc.) but this gizmo rocks!

  • Does exactly what it it supposed to do
    By ADLJZQPOB2EBU on 2007-04-22
I've been wanting a product like this for a very long time. Hotel rooms never seem to have enough outlets on their work desks (or the outlets are too close together to accomodate chargers, powerbricks, etc.) This doesn't provide a real extension cord, but it is compact and the outlets are well spaced. I now bring it on all of my out of town trips.

  • Compact and Effective Power Strip
    By A2BJLE3FZBDE8S on 2008-02-08
This is one compact and useful power strip. I bought this power strip based on all the positive reviews I read on this site. I bought it for carrying it on my India trip. I am currently using the power strip for charging my laptop (100-240 V adapter). I'm using it with the Belkin F8E449 Universal AC Travel Adapter in India (with 220 Volt outlets). The blue light faded after a few days, but I wouldn't care less, because otherwise it seems to work very well. It has 4 outlets that are spaced wide apart even to accommodate bulky adapters. It also has a built-in circuit-breaker with a reset button. It does not have an ON/OFF switch but I didn't need one for my kind of use. The build quality is excellent, and the cord is heavy duty. It is light and the foot long cord wraps around and fits nicely into any laptop bag. I would strongly recommend this for all travelers (domestic or international).

  • All In One Place!
    By AWPODHOB4GFWL on 2008-06-21
You're traveling with your laptop, cell phone, GPS unit, electric toothbrush, electric shaver, iPod and who knows what else. They all need recharging, so you have one stuck in each socket of your hotel room. You are all over the place. This 6-outlet unit can fit anywhere in your suitcase or bag and only weighs about a ½ pound. It only measures 11 inches X 3 inches. All your rechargeable devices are in one spot and you are sure to never leave anything behind. The plugs are 24k gold-plated, which means they won't corrode. This is also great at home under your computer or stereo system or anywhere. For the price and size, this little unit is a very very convenient device.

  • Great Portable Power Strip
    By A8PA3OZ0G61JF on 2006-10-12
This power strip is quite compact and easily transported with a laptop. It's great for travel and working in a coffe shop. I'm thinking about carrying a separate extension cord because the built cord is really short, but the smallness is part of its attraction.

  • Great little power strip
    By A1CA2JP5A2SJNY on 2006-11-04
This is a great little power strip that allows me to maximize the contents of my briefcase. One of the most useful things I have ever bought for business travelling. Very well made. I would give it 5 stars if it was a little less expensive.

  • Right size
    By AF8GACL3AOLPU on 2007-03-17
I was so glad to run across this product. I always have such trouble when I travel connecting all of my devices in hotel rooms. I can easy fit all 6 of my devices with their big AC plugs into it. Wish it came in black like the "Outlets to go power Strip 4" does...oh well.

  • Ideal for the road warrior.
    By AH0IIQG2EFQRS on 2007-03-23
In my never-ending search for smaller and lighter travelling accessories, I have tried many power strips. This is absolutely perfect for my purposes!

I have not yet found a more compact strip. Not only that, but the design of two widely spaced outlets on each side of the strip permits me to attach ALL my DC converters. This is something I usually can't accomplish with a SIX outlet conventional strip.

The four outlet stip actually takes up so little space in my carry-on that I am planning to buy the six outlet version before my next trip.

Tiny, incredibly well designed, solidly engineered, and light. What's not to like? Highly recommended.

  • Great notebook power strip, outlets are away from the wall.
    By A3KK8AG2KEMTDN on 2007-10-07
I've been looking for a notebook power adapter like this for months. The plug is on a sturdy cord which places the power strip body several inches away from the wall. No more single unit power strips which can hide outlets because they have to be plugged into the wall sideways.

There are 4 available 120v 3-prong outlets, no phone or co-ax outlets. And when stored, the power cord wraps around the length of the power strip and plugs into one of the outlets. It has a trip reset button.

Small, neat, easy to carry and use. Anyone with a laptop would definitely love this!

  • nice small power strip
    By APTDALGFPQJRD on 2007-10-13
I take this power strip with me when I travel. I'm often the most popular guy in the airport terminal. It folds up small and is light enought to carry around.

Nice touch: The LED on the plug so that I can immediately determine that the electric outlet is live. Much better than relying on the laptop to tell me that it's getting power.

  • don't buy it, after 5 months it does not work
    By A1M6C11L2S073 on 2007-11-08
I am very unhappy with product. It does not work after 5 months of use and maybe 4 trips.

  • Very helpful, but note the voltage
    By A2EZV93JFHGPAZ on 2008-05-13
I bought two of these and found them to be very helpful. There are never enough outlets in hotel rooms or airports. I am always concerned about damage to my electronics when I travel. I love the re-set feature on them. And, I love that they are compact for packing. I will be carrying one with me wherever I go.

The description on the web site is not clear that these are NOT FOR 220 VOLTS. These are for 110 VOLTS.

  • Great for travelers
    By A28BJWSSXC2MJE on 2007-05-17
Finally, a product for the traveler with a virtual office. All electronics plugged into one location. Plus, minimal space in suitcase.

Works Great!!!! Easy for travel.Monster MP OTG400 BK Outlets To Go Power Strip, 4 AC Outlets (Black)

  • Good little item
    By A3ICYGSFNTO9UQ on 2007-08-31
Compact; has small lead that may dangle from outlet. Has a nice blue light that glows all the time. Have had for 3 months - no problem so far, and shouldn't have any problems as it's a fairly straigthforward piece of electronics.

  • Handy...but
    By AG4WJLXLAPQXQ on 2007-09-05
Device is just what it looks like and works fine.

Pros: small, compact, light, 6 plugs right where you need them. It lives in my laptop bag.

Cons: short cord, you may need an extension (this is also a Pro, of course). No On/Off switch. You need to unplug it from the wall if you use it on something that's subject to over charging or that you don't want to leave hot all the time.

  • Very handy but a little heavy
    By A1ZXDHX12A318D on 2007-09-07
I have only used this product on one trip but I found it very handy. It allows the large blocks found on many electronics plenty of room. I also like the blue light that is in the plug. In a motel room, if you need to get up in the night, it give just enough light to see where you are going. The only negative thing I could say about it is that it is pretty heavy. Good piece of travel equipment for plugging in a laptop, cell phones, etc.

  • Outlets to Go Power Strip rocks
    By A2NN3702IV0GG5 on 2007-10-03
We always take a power strip on vacation. This time, since we were traveling for three weeks, I thought I'd try a lightweight one. This strip is great. It's tiny, neat, easy to pack, and it really held 6 plugs. The fact that there are four "end spots" makes it easier to connect large adapters.

  • Excellent travel gear
    By A23DT6NNRGZ9RL on 2007-10-25
I do a fair amount of travel and the hotels never seem to have enough electrical outlets for my many tech gadgets, i.e. laptop, cell, headset, ipod, travel speakers, etc...one may say I am on overload, but I do like my toys.

This power strip is definitely a must have for the road warrior...or any traveler that runs into this same frustration. This handy device packs up small and gives me 4 outlets. Since it comes from Monster, I trust the quality.

One negative I would add is that it lights up the entire room with a blue glow. If you are like me and need a dark room to sleep, I suggest you just throw a sock over it. The usefulness of the device outweighs the glow.

  • Perfect for organization of power cords
    By A21OTH2LUE1NJ on 2007-12-11
I am the comms officer on a Navy ship and space in my stateroom is limited. I found this item to be perfect for organizing power cord clutter. It has a very short power cord, flat receptacles, and the unit is easy to move out of the way to provide more desk space. The added plus is an illuminated, blue, light on the receptacle plug which provides a ready indication that power is on. I purchased two units and use them together. One of the best products of its kind.

  • A great product for the business traveler
    By A1R95ZWE5NK26Q on 2008-01-12
For anyone who travels with a laptop, cell phone, iPod, projector, etc. Monster's Outlets to Go is a great investments given the normal lack of AC outlets in most hotels. Monster has executed a great design, which has made it light, compact, and easy to store. It is also very high quality--you could probably pull a truck with it. I liked it so much I purchase 2 more.

  • Not a surge protector
    By A1JPNP5SHCM0ZE on 2008-08-04
The small size of this power strip is very handy, but what I didn't realize when I ordered it is that it is not a surge protector. Now it's not much use to me because I won't use my laptop without a surge protector.
