  I purchased the DB5000 to store all of those patio accessories that just seem to "build up". The deck box holds my chair cushions, candles and all of those kids toys. It's a great item to keep the patio looking clean

  We purchased the Suncast DB5000 Deck Box over a year ago. I'm pleased to report that it has held up to the Houston heat, humidity, and rain extremely well. This is a great box for storing all of those "miscellaneous things" that tend to clutter one's patio. Only one disappointment: we recently purchased patio furniture, and this box is not big enough to hold any of the cushions. So if you are thinking about buying this for patio cushions, be sure to measure your cushions FIRST and compare it against this box's inner dimensions. But in terms of functionality, and keeping things neat and waterproof, this box is a wonderful asset!!

  This is a very sturdy and useful patio storage box. I had read reviews about it being water tight, and YES it is. Where I have mine sitting it does get lots of rain and NOT ONE DROP has entered the inside of this box. So glad I bought it!!!

  I purchased two of these deck boxes, exactly for the reason the title indicates---to be used on our deck. The boxes were extremely easy to put together and to date have served us well. We keep our bird food in one of the boxes and have no problems with dampness or leakage. The box itself is attractive and does not add an unsightly element to the deck. Although we have not used them as seats, I'm sure they can be used as extra seating if needed (they are very sturdy). The boxes are large, but not huge. If you want to store all of your chair cushions in the box, you might need two (depending on the size of the cushions). I'm quite confident, however, that any item placed inside the boxes would remain dry. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for attractive outdoor storage for the deck.

  I am disappointed with this product, but glad I didn't pay full price. I don't think it's worth $50.00 let alone the regular price of $100.00. The "stay dry design" is partially true...the rain runs off the domed lid, however, the construction is not "air tight". The bottom is not a solid piece so items you store inside are still vulnerable to the elements.
  The fact that no tools are needed means it basically snaps together.

  I don't know if this item has been discontinued or not, but I see that it's now on clearance here at Amazon. I ordered two of these after reading the reviews about how great they were. Let me tell you, I'm NOT mechanically inclined at all and it took me literally three minutes to put each one together (I was timed). Furthermore, there is so much more space in them than I expected and, although it says on the instructions that it is not a toy box, it holds so many toys that I can actually now see both the living room floor and my son's bedroom floor! Not only that, but it's sturdy enough to push around the house with all of the toys inside of it. A piece of junk this item is NOT. I'm so pleased with them, that I am now going to buy the suncast hose reel/cover to match the deck box I got for outside. Suncast is a fabulous manufacturer.....I'm sold for life! Oh, and the free shipping - HUGE bonus!

  The Suncast Deck Box is the second Suncast product we have recently purchased. Our first purchase was Suncast's Steel-Core Hose Reel Cart. We have been very satisfied with both items. The deck box is being used as a place where delivery packages from Amazon, among other places, can be safely placed out of the rain and snow. Our UPS deliverman thought it was a great idea. We placed it by our back door and use it as a table to hold any packages we bring home while we unlock the door. This Suncast Deck Box, like the Suncast Steel-Core Hose Reel Cart and our Rubbermaid Platinum Small Deck Box, was a snap for my husband to put together (pun intended). It is sturdy and, after using it, we are planning on buying a second one. ~ Mrs. B.

  This was just what I needed to store my garden and patio items.Easy to snap together, easy to move around and very, very water proof. These boxes sit under gutters of a rental cottage that have not been cleaned for years. Water pours onto these boxes any time it rains and yet everything inside stays dry.highly recommend if you need additional outdoor storage.
  
  
• Almost worth the price.

  I saw this item for 50% off at amazon and decided it was worth the risk to pick up and try out. Out of the box, this is comprised 6 poly-resin panels and seem fairly rigid. There is zero hardware needed for assembly and I was able to put this together in less than 10 minutes. It has now been outside for over a week with no discoloration or weathering.
  
  The main drawbacks really are the cheap assembly, the hinges don't feel strong and the bottom isn't really secured by anything other than gravity. Also there really isn't a way to do a padlock on this. In the end it was slightly overpriced at 50% off and way overpriced if you paid full...
  
  
• Great Outdoor Storage!!

  I needed a box for my grandchildren's outdoor play area. This fit the bill perfectly. I HATE to read directions and put things together! This was so easy to assemble! 5 minutes! No tools! The top stays put when in the upright position so you don't have to hold it and in my case, it doesn't fall on my babies' heads. And very roomy! Holds plenty of large outdoor toys! Sturdy enough to sit on also. Great for South Florida rain! I highly recommend this box by Suncast and Amazon's price could not be beat!

  I have a small child at home and his toys are always all over our lawn. This strudy deck box is just what we needed to store not only his toys, but hoses, lawn equipment and other household junk. It's bigger than it looks and I like the idea that it's weatherproof, so it should last me a long time.

  Last Spring ('01) we purchased this deck box for our new pool deck. It worked just as planned for keeping all the kids' pool toys hidden from view when they weren't using them. At the end of the swimming season we moved it to our front porch and used it to store lots of our boys' outdooor toys (balls, jump ropes, bats and gloves, etc.) This year we're buying another one for the swimming pool deck (again!) I don't know how we ever lived without an outdoor storage chest and these boxes are perfect for the task. In addition to an "OK" price, they're a snap to put together (10 minutes at most).

  I have shopped for an item like this for years, after the cheap Rubbermaid container I got (of a similar size) cracked due to sun damage in its second year. This looks like a good deal, comparable to the best bargains I have found. But some catalog items I have found indicate that the plastic is UV-resistant, which is essential if plastic items are to be kept outside for years of use. I am hoping someone who has used this item for a while (at least two years!) can comment on its durability.

  Do not buy this box. The first one arrived damage and the replacement was damaged as well. Amazon stated the box is more problematic than thought and can't send a third to replace it. Great! I waited for three weeks and still don't have a box. I will go to the grocery store and get a cardboard box for free!

  This product is great I bought it to store the pool stuff in and it looks great. It makes a very sturdy extra seat or two and goes together in a matter of just a couple of minutes. I had it assembled and in use on the deck in under 5 minutes and most of that was opening the box.

  Perfect for what I needed for my deck.. After seeing my brothers storage benches he just purchased I started looking for a replacement for a corner deck storage container that leaks..When I read a few reviews for this product I actually ordered 2. I put the first one together in about 3 minutes and then turned the hose on it to check for leakage..Guess what?? NONE.. It is not too big and not too small.. I put all my things(yard bug sprays,garden things, spare outdor lights, radio etc.. from my corner shed in this with room to spare. The other one will be used for the summer outdoor kids stuff or my cordless tools/toys. It looks nice (being one solid off white color) and also delivered in a few days. But the BEST is the terrific price!!! I got 2 for less than the price of 1 that my brother got. I am very pleased.. Colleen
  
  
• Sturdy, But Somewhat Small

  The Suncast DB5000 is sturdy and easy to assemble. I use it alongside the pool to keep vacuum hoses and other pool supplies nearby but out of sight, and it definitely suits my purpose. If you're looking for a deck box to store furniture cushions or other large items, you'll want to consider alternative products. I find the product to be an excellent value, and Amazon's price was considerably lower than any of the other retailers I checked.

  I put this together in about 5 minutes and it's sitting on my back porch right now. It's strong enough for a 200lb person to sit on comfortably and it's roomy enough inside for all my pool equipment, pool toys, and other miscellaneous things that were sitting around making a mess. The porch looks great now without all of the clutter! I'm thinking of buying a second one since I liked this one so much.

  I ordered two of these at Christmas time, one for myself and one as a gift. BOTH arrived damaged. The packaging tells how to order replacement parts--apparently breakage is an on-going problem--but no phone number for Suncast. I expected a durable, usable box and neither of us got what we expected. Two thumbs down.

  I love this storage container !! What a great price for it too. Forget ordering the ones that cost 700 dollars ! I will warn you about one thing, I couldn't put it together when I first got it. I thought, this thing is terrible, then I called the suncast company and asked for help. common mistake when following directions is putting the bottom side groove side up. Put the pretty side up and everything snaps right into place. This part just wasn't very clear in the directions. I completely recommend this item.

  I puchased one of these deck boxes 3 summers ago for our pool area and have used it to keep beach towels & boom box in. I leave those items in there year round and have never had a problem with anything getting damp or wet and no bugs or critters. I have recently purchased one to use on the deck for my chair cushions but it wasn't large enough for all of my cushions. I went to Target yesterday to puchase another one but they did not have any more out. I hope that I will still be able to obtain another one.

• Great item, not confined to Deck or Patio use

  I have purchased Suncast products before so I was aware of the quality and ease of assembly. I am using the DB5000 Deck Box on ground level with its primary purpose being to house a light weight small auto vacuum ( wheeled Sears shop vac type). No more lugging the vacuum from inside the house and back again. Located 10' from 3 vehicles, no excuse for a weekly interior cleanup. Perfect fit and Water proof ( has not leaked yet). One minor problem for this application was when placed on the mulch the floor of the box did rise up ( its placed in, not locked in) The cure was putting a small 2"x6"brick under each leg of the box, keeping the box level and the floor in place.
