Lansinoh 20435 Breastmilk Storage Bags, 25-Count Boxes (Pack of 4)x$17.25
    (73 reviews)
Best Price: $29.96 $17.25
Expressing breast milk from work takes a lot of time and dedication, so anything that will make the process easier is appreciated by moms. Storing milk in bottles takes up valuable freezer space and means that you have to keep purchasing more and more bottles to build up your stash of food for baby. These plastic breast milk storage bags come pre-sterilized, and are easy to carry around--as they’re not much bigger than a travel pack of tissues. In fact, they come in a tissue-style dispenser, making them easy to access and store. Each bag stores up to 6 ounces, or 180 milliliters of milk, and seals tightly to preserve freshness. Bags lay flat in the freezer saving plenty of space for more milk or other foods. Milk transfers easily from bag to bottle with no spillage. A tab above the fill area lets you write the express date, volume of milk, and the name of your child (in case you are handing it off to a busy daycare provider for feedings) on the bag without worry that you may puncture and contaminate your milk with ink. For moms who have to temporarily store their milk in a busy office refrigerator, a tamper-evident safety seal on each bag informs you if someone has been in your supply. Each box includes 25 storage bags. --Cristina Vaamonde

BPA Free By A1IBKN1GXYJ3K4 on 2008-04-17
For those concerned about BPA: the Lansinoh and Medela breastmilk storage bags are both BPA free.
(BPA for those that missed the news reports is a chemical found in some plastics that a recent National Toxicology Program report indicated may be harmful, especially to infants.)
a must have for working lactating mommies By A1Y5096X8DVORS on 2007-11-24
I used hundreds of these bags when I went back to work and pumped almost exclusively for five months. Out of all those only one leaked on the seam. I froze almost all that I pumped and really liked how these were able to lay flat for storage. I also liked the double zip to ensure no leakage either. I did not measure according to the bag but instead used the ounce markings on the bottles I was pumping into and then wrote the amount and date on the label with a Sharpie. This was much more accurate and quicker to figure out than looking at the bag to determine how much was in it. Thawing was quick and easy. Much faster than thawing from a frozen bottle. I never used another brand so I cannot compare. Lansinoh bags worked so well I saw no need to try another brand. Price was great too! I had several left over after I finished pumping so I saved them and used them to freeze pureed carrots, peaches, pears, etc. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a reliable and cost effective storage bag.
No leaks here... By AQV9CHFI079SK on 2006-07-17
I have found these bags to be the best ones out there. They are thicker mm of plastic, have a double seal and a separate area to write on to avoid ink contamination. In my opinion, they are also much easier to pour to/from than other brands.
I also appreciate how they lay flat for more space-efficient storage. They have held up very well in my deep freeze in arctic temperatures!
I have used approximately 900 bags (seriously) and I have had only 4 that leaked. While I was sorry to lose those bags, I consider 4/900 to be pretty impressive odds.
There are only 2 drawbacks to this product - they have limited availability (so far I have only found them in my area at Target) and they are more expensive than other brands. However, I will pay that price to store my "liquid gold"!
If you are continually having difficulty with leaking bags, make sure you are freezing no more than 6 ounces at a time. Even though it looks like it will hold more, the milk will expand in the freezer. Also, you may want to freeze smaller quantities of milk so that there is less waste. You want to ensure that your baby will drink all that you defrosted, rather than having to discard it. I found it helpful to freeze some amounts in larger quantities, like 4 or 6 ounces and then smaller "top off" amounts for 2 or 3 ounces. Smaller amounts also less time to thaw...although this means you will use more bags.
I haven't had any issues with taste, but I guess every baby is different...
The BEST!!! By A3A70XIK1V9AN2 on 2006-08-21
As a mom of a 30 weeker preemie I have been and will continue to do a lot of pumping and storing breast milk. I started out using the bags that I got for free at the NICU, but they were such a hassle to try to seal them with a piece of tape.
These are the best that I have found. They are the most expensive, but definately worth it. The NICU has a double bagging policy for all the milk that they use, but they made an exception for me since these bags work so well.
They are so sturdy. They fill and pour easily. The plastic is very thick to prevent freezer burn. They have a double seal that prevents leaking.
For me, breast milk is too valuable to be skimping on cheap bags. A great investment!
Sturdy, spacious and well-designed By A20PK01XA5J94S on 2008-02-11
I love these bags. I have tried the Medela bags too, but these are far better.
The double-ziploc closure makes me feel confident that there won't be any leaks.
The larger size bag leaves plenty of room for expansion when freezing, and allows me to lay the bags flat in the freezer, then store them sideways like index cards - that makes for a nice organized freezer, and saves space compared to the bulging rounded blobs that the medela bags become.
I am also impressed with the durability of the plastic, I once accidentally caught the edge of the bag in the zipper of my little transport cooler. The zip teeth chewed into the plastic a bit, but after I disengaged them, I was surprised to find that it hadn't made a hole. Obviously I moved the milk into another bag to be safe, but I was impressed at how well it held up.
Plenty of space to write name, date and volume on the the bag.
The only thing I don't like about these bags is the twee "My mommy's milk" crayon-style writing on them. The medela bags do allow you to pump directly into them, but I have never trusted the little plastic strap to hold the weight of milk, so losing this feature isn't a big deal to me.
- These are the best storage bags out there.
     By A3OWGC31UVE9LS on 2006-05-28
My friends and I have tried all brands of milk storage bags and agree that these are the best.
Lansinoh bags have 2 ziplock strips at the top and are quite a bit thicker than Gerber bags. Both are self-standing, but when you freeze them standing up, you get a sphere of frozen breastmilk at the bottom of the bag.
I freeze all of my Lansinoh bags laying flat. They are easier to store and, with a larger surface area for the milk, freeze quicker and more evenly. With a flat pouch of milk it's easy to flip through a bunch and pick out the appropriate bag to defrost.
I never even tried the Medela CSF bags as there's no ziplock (just twist-ties) and, thus, no way to freeze flat. My friends have tried them and prefer the Lansinoh.
- Best bags I've used
     By ASY0IFFUAG8IU on 2006-08-23
I definitely like these bags more than the Medela ones and the "First Year" ones. I haven't tried the Gerber ones. I like the double zipper, the thickness of the bag, and being able to store the bags flat in the freezer. The "First Year" bags leak. I used the Medela ones to pump directly into the bags but then they get used up very quickly because I pump both sides at the same time. I bought plastic storage boxes and I stack the bags to store them in the freezer. I've dropped them a few times--no leaks! no breaks! A very clean, sturdy way to freeze your breastmilk that takes up less space in the freezer.
- I've tried most, and these are the best!
     By A5KZ0PBTPNMVR on 2006-08-24
I highly recommend these to any women needing to freeze breast milk!
When my son was born, I knew I wanted to breast feed, but after struggling for two weeks, I understood why women give up. I had started pumping to increase my supply, but continued to pump and feed my son only breast milk from a bottle. I tried every bag I could to freeze in, even regular zipper freezer bags, as I eventually got about a week ahead. (I was told the other zippers were just as good, and cheaper.) After many (heartbreaking) leaking bags, cost didn't matter. I stopped rotating and just froze the extra. Now with a freezer FULL at five months, my fears of running dry are alleviated a bit. Recently I had to use frozen milk for a couple days, and we had no problem with thawing, taste or leaky bags. (and now I have room in the freezer to try to start making and freezing baby food!)
My son's present and future health are well worth the extra cost.
- Great storage bags
     By AZN2IPFWZSPMR on 2006-11-06
These bags are the best I've tried, although I haven't had reason to try many. I found these quickly through other reviews, and they work great. No twist-ties to fool with, you can lay them flat and not worry about them leaking because they have double zip-lock seals. They thaw quickly when frozen flat, and they are easy to fill and to pour from. Easy to store in a rectangular plastic container, which saves room in your freezer.
- Leaks, leaks, leaks
     By A30RKZD2DHEEVR on 2007-01-04
We bought these because we liked the safety of the double-zipper. But it doesn't do much good when the bags leak. 10%-20% of the time the bags leak when you defrost. Why take that risk with your "liquid gold".
- These are the best bags out there, but they still aren't good enough
     By A399Q630JPRL57 on 2007-03-09
I chose these bags partly because of the reviews that I read on this website and because they made economic sense. I gave birth to a premature infant who was unable to breastfeed. I have pumped everyday btwn 6-8 times a day since she was born and was blessed to have an ample milk supply. However, when thawing these bags out I found that I was losing sometimes 4 and 5 bags of at a time due to leakage not from the double seal at the top, but from a seam at the bottom. I later tried some of the other bags out there and found that yes, these bags are better than their competitors, but they were not good enough for me. I have worked way too hard to provide my child with nourishment only to have it leak all over the place. My solution was to use bottles. They too have disadvantages (take up more room in the freezer), but I feel that they are a better choice.
- Leaked upon defrosting
     By AMS5AAPJFCE76 on 2006-10-16
At first, I thought these bags were great. However, after making the time to pump everyday for months, I found that 75% of these bags leaked upon defrosting. The seams on the edge of the bags split (or had holes), and my precious breastmilk leaked all over the fridge over and over again. I do not have a recomendation for a better product, but if you are considering using these or if you are currently using these, I would consider something else . These are extremely dissapointing.
- Better than the Gerber bags
     By A21NLLBMR6LYAS on 2007-02-16
These bags are much sturdier and thicker than the Gerber bags. You also don't have to cut the bags open after defrosting/heating them up. Amazingly they are cheaper than the Gerber bags too! I've used them for several months and haven't had one leak yet. But I am pretty careful and store the milk bags flat in tupperware containers in the freezer.
- milk picks up the plastic taste
     By A2OPYDJSYBKDZ5 on 2006-06-04
I have been freezing leftover of my milk for three months. When I first fed my son thawed milk from a bag the moment it touched his tongue he screemed and spit it out. I tried to mix it half and half with fresh milk and still same result. I thought maybe he is just picky but I tasted the milk and it was awful. It twas very different from the fresh stuff all I could taste was a strong flavor of plastic.
I tried the Avent storage bottles and he gulped down the whole bottle. I wish I knew this to begin with. It would have saved me the heartbreaking moment of tossing three months worth of frozen milk to the trash can.
One star only because it has to be rated on the scale of 1-5.
- Best I have used
     By A35NXKN3EJDGBP on 2007-01-11
I have used several other brands of breastmilk storage bags and they do not seem to hold up the greatest in the deep freezer. I store my milk in the deep freeze with other foods and have a husband and a son who search in the freezer for popcicles or ice cream and push things around with out caution. This has caused the bags of other brands to tear. This has never happened with the Lansinoh brand. I definately recommend them!
- Leak out 1/2 the time and inaccurate measurement
     By A19Y3RIK8GJGQ5 on 2007-05-18
These bags are ok, but do tend to leak out when you freeze them! Also, the measurement on the bag is deceiving. The bag showed 6 ounces, I really only had 4!! I would stay with the Medela plastic bottles for freezing milk. They last longer in the freezer!
- best milk storage
     By AK9HKZLVNNIOA on 2008-02-17
very durable product. I'm able to store more milk in this bag than the Gerber milk storage bag. It's very thick than i expected. I'm very happy with this product.
- The best bags for storing breastmilk
     By ADTQGDXT5HKNS on 2008-02-26
These are the best bags that I have come accross for storing breastmilk. These hold up in the freezer and they don't leak. They also have a spot at the top of the bag to write how many ounces are in the bag and your child's name if you wanted. They ziploc shut very well, too. I like to lay my bags flat in the freezer and when they freeze I have a nice slim, flat container of milk which saves space in the freezer and thaws quicker. Then I take all of the frozen milk bags and put them in a ziploc freezer bag. I used Medela bags (free sample) thinking that since they are such a trusted name in nursing supplies I would have no problems. I had colostrum pumped and stored in the Medela bags. When I warmed the milk in a container of warm water the bag must have burst and all of my precious colostrum was in the container of water and lost for good. I was so disappointed and right then and there I promised myself that I would stick with these bags which have been so tried and true to me for a while now. I will not experiment again, these bags are it for me.
- Lansinoh Breastmilk storage bags
     By A3LMJBXJU79YJ9 on 2008-03-11
I find these especially useful and purchased them for their BPA-free traits. I use them not only for freezer storage but also in the refrigerator and for travel. Yes, they do no accurately measure the amount of breast milk contained, however I make a point to always freeze 6 ounces based on my pump container. I like to freeze them flat so that they are stackable both horizontally as well as vertically. The double seal is very nice. I have not had any leaks or breaks and find them sturdy and flexible. Also, the space alloted for writing is easy to write on and normal ink pens work perfectly, gel pens tend to smudge a bit. It is easy and quick to thaw and reheat milk in the bag.
My only complaint is that they are difficult to open and hold one handed. This can be somewhat problematic when trying to transfer breast milk.
- Worked Great!
     By A29T8XP00UNT1Q on 2008-03-14
These bags worked great for me. I exclusively pumped for eight months and need to find a way to store my excess milk. I first started by using the Mother's MilkMate bottles, which worked well, but after spending $$$ on them I needed an alternative. I read that some people may have had problems with leakage in bags but I can gladly report that after using this supply of 100 Lansinoh bags, not one leaked! They were easy to use and held well. I froze them flat then stored them upright in cardboard boxes in my extra freezer. I would highly recommend. If I have a second child, will definitely use again.
- Breast Milk Storage Bags
     By AVEDFI7CW1XB0 on 2006-08-14
These are the ONLY breast milk storage bags I will use. I have tried many other brands, none of them compare to the Lansinoh bags. They are very sturdy and if you freeze them flat you can fit a huge amount in your freezer. You can fill them easily and they pour easily.
- BEST STORAGE BAGS EVER!!!
     By A33P6JM87WDIPV on 2007-02-18
I love these storage bags! They are heavy-duty, don't leak and the double zipper locking system keeps the milk fresh even after being frozen for 3 months! I've tried other "name" brands and they didn't compare to Lansinoh. Don't waste your money buying any other brand!
- My next best choice
     By AP2P3UK34NSO9 on 2007-03-10
I've used the Pigeon brand (I believe it's from Japan) milk storage bags- those are the best-quality bags I've ever used. Unfortunately, they're also very difficult to find. These Lansinoh bags are a good substitute at 1/3 of Pigeon's price. Not bad at all! My baby and I travel a lot so I bring along my stock of bmilk in these Lansinoh bags. No mishaps thus far. Highly recommended.
- Beware of Leaks
     By A2QD5GOAQNERR9 on 2007-06-06
I purchased these bags because they were cheaper than the others and I liked the idea of the double zipper at the top; however, I have quickly discovered that it's not the leaks from the top that I need to worry about, it's the leaks from other parts of the bag. Three out of the past five times I have defrosted milk in these bags they have leaked due to holes in the bag (twice from holes on the side and once from a hole in the bottom).
I would not recommend purchasing these bags, or, if you do, thaw them in a cup or bowl so that you do not lose your valuable milk.
- They leak horribly!
     By A1C0F8B11OIWVI on 2007-10-26
These bags leak! I've used about 10 bags so far, and 7 of them leaked out milk when they were defrosting! :( Please take my advice and get something else instead. Your milk is too valuable to take chances with leaky bags.
- Not as good as Medela bags
     By A39QE9PYN161QI on 2007-11-21
After using both Medela bags and Lansinoh bags, I have to say that Medela worked much better. Lansinoh bags seem thin and flimsy, I can never get them to stay upright in the refrigerator or freezer, unlike Medela bags. They also seem to tear easily and have leaked when thawed. There is also no way to pump directly into the bag using the medela pump unlike Medela bags that come with little tape that allows you to attach it to the shield so you can pump into the bag instead of in a bottle. I would highly recommend the Medela bags that are sturdy, can stay upright easily and don't leak.
- Best Bags
     By AY5070XMX3X4D on 2008-03-17
I have used just about every type of milk storage bags available. These are by far the best! In fact they are the only kind I will use. I pumped and stored milk for one year with my daughter and am doing the same for my son who is four months. In all that time I have only had a hand full that have leaked.
Here's a tip. When you thaw the bags rinse them off with warm water(to clean them)and place the bag in a cup. If the bag leaks, the milk will go into the cup and still be useable. I also would also lay them flat in the freezer to freeze. This allowed for easy storage and quick thawing.
The bags are also great for storing portions of baby food in. I make my own and would freeze portion sizes. I had some extra bags left and found that they were perfect for storing the food and taking it to the sitters in.
Also, Amazons price can NOT be beat. I have searched high and low.
- Great solution for moms going back to work!
     By A2P1CIEUP8RFST on 2007-08-08
I have had ZERO leaks. These work beautifully. I have only tried one other brand, & didn't like it as much - it couldn't freeze flat, and therefore takes up more space in the freezer.... The Lansinow bags freeze flat great and are easy to organize in your freezer!!Buying them 100 bags at a time is also the cheapest way to buy them on the internet or in the stores!
- Leaks when frozen
     By A2LE9NS0V87EUA on 2007-11-03
I switched to these because they held 6oz but every one I've frozen so far has leaked - even if I thaw them in the fridge.
- No complaints from an occasional pumper
     By A1FGOP14TN3G on 2008-01-02
I am lucky to be a stay-at-home mom, and only pump occasionally, but when I do these bags are great! After reading reviews on this and several other bags, each one seemed to have good and bad reviews, but I have nothing bad to say about these Lansinoh bags. My son is 5 months old now, and I pump 1-2 times a week at the most for a small outing/emergency supply. These bags are pretty easy to fill (just be careful pouring) and seal. I cinch the bag between two of my fingers right at the milk line, then "zipper" the bag all the way to the lock line with my fingers to get rid of any air bubbles. The double-zipper lock is also a definite plus. I lay them flat to freeze in my standard door freezer, then store them long-term in my deep freeze after they are solid. Fortunately I have never had any problems with leaking. I have recently increased the amount that I pump, so I'm planning on buying another box! If you try them, I hope they work well for you too.
