  • Love it...

    By A3YPR4MC8887D on 2006-11-24
I've been using a Kingston 2 GB Data Traveler Flash Drive (formatted for Mac) for months now and haven't had a single problem with one minor exception. Unlike 1 GB drives that can be plugged into the keyboard USB port, the 2 GB drive has to be connected directly to the computer (desktop or laptop) or an A/C powered USB hub. In addition to being 100% reliable, the drive is fast, very small and durable. I carry it around in my change pocket. I use the Data Traveler to not only backup the hundreds of files (but not pictures or tunes) on my home and office computers but to make backups of the home computer on the office computer and vice versa. Having watched too many customers (I'm in the computer business) cry the blues after learning that recovering valuable data lost due to fires, theft, hardware crashes, and viruses is often impossible or can cost thousands of dollars I'm convinced that it's insane to not make regular backups. Especially when it's so convenient and inexpensive.

  • Fine but doesn't support Ready Boost

    By A1UHH5XKI9GVFM on 2007-02-15
It's a good enough jump drive but it doesn't have fast enough write speeds to support the Ready Boost feature in Vista.

  • Don't buy this product if it will go in your pocket.

    By A39O4B6IUNYTT8 on 2007-08-27
This product seemed to work perfectly well. However, I put this on my keychain, which went into my pocket. The problem is that the little white cap falls off all the time. It is too loosely fitted to the drive, making it fall off with little to no force. It was only a matter of time before the cap fell off without my noticing. Now, I have no cap, and the device is pretty worthless to me without its cap.

  • it stores your data

    By A1QI8C9HOILTRM on 2008-03-11
not much to write. it stores my data. I don't carry it around all the time. I stored thousands of digital family pics on it and it stays in the drawer.

  • Decent 2 GB Flash Drive

    By A3AH31OXIBY5CM on 2007-03-08
I bought this drive to shuffle pictures and documents around during grad school.
If you can stand the yellow-green/white color scheme this is an excellent choice. It's not super fancy, but it does its job. There are no extra programs on it (like sandisk's U3)- just the drive.

It came with a tiny, tiny, flimsy string to attach the drive to a keychain. If you're prone to losing things, I'd invest in a larger, more robust lanyard.

    Overall: good choice for price.

  • Data Traveler
    By A3H7GSIVOYFLBR on 2007-03-17
I bought this for my husband and he is very pleased with it. I personally think the transfer speed is a bit slow but I guess I'm prejudiced. I have the Data Traveler II which is much faster. He likes it because he can carry most files with him but yet it is not too expensive if he should lose the drive.

  • What can I say...
    By A3THQTGE68U7DJ on 2007-04-23
...it works just fine. I wish more of these things came with a way to lock their contents though.

  • Hasn't let me down yet
    By AWJLX147VYM30 on 2007-05-21
Bought this in December to transfer about 7 GB from my old computer to my new one. No problems then & no problems now, almost 6 months later. Just a great, high quality product.

  • Nice
    By A16XK50T3HTJY5 on 2008-02-15
Cheap & reliable. What else can expect from a memory stick - and this one delivers it.

  • Slooooooow......
    By A24LZ2VF3I872M on 2006-12-04
tested the drive by copying a 897Mb file back and forth. While read speed was very good - around 16Mb/sec, write speed was horrible - slightly over 2Mb/sec. In comparison, my old 1Gb Lexar drive shows 8.5Mb/sec write and 11Mb/sec read.
Not to mention that there is a 15-20 sec delay between you hit 'copy' button and the actual copying dialog showing up.
Did test it on my desktop and laptop.
It may be just a faulty one I got, but this is my second negative experience with Kingston after purchasing their 2Gb miniSD card (also pretty slow).

  • Great Little Memory Stick!
    By A3GGOPGOO2YLF6 on 2007-03-17
This cool little drive has worked flawlessly right from the package. I am very pleased.

  • Good speed and design, great price
    By A2RX2SOYUK7YZO on 2008-01-31
It's a flash drive, much like all the others, so here are the few things that might distinguish it from the others:

    - Good price. This is [edit: well, was, when I bought it] about as cheap as you can find a 2GB flash drive at the moment.
    - Good speed. Mine gets 16MB/s read and 6MB/s write, which is well above what I expected, as the drive isn't marketed for its speed. I assume they change it over time to improve it (the model itself is ancient at this point, but mine has a December '07 manufacture date printed on the side).
    - Good design. The cap can fit snugly on the back when it's plugged in, the activity light is *not* annoyingly bright, there is a spot for a small included lanyard (look inside the packaging! I almost missed the lanyard) to attach it to a keychain or similar, and overall it's an attractive design.

It's not as fast as others, certainly, but it also doesn't cost as much as those.

  • More computer memory space
    By A1BA4E4LQIXMA7 on 2008-02-08
Computer users can always use more space! We got our both our son and daughter in law the Kingston DTI/2GBKR Data Travel GB USB Flash Drive for Christmas. They both use their computers ALOT, especially for music, which we all know is greedy for space. When my son said the drive was "perfect" I knew this was a great little gizmo! I had the items shipped straight to the kids down south and the package arrived in record time. They were happy! That's all I needed to know to recommend this item.

  • very nice
    By A21SP3LFULYXBR on 2008-02-13

  • Nice Flash Drive
    By A1F1EPJ77Z2OIE on 2007-01-07
So far it works great. It just fits my key chain so that I can take it with me everyday, very convenient.

  • love this!
    By A285WRXXYZAUPC on 2007-01-09
It is a good price and works no problem, literally. I also have 1gb kingston drive, which I had for more than a year now and works fine as it was a new. Definitely, my 1gb was the reason for me to getting back to kingston to buy 2gb.

  • Unfortunately I`ve received a SD card instead, which was very good !
    By A3ESB4JVWXJ7X9 on 2007-01-21
I contacted the seller and we agree to let the problem like it is....I loose some money but it was my will to keep the SD card !
As a foreigner in US I`m very satisfied for AMAZON services !!!!

  • Value for money
    By A13NVPIYONL4VN on 2007-01-26
This is a great price for a 2 GB memory stick. I have no problem with the product. Files can be transferred very quickly - I bought 3 and would recommend this to anyone who's looking for a very portable and light weight alternative storage device for their data files.

  • Very good
    By AX2NM0OHZA5PT on 2007-03-09
I am very happy with the product. Not software delays when I plug it, the capacity is great, the price is great, and they sent it to me very fast.
    So i recomend it.

    By A1QVZIVEM790CU on 2007-03-12
This memory is great with windows XP and Windows 2000. I could not get a driver for it to work with win98. It appears that it doesnt work with windows 98. However, the price was ok.

  • Great Jump Drive
    By A3JPS51ZMQDH4E on 2007-12-05
its perfect for carrying your files everywhere you go. its very convenient and opens up fast on your pc or laptop and has no extra bundles software. my only complaint is that the cap is not attached so you might lose it from time to time, but other than that i have no complaints.

  • great, dont hesitate!
    By A2XHJDO87AMMI8 on 2008-01-16
no problems. SUPER fast delivery- only 2 days and i chose standard shipping options.

the product is excellent, easy drag and drop, mac and pc's, easy transfer, no software etc.

great! so dont hesitate. and i got mine new for 4$ at digitalmediasource- super cheap. 2 gigs. NICE

  • Great value, great product
    By A2ATBC0PPSS5WI on 2008-04-05
The DTI version of the Kingston 2GB is great because it is backwards compatible with most if not all operating systems unlike the other regular version Kingston 2GB flash drive. I waited a while to give this review because i wanted to make sure it would not falter and have a passing grade from me but so far 2 months into my purchase its held up well and so i would definitely recommend it as a great value in the $12-$20 range

  • excellent
    By A3GRNG9UXCTQMP on 2008-04-06
My daughter needed this for school and it works fine. It has a good amount of memory for her to store papers and information with no problems downloading information onto it. You can also retrieve quickly too.

  • Effective and Economical
    By A2V9RM6RADG6U0 on 2008-04-07
I use several of these data sticks to hold pictures for my digital photoframe - can group pictures according to subject and plug into the frame for showing. The Kingston product is low cost and as good as any I have used. Also handy to carry key information for use on other computers when I am visiting out of town. Easy to password protect so I am not concerned about the possibility of losing the information.

  • Convenience and Security
    By A2BLFCOPSMBOZ9 on 2008-04-12
A flash drive is a simple and convenient way to keep important files close at hand. 2GB has been plenty of capacity for this type of pocket storage. After adding a TrueCrypt encrypted volume to the device, I don't have to worry about the drive falling into the wrong hands.

Good price, decent capacity, etc. Flash drives are a commodity. The price was right and Kingston is a name I trust.

  • Great deal!
    By A3EPG6GQRY39WJ on 2008-04-20
This is probably one of the best deals I've seen. Two 2-gig flash drives at such a low price -- everybody could use this!

  • Great portable flashdrive storage
    By A3FUIZCUWK4898 on 2008-04-26
This was a great portable flashdrive for storage of data to be taken from my home computer to school for projects. Lots of storage space and a great price. I ordered two for my kids. Easier than burning CDs and much less fragile. Thanks!

Very nice Flash Drive, works very good. It will be nice to have the cover attached somehow to flash drive, that will prevent from loosing it. The price is great for 2 MG. Recomended to buy.
