Functional, simple, useful. By A17VV0AX9ZEILX on 2007-05-03
The good:
- It works as advertised
- Does not leak, unless it tips over during transport (the fresh water tank leaks)
- Seems solid in body, seals and connections, except the cover (don't stand on it).
The not as good:
- Flushing tube is not too powerful, perhaps having multiple nozzles would have helped. It seems to only rinse a certain section of the bowl.
- It leaks when it tips over (which you should guard against), probably from the bellows or rinse tube (it leaks clean water only)
- It is prone to tipping over when it only has fresh water in it (becomes top-heavy). The smaller model probably would be more stable.
- It lacks a pressure-relief valve which some more expensive toilets have. When it comes time to empty the waste tank, one must be rather careful when opening it as internal pressure build-up can cause it to splash initially, probably in your face. Alternatively, relieve pressure with the cover down, then remove the tank.
I have not tried any chemicals in it yet (short trips).
Wife loved it in the Adirondacks! By AED9U0EPYPY47 on 2008-07-24
I bought this for my wife for our 7-day camping/hiking/kayaking adventure in the Adirondacks. She used it, I did not! When asked, she said she liked it and she'll use it again.
Note: I bought the Wenzel 3ft x 3ft outdoor shower tent to go with this item.
