Reebok Fitwatch 10S Strapless Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Blue)x$40.00

(89 reviews)

Best Price: $99.99 $40.00

Time of day, calendar and alarm / Backlight for easy low light viewing / Water resistant / EKG accurate / 100 hour stopwatch and countdown timer

Specifically made for women, with its lightweight and slender design, this all-in-one heart rate monitor and sports watch by Reebok uses a patented method called "pulse technology" to measure the electrical pulses sent out by your heart each time it beats. Of course, the amazing part is that it works by finger touch rather than the cumbersome chest strap used by most other heart monitors. Within four seconds of touching the sensors on the watch, you can get not only an accurate heart rate reading, but also the number of calories burned during your workout.

The monitor has a programmable heart rate zone with audible and visual alarms to alert you when you get out of zone, plus a settable alarm if you have a maximum rate you should not exceed. Made from durable plastic and fully water-resistant, the device also features regular watch functions, plus a 100-hour stopwatch and countdown timer. It comes with a complete walking and exercise guide and one-year warranty.

About Reebok
Reebok's United Kingdom-based ancestor company was founded for one of the best reasons possible: athletes wanted to run faster. So, in the 1890s, Joseph William Foster made some of the first known running shoes with spikes in them. By 1895, he was in business making shoes by hand for top runners; and before long his fledgling company, J.W. Foster and Sons, developed an international clientele of distinguished athletes. In 1958, two of the founder's grandsons started a companion company that came to be known as Reebok, named for an African gazelle.

  • Good Product with one drawback.

    By A1UJEDNIJ72BK0 on 2006-06-07
I recently purchased this product and was dissapointed that it doesn't continuously take your heart rate. You have to push down on the two silver buttons above and below the screen with your index and middle fingers to get a heart rate reading. If I would have done my research beforehand I wouldn't have been surprised at this, I know.

Anyway, now that I have it I am pretty pleased with the product.

    The pros of this product are as follows;

I really like not having to wear a chest strap transmitter.

I like that it is slightly "girlier" looking; I have the blue model, and I like it better than my very basic, big clunky Polar model.

    I like the calorie counter.

It is as accurate as my Polar model with the chest strap; I used both watches during my last workout on my elliptical machine, and everytime I took my heart rate with this watch it was usually within 2 BPM of my Polar Watch. At the most, a few times the difference between the watches was 4 BPM.

The only drawback to this product in my opinion as I've mentioned before is the fact that it does not automatically and continuously take your heart rate. Once I get used to that I think I'll really enjoy this watch.

  • I love this thing

    By A2YGFAP5MVCOH7 on 2007-02-09
I waited until the heart rate monitors that didn't require a chest strap were affordable to buy one (they were $300 at one point, and CLUNKY). This one is tiny (relative to other models, i.e. the polar) and I'm very impressed. It takes about 2 -3 seconds to measure your heart rate, but it's very accurate. I like the calorie counting feature, too, although as the computer never asks you your weight it is probably making the calorie - burning calculaltion for a "standard" weight, i.e. 150 pounds. You have to make the adjustment (if you weigh less) yourself.
Surprisingly easy to use, too! I am hopeless with these things but this one is intuitive. I daresay I didn't even bother with the manual (does anyone?)
Great product, and a very good price for what you get!

  • Great product

    By A1D1HKQYYY46I7 on 2007-01-11
I was doubtful if a heart rate monitor without a body strap would work, but my wife assures me that she has had it tested at her gym and it is extremly accurate. Great product.

  • This was exactly what I wanted!

    By A417WG1CB5S83 on 2007-06-04
I received this last week and haven't taken it off since. I have used it while running and while exercising in my living room. The quality seems good, the fit is perfect for me and the instructions are clear. I love the calorie counter and the HRM seems extremely accurate. I also purchased a blood pressure wrist monitor, so I have measured my HR with the watch and then the blood pressure cuff and the readings always match or are extremely close.

The only downfall is that you do have to be almost not moving for it to pick up your HR. I wish I didn't have to stop to have this feature work, especially when running.

Other than that minor detail-I love it!

I liked the idea of not wearing a strap while working out, but in reality they are better. This one works fine, no problem there. But in the middle of your cardio routine you have to stop enough to use the two fingers from your free hand to press on the watch you are wearing and it takes a few seconds (5) to give you the read out. By then your heart rate is already starting to go down. If you want real accurate measurements and you want them at a glance...the strap is the best way to go. You just have to look at the watch to know where your heart rate is.

  • Love this Watch!!!
    By AR55KEGYY5WDL on 2007-08-08
I bought this watch because it had a wireless heart monitor. Although it doesn't monitor your heart constantly (you have to stop and recheck your pulse rate from time to time) it is still good while exercising to see if your heart rate is up. The calorie counter isn't all that accurate because it is based on your heart rate, which fluctuates constantly. But all in all, I really like this watch. It has a pretty blue backlight which is great for checking the time at night. I wear the watch all the time, not just for exercising. While I don't use all of the functions that come with the watch, it really has some neat ones to use. I have a very small wrist and it is the only watch I could find of this type that would fit nicely. I recommend it highly.

  • good product but not for everyone
    By A135PY3IT31LPN on 2007-01-19
The watch is a good product and like the look/color of it, but it would not work on me. I called Reebok and was told that some people it would not work on because of the nerve endings. This was not disclosed anywhere and would have reconsidered since I had been struck previously by lightning. When I was going to return it, there was a 15% restocking charge on items opened.

I purchased this watch/heart rate monitor about a month ago and have since used it pretty often. It is a pretty neat gadget since it combines a watch, a calorie counter, a heart rate monitor, and a chronometer. It also has a light, which makes it nice. I bought it mainly for the heart rate monitor feature and am pretty happy with it overall. It reads heart rate fairly accurately; my only complaint is that you can not be moving very fast in order to get an accruate reading. If you are running at a moderate/fast pace on a treadmill it has a hard time picking up a signal and sometimes it displays nothing, sometimes the reading is unreasonably low (i.e. 65bpm when I know I have to be in the 150s or 160s). But if you slow down to a walk where you have better control over how you position your fingers over the sensors, you are most likely to get an accurate reading.

Overall I'm happy with it and will use it for a long time.

  • Pleasantly surprised.
    By AO6SUR8YXQOIC on 2007-03-08
This product was surprisingly accurate, quick and easy to use. I compared it to the heart rate monitor at the hospital's cardiac rehab lab and it was within 1 or 2 heart beats both at rest and in full run mode. Much more comfortable for women than a chest strap monitor.

  • Not for everyone...
    By ANG0HX8MVZGWR on 2007-05-27
Great idea but for me it doesn't work very well. More than half the time I get no reading, some of the time I get erratic readings - way too low or too high, and some times I get what appears to be an accurate reading. Very easy to set.

  • Works well on a recumbent bike
    By A1OQEJ2YB1BZZ4 on 2007-09-06
I use the monitor while I'm exercising on a recumbent bike and can easily take readings most of the time without stopping. Be sure that the two fingers you put on the monitor are the only part of the hand that isn't wearing the watch to touch the arm/hand with the watch. I noticed my wrist was resting on the hand with the watch when I had trouble getting a reading.

  • Very Pleased with this Chest-Strapless Heart Rate Monitor
    By A13700AF4X40YG on 2008-02-09
I asked for and received this heart monitor for Christmas after reading the positive reviews on Amazon.com. I haven't been disappointed and have been very happy with the performance and ease of use of the heart rate monitor.

There is a little programming that has to be done initially, but the instructions were fairly easy to follow, even for someone not especially technically inclined, like me. Once done, to get your heart rate, you press the two silver buttons positioned - one of which is at the top of the face and other one at the bottom - until the numbers appear, which is just about 5-10 seconds. Also displayed is the percentage of your target heart rate that number represents.

I knew I wouldn't use a heart rate monitor if I had to wear a chest strap, so I was thrilled to find this one existed - and that it is so accurate. It's been very interesting to learn what my heart rate is with my various exercise DVD's. Working up a sweat doesn't always mean your heart rate is elevating! While I want to get a good workout, I also felt I needed to ensure I wasn't exceeding my target heart rate, as I'm not a youngster.

The watch itself is a light blue with a plastic band. I have very small wrists (about the only thing small on me), and the watch has enough holes that I can wear it with two remaining. The face is large enough to have displays that are large enough to be easily read, but not so large that it's too big for someone with a small wrist to wear. That said, I doubt I'd wear this as a watch, as it's a larger size than I wear my (fashion) watches.

Overall, I'm very happy with the monitor. The true test of satisfaction is if you'd buy something again - and the answer is a definite yes.

  • I like it!
    By A4RT3XR0ELNZJ on 2007-08-05
The Reebok heart rate monitor watch is a strapless wonder. I wear it when I'm walking to remind me to keep up the pace. I've checked it with the machines at the gym and it's within 1 beat. I'd say that's pretty accurate.

  • Love this product
    By A1WL9BM2NH3AZN on 2007-08-06
I bought this for the heart rate feature, and it didn't disappoint. Easy to use and simple to read, I recommend this product.

  • It works... sometimes!
    By A3T1SR2SB83S9E on 2007-08-01
Nice looking watch, with nice features. Sometimes it gives a reading of the heart rate, sometimes it doesn't. I have tried the different tips the manual includes, but they have not worked. It's nice to have this watch, but I wish it were more reliable!

  • worth looking at
    By A2NHCL09IW18HO on 2007-08-15
I liked this product and was impressed with it, considering it was a strapless.
Unfortunately, it didn't show the heart rate continuously, which I needed it to do because of my atrial fib condition.
The company was great, gracious and speedy about accepting the return under those conditions; so I would definitley do business with them again.

  • excellent purchase
    By A2H3JPEPKSDOP6 on 2007-09-28
As I am starting to train for my next marathon, I thought it would be a good idea to get a heart rate monitor watch. After looking in the sporting good stores and pricing them, I decided to check out amazon. I came upon this reebok watch. I love it. The only thing that I don't love is that it is made in china.

    By A2R4SCANOI86JB on 2007-01-27
I work out at curves 3 times a week, and you have to track your heart rate. I just use my watch to count the beats. I was able to set my own lowest and highest beats per min. and the watch lets me know if I'm running low or high.
It also wakes me up in the morning so that I don't miss my curves appointments !

  • No Straps!
    By A1RTIFXJ76IRPW on 2007-04-10
This watch/heart rate monitor is everything I wanted. I can get a heart rate in about 5 seconds by putting your index and middle finger on the two buttons on the top and bottom of the clock face, I havent used the other features yet, but appreciate not wearing a strap HRM anymore.

  • Could Be Good, But Not For Me
    By A3IJPVAMB9U56B on 2007-05-21
All arrived fine and seemed to be all it promised. But it doesn't pick up the senses from my fingertips so is completely useless to me. I plan to send it back and get a wireless Polar model.

For the record, I also have an iPod speaker unit that doesn't respond to my fingers. So could be me. Or perhaps isn't for people with smaller fingers.

  • Works as advertised, but a bit bulky
    By A3G156CI7FDUYI on 2007-05-07
I bought this strapless heart rate monitor because I find the strap ones totally uncomfortable and inconvenient under my bra band. I will be using it at the gym to make sure my heart rate stays up while I work out.

I knew before buying it that I would have to stop (pause the treadmill, or between weight sets, etc.) to stand still and place two fingers on the dots so the device could read my heart rate. It does so just fine.

Unfortunately, I find the watch pretty bulky for my average-size women's wrist. But it's not so bad that I won't wear it - just hard to get used to considering I don't wear watches.

I haven't tried the other features of the watch, so I can't review them. HTH.

  • Love this product!!
    By A2DJHOX0JAC5ZL on 2007-10-18
Whenever I see someone at the gym readjusting the chest strap on their heart rate monitor I am so happy I bought this one instead. It works great and was so easy to go right out of the package. Some people have said that they have to stop their workout to get a reading but I have not found that to be the case at all for myself. The reading seems to be accurate when tested against other monitors and the size is just right even for a small boned person like myself.

  • Unreliable
    By A1QUGFS1J8P5H8 on 2007-12-11
Gives me a reading about one in every ten times I try. I tried making my wrist and fingers damp like the booklet said...still no luck. I would definitely not recommend this product.

  • Did Not Work From the Start
    By A3CJC8BS6GUX71 on 2007-12-26
I recently bought this product for a gift, however from the moment we opened it up it was problematic. It would completely turn off in the middle of use and have to be reset again, this happen at least 20 times in the course of 2 days. We ended up returning this product to Amazon, and it couldn't have been easier. Amazon took it back quickly and with no problems, that was really the only bright spot in this pruchase. We may have just had a defective one, but we did end up going with a watch from Polar, and I give that one 5/5 stars. It was much easier to use with absolutely no problems.

  • Would buy it again...
    By A3C77DH8U4C0XO on 2007-12-15
This little watch is great. I am a small person and it fits on my wrist without feeling bulky, although I do not wear it all the time. I've compared the heart rate to the readings I get on my elliptical machine and they are very close. It does not work well when running or jogging though unless you can be very steady - it does work fine on my elliptical machine because I'm not bouncing as much.

One downside: I called the 800 customer service number to ask how the calorie meter does it's calculations (you enter age and sex but not weight) and it kept forwarding me to a voice mailbox for a single person. I left a message and never heard back. There is no information available online or in the user's manual about it. Until I find out I'm not going to believe it. A person's calorie expenditure can very significantly based on weight.

  • ok watch
    By AQLHF2X6YFO61 on 2008-02-13
the heart monitor didn't always work...
it would work when I was walking, but not running... I would even stop a second when I was running to check my heart rate, and it would never work. I ended up returning the product...

  • Bulky and unreliable
    By A1IEVQJTVP7Q41 on 2008-02-06
I purchased this watch to monitor my aerobics workouts. It worked fine testing it prior to my work out. I checked my heart rate between each song to make sure I was working in my 'target zone'. The first 3 checks read fine, then it stopped working completely. The heartrate just wouldn't register. I tried wetting my fingers, drying my fingers, nothing. When I got home after the workout, it worked fine.

It's also very thick and hits my wristbone uncomfortably.

  • Did not work
    By A3QKOR2FRD5JAB on 2008-03-26
I was very disappointed by the performance of this watch and ended up returning it. The heart rate function simply would not work consistently. Most of the time, I would press the button and nothing would happen. When I did get a reading it would be wildly different than the reading on my stationary bike (which I consider to be quite accurate.) Others seemed to have similar problems with this watch and I should have heeded their advice! On a positive note, Amazon was great about letting me return it and I got a complete refund. Buy this watch with extreme caution!

  • Use for daughter (age 8) with fast heart rate - v.happy with it
    By A3MA70161BYYQQ on 2007-06-27
My daughter has a fast heart rate which can be difficult to count if she is running around. This seems to take an accurate heart rate - and is simple enough for her to use on her own during soccer games (during breaks in activity). Easy way to monitor her heart rate.

  • Reebok Fitwatch Heart Rate Monitor
    By A11359229XX9DP on 2007-07-31
I have really enjoyed using my heartrate watch. It is very easy to use in most modes, and I am impressed with how many modes it HAS! Not sure when I would every use the "dual" time, but rest have been useful.
